[Q] Unable to unroot - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, im unable to unroot. i followed instructions from theunlockr. When i used the flash tool and hit upgrade start, it brings me to a new version of lg support tool. it then downloaded the new 10f kdz file. Btw im using d802 sea

Yes. Root again. Install recovery. Install cm11 rom . Boot it up once. Use tool to install kdz again. Factory reset. Phone should say unrootded again. This has worked for me every time.

But the LG Mobile support tool will just say its updated to latest version, and does not allow me to unroot. please help!

[Q] Updating Rooted Stock ROM

Hi! I haven't seen any posts about this, and couldn't find any posts either by searching, so I'll ask
I've got an F320S which is rooted. I tried to install a 20MB update, but got "blocked" because of root. I installed custom-recovery in order to try to installing it from there, but with no luck. That resulted in a bootloop. So my question is: How can I update my phone?
Is it also possible to update it to KitKat (if there are any KitKat update for F320S. I've seen it on the internet, so it is available?)
Thanks!

you have a custom recovery installed on your phone, this is why the update fails. the custom recovery is not the same as the stock recovery so the script the update uses to execute the update doesnt work for custom recoveries. you'd have to reinstall the stock recovery to get the update to work. i dont know where you'd get that for the f320s. maybe if there is a guide to go back to complete stock for the f320s then that will also give you back stock recovery. then you can make a copy of the stock recovery image for yourself. also if you have root you can install supersu then go into supersu settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and unroot your device.
I made a backup of the stock recovery before flashing CWM. Wouldn't it be possible to just restore it? I flashed and made a backup with flashify!

[Q] Flashing back to 4.2.2

Hey guys, Hopefully somebody can help me here.
Basically i flashed & rooted my D802 to 4.4.2 using this method > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680789
All was running fine however somewhere along the line something has messed up! I tried to boot into recovery and now im hit with "Secure Booting Error! Cause : boot certification verify" instead of TWRP!
Ive tried to use this method > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625044 to flash back to stock and unroot BUT when i get to step 5. of method 1. instead of asking to to Select Country & Language it starts the LGMobile Support Tool and the tool tells me i have the latest available software for my device.
The phone is running fine and i can get into download mode.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Anybody got any ideas?
OK ive managed to boot into recovery(TWRP v2.6.3.3)I was gonna try to push a new ROM to my device via ADB sideload, When i select the ADB sideload feature TWRP just gets stuck on "Starting ADB sideload feature..." and sideload wont start!
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks.

The ROM you flashed is from my thread. I'm not sure why you think custom recovery remains available? Unless I've missed something else you did. It is overwritten by the stock ROM when flashed. Hence I clearly stated that custom recovery will no longer be available.
I don't know what "messed up" with the ROM?
I suggest you revisit the page you used and try the alternative method if you really fell the need to downgrade...
Well after 5 house of messing around i managed to ADB push CM11 too my device, Boot the phone then connect to my PC then re-flash 4.4.2 & root using this method > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680789
Think ill just stick to 4.4.2 lol.

@Magic2010 wrote a quick how to find the info you need. What I'm going to say is if you are a noob please read all the threads he posted, atleast 2 times each. Read them until you are certain you understand them. While rooting and such is fairly easy and it is not easy to truly hard brick your phone, soft bricks can be as easy as forgetting to push a button or not reading a file name completely.
I would suggest not just reading to top posts in each of the threads magic linked but read all the posts so you know what others did, and how they fixed it and our how they could have prevented any issues.

[SOLVED][Q] Downgrade possible from 80220H?

I just got my LG G2 back from service. There was no warranty involved at all but I still left it with stock. When I got it back i noticed that the phone had been updated to the 80220H firmware. The batterylife is amazing but I miss Cloudy G3....
Is there any possibility to downgrade so I can get root and custom recovery back? Any way to do it with a tool from a PC?
Best regards
Manneman

Try to root with strump apk or ioroot, install autorec apk for custom recovery and follow the OP instructions to instructions to flash cloudyg3 or whatever.....
To return to stock, download kdz file for our phone model and use LG flash tools, do a factory reset.

Well... Strump wants to "use bruteforce" because the phone isn´t supported, thanx to the 80220H update. Same thing with Towelroot. The question is, do I dare to try it? The agressive methot, I mean.

Use ioroot http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/ioroot/ioroot.zip, in sideload method, it works fine.
Enable Developer Mode on the phone and enable USB Debugging.
From the PC, with phone connected in usb , tape adb cmd: adb reboot recovery
The phone reboot in the stock recovery, in the menu go to "Apply update from ADB".
In the PC, extract datroot.zip from ioroot archive (in bts folder), and tape adb cmd : adb sideload datroot.zip.
That's all, enjoy and thank @autoprime and @thecubed
Watch how-to section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232
The Bruteforce-method worked... now I installed SuperSU from Play Market and all is good. Is it safe to use Autorec even when I´m on the 80220H update?
My goal is to reflash TWRP 2.8.1.1 and then restore my Nandroid backup (made with TWRP)

Help with AT&T LGG2 .. stuck in mud

Problem: Can't boot into OS on my D800. When booting the screen stays at LG logo and LED keeps flashing green and blue.
Hisotry:
1) Had original AT&T D800 not rooted, no recovery. Got OTA upgrade to Lollipop.
2) Got new phone so decide to debloat to give phone to my wife (on T-mobile)
3) Read xda forums. Downgraded to d80010o using LG flash utility. rooted. installed older version of twrp using autorec. now phone won't boot but can get into download/twrp
4) got into firmware download mode and flashed d80010d using lg flash utility. this time copied new twrp on sdcard and stripped version of rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/development/rom-stock-lollipop-30b-stripped-t3144195) along with dorilp kernel
5) went back to twrp. flashed stripped rom and kernal.
Still no dice. Exact same situation. I can get into download mode/twrp but when booting system gets stuck on LG logo with led slowly flashing.
what am I doing wrong ?
Are you able to get into recovery? With a lolipo ROM you have to download KitKat boot stack or simply download blastgator lollipop ROM patch from here http://blastagator.ddns.net

From what I read in the OP of that ROM, you're supposed to just flash the rom zip, boot up, go back into recovery and flash the kernel.
"To install ROM, just flash the zip! (Note: The zip isn't signed.) My zip flashes everything you need for the ROM to work correctly.
Recommended: Flash @dorimanx kernel after install. My zip includes stock 30f kernel."
Maybe that's the problem?

okay.. installed the patch. still no dice. still getting same stuck at LG logo with led flashing.
also dorimanx kernal is installed. still getting the issue. btw i am not married to this ROM. Any AT&T rom will work. I think there is some mismatch of bootloader/kernal/rom and what not.
what things I can check ?
pulling my hair out.
whatever rom I install using twrp it gets stuck on LG logo. i think i see some message about not being able to unmount /system (but rest of install succeeds).
only way I can get back in OS is to use LG flash utility and flash d80010d or d80010o which basically wipes away everything (recovery, root etc).
assuming I am on stock d80010d, can someone please give idiot proof step by step direction (do i need to check modem version/baseband/bootloader/radio/recovery versions or something to make sure it is compatible ?)

Ok flash back via tot to kitkat and take ota to lollipop. Then use autorec v2. *Do not use the twrp thats comes autorec as it does not flash roms* flash a BUMPED twrp using twrp. Then install your lolipop rom then afterwards install the dormainx d800 lollipop patch just for safe measure but it should work without flashing it.

Yeah it can be rooted. Download stumproot and install it, follow it thru the steps and do the brute force root. Takes a few minutes but it works. I've done it on stock a couple of times. Get autorec v2 on playstore.

Actually instead of stumproot, use srk tool to root stock lollipop. I have had success with that.
