[H] Problems with video [L3][Stock][Solved] - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have had several problems with my LG Optimus L3 ( e400g ) .
What I have noticed is that after a while of playing videos in the Youtube application (about 30 or 40 minutes) This freezes and I have to close it from the administrator of native applications.
After that I open the application and load everything correctly, but when you play the video you see the black screen and only plays the audio.
This also happens when trying to play it from the native browser or dolphin browser or any other application on Youtube substitution , only the audio is heard , try to find a solution to this and read it in comments of another user, record a video that the image was fixed only when read by the phone , took the test and if it does, restart it and run it all again , but in other occasions had happened to me on Stock ROMS .
Now I have a rom based Latte v2, and I keep passing the same.
It is quite annoying and it can not be. Do not know if something would serve a logcat , but just leave it.
Thanks!

Hi! Did you try to install flash player?
For 2.x to 4.3 ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/adobe-flash-player-11-1-115-81-final-t2042464

I try to see if it works or is the same way.
Thank you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:
I'm sure the problem is the application of Youtube.
I have extracted from an older application (4.2.16) and this version works perfectly me, besides that is superior in all aspects to the current versions.
Thanks for the help and if you like some moderator can close the topic.

Youtube errors...fix

Hey everyone! As you know, sometimes you use the youtube app on your Desire HD, and it keeps saying something like "error loading video. Touch to retry"
Well here are two possible fixes:
I've realised that, especially with the new 1.72 base Updates, which come with the stock kernel, flashing those roms with another kernel eg Buzz or Kamma, causes a few problms, youtube playback being one of them. Possible solutions: reflash rom, or reflash stock kernel.
Another reason is...some videos are old, HQ mode doesn't work. If you have a video not loading, and you know it's not a kernel flash error, try clicking the hq button while the video loads (in landscape) these should fix your problems!
Happy New Year everyone!

Camera lag and other problems

running aosp cm right now and everytime I press the button to take a picture theres like a 3-5 second lag after pressing it. is this normal? Does not happen with video.
another problem I had was that I had a problem with my car making a wierd noise, so I decided to take a video with my hero so I could upload it on youtube for my friend hear the noise. The video plays great on the phone...when I upload it directly to youtube it gets fuzzy and distortioned and the sound is whack. I transferred the video to my pc and it plays fine problem is when I upload it to youtube
had a similar issue the other day when I recorded something and when I started playing it on the phone it looked fuzzy like I stated above.
could this p0roblem be caused by an SD booster app I have installed? its set to 2048kb I believe.
and the gallery app is really laggy for me so I downloaded quickpic from the market...when I look at some pictures they look low quality compared to the gallery app.
I'd appreciate some input on this if anyone has had a similar problem
other than that my phone has been rock solid! Thanks guys
Edit this is the video I shot...clearly not the noise my car is making....

sorry don't know how to put an embed code on here for the video :/
the 'stock' camera app is less than desirable. From what I've heard, this is the truth with just about all android phones, for various reasons. I also experience the lag you speak of, but not with the MIUI camera app that's listed in the 'heroc apps and themes' forum (i posted it for you in the other thread)
as far as videos/youtube, you might want to run the video file through a codec converter to clean it up. if i remember correctly youtube likes certain file types better than others.
Keep in mind this phone is running an ARM6 processor. custom ROMs improve usage, but only when configured properly, and even then it's still like running windows 7 on a single core processor with 512RAM. You might want to try tinkering with overclocking at this point... just do a nandroid backup in clockwork beforehand, and you'll be able to revert changes back to a working config if you get bootlooped.
got the nandroid setup, what settings do you recomend for cpu usage?
Set the ' set on boot' setting to off, set on demand for governor.
Start with 392 low 691 high, and putz around the phone opening a bunch of apps, just generally trying to max out cpu usage. If that doesn't crash the phone (though you will eventually see performance degradation) then that setting is safe. push the low cpu setting down / high setting up
A single notch, repeat. Keep doing this until 176\729. If that setting works, set it to set at boot.
you can try pushing for the higher ones, but probably best not to use 19 for the low just stick to 176.
Sent from my derp.
Well turns out the aac compressor on my car is bad :/
Back on topic, ill be sure to check it out later when i get home.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
There are a bunch of third party camera apps in the market that should fix the lag problem ... had to use it for one of the sensible salsa builds, fixed the issue for me.

Sound Delay Problem

Hello Fellow G3 Users!
First of all, I'd like to say a big Thanks to all the developers who helped making this phone much more powerful throughout the months. I've been using Kyrillos' ROM since v3.0 and I'm very happy with it, but I still got one not so little problem.
Whenever I play videos, I always experience some delay in the sound playback (about 0,5 sec late to the video). I've tried many video players (by default I use mVideo), but it never got fixed. It also happens with Youtube videos, but more importantly it appears in games too! So far I ignored it, but nowadays I travel much more and I want to watch videos, so the delay became very annoying.
I experimented with many things and found out the followings:
-it's not the SD card's problem as it's class 10 (cannot be any faster), tried many settings with the SD speed fix without any success and like I said, it's the same with Youtube which is internal.
-it's not the ROM; tried with multiple stock ROMs and Custom ones too
-it's not the kernel; tried stock, and different fugumod and g3mod versions
-played around the settings in Voodoo sound but same result
-it's not the video player, because it happens in games too.
So my guess is, that it's either hardware problem with my own phone or simply the general sound driver/decoder is faulty (probably sound buffer, but I'm no expert in this)
I didn't find any discussion on these subject (except this old thread), so I'm corious if this happens to your phones too. You should notice this much delay in videos. If you know if there's a solution for this, please let me know as it's quite a shame now that my smartphone fails to deliver such a basic feature as watching videos...
Thanks in advance!
FlemX
Yeah, well I do to expierence delays sometimes but not always.
Sound is perfect on every ROM I've used. I mainly used Kyrillos' v7.0 which was perfect when it came to sound playback and now I'm using stock XXJPU which is fine since I've played a few videos on it. Not much but I'll try later (my bros playing games on it ) and see if there's any problems.
Ok, I should explain a bit more.
It's not always the same delay, it seems that in the video player (mVideo) it's the shortest, bit still noticable (~0,3 sec), and it may vary if I seek in the video. It's not unwatchable, just annoying (yeah, I'm sensitive to this )
What I really want to know that what driver/decoder setting may cause the delay in sound and if there's a way I can change it. I'm not afraid to modify system files if it's needed.
Can a developer or anyone familiar with this here help me please?
i sometimes have the same thing using kyorarom 0.4.0b2, but also on other roms i tried. i always thought it was network related.
Same problem here. I use MX video player coz I have smallest lag in it.
And lagging is changing, sometime is just 0,1 sometime 0,3 sec but never without it.
I had playback without lag on stock Froyo video player but even than not always.
Now I'm on Kyrillos 8.1
Tried everything, programs, codecs, overclock, tried class 2,4,10 sdcard, no luck.
Please find some solution.
EDIT: Come on, does only few of us here have this problem?; I can't believe that, coz I had this problem from day 1, so it couldn't be that I messed something up coz I got phone that way from the shop!
Can anyone help, please?
It seems more of us have this problem after all.
Maybe people don't look movies on g3 so they do not bother with this problem.
Same "problem" here. I've tried recoding various video clips - different formats, bit-rates etc - but there's always that slight lack of synch. It's most obvious with plosive sounds - a brief clip from Iron Man 2 where Stark bangs his fists onto a desktop has a very noticable delay between the action and the sound.
I'm on
PDA: I5800XXJPU
PHONE: I5800XXJP4
CSC: I5800XXKPO
...but I tried with Kyrillo's O/C and there was no difference. Tried with basic video app and a couple of third party players - exactly the same "delay".
I can't see it making any difference but I'll be getting a new, faster SDHC card this week - if that makes any difference, I'll let you know.
I suspect it's a codec problem as the amount of delay varies - increasing in "busy" scenes. There are a few more things to try such as encoding with variable bit-rates. If I do find an optimum encoding, I'll post back. Meanwhile, perhaps people could post full details of the videos they've tried - video format and resolution, bit-rates for vid and audio etc - or better still, suggest a specific clip (provide a link for download) to make sure we are all talking about the same problem and cause and reducing the possible variables.
Pete
(PS - my first post and just want to pass on my respects to the regulars here. I've only been reading for the last week or so and it's a steep learning curve for an Android "noob" but I'm already impressed by the depth of knowledge here.)

Yes, give us a feedback after using new sdhc card, but be careful with choosing coz I bought class 10 and speeds on pc are 17/20 and on G3 are only 4/4. Maybe class 6 from quality manufacturer would be better choice.
I also notice this about busy scenes.
I would like to avoid encoding but if that is the only solution would use it but not on a daily base.
Awaiting your replay as everyone else here.
kyrillos might have tried to fix this..
Hey guys i noticed this problem right on day 1 when i got the phone and this was a huge disappointment..i mean how can a mid-budget android phone have this sort of a problem(even the chepest nokia multimedia phone doesnt have this bug)
..
I think kyrillos might have tried to fix this in his Rom..here is the change log:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123
Kyrillos' rom v5.1 (Based on XXJPM) [19/05/11]
Completely reworked/remade the whole rom.
Fixed bug with sync
Fugumod 2.4 beta2 standard kernel.
Keyboard bug fixed
Voodoo Sound v8
Added Voodoo Control [1.0.6.1]
Removed Battery Calibration [Install from market]
1% battery mod
Updated CWM Recovery [v0.30, partition sdcard to ext4 directly from recovery]
data=ext4, cache/system=ext2
Updated Honeycomb Icons
Fixed video player lags
v5.1 is non oc by default so if you want overclock flash fugumod v2.4 alpha5
I think he might be referring to the same bug by "video player lags"...well i dont have the time to try out the rom and see if its fixed(exams!!)...so can anyone try this and let us know how it works please??
If this doesnt work, i think we should let our devs know about this ASAP
You gave change log from v5.1; I didn't tried that one but I tried 8.0-9.0
And if he fixed it in earlier version it is probably also included in later versions.
But I can confirm that in 8-9 the problem still exist, so once again dead end.

I used Kyrillos v5.1 and yes, I also thought that it meant the sound problem, but found out it refers to the occasional lagging of the video/image, not the sound. And no, the delay problem was there in it, and exists still, like JanerNevis said. I haven't updated to v9.0 yet and probably won't till friday evening as I have a busy week.
You may try another rom for egsample Vivek's or DutchMods.

Do you have information that this problem is fixed in that ROMs?
Or did you tried them and saw by yourself?

Are you kesc? To whom are you replaying?
Yes. maybe it's a hardware problem, but then why doesn't all the users experiencing the same?
is the problem still with a newer version of ROM or another more stable ROM.
do you use voodoo?

In my case the problem was on stock Eclair and Froyo and on Kyrillos 8-9, Kyorarom 0.3-04
Yes I use voodoo.
Had a dig around and perceived wisdom says it's a hardware problem. Experience says that whenever you see a "definitive" answer on any IT related topic - take it with a pinch of salt. It's in the nature of the internet that one "I know..." post or bog can easily become gospel and it doesn't take long before everyone "knows" it's true - but they never actually check or verify. In truth, they're all quoting something that someone else wrote.
Anyway - spent a couple of hours mucking about with a few different video converters and there does seem to be a partial solution. Obviously, re-encoding is not ideal but it may help for people transferring their own films and DVDs etc.
The basics - encode the video as MP4 - the resolution doesn't appear to matter (as long as it's not too large - which would be a waste anyway on the i5800's screen). I've tried from 15 to 30 fps and it made no difference - 24 or 25 gives a perfectly smooth picture. The main thing is to encode the audio as mp3 - not AAC. In the standard video player app, set the screen to show the full vid at the correct aspect ratio (the small square gadget at the top-right of the screen should look like it has a diagonal line through it rather than a dot in the middle). I haven't tried any other video players with these settings yet - when I do, I'll see if the various "zoom" settings makes a difference.
Funny thing is, this works - but not every time even with the same video. Start the vid - if it is out of sync, rewind the vid by dragging the progress bar. Bizarrely, that seems to "fix" the problem - or at least reduce the "lag" to a minimal amount.
New SD card should be here tomorrow but I'm doubting it will do anything to help - I'd have thought that the system would have a buffer rather than literally trying to decode on the fly. I'm also not convinced that the relatively slow CPU is the problem - in practice, it should be plenty capable of handling this plus decoding audio is a doddle - if it was down to processor speeds, I'd expect the video to lurch as it tries to keep up with the audio rather than the soundtrack being delayed on an otherwise smoothly running video.
I don't know how this operating system works but if this was a PC or Amiga, I'd be looking at the relative prorities of the audio and video processes to see if the video was hogging the CPU. Maybe one of the techies here can advise on that.
Off topic but - my sim card went kapput today O2 are sending me a replacement so I should be fine in a couple of days. Annoying cos I fancied trying Kyrillo's ROM V9 but I don't want to do that until I know for sure that it's the sim rather than a problem with the phone.

Dev-Null Oxygen 2.3.7

Hello, I tested the latest update of the rom dev-null 2.3.7 schiznik created, was to say that if it still fails the video camera, the time course of the video goes up, but the camera freezes, although move the phone, is not moving, and just giving fc.
Do not put it in the appropriate topic and privileges I have not yet xD
Regards, and look forward you can fix the failures of this wonderful rom
I confirm that the video camera funciona.Solo not yet a problem in llamada.Si screen when you're in the call screen to a number and want to activate the keyboard, do not see the last line of teclado. No know what I mean well I'm sorry.
Otherwise perfectly.
Greetings.
I know about the problems with the video recording.
Still looking into it, time & other commitments permitting

At first,
Thanks schiznnik for this oxygen. The newest release (09.11.2011) has also the recording Error:
I start cam, choose camcorder (i sweep the circle to the right),
push the red Rec. button, and then picture stops,
the time runs on the top left side, i try to stop the video recording
and bang a ´Sorry message appears`.
Thanks for the Rom and hoping that you correct the little mistakes.
I use it every day with a magnificent result, stable and fast.
A greeting.

[Q] browser are force closing and more

This is my second Iconia, my first one I rooted the day I got it and 12 days later, my Iconia wouldnt stay connect to the internet. But anyways, I have tried Dolphin for Pad, Stock Browser, and even firefox for my Iconia. Everytime I browse a forum, or watch a simple video file on any of these browsers, it will force close. I have searched the forums to see if its a known problem or not. I typically will have no more than 2 tabs per browser open at a time. My question is, does anyone else have this problem, is there anything I can do to correct this?
The other issue I am having is, after switching over to a new tab the page will refresh itself losing its place/download progress of a video etc. Is there any way to correct this so it doesnt do that?
My Iconia is currently stock on 3.1 ( just in case I want to roll back to root access)
And this is happening with multiple browsers? If so, the refresh problem is also happening? That is extremely bizarre, and I unfortunately do not have much to offer than to let you know that this does not happen to me at all.
I can only confirm that this does not happen to me also, but I have applied all the latest updates, so maybe one of the updates has addressed this issue. Have you checking the system log (logcat or android system info app) to see what if any error is being thrown?
First of all, you need to update, 3.1 is so old school. Secondly, you can easily root 3.2 these days. Third, have you tried Opera, never had a problem with it. The other 2 you mentioned dolphin pad and firefox are beta releases.
Wow, that is kinda bizarre. I'm on rooted stock 3.2.1 and use Dolphin browser for tablets and don't have any of these problems. If you are interested in rooting and flashing a different ROM, I'd say go ahead and do it, and see if that fixes the issue. I generally read most of the posts on here, and have never seen anyone with a problem like yours. The closest thing I've had happen is the very occasional FC with Dolphin if I have tons of tabs open and try to DL a file or something. Sorry thats not much help, but maybe a new ROM might fix whatever is messed up for you.
Have you updated your Adobe Flash player in the marketplace? I had the same problem as yours before. Then I checked the market and there was an "update" button for adobe flash. So I updated, and the browser didn't for close after that.
I've got the same problem when a few apps are running in the background and when I try to open web pages that are a bit heavy (containing movies or large photographs, for instance).
I had the same problem with the stock browser and the Dolphin browser...
My guess is that the amount of RAM memory is not high enough... Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds to me simply logical.
No troubles for me either..
im wondering if you two are on the same sites d/loading playing the same videos..
i have issues with some site on my iconia netflix search function.. and similar boxes on other sites.. But some sites its fine..
i suggest do as told above.. get on a version of 3.21 try the honeylicious or other great near stock roms.. then if your trouble continue check with other web sites that you normally dont go to ..
Good Luck..
Thank's Renee
I will follow your advice and avoid webpages that include photos or videos.

Yep, I agree.
You would be surprised the number of apps attempting to contact the Internet in the background. You could install 'Advanced Task Killer' (free version from the Android Market) and check if the RAM is running low prior to streaming a video.
