If I have to get a network unlock code from some site in the internet, which ones do you recommend that are reliable? would using a unlock code alter my knox flag?

Hi folks,
I am familiar with the i9500 s4 which I own and mess with. However I also acquired the SGH-I337M model which is locked to the rogers network and I'd like to just unlock the sim.
I ended up just purchasing the unlock code for the i9500 from cell unlocker as it was still early days with the S4 and other methods found on xda weren't working..
Can anyone provide me with a known working guide to sim unlocking this model?
Also, will flashing a custom rom - TW or CM based unlock the sim?

However, others that will post that might not give you this warning...
Read through the entire thread before you touch anything! There are possible risks with the method and you need to read about them so you can make an informed decision about if you want to try it or not. If you choose to not read the entire thread or take precautions, it's up to you.
Searching through the "general" and Q&A forums for "unlock" should show you others threads that you might want to read as well. Good luck.
Oh, and flashing other ROMs will not sim unlock the phone.

All seems like different variations of what to select in service mode.. I tried similar service mode steps with the i9500 and never got anywhere so just bought the unlock code... Will keep digging..

Cannot get a pic.. its tiny ass writing on that screen.
On Settings > About Device > Status > Device Status.. it is saying 'Custom'
but once you factory reset and remove towelroot and supersu it does return to 'Official'
I am okay with this because this will never update to 4.4.2..
Straight Talk with never update this phone.. but I guess if I did factory reset then I could update.
Staying with Factory Recovery.
Working smooth with no fast battery drain and 4G speed.

Did you even read the posts before you? Clearly says to use geohots towel root app. Install super su from market once completed.

Make sure you have unknown sources checkmarked in settings>more>security>unknown sources and just mark thr box next to it.. Then reinstall towelroot

I found TWRP and a 4.4.2 custom ROM with Superuser Pre-installed that works with the SM-S975L and created a guide to install it.. ENJOY!

I also have a straight talk s4 and towel root says it doesn't support this phone I tried the Chinese root and it installed superuser but it wont work either because of knox help pleass

I need some help Sim unlocking my new Samsung Galaxy s5 european edition (SM-G900F). I assumed it would be a similar process to sim unlocking my S3 but i cant find anything which works. I am currently locked to EE and i need it to work with Vodafone.
The only xda thread for it i can find is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717361 but the first step doesnt even work to get into debug service menu via the dialer.
Do any of the old sim unlocker apps still work after people have testest like voodoo sim unlock http://project-voodoo.org/android-apps ?
Could some one help me get my phone sim unlocked ?
note. i still havent rooted the phone as i have read that it needs to be stock for the sim unlock process to work.

Since you have not rooted, there is no way to launch the secret codes.
If you have rooted, you can use my app Phone INFO ★Samsung★ --> enter the menu 'Secret Codes' to launch the secret codes.

You didn't search very hard as there are literally dozens, if not hundreds of S5 SIM unlock threads. In short, there is no known free method. The old methods for the S3/S4 do not work on the S5. You can read more here which is just one of many threads on the subject.
You will have to pay a third party vendor (Ebay, et al) to unlock your SIM if your carrier won't provide you with an unlock code. And as you might expect, most carriers will not.

You have to purchase it (online), or it you don't want to pay you can request it from Samsung by following this guide (if you are lucky)

You'll need to downgrade to Android 4.2.2 in order to do this, if you're not already on 4.2.2.
Root using CF-Autoroot.
Install RegionLock Away and run it.
That should remove your SIM lock. Then install the current ROM for your device, twice.

RegionLock Away may not work for the 9500. I have a 9505, so I can't give you any insight into what is or isn't happening. If however, it doesn't work, then you may have no choice but to purchase an unlock code. Especially if the Service Menu trick isn't working for you either.

Unlocking your device via Service Mode no works since android 4.3. Buy one code and unlock it by IMEI.
