Official 4.4.2 SM9005 (UK) Root | CWM - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Have searched but cannot find anything similar...
Odin flashed 4.4.2, rooted and CWM installed no issues. All good.
Installed Nova and UCCW started theming things up (widgets only), all good.
Suddenly today I noticed that when I press my power button no shortcuts appear (shutdown, restart etc.), but then after 2/3 seconds the phone reboots??
In CWM wiped cache, no effect...any takers?
Thanks,
Kam

this is not something wrong in cache it s bug in rom
u should flash another ROM use for while without root and then if no problem appear root it and check.
:good:

OK I had thought about re - flashing.
So advice on this front:
If I just go into download right now and flash stock 4.4.2 once again, does it do any wipes? Will I lose anything? What the root status be - rooted/un-rooted etc.

reflashing stock won't wipe any data. - you will lose root though unless you go the Mobile Odin pro way.

Do you guys factory reset after flashing CM?
The best way to install is to flash Official CWM recovery from their website (Google Clockworkmod), download .img file and flash with SGS4 FLASHER from Play Store.
Boot to recovery
Go to mounts and storage
format system, data, cache. (make sure you've done a backup of current ROM before doing ths)
Then flash CyanogenMod ROM
Then factory reset
Then reboot
You should be fine
If you get stuck on splash screen it's cool, Just hold power down and try again. You may need to keep doing this till you see CyanogenMod boot animation. I've had to do it 4 times before it would finally boot. It's normal though just something weird with CM10.2 kernel. If you flash a custom kernel it boots fine everytime

Yeah i always factory reset before a fresh install of a rom. So the file is actually 200mb then? Seems a bit strange to me.

I never had problems installing CM.
I have Phil CWM.
I used the option to wipe for a clean install from the CWM and then installed the zip and after that reboot.
I am on cm 10.1.3 RC2 and all is good
I use phil cwm !! I try all the possible ways to format stuff im flashing roms about 4 years now and know how to flash them... But this CM10.2 just doesnt work for me !! I even used twrp but just doesnt work... Once this thing came afater flashin , it was updating apps and after that got stock on starting apps

Root suddenly lost on reboot, 4.3 stock

Running stock 4.3 MK9, bootloader MJ5.
Experienced at least 10 times, that root is suddenly lost on reboot.
Have to reroot with CWM.
Any ideas to why this is happening?
Knox disabled.

Already installed as system app.

Strange thing is that it happened a lot one month ago after upgrade to 4.3, then worked fine for a long time, now happened twice in two days..

try to root using dr.ketan multitool
Hmm, still not solved, and actually getting worse, now I loose root quite often on reboot, not every time however..
Supersu is kept, but reports binary missing.
Rerooting with cwm/philz, but this also only occasionally works, sometimes having to reroot 4 times to get it to work.
When succesfully rooted, supersu installed as system app, but does not help..
Cannot get drketans multitool working - hangs after pressing next (sometimes before that).
Edit: got multitool basic to work, advance version crashes, but the basic version works. Rooting with this did not work however, still missing binary on reboot.
Any suggestions to what could be the culpritt here?

Okay so, different rom, same bootloader.
Do you use any of the following: avast antivirus, wanam xposed module, afwall+ ?
Have you frozen or deleted knox?
Using philz recovery?
Mine did not really do this until after having installed mj5 bootloader, but with the old 4.1.2 bootloader I experienced a lot of sudden reboots and force closes.
Dont know if it could be the bootloader causing the root problem. Or knox still doing something at boot?

Strange, flash back to stock via Odin, then install TWRP or PhilZ advanced CWM and try again - could just be a bad CWM install
Could also be the roms are corrupted...
If you have wifi at home try downloading directly to the phone instead of PC. Might be the problem...

Indeed.. And always verify the size of the downloaded file against the one usually posted on the download page.
Additionally.. I would have to concur about using TWRP. It has never failed me.

Once you have rooted your phone, you have to delete a file in system, wich overwrites the custom recovery with the original. But i don't remember wich file it is. I think Google know it.:cyclops:
EDIT: I found it: you need a root Explorer. Go to system/etc and delete "install-recovery.sh"
After that, flash a custom recovery. Now it should work.
What also helps sometimes is to uncheck "auto-reboot" in Odin.
When the flashing is finished, you just hold the power button for 10 sec (until it reboots).

I recommend you better TWRP or Philz Recovery. Flashing custom recoveries don't wipe your device :highfive:
No. Flashing recoveries will not wipe your device., but it will trip knox to 0x1. This will void your warranty.
I also recommend TWRP. I couldn't flash CWM recovery. I did, but it just booted into the stock recovery instead of CWM. So I flashed TWRP.
Now that i rooted my phone, sometimes after im dome using it, when i hit the power button to off the sceeen, the phone randomly reboots. It Just straight away goes to the samsung spinning logo and then goes to the homescreen. But during the reboot it doesnt play the song and it doesnt go to the screen that says samsung galaxy s4 gt i9505. It's like its a quick reboot idk. This has happened three times now. Is there a way to fix this?

Flash the latest firmware for your device for solve your problems.
Where do i get the latest firmware from? And i dont know which is the latest one. Also will this remove root?

And has flashing the latest firmware removed this problem for other people?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
Is this happening because of something called knox? Also can you explain what will happen after i flash the latest firmware? Will i lose root?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
Amazing!
Hi, I have the same problem.
I do a wipe reset and a root: root is not working.
I removing root and make some root tentatives:
In Windows (Odin): not working
In Linux (motoshopper): not working
I have the XXUGNG8 and I don't understand why since this update, I can't root again!
Do you have an idea please?
If your talking about the random reboots, it happened to me because i let supersu app disable knox. After that the random reboots started. I fixed that by unfreezing the apps through titanium backup. For me 2 apps called knox notification manager and migration agent were frozen so i unfroze them through titanium backup. Then the random reboots stopped
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
After that you have to remove all the knox files in your phone. Check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514703
However, DO NOT delete a file called libknox_encryption.so otherwise your phone will not boot up.
