[Q] Q700i: 3G on both SIM slots - Xolo Q700, Q700i

Hey guys,
I purchased Q700i recently and could not find a way to enable 3G network on both SIMs. I understand that I can use only one SIM at a single time for data, but I have 2 SIM and both are 3G enabled and I need to alternate between using them. Moto G supports 3G on both SIM by default.
Earlier, I had a very basic entry level android phone (Micromax A50) and even this INR 4K phone supported 3G on both the SIMs.
Any idea if this can be done? Or basically it is a hardware limitation with Q700i?
Thanks

First if all you are using xolo not mmx a50.
2nd its software limitation.
And bro before creating a thread search is must..

Thanks Rajit for your response.
Yes, I understand about the difference between the two phones; but my question was regarding the limitation. If software, we can probably patch it. If it's hardware, we are stuck. Also, comparison with MMX was to differentiate that even a 4K mobile had this functionality (had it been a hardware limitation).
I tried searching around, but could not find it. Can you please share the link if you have it.
Edit: Also, if you can tell me how to enable it without installing custom ROMs... it would be great.
Thanks,

Rajit: Are you sure the 3G not enabled on SIM2 is a software limitation? I went to Engineering Mode, and in the Band Mode it shows UMTS only in SIM1 and not SIM2. Not sure if this is any indication.
Please comment. I need to understand if I would be able to use 2 3G SIM cards on my phone or not (of course using a single 3G at any particular time)

htc Wifi Hot spot app from Evo4g, possible porting?

Hi,
is there a way to extract the htc Wifi Hot spot app from Evo4g shipped rom? the rom has been released today here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
I'm not really into the rom modding, apk creation and app porting but if anyone more capable can look into it that'd be awesome
Thanks in advance, i'm really missing this feature from my old touch hd~
I have extracted, de-odexed and signed the apk. It installed successfully but i get FC if i launch the app. Unfortunately my skills end here, i dont even know how to get app crash logs and stuff, and chances are i wouldnt know what do to with them even if i had them .
It is also possible that the hotspot app is somehow bound to WCDMA protocols and ****..
I'm attaching the apk if someone more skilled than me is interested in taking a look
Nice that's something, atleast you try'd
Nice thread. Hope you can get some help from others.
On this occassion, have you tried perhaps the video app, it supports 720p.
One more thing, the EVO4 has a different kind of Snapdragon than Desire, this could be the cause of force close.
They're not that different, the Evo4G snapdragon is just a new revision with WCDMA support, probably there's more stuff to port, maybe some library in the rom.
We've to read the error log to figure that out

The EVO does not support WCDMA!
EVO supports CDMA (3G) and WiMAX (4G) - WCDMA is part of the GSM standard upon which HSDPA is implemented, and the EVO is most emphatically not a GSM phone.
Regards,
Dave
I can see how people would get confused though, what with the GSM Forum calling their 3G standard WCDMA - I appreciate that it's a description of how it works, but it was bound to create confusion regarding the existing (and totally unrelated) CDMA standards.

what rom can we use for 3g version ?

Hi there m8´s...
I have now edited this and added the answers to my questions...
Btw:
I have the 3G device...
And I am not using 3G or gsm at all...
Question:
Can i then without any problem use the "WiFi only" roms ??
Answer:
Yes, you can use the roms and kernals for the WiFi model (7510) on your 3g device (7500)...
You WILL loose 3g and gsm in the process...
- at least until you flash a 7500 kernal and ROM again...
Question:
Do i have to use the 3G versions for my device ??
Answer:
Only IF you use 3g or gsm, if not then go ahead and flash WiFi only on your device...
I think it should work.
I have seen a guy who accidentally (from my impressions) applied 3g only rom/kernel and that disabled 3g but i think the rest was ok.
I whould give it a try - if you have problems you can go back to the stock rom.
NEVER EVER take advise from people who just "think" they know. They are just guessing and really have no idea.
It is not recommend to flash any 3rd party ROM onto the Galaxy Tab 10. None of them are as stable or reliable as the stock ROM. It is recommended to avoid them.

If you not caring about 3G support, I recommend checking out Tasks ROM, the last 5-6 pages talk about exactly what your looking for.

See the last few pages of that thread. ROM is running GREAT on my 3G tab, and is overclocked with pershoot kernel. Just follow my instructions exactly and be sure to flash the proper kernel if you wanna overclock!
You WILL lose3G though.

If you're not using 3G, flashing the wifi only roms should work for you.
And I say thats no problem. You can simply use it without being afraid.
Just gonna lose 3G ability.

[Q] Making Cellular Calls On 3G Nexus 7 32gb?

Hi Guys!
I've just picked up a Nexus 7 32gb 3g and it's amazing to say the least. I can't believe for something just over £200 I have a full up to date android experience with premium hardware. Anyway what I was wondering was could I use this device to replace my recently broken Samsung Galaxy S1 (i9000). By which I mean make calls over 3g cellular. I want to pop in a contract sim and just use the minutes and texts of that and I was wondering whether it was possible?
I've done my research and apparently it's as simple as just copying over the default phone apk and it should work although I'm a bit skeptical as I've only seen one thread about. So what do I need to do to make cellular calls on the Nexus 7?
Regards,
Enya
P.S. I don't mind holding a 7" tablet to my face to make calls, I'd probably just use hands free anyway, and I don't mind rooting or flashing roms.
sorry for the off topic
but where did you get your 32gb 3g from - as ive only seen pc world, currys etc selling the wifi only for 200 pound...
would also like to know about the sim card and making calls / texts with the 3g model
thanks

I am also looking for an answer to this question, i can't find any answers, would you be able to try the phone apk and report back. I am not sure if you need rot access to do that.
Also interested, if only because the carrier that my SIM comes from occasionally requires me to make a call to their automated attendant when their online management tool isn't working.
Metaphorically speaking, Oh and yeah I'm probably going to try the phone.apk although I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or anything?
Oh and to put the phone.apk app back on I think you'll either need root access or ABD, but don't take my word for it, I'm no expert lol,
Uh-oh, just read that the N7 3G support won't be in AOSP for now because they weren't able to licence the GSM stack for AOSP
Wait, so you can't just push it into a system app i=in adb by extracting it from another phone that's running AOSP?

No idea. As of yet the only AOSP phone with 4.2 is the GNex (Nexus 4 is not in AOSP yet either due to the same licensing issue).
And unless devs find a clever workaround, N73G isn't going to get the same scope of ROMs as the wi-fi version until they sort out the licensing.
Any results yet?
enya123101, did you try the phone.apk ? I'm really eager to find out if the NExus 7 can make phone calls and I can't find answers anywhere
please let us know
Please don't keep us in suspense. This data is what I need to determine between the Nexus 7 or the 10. I find it odd that this question is not being ask more on the net. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958686 is the only other thread really that's asking this question and not just some random mentioning of it in a sea of Nexus 7 threads out there.
Thanks again for being the guinea pig.
you can not just push phone.apk in fact your device ALREADY has phone.APK and if you try to push it then you will receive the message "you are replacing a system app.
the reason you cant USE or SEE it is because of the way our framework.res is compiled and it is not set as a phone device it is set as tablet among other settings that are different as well.
its not that easy but hopefully once its out in full force then developers will figure out a way perhaps with custom roms that allow it.
any info yet
like the others real interested to see some results

Is there a method to use jio sim in zenfone 5 3G??

There is a trick to use jio 4g in 3g MTK and Qualcomm devices, but i am having a hard time to find a solution for zenfone 5 which is powered by an Intel chipset....Please help
Get a device changer app( an app that let other apps think you're using some other phone) and do the necessary steps like installing all jio apps and getting the code
Still the answer would be NO because Jio is 4G LTE only network, it doesn't support HSPA or HSUPA or GSM.

Strange... Jio states that their network is 4G only. If anyhow this is possible, it is only possible through enabling 4G via software only when it is restricted. Just like Nokia did on their Lumia phones, their phones had 4G in hardware but they didn't enabled it but a few months later Nokia issued an update which enabled that.

Yes it is: *#*#4636#*#* Dial this and you can access the hidden menu without root and you can even set LTE network mode but unfortunately it doesn't work. There may be solution for MTK devices but this is Intel device so don't expect that because Asus doesn't provide a **** in open source.

Another query bro! My phone is losing Baseband time to time. Every time I fix it, on 3rd or 4th reboot it's dead again. Then after some more reboots it comes back automatically. Should I get the Baseband Chip replaced?

After a little research:
"You need to find chipset of android device. Your android smartphone must have run mediatek or qualcomm snapdragon chipset."
Basically you need a phone with LTE on hardware, even if it doesnt have the 4G LTE antenna as it still has 4G support if you "mod" hardware or find how to enable it (remember nexus 4?) tho thats not the case on the zenfone first gen series, unless yours come with snapdragon.
So please understand IT IS IMPOSSIBLE END OF STORY STOP DEBATING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THERES NO HOW TO DO IT.
good options it to learn from mistakes and use only devices with snapdragon for now on, i kept my zf5 but upgraded to oneplus

Never. The real problem is that when the SIM gets inserted, it loses Baseband (the way I described), else not. I'm using the phone without SIM since last week, no re-boot and no baseband lost issue, so probably it's something related to hardware.
I research on Google and find something like editing build.prob to enable selecting LTE on engineering mood network settings but I don't try it is there anyone try to edit build.prob

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e T725N LTE root/custom ROMs current state?

What is the current state of rooting and custom ROMs for the LTE variant (full code of model sold in my home country: SM-T725NZKADBT)?
I saw some threads like https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/help/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t725-t3926742 but they are old (but Samsung is releasing updates regularly) or closed or mix it up with the non-LTE device.
When will people learn that you don't buy an LTE late model tablet if you want to root and install custom ROMs. If I have seen this question once "Will this ROM work on my LTE tablet?", I've seen it a hundred times. And the answer is ALWAYS NO. I would think that 99% of the people who buy a tablet in the price range of the T720, also have a smartphone. So why do you need LTE in the tablet? Personally, before buying ANY tablet, I check the XDA forums to see what kind of custom ROMs are available.

Some people want or need the LTE functionality. I use a tablet for surfing and chatting while commuting (4 hours per work day, in winter sometimes even longer). The trains and busses in my region have no Wifi. Why not getting a smartphone? I'm visually impaired (glasses don't help for my issue) and everthing below 10" is unusuable for me. Additionally, I have some motorical problems and have issues hitting keys on a small virtual keyboard on a smartphone.
PS: I don't have bought it already. I ask before buying
Is there any reason why root or custom ROMs for the LTE variants are so rare?

They are rare because the devs don't own them. Many devs have attempted to create ROMs for the LTE versions of their wifi only tablets and have given up the idea because they have no way of trouble shooting problems.
As to your "commute", there is a simple solution. Buy a "hotspot" device. Even a cheap smartphone can be used. You don't have to be able to "see" it because it only requires being setup once. Then a wifi only tablet can connect through it when there is no other wifi available.

To each his own. But for the small inconvience of having to charge two devices, you are ostracizing yourself to the one percent and have to abide by the results. I'm just the oppisite. I had to have Amazon clear out my Kindle Unlimited device list but it had me down for having close to 200. Everytime I'd install a new Android version on one of my devices, Unlimited would log it as a new device.

Exactly. This is complaining why the dev community is not supporting a very very small percentage of he population who have no phone and only a tablet. The simple answer is as you said, use your phone as a hotspot. If you don't have a phone that's on you SMH

Hi guy, thanks Luk1337 for his help, i have built a rom for samsung t725 successfully, it bases on t720 and lineage-17.1 , I have modified the wifi model (source extracted from samsung official rom) and finally it works on my t725c . I only tested the wifi connection and have not tested the lte model because i have no idle sim card to test.
So if you need it ,you can build it by yourself ,with some special configurations. Or I can share you the rom I built yesterday.
I suggest sharing it for the public as I don't have time nowadays for tests and backups.
But a huge thx for the efforts

yes ,the wifi works fine. In some countries, you may need to configure captive-portal, to avoid the wifi connection error prompts.

I have to postpone the upload, because I found some mic problems, sometimes the microphone can’t handle voice input correctly, Im trying to fix it.

if you connect to a wifi ,google will try to connect to a websit to verify the quality of it. and if you get a prompt "Connected, no internet", it means that you need to config the captive-portal, use the command below:
Code:
adb shell settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://connect.rom.miui.com/generate_204
Note: https://connect.rom.miui.com/generate_204 is working for China area, you should replace it to your own country's server url.
