OTA Update-DL-Link for french MotoG (Blur_Version.176.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR) - Moto G General

This OTA-Update will update your french (Retail.en.FR) MotoG from Blur_Version.174.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR to Blur_Version.176.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR.
Don't get fooled by the filename this is indeed the 176.44.9 update. You might need to change the file name to "Blur_Version.176.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR.zip" in order to install via SDCARD (copy renamed update to /sdcard/ on your phone) method
http://www.file-upload.net/download-8643048/Blur_Version.174.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR.zip.html
MD5 checksum: 56934274b7985aad92ea4fc08bc29f12
PS: Please ignore the thread title. I've mixed up OTA and OTG . I've reported myself to get it changed.

... or without renaming it can be installed via stock (!) recovery.
Edit: Philz can be used too.

My experience is that root is not a problem. And when Philz recovery warns you about non-signed file, just ignore it.

Restore your recovery partition back to stock.
some how my problem same to shin9999, already unroot and also restore to stock.. but the installation keep fail.... dont know why..... could someone help?
We can't help you if you don't tell us more information...
Have you installed ANY patches of ANY kind into your current ROM? AdHoc fix? NFTS fix? Have you removed any stock apps, or frozen them at all?
ANY change at all to the stock ROM will cause the differential update to fail, as the file checksums will no longer match.

because 4.010.22 is a stock rom and it wiped your CWM recovery ( technically you're back to stock recovery... therefore the update to .30 went smooth )
did you guys re-rooted/CWM after you went to 4.010.30 ?? then un-rooted to updated to 4.010.38 ?
when you'd un-rooted... did you restored stock recovery ??
did you properly shutdown the device and transferred the zip file to root of SD Card and properly invoked the stock recovery ??
try the info outlined here

Little bit confused

I've been looking at the threads but so far I don't believe there's one that tells you what to do if you've actually installed the official OTA update?
I.e. I have an rooted 2.3.4 GT-I9023 with an unlocked bootloader. With no clockwork or anything, as to be honest the last time I used it (on my old HTC DHD) it made my phone unstable (the phone would sometimes boot up of its own accord and stop at the clockwork screen).
Does anyone know how to re-root the NS after it's installed the official OTA update without clockwork?
Thanks
Edit: Downloading the OTA update won't relock the boot-loader will it?

You cannot get root back without a custom recovery. OTA will not relock the bootloader, you'll just lose root and custom recovery.
You need to flash custom recovery using fastboot, then flash superuser to get root back. There are plenty of guides in the stickies describing the process.
Ok, so i'm updated to 2.3.6 but of course have lost root (never had CWM to begin with on this phone). Anyone know where I can DL CWM (i'm assuming it needs to be flashed via platform-tools directory in the android sdk per normal) and the latest su file?
EDIT: nvm, I found the latest CWM and successful flashed (my method was correct). However I've not been able to find the latest superuser.zip to flash yet. Also, I don't know why ppl say to use the market as I don't see how that method can work. I've already got superuser installed from before I updated but that doesn't help me get root. Only flashing the zip from recovery (as I understand it) would. Which renders the market useless in this regard.
/confused
The superuser app checks to see if you have the latest superuser binary and will download and instalk it. Or download superuser from within rom manager.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Ok..the binary update fails (because i don't have root) so it's chicken and egg as far as I can tell.
You where already told. Flash custom recovery via fastboot. Boot into it and flash su.zip Same way it was done prior to update to the ota. Same as it always was and will be.

Turns out that CWM got overwritten by stock android recovery. Re-flashing CWM and then flashing su did the trick. I'm rooted once more!

You're welcome.
If you stick with a stock ROM then recovery will reflash every time you reboot. To prevent this you can go to system>etc, and change the file install-recovery.init to something else like install-recovery.init.bak.

Root on Android 4.3 [Locked bootloader, but needs to be unlock-able]

Hello Everyone.
Yesterday, I updated my "Global" Z1 firmware to Android 4.3 and then {Of course} I had no root. I already had a TA backup from 4.2 (534) and already un/relocked the bootloader so I am not worried about warranty. So I tried something to get Full root on Locked bootloader.
What I basically did is that I unlocked the bootloader, turned on USB debugging, downloaded doomkernel (Made by @DooMLoRD) and then in fastboot I wrote the command:
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
Then it restarted and booted doomkernel once (fast boot filename.img makes the phone boot that kernel once) and then flashed the latest SuperSU zip using TWRP recovery (VOL Down) and then went to Advanced → Fix Permissions. Then tried mounting /system as R/W but with no success. So I then flashed doomkernel using the following fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and then installed the latest XZDualRecovery by @[NUT] and then I had 4 recoveries So I flashed stock kernel and XZDualRecovery wasn't uninstalled, So what I did is that I flashed the SuperSU zip again (using TWRP) and then booted up.
In the first boot, I couldn't mount /system as R/W but I restarted for some reason. and tried to mount as R/W and it worked!
So I relocked my bootloader (by restoring the TA) and now I have full root on TOTALLY STOCK 4.3 Locked bootloader :victory:
Now, when I go to /system/etc/init.d I find a file named "99SuperSUDaemon" and I remember reading somewhere that init.d has something to do with what should work on boot (other than system booting things, cuz I only see that file). So maybe that fixed the "Partial root" problem. Don't know where it came from, but it works :highfive:
Just thought that it might be good to share some info with others, might be useful for people who doesn't want to use ftf's of other places like someone in MEA (me) doesn't want to use UK or US or any other ftf cuz of more bloatware.
Regards,
~J2C
May I ask you how you can verified if you have a Full Root or Semi Root?
Well, I have been removing system apps and I can mount /system as R/W.
If there's a way I can check, please tell me how.
Edit: I actually don't know what does "Semi Root" mean.

~J2C

Yes, I have full root.
In case if you're on 4.2 and you can OTA to 4.3 (and you have root) try to copy the file 99SuperSUDaemon to /system/etc/init.d and then reboot, uninstall dual recovery, update to 4.3 OTA and check if you have full root. If you DO have full root, then you can install XZDualRecovery again and enjoy android.
Edit: uploaded the file, unzip (NOTE: it's NOT a flashable zip!) and copy it to /system/etc/init.d and give it permissions rwsr-xr-x

@eclyptos
I know you didn't ask for a 4.3 flashable zip but here it is:
Update.zip
I don't know if something needs to be removed from the zip, but all I did is that I wen to cwm and clicked on "Clone ROM to update.zip" and then uploaded it to google drive.

Root for locked bootloader but need to be unlock-able?!
If the BL is unlockable then it is useless to say it is for locked bootloader, if it's lock it's lock.
Once it is unlocked user can flash a pre rooted rom or kernel...

[Guide] Flash OTAs with TWRP (OS 2.1.3/ 005)

Firstly, you cannot install OTA's with TWRP. You'll have to get back to stock recovery in order to install patches.
Thanks to @eng.stk, with the recovery compiled from source, we now can flash OTA Zips from TWRP.
Download TWRP 2.8.7.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=15364
Download the following OTA's and move them to internal/external storage and proceed to install them from TWRP.

is this OTA solved the problem with microsd cards?
Can anybody help with a generic error trying to flash the stock recovery again?
No reason why just says failed. I am rooted with TWRP and trying to revert to stock to be able to OTA. Last android was a nexus 4 and been away a little while so I may be missing something.. I don't want to have to wipe all my data and such can somebody assist and refresh my understanding?
Dizzyrul3z: No, microSD card issue remains according to official forum--next OTA I bet.
I'm rooted, TWRP also errored when I attempted the OTA installed.
So to clarify, using TWRP I want to install three zips: stock rom, OTA03 (system dump), and OTA04 (update), wipe cache/dalvik. Correct?
Question: I install them all at once in TWRP, right? Will any of this erase my apps/data?
Thanks,

Instructions:
1. Switch to Stock Recovery if you're running TWRP. But how to do it? Restore this backup from TWRP.
2. Flash the system dump available at this thread.
3. Now flash this update/patch.
4. Then fastboot flash TWRP recovery if you only need it.
Just my 2 cents, boot TWRP instead of flashing it. I personally suggest.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp_directory_of_your_pc.img
PSA: You'll need Stock recovery to patch official updates.
