[HARD BRICK ?] - I919x - Make your debrick.img and have it on extSdCard by security - Galaxy S 4 Mini General

Hi People
We all must have the debrick.img on our extSdCard by security. If we have a Hard Brick we can make like this examples solved whit success.
See two HARD BRICK's solved. I have sending them the debrick.img:
This whit a Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600869 . One Mega 6.3" I9205.
And this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2624203 . One Note3 N9005 whit Kitkat 4.4.2.
The method is the same for all Samsung devices that have a Pit file on partition mmcblk0.
The principal Thread for this work is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367 Thanks @KAsp3rd
See also this to create the debrick.img: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45725480&postcount=45 Thanks @DocHoliday77
T999 is a example. This Mod work whit Pit.file partition mmcblk0. This is same on all Samsung devices I think. I only change to I9195_Partial_sys...
If You flashed a new Pit file or Updated by OTA (that can bring one), make new debrick.img . From 4.2.2 to 4.3 also.
PS: All People, make your debrick.img and have it on extSdCard by security.
Flash this by Recovery. Saved on Internal Sdcard. Copy it to extSdCard.
(Whit the usual Recovery from @arco68 Dev, the debrick.img is on /data/media.
Whit the Recovery from @Phil3759 is on /sdcard or /storage/sdcard0.

See this Guide made by a member that had a device bricked and I have sending him my debrick.img:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600869
On PC we make a MicroSD (16 or 32 GB) whit Win32DiskImager.exe using the debrick.img. After created this Microsd that have many partitions hidden for Windows but not for the device, We insert it on Bricked phone, press start and begin something to give life to it. Because the debrick.img was made from Pit file I think that is re-writed the PIT and after we have Download Mode and can use Odin.
But see the Thread father from this process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367 Thanks @KAsp3rd

OK, now it's clear I think: When phone is hard bricked and says something like QHSUSB_DLOAD when you turn it on, you can save it using the image on sdcard. Is that right?
Another question: What size the dump image will have when I flash your update package in CWM ?

Hi
It is on /data/media, the debrick.img is there. On 4.1.2 /data/media is the internal sdcard but on 4.2.2 whit the option multiuser the configuration from it is different (the place depends from the Recovery used).
It arrived to me also. Not seen debrick.img on internal sdcard. Not remember that. I flashed the Recovery from Phil3759 and it work to normal sdcard..
Now I use this Recovery, I like it. See it here:

I had to use FX file explorer to find the debrick.img file. Used the search option. Don't remember where it was, you could't find it browsing the emulated storage (that's how the phone mounts the internal media in Android 4.2.2)

[Q]Update fixed Clockworkmod isn't working

Update fixed the SD was broken I don't exactly know why but it explains everything so thanks for all your help and sorry for not being very
clear.
Hi I'm having issues with clockworkmod.
See the problem is while trying to flash cyanogen mod I was getting the endless loop so I kept
at it until I managed to flash it. The problem is I flashed Cm6.1.0 so easy fix right? Well I thought so too until clockworkmod wouldn't find the zip. So I tried nandroid and it again couldn't find any zip so I checked the partitions menu and clockworkmod had mounted the
Sd card and the cache. So I unmounted both and still nothing so I looked at the setting's again and it remounts the cache and sometimes the Sd card. Well my problem is worsened by
the fact that the version of cyanogen mod that did flash doesn't have the market or flash.
Any help will be welcome. HTC aria.

With CM 6, the Market is in the GoogleApps zip which must be installed after the ROM.
Also Flash 10.x does not run on the Aria; the CPU is not supported by Adobe.
Well clockworkmod won't find any zip not even nandroid and so my problem deepens so now can't get the market crap.

Some of your terminology in your post is very confusing. First of all, ClockworkMod will only find ZIP files that are copied to the root directory of your SD card. If you copied them to a folder on your SD card, CWM will not find them.
Second, Nandroid is a backup and restore utility and it does not use ZIP files. It creates backup folders on the SD card under /clockworkmod/backup and contains image files of the various partitions on your phone.
So what is the exact state of your phone? You stated that you have flashed CM 6.1? If you boot your phone normally, does CM 6 start up and are you able to use your phone? In order to install gapps.zip file to get the Market app, copy the gapps.zip file to the root of your SD card and see if ClockworkMod can install it. BTW, in CWM you are select "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard", right?

Thanks for correcting my misinformation. I guess the root location only applies to "update.zip", right?
Yup. And it actually must be named "update.zip"
Oh crap I just formated the boot partition and now my phone won't boot at all!
It still won't find any zip. What now? Is there any way to restore clockworkmod?

Are you copying the zip files from your PC to the sd card? Have you tried downloading a ROM zip file directly to your SD card using your phone's browser?
I have exactly the same problem...Clockwork will not see any .zip files....even tried mounting usb storage from cwm, it mounts and the zips are there, yet it can not find any of them when i try to find them (all are in the root of the sdcard)...any ideas?
So if you pick "choose zip from SD" you can't manually pick a zip?
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Found a solution:
1. Get SD card formatter from HERE
2. Plugin your phone (as USB drive), start up the application and format the card (default options selected) NOTE: backup your SD card to your PC first (obviously)
3. Unplug the phone (or put it into charge mod, whatever)
4. The phone should now try (and fail) to mount the card...go to the SD options and format the card using the phone function
The .zip files should now be visible in ClockworkMod Recovery (it worked for me and a few others as far as i know)

Aver recovery installer installs cwm, and allows you to go back to stock recovery system instead of cwm as well.
Ok that explains but where I can find cwm folder with saved image.

[App] Partition you're sdcard

I found this app that partitions you're sdcard. Yes i know CWM does this in recovery but with this app there's no need to go into recovery as it works straight from you're phone. At the moment it only partitions Fat32, Ext4 and Swap but if you're a developer maybe you could update it. Tested it on my sdcard and it worked with no errors or issues. lnfo bit.ly/NJwHK6 Download link bit.ly/QbC1Me

[q] cwm backup /restore

Hello.
I've had my SGS 4 (I9500) for about 10 days, and have some problems (not critical but anoying), I don't know if they are related.
1) I use a microSD of 64 GB, the same I was using in my previous SGS 3 without any problem. In the SGS 4, sometimes the microSD is reported as damaged (even at boot, or during usage). It has happend several times, and fixed with a reboot. When this happends, the microSD can't be readed by the file explorer (neither ES explorer or Solid Explorer). I have formatted the microSD with the SGS 4, but didn't help.
2) I can't mount, format neither backup on the microSD from Recovery, even using Recovery that claim "backup / restore folders fixed". I need to backup on external SD in order to free the little space available on the internal SD!!
3) I can't find the folder where the backups made from Recovery are! Recovery says the path is sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, but I browse to that path in Solid Explorer, and it only has one file: .recovery_version. (I have activated the option "show hidden files"). I need to find these folders for at least move/copy the backup files to my PC, if I can't store them on the external SD.
At the beginning, I thought it was a generic problem of the SGS 4 that would be fixed with custom kernels or ROMs, but so far nothing has helped!
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Javier.

NV_DATA must be secured also, they are included in other partition, they are not included in efs partition so make a backup for them see this.
Hello guys.
Can anybody help me with the external SD issues? :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance.
Solution to Recovery access to external SD
As I thought, the issue with the Recovery access to external SD was solved with a new version of Recovery. The Cofface Recovery V 2.0 made the magic! :victory:
I thought this would solve the issues with the esternal SD in general, but I keep having the error "SD is damaged", and when I try to mount it, it is detected as empty. I let the phone alone, and some minutes later the SD card is detected and mounted itself. :silly:
I hope this to be a release problem, and be eventually solved with new versions of kernels or ROMs. :fingers-crossed:

correct path for deleting cwm backup files
... thanks, with your help I was finally able to delete my unneeded image.zip backup file that was not recognized by the recovery / mod manager clean up tool. Some other posts suggested to reach it under /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup which is basically correct for accessing it, but even with root permission you are never allowed to delete it there (symlinks?). However, /data/media/clockworkmod was finally the correct path to physically remove it :victory:
