Restore Apps after clean update to AOKP 4.3?

Hi, I'm currently running the last AOKP nightly based on JB4.2.2.
Every time I try to update to a more recent, 4.3.1 based version, I fail miserably
Even after a full wipe I get bootloops, the setup wizard crashes, or titanium backup fails to restore much needed (non-system) settings / apps. I get lots of freezes or random reboots along the way...
Am I the only person with such problems?! I found mentions that root is somewhat broken since 4.3 and that current root applications are still unfit to compensate... Is this true?
How can I update to a newer, AOKP based Rom? Is there a official or unofficial version that is stable enough to serve as daily driver? Do I need additional apks? How can I restore my titanium backups?
Thanks in advance!

Did you flashed 4.3 radio (.84) and the latest version of bootloader?

I flashed the .84 radio but have no new bootloader... Where can I get it? Can I still downgrade to 4.2.2 if the update fails?

Here for the bootloader and if you have a backup of your 4.2.2 rom you are ok.

Make sure you have the latest version of your Recovery and bootloader before flashing the rom.

Which S4 to buy ?

So I've tried to make some sense of it all there are so many variants of S4 out there .I have recently started the hunt for a S4 and I'm looking for one with the unlocked bootloader and trouble free rooting. Which one would that be ?
I9505 you'd need it to be on a 4.2.2 firmware like MGA anything pre KNOX. Also we can flash GE roms so KitKat soon too.

Official MIUI will be available for GT-I9500 soon.
What's MIUI? Imo you should buy the I9505. More rom development for that. But I9500 has better camera slightly and sound and the 8 cores, but no LTE/4G. I have this variant but in my honest opinion I'd say get the I9505.

I9505 I'd say too. More support, roms and you can always flash google edition rom! Plus it has 4g and openGL ES3.0 support on Android 4.3!

Suggestions for a TW4.2.2 ROM?

My phone was basically soft-bricked and I had to revert to stock using g ODIN and update to 4.2.2. I am going to re-root, but I am wondering if anyone can suggest a compatable 4.2.2 TW ROM that has a transparent notification panel and preferably a darker phone ap/dialer.
I am still pretty new here, but I am learning more every minute!

What do you mean "update" to 4.2.2? Your phone should have come with that version. Also, 4.3 and 4.4.2 are out as well; there are many more types of these ROMs floating around. Check my signature for an example.
Sorry, I meant I head to update to 4.4.2 FROM 4.2.2. I traded an iPhone 5 for it. The guy said that it was rooted, but I traded it over half a year ago, so I'm pretty sure he realized that the new baseband had screwed up his ability to flash custom roms.

Rom slots work with kitkat

Just to let everyone know kitkat roms do work in rom slots after flashing kitkat in stock slot you can create a rom slot and flash kitkat roms I have flashed 3 different kitkat roms in rom slot 1 everything seems to work great so far with only one problem when I select reboot it starts the process but just sits there and never reboots I figure it has to do with safestrap since it did the same thing with all 3 roms I flashed in slot 1 so I just held down the power button till it rebooted

For now, 5.0 is snappy and kind a fast but battery is the same as 4.4.2 , and still needs to be retoched a little...
S health doesn't work verry well it stops most of time..
Now if you want to test you you shoud know that you cannot go back to 4.4.2 very easily...
goodluck
Okay.. Thanks..
Why is it that I have trouble going back to 4.4.2?

I was able to revert from Lollipop back to 4.4.2 without any issues. Used Odin and official 4.4.2 ROM.
