Coming back to Sony... - Xperia Z1 General

Some of you guys might remember me. I was here with the Z1 for a few months and then moved to the G2. But the Z2 seems to be a solid refinement of the original and I am seriously considering it especially since my contract is eligible for a upgrade. The G2, while being a solid phone, is still plastic and I just despise that fact. Shall wait for reviews on the Z2, specifically on the screen and camera, before making my decision but for the moment, it looks like my next device.

Lol prior to the iPhone 2G, I changed phones literally every month or less. Now I try to get through at least 4-6 months before changing.

iPhone...FOOOOOL!!
Smoothness, the GSII simply cannot get any smoother. iOS no longer has the upper hand on Android, at least on the GSII.

Have a read. It's laid out some deals for the phone on contract.
cant wait till i buy my my sgs 2
Asking this question here most will say buy the samsung!
Since you have owned both operating systems I guess you should base the decision on that. I for one can't go back to iOS, find android much better! Plus flash very handy for watching videos online.

I can't go back to iOS for a daily driver. I can use it as a gaming device if I needed to. The camera on the i4 is good, too. But I love my SGS2

Proud to be an x10 user

Ive searched 4 stores today and heres some prices
HTC desire Hd=122.00$ to 150.00$
Galaxy s2=499.50$ to 550.99$
Lg Optimus Black=450.00$
Nexus s=310.99$ and 400.00$
Galaxy note=700.00$ to 810.99$
Motorolla atrix with lapdock=450.00$ only my carrier sells it
Htc sensation=230.00$ only
Sony Ericsson xperia x10= 630.00$ to 675.00$
SE xperia neo= 355.00$
Iphone 4 regular = 1120.00$
All in us dollars from the cheapest i saw them to the highest
All non contract prices
Lesson here? Looks pwn all
X10 rocks

That high? It probably depends on the the part of the world. Here, its roughly for €200
I also think it depends on the region. Here it is for around 200-250$.
And it can't be more expensive than S2.

Wow,it is killing you(at least from my point of view),here in where I live, new x10 shouldn't cost you more than around $320...from my rough estimation
and for $425,I can get an Arc for sure(if not Arc s)..

Hmm,but as a saying goes, what makes a man a man,is to learn by your mistake
(I somehow got a funny feeling that the saying quoted above is not right, sorry for english is not my mother tongue..)
But at least it is good for us to have someone like you here..
I swear its true the x10 is very expensive here, so the reason must be its looks
And yes its more expensive than s2 unless you go to those little stores that seem to know more about phones

Seeing those prices makes me sad haha. Here in Australia everything is marked up ridiculously.
I saw a dhd recently for AU$500 outright. Ill need to look for an x10 outright to compare to you guys
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
In here it X10 cost 512 -576 dollar
Prices here suck, its like they put them at random, and SE phones are extremely xpensive only x10 mini is between 3 and 4 hundred
And the guys that sell them to yoy dont know squat about them, i always pretent to be clueless about phones just to hear what they says and i get stuff like
Sg note is replacing s2 or incredible s is the direct competition to sgs2 or x10 having a plasma screen and even worst that nokia the guy at multimax tried to pass as an android phone(quote: this is the new nokia with android, its a great phone an acording to nokia a complete redesign to the android interface)
So now i understand the wacky prices
huh?

I know its release price
And at that time its ads and popularity was very high at that time
I bought it for 30000 INR or around 600$ in may 10. It was the best phone available in the market at that time.

I'm still perfectly happy with my X10 with a custom firmware.
I won't replace it until I find a really good deal on a newer handset.

Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3

I love my Galaxy S3 as it handles all the stuff that i want. But after S4 is launched i am knda confused whether to upgrade to Galaxy S4 as it is worth it or not? so what are your opinions about that?
Right now I honestly don't think so. It has a lot of cool features, but most of them are software related. The phone isn't a big enough jump from the s3 (for me) hardware wise to justify paying full retail for it.
Says on CNET that software features will also come to the S3. I guess we just have to wait unless someone can adapt the S4 rom to the S3.
AW: Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3
If you got some cash to burn and want to always have the latest and greatest I think it is worth.
If none of these things apply to you then keep the S3. I take care of a S2 and apart from the screen resolution it is still cool.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Nope, not worth the upgrade.
Same question here, I'll wait for the reviews before deciding whether to upgrade or no.
Isn't really a jaw dropping Samsung Flagship Device
Well for me, it definitely was not a surprise to have a glimpse of the Galaxy S4 at that, much melodramatic, musical event.
As far as the design is concerned, iPhone 5 and HTC One are definitely ahead of the S4.
Body Casing: The Galaxy S4 is crafted from poly-carbonated material while the OmniBalance design with which the Sony Xperia Z is equipped seems more attractive.
Display: The S4 has a 441 ppi display which lags behind the HTC One display which stands at 468 ppi. Even the resolution is matchable with the HTC flagship phone!
Samsung Hub: Sorry for this mate too. Nothing's better than the BlackBerry Hub, at least for now.
So overall, this phone is not the supreme king of the smartphones which exist today. I would say that at this moment, this was not required and the Sony, HTC and BlackBerry flagship devices are definitely a better option for you.
I'm thinking of selling my galaxy note 2 to buy an s4 is it worth it. I love the note 2 but I also like having the latest phones. I have an s2 still and love it. I'm always changing ROMs as i do with my note and have had no problem with them at all hmmm decisions decicions ?

Design is subjective, and after owning the beautiful, and well built Nexus 4, I have to admit that I'm missing the plastic I had on my Galaxy Nexus. My Galaxy Nexus survived countless drops, and still looks almost new. I've been extremely lucky with my Nexus 4.
PPI means nothing. They both have 1920x1080 displays, the SGS4 simply has a larger 4.99" panel while the HTC One has a 4.7" panel.
The international version is ahead of both the HTC One and iPhone 5 with its Exynos 5 Octa, and more importantly its PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU that's clocked at 533mhz.
It is really not worth upgrading at all - software things are coming to SGS4 - nothing new.
Hardware - also nothing :\
Buy a new computer/TV or something or wait till the next galaxy. Try HTC maybe (something different).
Im only upgrading because I have a Verizon SIII and I'm leaving the US in 3 weeks. I'm gonna need an international version although the VZW SIII works overseas.
AW: Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3
The S3 will never have an IR-BLASTER.

Yeah that octa core cpu with a some a15's is not worth it.. so is the 1080p screen and the powervr gpu. Lolz
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Not upgrading for at least six months from now, will wait for all good reviews and then decide.. Also, considering first round of price drops..
If someone has an s3 then the upgrade is not worth immediately...
If coming from any other phone.. S4 will be a good option...
Imagine s4 without comparing it to s3...then you will see it to be a marvellous piece of gadget.. That's my verdict...!

I don't think I will be upgrading to the 4. But it still has some time to redeem itself from that idiotic joke of a keynote.
Just waiting for the reviews.
If you have the $$$ and dont care how much you spend I'd say go for it. I'm pretty content with my GS3 so I'll hold off upgrading for now
For people like me with a 2011 phone, I'd say it is definitely worth upgrading to. But for people with HTC one x/s3/other top phones of 2012 just wait until something better comes out at CES 2014
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
Depends on your carrier. If I was a betting man, I'm betting the radio on the Verizon one sucks so I'd be more likely to pick the DNA. That being said if by some miracle after more than one useless Samsung phone on Verizon e.g. Galaxy Nexus, if the receiver/antenna is actually fixed I would consider it as the PDA side of their phone is great. If you are on another carrier besides Verizon the phone might work well. It seems like Samsung hates Verizon for some reason.

[Q] Which one should I buy for the next 2 years, Should I buy Nexus 4 or XPERIA SP?

Hey XDA, I want to buy new cellphone, which should I buy, is it the nexus 4 or XPERIA SP? I need this phone to last for 2 years. Thanks:good:

I think a Nexus 4 would be a good choice. You'll still get the latest updates for those 2 years. That's a plus.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
While the Xperia SP does actually look pretty good, the Nexus 4 has better hardware. That, coupled with the updates that the N4 is guaranteed to get, makes me vote Nexus 4. It's an all-around solid phone, for cheap.
Since the N4 will get more updates (I know Sony's policy on updates), I suggest the N4.
Only downside is that you will get a lower storage capacity and a slightly crappier camera.
But imo it's totally worth it
Thanks all
Nexus 4, better hardware, better design, longer updates support.
Solved this question 2 weeks ago, was deciding between n4, s4, xperia z, sp.. nexus 4 the best deal for only 380€ in my country.

Sneak Peek of Xperia X

Here is my sneak peek of the Xperia X https://youtu.be/CPuRqdS81aM

I feel like the X will be the worst seller of the three X series phones. The XA is arguably the best looking device and will be the cheapest, while the XP will have the most features, leaving the X in no man's land - overpriced and under spec'd.

Not much of a price drop... It's still priced like a top spec flagship device but is clearly a midrange device. Paying almost $700 USD for a midrange device is unheard of!
