Phone won't wake during call - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Anyone having the same issue I'm having? During a normal call my phone won't wake when I remove it from my ear. Even if I push the home button or power button it won't turn on at all. This is a problem especially when I want to end the call or select different options. It seems like the phone is still up against my ear and the touch screen is not active. I don't know of this is a proximity sensor problem software problem. Any help is much associated. Thank you in advance.

Try to clean the proximity sensor.
And type this on your dialer *#0*# to check if there is an issue.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I did the test and seems like it's working. Even during the test Sometimes it still doesn't turn off on its own. Any other suggestions? I doubt it right.

Proximity sensor doesnt seem to work on Sony X10

I have noticed a prob, that the proximity sensor doesnt turn off the screen during phone call. Anybody knows any ideas of how to fix this prob. Is the screen supposed to turn off when the device detects our ears or cheek once we start talking? I hav been accidently touching the endcall myself a lot of times without purpose. Thank you very much in advance^^

This has been told many times!! Do a search before, please
Proximity sensor on X10, DOES NOT turn off the screen. It just disable tochpad when the phone is close to your face. The screen turns off according to the time you have set in screen settings, and turns on again when you take the phone away from your ear. (Well, nearly always, sometimes it just don't work fine, at least for me.)
regards
Well I did a search and already figured out that it wont turn off the screen but only disable the touchpad, however mine one doesnt even turn the touchpad off, i did many times accidently touching the endcall button on screen, weird...

You can do a little test, place your phone on the table and call a number and then use your finger to cover the proximity sensor. Now try to touch the endcall and see if its disable. If it doesn't disable it then its off to the service center. Good Luck.

There is an option to test that too in the hidden menu, but I just can't find it. Don't remember how to get to that hidden menu. Anybody?

In Lockscreen type:
Menu Back Back Menu
Back Menu Menu Back
Then Service Test -> Proximity Switch
Then place your finger over the sensor and it should change from Off to On

yup... the problem is that even if the service menu test claims that the sensor is working, the R2 updates seem to have dialer application which doesn't seem to be using it properly.
Like I tried with my R2BA023 update and I cannot get the proximity sensor to trigger while making or receiving a call...

Ending calls from nexus is difficult as the phone shows me the control menu instead o

Ending call a call on my nexus 4 is difficult as the screen shown to me when i pull the phone from my ear is the control menu instead of call the call window. I have clicked the icon in settings to use the power button.... But thus to me doesn't seem the right answer for what's really a problem. Certainly coming from using an iPhone not having the call screen to end calls when you pull the phone from your face does seem silly to me
Any ideas what I should do?

I have no idea what you mean by "control menu."
When I pull the phone away from my ear there is a dialer pad and a big red button to end the call.
The "control menu" isn't the right word for it... I think its called the status menu. Its menu you pull down with one or two fingers.
It does it every time.

i think its just the way you put the phone on your ear
Really? I actually don't know what to say... Maybe I should ask how am I supposed to hold the phone.
I put it up to my ear it goes black whilst I am on the phone and then I pull the phone from my ear it still black then a few seconds later it wakes up and shows me that control/status pull down screen.

That's odd. Never heard of this happening. Maybe try a factory reset?

I also want to add that it works normally if I don't make a connection ie someone doesn't answer the call. Only when the call is answered dies this happen.

same weird problem here, running faux kernel.
Are you sliding the phone around on your face or something? Are there things protruding from your face/head that are hitting home or back? What the heck?

Proximity sensor

Just updated my firmware to MJ6 and everything is great apart from when I make a call and press the call button the screen immediately goes off and I have to press the home button to reactivate the screen this didn't happen on previous firmwares so I'm wondering if it's a bug other people are experiencing. ?

Loud Speaker button in S-View

Hello,
Only had the phone a day and I don't know if it's just me but I've noticed that when I use the S-View case with my Note, if I am on a call the loudspeaker button doesn't actually put it on loudspeaker. It doesn't really matter in one way as i can open the cover and press the button but it's a shame it doesn't seem to work.
Is it just me.... what are other people's experience of it ?
I'm on Kit Kat.
