Running PA 4.0+ LG G2 Internet Connectivity problems (solved) - General Paranoid Android Discussion

I've seen a few people in the official thread created by houstonn on the 4.0+ PA for the G2 having problems where all internet connectivity would cut out. This is a relevant place for my post because it is in a general discussion on PA, I can't post in the official forum because I don't have the required amount of posts on the forum.
I was having that problem but dug around and figured out that Adblock Plus was the problem. While browsing pages in either the stock internet browser or Google Chrome and running into a page that was listed in ABP's ad LINK, all downloads and internet connectivity would stop.
I put the pieces together, not knowing originally that I was visiting pages with high advertisement traffic and tried it with Adblock Plus disabled, I had no internet connectivity problems at all after that.
So if anyone has any elaborations or questions, please post here. I am not sure if this is just a thing for PA 4.0+ Beta 6 or if it has anything to do that I'm running the ART framework. I just want to inform some of the users in the original LG G2 thread for PA 4.0+ that this might be your problem.
Thanks.

[HOWTO] Proxy Settings for Wi-Fi

OK guys I'm so sick of this issue. Basically from my research there are thousands upon thousands of people with Android devices who go to university, or work in an office that uses a WiFi connection with wpa-enterprise or whatever and they can't use the net because there's no f**king proxy settings on Android. SO, this thread is meant to CLEARLY explain how to get proxy settings and hence use the net at uni and in the office or whatever. Calm down, I'm about to make life much easier
First of all there is no stock rom that lets you do this on a Legend (at the moment) so the only way to get the settings is for you to root your phone. Now there's like a thousand guides on how to do this but the best one I've found is this. Anyways!
Next thing you have to do if pick a rom to run which has the proxy settings. Now I might add here that everything I'm saying from now on pretty much is for the Legend only ie the roms I mention and.. yeah. So the best rom to use at the moment in my opinion is CyanogenMod which you can find in Legend Development. It's perfect really. Feel free to try other roms but generally they need to be froyo based and you can check if you can do all this proxy stuff straight away by checking the wireless and networks section in the settings area of your phone. If there is a proxy settings section then yeah you can do it.
So yeah, once you're on one of these roms check that you actually have "proxy settings" in the wireless and networks section of your phone, which I might add only lets you use the internet via a browser ONLY. The next thing you need to do is install an app called "transparent proxy" which you can find here. This app lets you use apps via a proxy as well as the browser and thus giving you FULL internet access (use version 2.04 or higher). Another app I've heard that is meant to work as well is called "orbot" which you can find on the market.
If you do a google search you'll see issue 1273 which is all about this proxy issue and its been going on for over 2 years now. I dunno what google's problem is.. but at least thanks to some people it IS in fact possible to get the internet working via proxy on wifi.. you just gotta go to a bit of effort, well I know I did to figure all this ^ out.
Remember if you have anything to add or correct let me know, cheers.
Cool thread, really useful. But:

The other ROM which I'm sure works is CyanogenMod but beware, this one is a little outdated and I don't think its being updated anymore..

How wrong can you be. Both Azure and Indigo Bean are based on CyanogenMod (versions 6 and 5.0.8 respectively). Version 6.1 of CM is under heavy development, and it will replace Azure as it's the first version to officially support the Legend. There are nightly builds of CM for our phones, so every day something changes. It's about as actively developed on as Android itself.
Also, what did you write your post in? Why are there so many line breaks?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh no no mate you misunderstood, sorry I see now I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean CyanogenMod in general was outdated and not being updated anymore. I meant that one in the roms section "[ROM] CyanogenMod 6.0.0-RC2 for HTC Legend" by kyosa. Sorry, I'll fix that up in the main post. And yeah what I've done is just pressed enter a lot to make the paragraphs look like that.. I kinda didn't know how to make a big essay readable so I just did that. I don't think it worked haha, let me adjust it. I'll try and eventually make it looks like a lot of the other guides when I get some more info and more response.

Best new rom that includes web top

I'm going full steam to get web top working (sans dock). I have Nottachtrix 1.3.1 and the device supposedly says it has web top OSHWT_U1_4.257.19 installed, however using the nebtop app, it NEVER loads.
Any ideas? Is webtop really installed? How can I tell? Which other roms have it pre-installed (I don't NEED to have ICS, I'll go with an older rom simply for webtop)?
You just created pretty much the same thread...

[Q] Com2USPoker? Not in GroupPlay? And other first time Andriod user questions...

Hi everyone,
Just transferred from iPhone 4 to the Galaxy S4 and am experiencing comething of a shock between the two operating systems. I am NOT going to be rooting or changing the factory OS in any way, just using the sotck OS and systems provided by Samsung. My biggest questions are:
1) Disabling/Enabling pre-installed apps (AT&T junk, etc.): If I disable a pre-installed app, find that it affects a function I like (Google I'm looking at you...) and then re-enable it, will that adversely affect my phone in any way? Ie. will I get back the funcionality that I originally had? Can I brick my phone completely accidently by disabling a key application?
2) Com2USPoker: WHERE IS THIS APP? I like to know that every function on my phone works before committing but I cannot for the life of me find this app. It is not in GroupPlay, App screen, anywhere but Application manager and it says that it is enabled. Does the App only show up in GroupPlay when there are multiple samsung devices connected to the GroupPlay app? As a pefectionist, this is really bugging me that I cannot find this app.
Any advice would be appreciated! Please go easy on me as I am new to Android
I suggest you read the "pinned" threads in the General and Q & A sections before you do ANYTHING to your phone. Also, use the Q & A section as an area to bring up or ask about new or previously un-discussed issues and topics only after you have read and searched for existing topics and answers. Searching, reading, and learning will get you what you need around here.
If I were you it'd stick with the iphone. This is a development forum. Not a user forum.

Android 5.1.x care package for Cuba

Greetings fine folks of the S3 Mini forum!
I first broached this idea in the OmniROM 5.1.1 thread - I just got back from Cuba having met some folks out there who are pretty keen to get their hands on the latest Android goodness, but are completely unable to as:
there is essentially no residential internet in Cuba
there is no cellular internet
the WiFi you can find in tourist hotels/town telecoms offices cuts in and out preventing downloads of any size
Many Google services don't work due to the embargo
Currently apks are shared phone-to-phone using Zapya over Bluetooth and WiFi hotspotting. To give these guys something to play with, I am planning on sending an SD card over - an Android 'care package' - including:
Everything needed to flash custom ROMs (USB drivers, ODIN, minimal fastboot/adb)
A couple of custom ROMs (CM12.1 and OmniROM?)
Comprehensive flashing instructions (using Odin and not) for the S3 Mini (translated into Spanish ideally)
GApps (5.1.x) - 'Mini' if the phone can take it
Useful .apks/binaries e.g. Camera, Cardboard (I took one over, it was a big hit!), SuperSU...
Anything else useful to get them started playing with Lollipop
I'm currently working in a Google Doc collecting where these things can be downloaded and starting to find flashing instructions - which is where you guys come in. Although I found the S3 Mini to be relatively popular in Cuba, I don't own one so I can't test this stuff myself. If anyone would like to contribute to this project, I'd really appreciate it. It won't require too much work - but some sanity checking would be appreciated. You can find the Google Doc here. If you do make any changes, please use 'Suggesting' mode or coloured text
If you have any suggestions for things I should be including other than what's above and in the document, please add it or let me know. I'll update this thread once I've got some instructions done to be checked.
Thanks!
Regarding the flashing instructions, I don't know if this can help you, though it's in English.

Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Free mobile app
Since the the guide mentioned above is mine, i would like to know if it is the final choice.
Why not set up a mesh network? If you could get enough devices running it, You could in concept make your own internet.
I'm not from Cuba, (live in south Florida) but I can probably help out.

Ad block issues on Android Q Beta 6?

Went ahead and installed Q Beta 6 about 24 hours ago, and it seems that all VPN based ad blockers actually break internet access (looks like dns name resolution issues). Blockers tried are DNS66 (working find previously) and Blokada, while others seem to just crash on loading.
Anyone seeing something similar? I'm wondering if it's must my setup.
It looks like Q does make some changes to how VPN traffic is handled, as well as permission changes, do it wouldn't surprise me if this was an actual issue.
I'll keep looking and post back what I find.
There are a couple of posts over in the Blokada thread about the same symptoms I see, two of which mention Android Q Beta - https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...ad-blocker-t3503374/post80043760#post80043760
This was resolved for me by switching the Private DNS setting to Automatic.
See the thread on the blokada app forum:
