You would need to change the entire front screen to actually fix the problem !! However if you don't want to spend the amount (in my country its around 80 dallars) you can download switchr app from play store !! It helps you to switch and kill apps just like the recents button. If the other buttons also don't work like the home and back ull need to root your phone and download LMT launcher from the market. It is almost like pie control which you find on ParanoidAndroid .
Kindly hit the Thanks button if you find my post useful

Okay i went to repair shop and they quoted me $300 which is bit expensive since i could put a little bit more and get the nexus 5 but i want to spend the minimum amount possible and have a phone that works.. So what exactly do i need to buy to fix it ? do i need to buy the lcd or the touch screen ? or are there more parts that i need to get because i want to know what it might add up to for all the parts that are needed.
Also i don't think the switchr app would solve my problem because basically any app or button that is in that area, i can not use since that area of the screen is unresponsive. I'm assuming something to do with the touchscreen is broken over there ? in that bottom right area of the screen that i showed in the earlier picture i attached. I can stilll use the phone because the rest of the area is still normal, but i dont know how long it will be for since its cracked and could spread. and at times if there is something in that area that i need to access, for example certain parts of the keyboard or an app, i rotate the screen and that way i can still use it though some apps do not rotate at all and that makes things impossible.

No rotate to the right?

I'm left handed and when I want to turn it landscape I turn the phone to the right but it doesnt rotate to the right It does rotates to the left..
Is something wrong with my phone or does this happen to everyone else
Think it only works one way. I'm left handed too and haven't noticed any particular need to turn it to the right.. I'm used to phones behaving that way I guess.
If you're lounging in a chair holding the phone at an angle you'll be glad that it doesn't suddenly rotate on you when you least expect it..
Yeah, i'm a southpaw. I would love if it rotated to the right and left.
anyone know if Open Home or any of the other home replacement apps supports rotate in all directions?
The Android OS doesn't support a rotate to the right, no home screen can change this.
Individual apps can support it (see bebbled) if they program for it, but it's a hack.

Motorola has it enabled by default on the CLIQ, not sure about droid.
It's very possible and should be part of the core.
Was playing with my friend's iPhone last night - it does it.
I too am a southpaw, would be nice. But I don't find it annoying or anything.

Android 2.1 Wish/Looking For List

Hello!
I've just moved to Android 2.1, coming from WinMo (HD2 Flashed WM6.5.x). I spent many long hours, tweaking just about everything in order to get the look I wanted. I was told by many, that I would have no problem doing all the same on the Evo and even much more. So I'm in love with my Evo experience so far and have no plans to go back to WinMo even though I was happy with it.
All weekend, I've searched high and low. Ran through nearly a hundred apps out of a list of 150 and growing. Yet here I am still trying to find a few types of apps and mods.
IS THERE:
1. An app like ListPro which is the best Windows Mobile general list keeping app ever made. I'm looking for an app to create general lists of all types, with custom fields and so on. And furthermore, having a desktop app that syncs with it, is also high on the list. Being able to enter data on a desktop and sync it all with great ease, to a matching mobile app, is something I would pay dearly for.
2. On the HTC Evo, the Sense home screen is okay but could really use a touch of xda Co0kies Home Tab. Looking, but can't find any such app. Recently, I downloaded nearly 200 analog clocks for the HD2 Sense home screen. Where are the Android custom analog clocks?
3. Is it possible to change the color of the top status bar of Android? And also how about the bottom bar? Can we not have wallpaper that extends the entire screen so that the bars match the wallpaper?
4. Can the slide to unlock bar be disabled? Pressing the power button is hard enough to not have to worry about the screen being on when not wanted.
5. How about an on-screen power/sleep icon/button? It would be nice to be able to put the phone to sleep without having to reach for that little power button.
6. What is up with the wallpaper??? At first I thought, well since I love my HTC HD2 wallpaper so much, why don't I just transfer it to my Evo. Sure thing but it ends up being cropped and stretched, no matter what I do. I've read page after page and tried a few different things and can't seem to get it right. I tried using a png image that was 960x800 after first trying the 800x480. I tried holding my finger in the crop screen and sliding the selection area but it will not allow me to select the entire image size. So the Evo Sense has 7 screens but why not just one image displayed in full screen, on each screen? What was Google/HTC thinking?!?!?!
I've searched many forums and I just can't seem to find the answers to these questions so far and so I figure it can't hurt to ask around.
Thanks to jmxp69, an answer for number 4: Freeware app called No Lock in the Android market does the trick. Installing it and then activating it will turn off the slide to unlock screen. Furthermore it makes the volume up/down buttons wake up the Evo, the same as the power button does. So far it looks like it does not effect any of the 4 cap buttons.
You can install Menu Unlock form market [donate] or find it on xda for free. It works for me(I removed HtcLockScreen). I'm not sure I like No Lock yet. It works but it seems like it can be too much. Meaning I don't want it to wake and unlock, just wake from the volume buttons then slide or menu to unlock the screen.
That said I'm trying to get something like trackball wake going that will let the phone just be woke from sleep then you'll need to slide or tap menu.
The other thing I'm looking forward to is full display out on the HDMI. I want to see the home screen and games and anything else on the display.
Thanks but now I'm trying to find a way to only disable the lock screen on wake up and only have it show up when the phone rings. Still looking and hoping to find a way to do this.......

[Q] Nexus 4 Virtual Buttons

First I tried to find some thing like this but I didn't manage to find any posts similar .. the only thing I found is to make your nexus 4 Full Screen.
# What I need is disable virtual buttons ONLY from Home Screen as it have no point in my viewpoint .. make Lock Screen full screen with no black blank space .. and keep the virtual button everywhere else*
im28.gulfup.com/ZIzg1.jpg
im15.gulfup.com/AHzE2.jpg
# Is it possible to make virtual button background transparent as in Motorola*
im15.gulfup.com/oXGy3.jpg
* sorry that I can't post image due to xda restrictions for new users under 10 posts :/
As of now, I don't think it is possible. I would just wait for ROMs to start coming out and hopefully one of the devs will be able to implement such a feature.
full screen toggle apk + LMT 1.5 seems to be working for me.. you have to be rooted to utilize these features

lol I agree
Neither of those apps are working for my phone, at least not gestures. When I hit disable navbar, nothing happens, though it did request root.
What input did you select in LMT?
Edit: Never used these apps before, but I'm assuming the nav removal works as I didn't try rebooting. I did reboot after setting up LMT though, and it still never worked.
I use lmt and full screen and its fine.... but can anyone solve this? its really strange.. touch is fine... but once you put navigations buttons back... they simple dont work.. anyone have a final solution? thanks.

[CLOSED] Completely disabling Nexus 10 touchscreen

I'm setting up a tradeshow display for my company, we're using 3 Nexus 10s in a bent 36"x36" panel. They'll just be looping video, though interactivity may be added to one of them later on. Before I got the Nexus 10s I tested some apps on my Note II that disable the touchscreen because I wanted to prevent anyone from interfering with the looping video.
Unfortunately, I've come to find that while those apps will disable interacting with the main content, it doesn't prevent the Home/Back/etc buttons from working on the bottom bar on the Nexus 10. Additionally, it seems to prevent the video from going completely full screen, leaving the Home/Back/etc icon bar up.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might truly disable the touchscreen once I have video going? Even if it meant requiring a full reboot to restore touch, that would be fine with me, for the most part we'd just set it and forget it. Some way to just crash or disable the touch screen driver? I'm not rooted right now, but I can be if that's what it takes.
Otherwise we'll end up going with clear acrylic overlays with magnets in them for quick access to the screen, that approach is just generally uglier though, and I'd love to avoid it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
what about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266402
then use your existing disable touch program from there?

Perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for. I ended up using a similar app called full!screen that allowed me to specify two touch areas but then make the icons for those tiny/transparent. BSPlayer has a lock so that casual interaction with the device won't do much. From there I can probably fully lock the touchscreen and have it only unlock with a triple tape or messing with a hardware button (only the operator will have access to the buttons, it's mounted inside an enclosure).
You're a hero, chaos. Many thanks to you.

Xperia z3 concept ideas

I am on vacation so please forgive the lack of pictures to show my ideas this vacation has been rather stressy so i am back on my concept ideas and overall ideas.
First we have a design idea i've noticed the frame around my z1 is fairly strong and scratch resistant so i think it could wrap around the entire back of the phone for a single unibody construction it would also eliminate my concern displeasure that the phone is held together by glue at the back, it would also be completely airtight in the back as there would be no opening, I'd assume it would be more durable aswell.
another idea would be remaking the flaps to lock into place when closed to open you press something, or drag something or maybe magnetic locking, but maybe that wouldn't work with the rubber. I also think if possible that the phone could have a water sensor so it knows when it is submerged, where it enters a sticky keys like feature for the screen so you can use it under water so it takes hard presses to register something water wouldn't be capable of, the phone would also know when the flaps are open or closed and instantly warn if it get's in contact with water with one of them open like vibrating constantly and having an alarm with the screen flashing, it may not always save a phone but it would be useful in my opinion as you'll notice before actually submerging the entire phone if the sensor can be located around the frame but then comes the design problem, unless the sensor can be hidden allong the light stripe idea somehow, if not it could be one small sensor, perhaps the sensor could be located inside the flaps.
A special magnetic dock charger that works with all xperia devices that comes with a remote and inbuilt strong speakers with bass, aswell as a screen with multi color backlight indicating charge time music playing etc would be worth alot aswell too me, I'd pay 200 for something like that.
Lastly I have some more ui ideas they are more personal wishes though
First the notification bar as you know, fills up rather quickly with icons for each app notifying you resulting in it being completely full often, so my idea is simple, one icon with a number next too it showing how many apps that are notifying you, or simply a number.
I also want to be able to hide any notification bar icons for example i don't always need to know the reception I'd rather have that in the drop down menu i would only want it to show when there's one or two bars or simply as a warning on bad reception.
Then theres the softkeys theres alot of ideas and changes I want to make as you know the apps icon replacing the home icon on the home screen, but then theres the back and recent apps button, First off a back button in the home screen does nothing it just sits there it dosnt even turn the phone off it simply sits there filling up space, so here's a few ideas, unless Google are the only ones to be able to do such changes, or if there's a rule against such changes.
1. back button should only show when theres something to back from,* another crazy idea would be a softkey power button in the corner of the home screen replacing the back button, the most crazy idea would be getting rid of a phones power button entirely as theres tap to wake up now, only if it worked when the phone was off, honestly having a power button in the corner would not be very clean too me but it's an idea,* what would be more my preference is the turn off menu in the drop down bar.
I would also like more sony apps like compass or other useful features could call it sony smart tools or sony smart apps, Power user apps like cache cleaner ram freeing would also be great, my dad's LG g2 has a free ram app.
A silent life log app that syncs everything you do and visit in the cloud would also be fun, like using trackid to record which music you were listening to that day when you visited a national park etc, unless such a feature is too consuming.
Then theres recent apps theres two ways this could work,* my first idea was to just remove the recent apps button when there's no recent apps, it would only show when theres recent apps in it, my second idea is to hold down the apps icon to access recent apps instead of having a separate button for it, personally I want to be able to close or minimize apps so they won't end up in recent apps, when i don't want them to.
I guess i want it as clean as possible I think getting rid of an actual power button all together would be a good idea too, at least for me as it would make a phone look nicer more modern, it would also give space for something else.
I guess i want dynamic softkeys,* we have keys on a screen but they work just like physical touch buttons,* they are permanent 90 percent of the time i want to change that, as you practically get the same experience with actual capacitive buttons virtual buttons are not utilized properly in my opinion.
My other idea would be freedom in screen rotation, I use an app so I can use my phone upside down and due to the omnibalance design it feels and looks natural, not having a sony logo makes it impossible to tell if it's upside down or not, so i think all phones should have that freedom by default, I also think there should be a tablet ui for landscape on all sony phones I'd love to have the soft keys at the bottom when in landscape, i was highly dissapointed when i found out I couldn't use my z1 in landscape until I found an app for it.
I also don't think the menu should cast any shadow at all the screen should not darken it would then feel more like the menu is just icons and not a separate menu screen which is what I am aiming at uniformity, i would also get rid of the dot at the top next to the text about which order you have your icons set in, the icons are all fairly pushed in the middle I want them to use up the screen, so much space at the sides used for Nothing it gives a zoomed in feel I am referring to the z ultra though, to put it simple all menu icons simply popping up on the screen when you press the menu button no underlay of any kind not even boxes for folders just 4 small icons together to show that it's a folder
I've also noticed the soft keys and notification bar is not entirely transparent it casts a light dark shadow I would assume that's a limitation not being able to get rid of the underlay entirely due to it being hard-coded but i don't know how open android is to manufacturers, I am extremely picky about these things so I notice them pretty quickly I guess i am obsessed with perfection when it comes to technology, lastly getting rid of the blue grey ui sometimes rarely showing up like example when you change the volume, it makes me feel like that's stock android sometimes peeking out I'd like a similar ui design across all of android.
