Battery drain from Android System - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do you also have this?
The consuption related to Android System seems to be mainly due to LGE Gravity Sensor.

It's the knock on feature that causes that "drain"

isnt the knock on "com.lge.doubletap" ?

@Carter07
Which app is that you use for monitoring battery usage?
Edit:
Nevermind, already found it.
Thanks

Unfortunately I still see Android System draining battery.
Tested from a full charged battery.

Disable the knock-on feature and try again.

Yep that's the solution.
Tried it yesterday and "drain" from Android OS went down immediately

I see I slight difference when I disabled the movement settings. Yes. Knock on keeps the sensors on and uses the juice.
I don't care cuz I love the feature. One if my main reasons buying G2

N7 Unstable Brightness?

I am using a stock Nexus 7 with Android 4.2.1
I never use automatic brightness; and when I use the lowest brightness, the backlight kind of vibrates a lot.
When I increase the brightness it becomes more stable.
I have made a factory reset, and reloaded my apps and setting with my backup application, yet the problem continues. I don't remember this happening before 4.2.1, but I am not really sure.
Any idea/suggestion is appriciated.
Thanks.

I will try it, but i heard that it might reduce the performance and drain battery.
What else might there be to try?
Anyone had a similar problem?
Rma it, sounds like the back light is starting to go out I had that same problem on a phone of mine and the back light ended up going out a couple weeks after it did the whole stutter thing

I don't think it does.
How can I do that hw overlay?
Do I have to root first? because I searched the forum and I couldn't find the android preferences setting file.
i think you have the screen flickering problem
is it flickering like in this video?
maybe you should take a look

Does anyone use Smart Stay?

I'm on the fence about leaving smart stay on? It only seems to work sometime, and I can't tell whether it is killing my battery or not. Just curious if anyone out there is using it?

I have been keeping it on, but it doesnt work very well for me thus far. If you look away for more than a sec or so and then look back it will still shut the screen off. I havent noticed battery drain though.
I turned off Smart Stay and all the other "Smart" features, they rarely ever work properly. For instance, Smart Stay requires that I stare at the sensor for the screen to stay on. In addition, now that I have a case with a lip on the front of the phone, I think the lip interferes with the sensor and none of the Smart features have worked since.
I use it. It doesn't work 100% of the time but enough to leave it on.
I've used S3, S4, and now Note 3, and I've always enabled it. I never realize how much I've depended on it until I got the Nexus 7, which didn't have this feature. The Nexus 7 would always dim the screen when I'm browsing/reading something. So good job to Samsung. They made a feature that is not only useful, but also transparent.

Same here. The notification "eye" annoys me a bit, but that's bc @beanstown106 roms spoiled me haha
I never used it with my Note 2, honestly never even knew it was there
I didn't like the screen dimming all the time, I do read a lot on my phone so have it enabled for that purpose makes it worthwhile to me.

It does not seem to work for me, probably because I wear glasses. I disabled it after a week and did not notice any difference.

Anyone got the rear LED working with Lightflow?

Anyone figured out how to get the rear power button LED working with lightflow or similar? Lightflow controls the front LED nicely, and I've played with controlling the other LED's with it, but none of them work, and I'm not sure which is supposed to be the rear LED. It would be really cool to get it to flash for texts and such.
Are you referring to this or something more detailed?

I have that checked, but it doesn't do anything, at least for me. Front LED works great, no luck on the rear one. Does yours work? I'm on CM11
That's for "button back light" meaning the light behind the front buttons not "back button light". Big difference there.
Sent from my LG-G2 using Tapatalk
Thanks for clarifying. I actually wondered about that. But I couldn't figure out what difference it would make my checking it. I never have my phone facing down to really care what the light on the back button is doing anyway. Lol

Crap, I knew there was a reason I didn't originally have that checked. I'm dumb, lol.
Anyway, as far as the "non controled" LED's listed at the bottom, anyone have any luck getting them to work
I like having my phone upsidedown sometimes.

I had that working on my HTC DNA..yes it has also a back LED! But now on the G2 it seems that lightflow has no control on it

I'm on CM 11 and it seems like the light turns on when i get a call and SOMETIMEs when I get a text but thats it.
i would like the rear light button on the back to act exactly as if i was in stock.
Well I tried it out and bought the pro version of light flow and to say I'm dissapointed. The control of the back light does work but it doesn't pulse or pulse slowly on and off. the power button light just stays lit.

You have to go to settings go all the way down the page and it should be listed in additional LEDs as button blacklight. I enabled 1 and 2 because I think I enabled just one and half of the button lit up when I enabled both the button was fully lit

"Ok Google" Anywhere breaks video recording.

Just in case you weren't already aware. The "OK Google" hot word detection apparently breaks the ability to record video. It makes the camera app think your on a call. Kinda crazy. I hope it's something on the Google end and they fix it. I was using it for the last day and LOVED it!

Are you sure Google should fix this? Seems to me more like lg job (or our mod devs). The Google camera video recording works. Anyway thanks for the info!

I've found the issue is with on screen phone. Turn off on screen phone and OK Google hot word detection works but no video recording with stock camera app (the Google camera app will record). Turn on screen phone on and video recording works fine but OK Google hot word stops working. Very strange.

Semi on topic, but this also breaks the alarm when the phone is plugged in. The phone thinks that you are on a phone call, so it doesn't let the alarm fire with sound.

It's not strange really. Always listening makes the phone think you're in a phone call. Alarms don't go off when you're talking on the phone. This is an oversight in design.

Question about fingerprint scanner

So if you jailbreak iPhone 5s/6/6plus you can unlock the phone by just putting your finger on the home button without unlocking the screen. Is it possible with some tool in Samsung Galaxy s5 by just swiping the pad without turning the screen on making the phone unlock?
Thanks for answers

Yes its a very awesome feature and I think its possible if some dev looks into it. I dont have S5 atm but I am considering buying the phone if this is possible
As of right now, there is no mod that allows this. but i'm sure sooner or later some dev will get it to work, as the posters above me have already said.

It will take a hit on the battery since this feature will be emulated through software since the hardware restricts it. For that to happen we have to modify the kernel to make the cpu stay awake at all times at low power. It's just like the Double tap to wake feature that is also sort of "emulated".
