Testing menu - Nvidia Tegra Note 7

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not but if you go from settings>about tablet and tap quickly a few times on the kennel number, you will find the trigger for a testing suite.
Enjoy!

[GUIDE] Easy way to get MSL without calling Sprint, using CMDA Workshop, OR ROOT!!

First off I'll start by saying I have tried this on my phone (custom rom obviously) and on both my sister's and father's phone, both of which ran the official sprint update... don't ask me why.
Anyway, I came across this screwing around a couple months ago when I wanted to reset my PRI, and apparently it still works with 2.1 roms.
Before doing this make sure you have aLogcat. Also its easier to find your MSL if you go into logcat and "clear log" before doing these steps.
**Refer to the attached pictures if you get lost**
So step 1 is to go to your dialer and enter ##DATA# or ##3282# which will bring up the EPST menu
Once the menu pops up just select "View Mode"
At this point you will see a screen with 3 selections.
From here either press and hold the Home Key and select aLogcat if you ran it before, go to your tray and run Logcat.
After opening Logcat it will update, once it finishes press "Menu" and "Pause" the log.
Then scroll until you see a group of entries labeled "I/EpstBroadcastReciever" which should be green
Locate the line that has "MSL Code=" at the end of it
Edit: Or press Menu and Filter "MSL" (thanks wjason)
And there you have it, your 6-digit MSL code without ever calling sprint or using a computer.
Please let me know if this actually works for you guys as I have only been able to test it on 3 phones so far.
Worked like a charm. Thanks.
If you are going to use the MSL to fix your PRI after getting the code, just make sure you copy your last nandroid off the sd card, because if you are like me, it won't restore properly after the reboots. Didn't have a copy, so I got to rebuild everything.
Holy crap, im gonna try... thank you, thank you!
Confirmed that it worked... thank you!
Confirmed. Great find
This should be pinned, it really comes in handy.
Once you pause it look for I/Eps....Really I looked for I/ and then Eps.
Worked for me
Worked here. Vote this gets stickied!
this worked for me also, thank you great find!
Ive posted this at ppcgeeks, hope you don't mind OP.
You rock!
I just verified this works and wanted to say thank you.
I'm glad its working and that I could help. I figured since lately I've seen threads about changing/"fixing" your PRI and such I should do this quick write up.
Would've posted this months ago I just kept forgetting about it when I signed on; as I was constantly distracted looking at all the new rom updates and flashing

What he said. It was Google's decision to that, even the Nexus 4 does it that way.

Change device name in Android 4.4.2

I am trying to find a way to change names for several android running devices (all kitkat 4.4.2). They all appear as android-{some value} within my router.
In the past this was under device info or developer options. Amy idea where this has been moved to?

You can do it in TricksterMOD, but I don't know if there's a non-root way of doing it available still.
Why not just assign the ip to the device through the router and then you know for sure what it is?

[Q] Cannot get into EngineerMode

I cannot get into the engineering mode. Have tried with 4.4.4 and 4.4.2 and on both when I type the "secret code" *#*#3646633#*#* it does nothing at all.
I am unlocked and rooted.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!!!
What is the engineer mode? I only know developer options. Settings -> Build number -> fast tap on it like 5 times
EDIT: I am sorry. Its 7 times.

Its 7 times mate.
Engineer mode is one of the "secret codes" to get to some menus.
I found a lit of secret code son the N4 and maybe the engineer mode one is not available for that device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/ref-secret-codes-nexus-4-t2192480
Half the codes that are posted there are for samsung phones so I doubt any of them work.
What are you trying to accomplish from engineer mode? Never heard of a need for it.

Force and enable split screen

First of all, need to thank the Chinese Huawei forum where I found this neat trick. Also if this has been posted here then sorry I did searched but nothing came up with this topic.
Anyhow the trick is to force the split screen functions where any incompatible app may prevent the split screen to open as it should.
First of all, need to go to setting-about phone. then touch the build number with your knuckle multiple times in a quick succession. This will activate the developer option.
Go back to the setting first page, and the developer option new tag should show up. Go into this tag and scroll down to the very bottom and enable the " Force activities to be resizable" then reboot phone. The Force split screen is good to go after reboot.

Thanks I'll rebrand my Mate to Chinese then because they get all the updates and the good stuff. :good:
I am enjoying the Chinese versions quite a !ot and no urgency in changing to international version just yet. One major issue is the notifications and that can be quite annoying for some. But somehow I can live with it.

You don't get notifications at all?
Notification depends on how often one uses the certain app. The Chinese version is very aggressive in shutting down the app in the background. One app I get quite regular notification is the email app despite I use the same frequency with the others. One advantage I find for its behaviour is my battery is really efficient. I have times that the phone lasts me 3 full days with about 5 hours SOT between charges.

no need to use your knuckle on the build number. just regular touch with fingers will work.
