cwm stock 10.4.1.B.0.101 xperia z c6603 - Xperia Z General

made a cwm flashable zip of the new firmware
download from here https://mega.co.nz/#!KQs3RRzL!6LRxBbUkvT5x-RNsmiyRTFDybmjhoXM5oirtLQ-nAmo
for rooting ,download NUT's dualrecovery.zip , and superuserfix.zip
http://nut.xperia-files.com/?dlid=WF...hhYmxlLnppcA==
Copy those to sdcard , wipe cache/dalvin if your coming from other stock odex rom
Wipe data if your using custom/deodex rom) ,
Flash the attached cwm zip , dualrecovery.zip , and superuserfix.zip .
Turn of your phone , and flash kernel/fota/baseband using flashtool,
Remember to exclude system partition and untick wipe options in flashtool

The download link is broken :-\ and the SuperSU link is incrypted

The download link for the rom works fine for me, yeah just saw the encryption of super su
You can search for the super su fix and download from somewhere else its only needed for rooting the rom

Download SuperSU directly from Chainfire's site - http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
I really don't know why people are renaming his zip and hosting it elsewhere.

So, just to be sure because i've never done this procedure for rooting before.
After flashing the rom, xz dualrecovery and update-supersu zip files, i use flashtool to flash the .ftf file and uncheck all wipe data boxes, and exclude everything except fota, kernel and baseband, am i correct?
It's the last part with the exclusions that i didn't get completely right..sorry if i look like an idiot :cyclops:

that's strange i flashed the file and everything worked fine
What error message did you get? If it was a md5 error then download the file again and then flash it

i get error extracting update-binary if i remember correctly...
anyway after trying some other methods, i managed to unroot my phone..
I'm gonna try your method again, since my phone is kinda messed up now..

flashed the zip but got an error during setting permission
now wifi does not work anymore

same here, just tried again..
set_perm: some changes failed
E:error executing updater binary in zip
Error flashing zip...
Failed
About the wifi, i think it has something to do with the flashtool exclude options..when i tried with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50234676
wifi worked fine, i had root but some weird issued occurred as i described in the above thread..
and after i tried for a second time, i lost root...so i am back from the beginning...
just to mention i have lb, but i guess it doesn't matter when flashing stock kernels, right?

its going to crash out on
set_perm(1002, 1002, 0440, "/system/etc/dbus.conf");
as there doesn't appear to be a dbus.conf in the zip.
as the remaining permissions then aren't set it could well be why the sensors and wifi etc don't play nicely.

[Q] [Problem] SU binary not found! How to Update!?

Situation : I'm on JellyBlast3.0.4 with Merruk 2.0 pre-final kernel.
After flashing kernel on JB3.0.4 .. i wanted to update su binary but could not.
Though the su is working fine (prompting and proving root access) but i'm unable to update its binary (ss attached below).
What i tried : Tried to re-flash 'update.zip' (though its already rooted) but cwm showed .....blah....blah.... E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted.
Then tried to replace the old su binary from its location with the updated one(attached below)..but failed..since as soon as the old file was removed, root privilages were lost and i was popped with an error saying 'your device is not rooted'.
So, i decided to reflash the whole rom and kernel once again but in the end its the same result : cannot update su binary!!
And hence i'm Here
Please, help me out since i'm still new and would like to do it on my own but.. don't know much.
reflash rom and flash otas in order 1,2,3,4 , THEN update su binary and AFTER THAT install kernel

Sir Anmol,
i cannot understand what exactly u mean by 'disable superuser' !!
and about removing superuser.apk : may i do that with root explorer or L2SD is explicitly required?
but i'm afraid i may not want to go with those 'removing' kind of steps because i already did the whole process of flashing frm start to end many times and now tired and want to settle with some less riskier ways!!
Anyway, thanks for your reply and support :highfive: :good:

And by the above link, I think he means, download Super SU from the Play store...install. Once you open that app, it will tell you that you need to update your binary. Click "Normal" and it should work.

Cant Update to 4.2.2

Hey guys,
my phone just informed me that i could update to 4.2.2 but i am/was running a rooted n4 with stock rom and franco kernel. Franco posted how to properly upgrade to 4.2.2 (flash stock kernel, remove power.xxxx.so (cant remember the name atm)and rename power.xxxx.so.fbak, then reboot and flash zip) but it didnt work for me. i flashed stock kernel and removed the power file + renamed the backup power file but when i try to flash the update.zip im getting an error that looks like this:
assert failed apply_patch_check( /system/lib/hw/power.default.so
Error in /sdcard/update.zip (the .zip i downloaded right from google servers) (status 7)
what could the reason be? id appreciate any help!
and yes....i did look up the other threads that had similar problems but that didnt fix it.
thanks in advance!!
Your "/system/lib/hw/power.xxxxx" file didn't pass the check.
I guess the original one was overwritten with a custom one before being renamed, by a different kernel install.
well i did exactly what was stated in the guide:
1. Download stock kernel from here:
forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2024982
2. Flash it in recovery.
3. Boot into android.
4. Go from root explorer to system/lib/hw and
i) Delete power.msm8960.so
ii) Remove .fkbak extension from power.msm8960.so.fkbak so it looks like, power.msm8960.so
iii) Fix the permissions to rw-r--r--
5. Reboot
i even tried it with the .so file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147427

You need to reflash the system image. That's where it is failing.
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Specifically question #1 in the Q&A Section. Then look at Section C.
Try this one.
I got it from a 4.2.1 rom.zip i have had on my desktop for 2 months.

It seems like you are having trouble locating the exact files the need to be replaced. An easy solution is to re-flash the system.img in fastboot. You won't lose any data.
The Q&A section at the bottom of the OP.
any zip flashable version of the system.img around? couldnt find that one
I am having this exact issue. Any luck?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
after some trying i got sick of it and just flashed a nandroid backup. but now im facing another issue.... im using wugfresh's kit and usually that kit performs every reboot into bootloader etc. itself but somehow it doesnt :/ i manually have to shut down / start the fastboot mode then it works. but i really dont like that solution.... just looks like smth is broken to me any idea abotu that?
That did the trick
Have same issue as OP'er. Flashing system.img via fastboot did the trick. I was then able to install the OTA no issues. No data loss.

Installing kernel problem

I'm having problems installing any of the franco kernel through twrp 2.6 the latest twrp anyways when I install the zip file it fails. I'm running 9/4 pac also though i don't think that would have anything to do with it failing i tried the 182 and 178 i believe also the jj ones to any help thanks. Oh also i saw the iso files i believe but thought they had to be zipped to install through recovery so maybe that way would work however you install them with the iso thanks again

sorry not iso. I didn't download the img file and meant img file. I only downloaded the zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002782 I first thought it was my recovery was out of date so updated twrp which got me nothing and took forever because goomanager didn't do it so had to use nexus root tool kitv1.7.2 finally got that updated and still the zip file fails also tried the lte zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358931 to have lte when and if it ever rolls out in my area but that ones not important plus i think pac's rom has it automatically in it because when i dialed *#*#4636#*#* lte is an option.
Anyways the problems with the zip file when i install it or try to that is it fails with 182 the jj file to and the 178 and jj file don't know what i'm doing wrong and it my mistake again img not iso.

I have the same issue with my nexus 4. Installed jelly bam, then had to update tarp to 2.6, yet it still won't flash any version of Franco kernel. Yes they are zip files and from the Dev directly. It gives me zip verification failed so I toggled verify zip signature and it said success. I wipe cache again and reboot. Now I am stuck with with the white Google logo. So I just reinstall jelly bam to get back to a working kernel. I have yet to flash cm to see if a different recovery works, or if it's a problem with the kernel or even jelly bam
SOLVED
I changed the recovery from twrp to cwm and then flashed it. cwm said it worked, but when i wiped cache and rebooted, im still stuck on the white google logo. Looking at your kernel, im assuming you too have jelly bam installed.
It seems you have to manually install it. Download the img file you want off here (use jss versions if you are on jellybam 10.2+)
go to fastboot mode
fastboot flash boot kernel_name.img
this seems to have worked for me. why it has to be this way; i have no idea.
why do you wipe cache? try without wiping!
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk 4
Its just a habit. Can that actually be the issue? Also I did not check, but maybe the reason it said "success" was because file signature verification was off. Twrp said it worked when I turned it off, so that could be why cwm said successful too

It's the stock firmware. All i did was root it and install the dual recovery.
I would advice to flash the whole firmware if you want to avoid any kind of complications.
And of course make a nandroid backup before flashing.
Its no flash zip.

The problem is that I already installed stock 5.1.1 and set it up, so I was wandering can you make flashable kernel with recovery? And how did you installed dual recovery? I am curious of how do you do it on newly kernel. I remember it took some time for 5.0.2 kernel to be made with custom recovery.

I'll see what i can do for the kernel.
It's for C6602 but you can flash it on a C6603. The only difference is that C6603 supports LTE but C6602 does not.
You can try it if u want to see the differences with the one you have and let me know!
For Dualrecovery, i used PRFCreator to create the pre-rooted firmware and i included Dualrecovery! No need to mess around with the kernel directly!

Hello, I think you can't.
Because boot isn't in BIN format you can't flash only kernel. And it's in multiple parts, boot, fotakernel, dualrecovery.
I'm too looking for stock kernel with recovery to root, I have unlocked bootloader.

If you are talking about flashing it using recovery, either CWM or TWRP, he definitely can.
All you have to do is place the .zip file in your sdcard, boot into recovery on your phone,do the necessary wipes and install the .zip.That's all.
But if you are talking about flashing it using flashtool then yes he can't use this file. For that he needs the FTF files which isn't the one provided here.

He is talking for flashing only kernel, but nevermind that, I already installed your ROM, works fine, only problem is that in recovery i can not mount system, and every attempt to flash a mod is giving me error, is there any solution for that?

It think that's because the framework for Xposed isn't installed so you can't falsh any mods.I do not use Xposed so i didn't include it in the .Zip

hey man, I can't flash a thing through recovery, it always says system is not mounted, and when I go and try to mount it, it wont let me. So i thought perhaps it problem with TWRP but Phillz recovery does the same, can you check if you are able to flash something?

Give me a link of one of the mods you are trying to flash and i'll try it and see how it goes.
have the same problem , system cannot be mounted therefore any attempt to flash anything to inject into the system over twrp is doomed . i tried to flash the drm workaround for lost noise reduction functionality in the camera . i did advanced wipe with all partitions cleared only internal sdcard unticked . cheers n thanks for the rom
umm... sorry but apparently, the name of file in download page is c6603. are you sure it's for c6602?

[STOCK][D6503][5.1.1]Pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.200

Hey guys, I've made the pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.200 zip.
NEWS
I've made a zip to flash the entire update, no need to flash ftf after you flash the zip anymore, but I haven't tested it. You can download the zip here.
Instructions1. Copy the zip to the internal/external SD card of your phone.
2. Boot your phone into recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Install the zip in recovery. After you have flashed it, DON'T FORGET TO WIPE CACHE AND DALVIK CACHE.
4. Turn off your phone.
5. Using flashtool, flash the 23.4.A.1.200 firmware, but EXCLUDE PARTITION, TA, SYSTEM. Also, make sure you don't flash simlock.ta(I don't have it, but I think it's included in TA). If you are using the FTF I've posted, you won't have to disable TA and simlock.ta, because I've removed them.
DownloadsPre-rooted 23.4.A.1.200 zip
23.4.A.1.200 FTF
23.4.A.1.200 FTF (without SYSTEM and PARTITION)
Pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.200 zip including kernel, no need for FTF flash
Details about zip/FTFOperator: Customized MEA
Version number: 23.4.A.1.200
CDA: 1281-2115
The zip contains SuperSU v2.46 and Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.flashable.zip
Thanks for the upload! Can you just dirty flash over an already rooted .546 with twrp?
Thanks Man

What do you mean by dirty flash? If you mean by simply following the instructions from the first post, then yes, you can, that's what I did
Why do you need the flashtool after flashing the zip in TWRP? I thought it's either or ... but not both!?

Very valid question, I also find no reason to use flashtool after flashing the prerooted zip
After flashing this i try to use ES File Explorer to edit System and I get message saying Sorry test failed and the System is only mounted as Read Only.
I had the same when I made my own roited version of 23.4.A.1.200 using PRFCreate a few days ago. Hoped it wouldn't be there on this one but its the same. Is it just me or an I missing something? No problem on 23.4.A.0.546

Because I have not included the kernel and the other things in the archive, sorry for that. I will make another .ftf file without system partition, so it would be smaller. Also, as far as I know, you can't flash kernel from recovery with a locked bootloader(sorry if I am wrong).

1. Downgrade to 4.4.2, root it, install recovery and follow the instructions in the first post
OR
2. Downgrade to 5.0, root using this method(I never tested it, and someone said that the app sends your IMEI code to a chinese database) and assuming you have recovery, follow the instructions in the first post.
The first method would probably force you to wipe your data(I am not sure about this, but having 5.1 data on a 4.4.2 firmware doesn't sound good/stable. If you can handle the force stops, good job then). Not very sure about the second method.

So you're saying you're not rooted? Do you still have recovery? If yes, then download UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip and flash it(yet it is strange, because it's included in my zip).

Ok I flashed the complete prerooted zip wiped cache and now it won't boot. It vibrates once when I hold the power button. When I plug in the usb the red light blinks.
