Unable to Encrypt VZW XT907: CM 10.1.3 Stable w/ CWM 6.0.4.4 - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum and am seeking help from the community.
I attempt to encrypt the device with a 5 digit PIN. I get as far as the Android Encrypt logo screen however there is no progress bar or percentage complete. Once the phone's screen goes to sleep (2 minutes after initiation of encrypt procedure), I awaken it and I am immediately brought to the unlock screen to enter the PIN.
I enter the PIN and it brings me back to the Encrypt screen, again with no progress bar/percentage.
This basically can go on forever until I reboot the phone.
When I reboot the device it simply starts up as if the encryption procedure was never initiated. I enter my PIN and check the Encryption settings which show as if I never attempted/initiated encryption.
I then figured maybe it has something to do with the screen turning off so I went into Android debugging settings and enabled "Stay Awake". I attempted the encryption procedure again with the same results with then only difference being that the screen would not go to sleep which meant that it would remain in the Android Encrypt screen until I manually turned the screen off and on. Otherwise same exact result...its as if encryption process isn't starting and is only showing the encrypt logo screen.
I suspect it may be related to the CWM recovery image from information I gleaned from other posts involving different phone models/ROMs but I am not sure how to verify this or address it.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thank you!

Had the same problem
I had the same problem a while ago and the solution that worked for me at the time is here.
But I haven't encrypted my phone in a while, so while I think the solution would still work, I haven't verified it.

[Q] A500 bricked after failed device encryption

Hi All,
Need your help. I tried setting up a corporate Exchange Account on my Iconia (rooted, running Honeyvillain 1.05). After set up of the account, I was asked to encrypt the table (policy from the corporate server). I followed the prompts to start the encryption process, entered a password, and then the device rebooted. It then was stuck on the screen with "Android" on it. I waited 30 minutes, and nothing. I forced a restart and then was presented with a green android (with a belt?) and prompting me for my password. After entering the password and hitting "OK" it would then immediately reboot and stop, again, at the screen with the white "Android". I tried wiping and restarting but nothing. I then tried installing a different ROM, but again was prompted for my password. This time (virtuous galaxy rom) it didn't actually restart, but just froze on the screen with the green android robot with the belt looking thing. I've tried running the unbricking process using the update.zip method, but still cannot get past the screen prompting me for my password. Would love your help with this! Am I out of luck?
Thanks,
-T
I use encryption with my tablet, and switched from various stock roms without problems, but I even didn't try with the custom roms, surely it will fail and loose all my data. The only thing I can think for you repair your tablet is to try to flash a stock rom and see if it boots, if not, then you have to erase everything from the tablet. There is a post saying to boot holding the power+vol up keys and then move the lock switch several times on and off, so it deletes everything on the tablet like a hard reset.
After you do that I will recommend stick with the stock rom (rooted if you want, it doesn't disturb the encryption) and encrypt the tablet again, it took quite a time to do it, specially if you have many data in the internal memory.
Hope it helps you.
Hi There,
Thanks for the reply. In the meantime, I actually found some instructions on how to do a factory reset (volume+ and power, then release power, then toggle screen lock twice) and I managed to revive it! I had previously tried installing the update.zip mentioned here: http://androidforums.com/acer-iconia-tab-a500/345419-un-brick-acer-iconia-tab-a500.html, and after a factory reset, the tab booted into this stock EMEA ROM.

[Q] S4 won't turn on after encryption

Hi guys,
The [email protected] app asked me to encrypt the device in order to use company e-mail and VPN. I hit "Encrypt my device" and a different than the usual Android logo appeared but the device turned off. I started it again and tried once more time but now using "Fas encryption" option. Device displays the same logo and turned off.
I just thought encryption didn't work but then I tried to boot up again and now it asks for the password, I type it, it shows that Android logo and turns off again.
Do somebody know what to do in this case?
It's ok to lose the data since I have nothing special stored.
Thank you in advance!
Update: after a few attempts I managed to wipe the entire device from Recovery.

I get the same now, anyone have a fix?
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM via Odin and performing a factory wipe before booting the newly-installed ROM for the first time?

Encrypting phone with pattern unlock (4.4.2)

I have just wiped and upgraded my Galaxy s4 to 4.4.2. I would like to fully encrypt my phone and use pattern unlock so I followed this article:
(just google pattern-unlock-an-encrypted-android-phone, I can't post URL)
But even though I have tried this multiple times and unplugged the USB cable (as mentioned in the article) as soon as I hit enter to start the encryption command the screen goes black on the phone and then after about 10min the phone reboots to the unlock screen and it is still unencrypted. I have tried following other articles too but they are all the same in terms of the command you run to encrypt the phone.
Any ideas? How can I get pattern unlock to work with an encrypted Android phone? Yes I know you can't do this via the GUI but then you need to enter a silly long password every single time you want to unlock the phone which is not an option for me. I don't mind entering a long password when turning on the phone but when it comes to unlocking the phones lock screen I would like to use the pattern unlock.
Any one else had any success with this on 4.4.2? Thanks!

Accidentally encrypted phone now cant access it

Somehow my phone got encrypted and now every time I restart I'm presented with a password to turn it on. I don't remember ever encrypting my phone so I don't know the password and also TWRP won't let me do anything as well because it's encrypted. I have no idea how to fix this issue. Please help me.b
You'll have to wipe it. You should be able to bypass the password in TWRP enough to go into Wipe and then Format Data. This happens when you unlock the bootloader.

My phone it's self is encrypted and I can't access my internal SD card in TWRP or mount system because of encryption
When I turn my phone on it asks for a pin but my keyboard or jumped won't pop up to enter anything and then when I boot into TWRP it asks for a password. I can get passed that but I can't do anything . Not even restore a backup.
Wipe > Format...

Trying it now. Why or how did this happen?
So strange my bootloader has been unlocked for six months an this just randomly happened on reboot.
Some sort of discrepancy between f2fs and ext4 I think, though I'll admit it's somewhat a mystery to me as well

I'm still having the same issue man. When I restart my phone it presents me with a black screen that says to start Android enter pin. Can't do anything. No keyboard no nothing.
Was able to restore from backup though and properly access TWRP.
What if I boot into EDL and flash all the way back to stock mifavor?

[Q] Forgot Security Pattern and Need Help!

Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is a Tab A question, a Samsung question, an Android question, or a Marshmallow question.
I have an older tablet (SM-P350 with stylus) that I haven't been using a lot and I have forgotten the unlock pattern I was using. I am able to log in using the backup PIN, which I do remember, but I have to make several failed attempts to draw the pattern before I am prompted to enter the PIN. I'd like to start using the tablet more, but I don't want to have to do this every time.
I went to the security settings to change my login, but under "Screen lock type," it prompts me for my pattern, and after a failed attempt, it tells me I have to wait 45 minutes to try again! I am not given the option of entering the PIN. So I can't change the pattern OR change the screen lock type without knowing the old pattern! Does anyone know how I can use the backup PIN to do this?
As a last resort, I decided to do a factory reset. When I tried to do so from the menu, it prompted me for the security pattern!
I've tried twice to use the power and volume down buttons to reset, but I don't seem to be able to get to the recovery menu.
Now I can't log in to shut down and try again, because it's telling me I have to wait an hour!
And finally, one additional complicating factory is this: the tablet has been rooted -- not by me, but by the previous owner.
What can I do?
