Thanks all.
Remark: OTA will check the /system, if you have installed like Xposed which has modified OTA relate files, it will not working. Just flash back the original system.img and update from recovery again!

Well for phones without external SD card like my Nexus 4 and Moto G, the memory for use to the user or connecting your phone to PC and modifying files like a USB drive is called a SD card here on XDA (I think), so don't worry about the terms. Hope its clear and hope this helps.

Stuck in a bootloop after trying to flash a new 2.3.4 ROM?

Welcome to my thread on bootloop fixes for flashing new ROM's through CWM.
I have seen many cases where people will get stuck in a bootloop from flashing a newer 2.3.4 ROM with CWM, and this has also happened to me. Please be aware I made this guide for AT&T Atrix 4G's. I am unaware if this works for international devices.

DISCLAIMER:
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT MAY GO WRONG WHILE FOLLOWING MY INSTRUCTIONS. YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THERE IS ALWAYS A RISK OF BRICKING YOUR DEVICE WHILE FLASHING.
DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE COMING FROM A 2.3.4 STOCK AT&T OTA UPDATE ROM.
THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA EXCEPT INTERNAL MEMORY AND THE SD CARD, AND MAKE YOUR PHONE LIKE NEW.
ALSO, BE AWARE THIS IS FOR AT&T, NOT INTERNATIONAL.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
WHY?:
In almost every bootloop case, it is because the CWM version installed on your atrix is older then what the ROM maker made it for. For example, if you were like me and flashed the HKTW ROM right when it came out with Tenfar's first unlocked CWM recovery, then tried to flash a new ROM such as Kenneth's 2.3.4 AT&T, then you would be stuck in a bootloop. So again, you always need the latest CWM.

SOLUTION?:
WINDOWS ONLY:
Prerequisites:
1.2.6 SBF file (the password to extract the file is "atrixbl")
RSD Lite 5.0
Drivers: 32 bit OR 64 bit
INSTUCTIONS:
1. Make sure your phone is turned off
2. Take out your microSD card and SIM card for the flashing process
3. While turning the phone on, hold the Volume Up button until it acknowledges RSD
4. Your device will say “Starting RSD protocol support”
5. Run “RSD Lite” on your computer
6. Press the “. . .” button next to the box labeled “Filename”
7. Load up the SBF file (The SBF file is located inside of the .gz file, you must extract it out before loading it into RSD Lite)
(Use WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the .gz file on your computer)
8. Plug your device into your computer
9. RSD Lite should recognize your device and say “Model: NS Flash Olympus” and “Connected…”
10. Press the “Start” button
11. Be patient while the phone reboots. It will take a long time.
12. OTA update from 1.2.6, all the way to 1.8.3
Download "Rom Manager" from the android market.
13. Click the first option "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
14. Select Motorola Atrix 4G.
15. Now you're all set and back in the game. You are safe to flash any new ROMs with this OFFICIAL CWM. And Rom Manager will let you know when a new CWM version is available.

bootloop
Hi All,
I wanted to add my solution for having my phone stuck in a bootloop and then soft bricking it. My phone did not unlock successfully
1. Download a working version of 1.83
2. Download RSD Lite for your computer
3. When starting phone enter recovery by holding the volume down and pressing the power button, when the recovery option at the top shows up, use the volume down to get to RSD Mode. Volume Up selects.
4. Launch RSD Lite
5. Plug phone into computer using USB and RSD Lite should recognize phone.
6. Select the 1.83 file. Then run it
7. This may take some time, but it will boot your phone back to stock settings.
8. Read directions more carefully next time when you install a custom rom.
Hope this helps someone!
Thanks for more input!

Hello, I installed GingerBlur and Now want to upgrade to Gingerbread. I am having some issues with doing an OTA upgrade. I aslo no longer have a PC which I used to root and flash before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I believe your instructions are only for AT&T users (judging by the files and OTA numbers).
If so, you should state that so some new International user doesn't try this and hard brick.
Zero-k, thank you for informing me of this.

[HOW TO:]N8013 Users: Use Odin to Install the New U.S. 4.1.2 JB ROM [UPDATED: 16JAN]

This thread is no longer valid or necessary other than as a guide on how to use Odin. U.S. users that are bone stock should be able to apply the update via OTA or Kies. If anyone's having an issue they can install the U.S. JB ROM by using Odin to manually replace their current U.S. ROM with a completely new copy of the U.S. JB ROM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Basically what you’re doing is replacing your current PDA (MD5) file with the U.S. 4.1.2 version that's just been released.
To install a ROM it's easiest to use desktop Odin. You can download Odin 1.85 here…
https://www.google.com/search?q=odin+1.85&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&ie=&oe=
Make sure you’ve got Kies installed on your PC because it installs the Windows drivers necessary for Odin to see your device.
Download the full and complete U.S. 4.1.2 JB ROM here…
http://hotfile.com/dl/189276711/f83...GT-N8013-XAR-N8013UEUCMA3-1357740396.zip.html
Unzip the file you downloaded. After it's extracted you should see an MD5 file. That's what you're going to install. Right-click on the Odin EXE file you downloaded and run it as administrator.
Put your device in to “download mode” by turning it off and then restarting it by pressing the power and volume down buttons at the same time. You should see an “are you sure?” message from Samsung. Accept it and your device is now in download mode.
Connect your device to your PC via USB. If the connection’s successful it should look like this…
Next, click on the PDA button and locate the file you extracted and then click start...
You’ll see the update’s progress in the message box in Odin and via a progress bar on your device. When Odin signal’s it’s finished disconnect your device and it will finish installing the new files.
That's it. Your N8013 is now running a fresh install of 4.1.2.
These are the directions I followed - many thanks!!
So, it's confirmed that it won't affect the flash counter for sure? I'm thinking of using the All-Share Cast dongle in the future and it exhibits some strange behavior if the flash counter hasn't been reset...
Will this work on n8000?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Yes it will work the same for all note models but you need to make sure have the firmware for that particular model.
No it will not change your count, you can install stock roms of any regions as many times you want it will not change the count.
Your count will change when you root it or install a custom rom you can easily reset the flash counter
It seemed so simple...followed instructions to the tee. I just got status 7 error. Failed when I tried to flash update.zip from external SD card. Now s note is fc every second. I might have to go return my tablet tomorrow any ideas or help? I am not new to flashing roms but I haven't ever seen this.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Flashing OTA is always tricky, think you were flashing a zip file I would not recomend it.
Also make sure the OTA is for the same version an region as your rom is otherwise it will give you errors
Did you download the N8010XXALI3 version or the N8010XXALGC version as there are two German versions in that list.
Not sure if that would make a difference.
No need to return, go back into recovery and clear the cache. Then reinstall the update. Boot into your tab, it might be a bit laggy at first but let it sit for about 5 minutes DON'T TOUCH IT. Reboot the tab and it should be fine. I had a similar issue, my tab is now flying along. For any fc you get, go into the app and clear all the stored data. IF it continues uninstall and reinstall. Remember, you are going from ICS to Jelly Bean, some apps act differently in Jelly Bean.
Riki
Just to be safe I assume I will be ok if I am rooted and dont have stock recovery. I will just have to reroot. Correct?
After you flash the German stock ICS with Odin you will get back the stock recovery.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk 2
When the official UK one comes out will it be easy to change to that if needed?
Yes. 2 options :
Get back to the stock ics for your region, and wait for samsung ota or
Download jb stock fw for your region from sammobile and flash with odin
Edit: assuming that you are from UK.
Mine seemed to take a few minutrs. After the progress bar on the tablet seemed to stop, I unplugged and held the power button down to reboot. Holding down the power button while holding volume up will eventually boot you into what is called recovery mode. You then select what you want to do by clicking vol up or down to select then push power button to proceed.
Let it finish... even if you have to wait 30 min
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk 2
Well, I stopped the fc by clearing s note data. Thanks for the help. I'm still stuck on ics though. When I try to flash update.zip it fails to get build.prop sector 7 or something. I transferred it around a little before installing - it could be corrupted. I am going to re download it directly onto my tablet and try again. Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it.
Will it be possible to download JB update it directly to my tablet without an external SD card?
[Q] OTA 4.3 Update + custom recovery + user stupidity
Hey!
So i've just received the update, and as per instructions i rebooted to install the update. But after rebooting, clockwork recovery appeared with the options of NO, NO, NO, etc, Yes install unknown ZIP, NO, etc. Because i was doing two other things at the moment (and i'm a moron) i've clicked Cancel and rebooted.
So now i'm still on 4.2.2 and when i click on "Check for system update" in setup it says "Up to date"
Am i totally screwed with the OTA update? I'll punch myself in the face if i have to do the update manually and resetup everything on my device <.<''
Thanks!
With the file from my /cache folder CWM gives Status 7 - Installation aborted. (i've moved the file to my "SD card")
As far as i saw, that might pop up if the ROM is not well done, but that is the file that i got from Google
So... any ideas how shall i proceed?
If you don't want to do a manual update, you can either wait it out - the OTA will come back again eventually - or, you can take a look at system/cache and see the 4.3 update.zip, move it over to your root folder, then go into CWM recovery and install that.
I think it's because you are not using stock kernel. As far as i've gathered from reading here, there is no trouble with custom recovery in general (it seems that sometimes there are issues - mine for example), but otherwise you should be stock: Google's ROM + kernel. If i was in your situation, i would flash the original kernel (you can extract it from the 4.2.2 release image). I'm not sure about multirom, you should research that.
As for my issue, after sleeping on it i think that i'll just wipe and flash the whole 4.3 image. After that i'll setup everything again.
Turns out, that the applications i need to backup data from are not so much, and i figured out where they keep the data i'm interested in. Also i want to see if wiping will help my memory issues (almost full device = slow as hell device).
open the file on your desktop with notepad
search for "systemui" or what ever your problem is
delete the whole line. starting with "set_progress" ending with "));"
Hey,
Sorry saw that you did a clean re-install already.
I had the same problem as you. What I did was to flash TWRP (unlike CWM it allows you to ignore the verification error) and tried to take the update again. That still failed however, because I apparently had an edited debuggerd file (happens if you use the Stickmount app). I downloaded a stock one from this thread, replaced it in system/bin, and re-flashed 4.3. Finally worked.
I then re-rooted by flashing the latest SuperSU in TWRP.
Are you replacing the 'debuggerd' file within the 4.3 zip update? Or the file on the Nexus 7 before the 4.3 is flashed?
I've tried updating 4.3 using the OTA 4.3 zip & TWRP & my nexus 7 is currenly stuck the the 'X' boot logo.
Edit 1: Failed
Edit 2: Use it, maybe it helps u
BACK UP FIRST!!!!! I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY, my device got into X mark, nothing happened.
open the zip file, go to META-INF--> com --> google --> android, copy the updater-script to your desktop, then delete it from the zip archive
open the file on your desktop with notepad
search for "systemui" or what ever your problem is
delete the whole line. starting with "set_progress" ending with "));"
in my situation it was:
"set_progress(0.448070);
assert(apply_patch_check("/system/app/SystemUI.apk", "cca620c865fb91868a3afc70f005c93dc44beb60", "3c7b5c2e77cd9296276f9e7c372f298d1913644a"));"
then search again and you will find another like bellow:
"set_progress(0.451753);
assert(apply_patch_check("/system/app/SystemUI.odex", "7ad50dd5929e3d681f4d11199fe852c1ad620ad5", "1a424ccaa5cd08e82feec972649b42aec4b8a512"));"
then again:
"set_progress(0.481089);
apply_patch("/system/app/SystemUI.apk", "-",
cca620c865fb91868a3afc70f005c93dc44beb60, 1471663,
3c7b5c2e77cd9296276f9e7c372f298d1913644a, package_extract_file("patch/system/app/SystemUI.apk.p"));"
and the last one:
"set_progress(0.484752);
apply_patch("/system/app/SystemUI.odex", "-",
7ad50dd5929e3d681f4d11199fe852c1ad620ad5, 503088,
Hmm ... you are preventing the update of the SystemUI.apk? Even if your modification will work, you will have a 4.3 base system with a 4.2.2 SystemUI running ...
dear sir,
can you please guide with the steps and links for the same
Regards,
Sumit
See Steps I would say.
1) Did you backup your stock B928 image folder contents? If so. Copy all the files (including STOCK recoveries and Stock boot.img,Nothing Aftermarket will help) inside your image folder in the efs partition(so called pink screen or bootloader)
2) you have the B928 official rom. So put it in a Formatted SD card inside dload folder as you installed it for the first time(Step 1 then step 2 then step 3)
3)now Take off the batter,Connect your phone to PC with USB for giving it the Blood(charge). And go to download mode(volume++ Volume- + power)
4) Now the installation of the Stock Rom SHOULD start. so after step 1 is over install step 2 after deleting step 1 from dload folder then when its over put step 3 and so on.
5) Most probably you have already lost your imei by formatting your efs by fat32.
So If the installation of the stock rom finishes off. Look for Pikachukakis thread for writing imei again(Very popular thread out here).
If everything succeeds, its an EPIC WIN! Partaay!.
If nothing happens like flashing step1 or anything,Or not going to download mode and just going back to Pink screen. Then service centre is the only option available.
Be like me. Go and tell them "Bhaisahb There was an OTA update and i was updating but the phone after turning off turned on to this pink coloured screen." They wont say a word and replace your Board. But beware u will have to wait for atleast a month for them.
Anyway happy flashing. CIAO
There are instructions for flashing ICS or Ginger using only SDCard.
Good luck!
How to update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow
I have a Motorola X Pure Edition and after hearing that Marshmallow has been release I've been ecstatic and wanted to get it. I signed up for the MFN and soak test group but have yet to receive anything. I was wondering how could I update to Marshmallow without being rooted. Is there any way I can do this? Thanks
You can download the zip posted in the general thread, rename it to update.zip and flash it in the stock recovery.
Is it possible if you can clarify it a bit more. What do I rename the update.zip to? Also how would I get to recovery? And do I need to place the update in a specific folder?
Where is the update.zip? I can't find it on general thread.
I didn't have to rename it, it just worked
DL: http://dev.kyle.systems/android/clar...etus.en.US.zip
Download the zip
Reboot bootloader (volume down + power)
Select recovery with volume buttons and press power to launch recovery
In recovery (no command!) press power and volume up for 3! seconds and release (quickly!)
Select install from SD Card
Select zip file
dam it did. I thought that be a good sec site.
here's the original site link.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9p...etus.en.US.zip
Also for clarification, when selecting from SD Card, it's your phone memory, not the SD Card that is input
I can't to actually get into recovery...i get to "no command" but then can't actually get to flash the zip..not sure what I'm doing wrong
**Got it, thanks!
Go to recovery, when you see the no command screen, hold power button then press (not hold) the volume up. That should bring you to the recovery screen. Then select "apply update.zip" then select the file in your sd card.
downloaded the file from the 2nd mirror. but when I try to update I get an error: "E: signature verification failed"
is this update limited to US phones (pure) ? Mine is from the Netherland (style)
