Quick question about development. - PAC Q&A

Okay, I successfully built for the Nexus 5 and was wondering if I could release it into the wild for those to impatient to wait in the Official build like me? I haven't already due to the fact I didn't want to step on any toes, especially those of Devs I respect so much.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

No. If you release it right now, we'll have to close down your thread. And we clearly said that in our build script. So please don't do it.
Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Sorry, I started the build right before I went to sleep and when I had woke up me wife had closed terminal so I didn't see that if I had I wouldn't have asked, I'm not a person that would ignore a message like that if I had saw it. Once again sorry and I'll definitely keep the build to myself.

Does anyone know which rom included cornerstone?

To all developers
I think cornerstone is the most important feature in tablet that distinguish tablet from our smartphones
So, could anyone can build cornerstone into a customed rom
And the code is opened for everybody
HTML:

It's buggy no one's going to use it. It's basically abandonware.

Not really a helpful response is it? It would have been better just to ignore.
You could try the Android Development forum.
Cornerstone roms are typically done by Team EOS, but I don't know that they've done one for the nexus.
It's not really all that helpful though when I've tried it. I prefer just using the recent apps button.

Huh? It was a comment on how many people ignore the rules of this forum and how its getting a little out of hand..
Anyways now that this is in the right section, I believe cornerstone is a dying effort since it doesn't seem to be very well optimized, i think it needs to be restarted from the ground up, also noting that the original team seems to have abandoned jt
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
So cornerstone has to be abandoned.
Does anyone know that is it possible to work like the multi screen function of Note 10.1?
It should be helpful that tablet can have a real multitasking function.

4.1.2 update

I never got a update to the 4.1.2 version. Are we going to get it? did any of the rom developers release the new update yet, if so what one do i download? right now I'm running factory stock rooted.

Short on time? Seriously? It took me 15 seconds to find an answer for you. It probably took longer than that for you to create this thread. They have a search bar for a reason.

Just my 2 cents, yes people are here to help. But there are already 5000 threads about the update
I just downloaded the new 4.1.2 stock images for nexus7 that Google released on the googles developers site where you download all the images to whatever device you have.

IF ANYONE ASKS A QUESTION THAT IS ANSWERED IN THIS OP, I WILL REPORT YOU AND SUGGEST/REQUEST A 24 HOUR BAN.
We do not have time to answer the same questions a million times. It is highly annoying and clutters the thread. Any questions you have has more than likely been answered.
As of this time, no custom kernels can be used unless you have never updated to the OTA MF3. If you are on a system without a blown qfuse, you can have a custom kernel on your stock ROM and it will stay with your other ROMs, if you are on OTA MF3, you cannot flash any kernels. Do not attempt to do so.
Also, at this time, only TW based ROMs will work with SS. CM, AOSP, AOKP, MIUI, etc will not work.

Very promising. It would take a few tweaks of the Apk to get us up and running with it. Myself and another member both brought up a similar method for this and were shot down by a few members saying it wouldn't work. Well looky here... It seems to be a very viable option.

No Eta, but it looks like a couple weeks for VZW. Shouldn't be too much more time for us.
I really only need it for multi-boot. I would like to see if it is possible to run the ROM slots from the external SD. I have a 64gb just sitting in my phone doing nothing. Lol

Very real. It isn't exactly what we wanted or need, but it will definitely keep development on the phone up until we find out a way to unlock the bootloaders and keep our community on the phone as well. I have seen too many people give up a great phone and take a huge downgrade because of not being able to install ROMs.

If it works as intended, it should be a very good alternative and still allow people to flash custom ROMs to their phones. Though, I wonder, how many ROMs can be placed on a phone with the storage size limitations. 3 slots will be available, but it will be shared space, so no necessarily 3 ROMs (or even 2) will fit on the phone. A lot of things will just have to be answered after the APK becomes available.
I also cringe at the thought of everyone trying to use this without learning and reading. Can you imagine all of the ,"Guys, I bricked my phone..." threads multiplied by X. There isn't enough room in the entirety of XDA to hold the ignorance.
Anyway, this should be interesting.
I read the 4 slots will be available. Either way, I am excited. No joke about that. Too any stupid people to handle...

Just got mine four days ago, sadly pre-loaded with MF3. Root has kept me satisfied, but looking forward to a safestrap option. Gotta agree though, the amount of idgets that will be fragging thier phone due to a deliberate lack of reading and research will be staggering. After all this time keeping up with my Nexus 7 and i727, nothing surprises me. I just look at it as electronic natural selection.
But back on topic, I also read 4 rom slots. But each has 3 data partition size options. Might have been where the confusion was.

I agree, well guess it's back to work on My Deadly Venom Rom for SG4!
Looks like Hash is getting some progress, but he's trying to get a splashscreen to show up solution so it boots with it always!
This is impressive! It is innovative and a great alternative to flashing ROM's. Like Loki it looks like you won't have to worry about unlocking the bootloader entirely because this will serve the same purpose. I'm also interested in the prospect of flashing multiple ROM drives. I love AOKP as much as I love Alpha ROM so I go back and forth but if I can flash both and have a simple selection on boot that would be insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hash is great at what he does. Just take a look at the Kindle fire 2 section. Everything there is because of his safe strap genius.

Even when good news is on the horizon some of you guys still have to be negative. Can we at least get the process up and running before you guys start jumping on the people who bricked their phones. Not interest in a verbal fight but damn can we enjoy the positive progress for a few minutes before the brick police start patrolling the forums.

[Q] 4.4.2 Root without unlock

I've poured through the threads and have not been able to find anyone who has given *explicit* instructions on how to root the Nexus 10 running 4.4.2 without unlocking the bootloader. I found methods for 4.3* and 4.2*, but nothing for 4.4.2 yet.
I'm sure I'm being an idiot and not digging deep enough, but in an effort to save myself some time I'm asking you good folks if you might help a desperate soul.
Thanks in advance.
Edited to add: I run Mac OS X and Ubuntu (13.04). I do not currently have access to a Windows License nor do I want to pay for one. This is relevant because I did come across Wugfresh's toolkit, which, while awesome looking, is Windows only.
If this is the only solution, for those who have experience, how does it run via Wine?
Why do you not want to unlock the bootloader?

Part because it isn't necessary for my purposes and part because I don't really want to deal with backing up, wiping and restoring (aka laziness). I just want SU access to my file system.
Admitting to laziness is not something you should be doing. Anyways, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003938

You're obviously a better technologist than I am... But are you a better philosopher?
Let's start with a question: why is admitting to laziness not something I should be doing?
And two more:
1. Would it have been better for me to bs a response to get what I wanted from you without the scolding?
2. Did I ask for your opinion on my values?
I'm not here to argue about philosophy, I said what I said based on the rules of the forums, I found that link in two searches, you've made your account to ask this one question, did the link help or is there still an issue?

The link did not help. I had found that thread before. Last page you can see that it is outdated beyond 4.3, and there's no indication that it is suitable for 4.4 let alone 4.4.2.
No I don't think there's a way. Ncry toolkit used to be able to but he stopped updating so it won't work in KitKat. You'll have to unlock I'd you want to do it unless there away I'm unaware of
