New kit kat build - Moto G General

I'm running a UK tesco moto G but have had the retail German kit kat firmware on the device for the last couple of weeks. I've just been prompted about a new update, screenshot attached. Looks like a new build of kit kat but I don't speak German. Should I flash this or try and pull the update?

i guess i have the same problem as you. It is downloading, at least it says so in the system update menu, but i can't see progress. But i figured that might be caused because i rooted after the kitkat ota.
So is it possible to download the ota if someone posts it here and flash it via cwm without losing root?

I have done a factory reset. I have the 174.44.9 version.... i go to the System Updates and now it tells that is up to date! LOL
May they canceled the OTA?

I can translate for you:
"Here are some Highlights of this update:
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the newest Android version.
- New Phone Application
- Hangouts now support SMS/MMS
The detailed list of changes you will find in the "version hints"(not sure). "

Has anyone installed sucessfully this OTA, or is everybody being stuck...?

The changelog is just the standard kitkat changelog. It is not a real changelog for this bug fix release.

I rebooted my mobile and I get google play update for gallery and motorola assist. In options still have old system version and in system updates still saying it is being downloaded.

Reboot doesn't fix it. Only hard reset!

If you have updated via OTA and did not get the latest firmware (LPA, Kernel Dated June 12th), then download the firmware from here and flash it over LP8. You wont lose data and no wipe required.

Added it to the OP.
One think i noticed is that, initially when i used the eMMC check app from market it took 360Sec and then said no problem. But now it was able to give the result in 3 Sec
Seems no change in kernel, just minor update in PDA (as OP stated it is just 7.85MB)
Its just a new build with same kernel and modem.
The build number is IML74K.DDLPA

1. You may be using a different CSC other than "INU"
2. In the Software Update section, "WiFi only" is checked and you are using Mobile Data connected.
I had "WiFi only" unchecked and it popped up

Come on folks, this stuff takes time out of people's day, and work to get things copied and uploaded; the least you can do is click a button. I know that manners are a lost legacy, but people aren't obliged to do things - they do it from the kindness of their hearts, so at least show some thankfulness - some courtesy won't take any time, and certainly won't kill you; in fact, you'll actually FEEL BETTER FOR IT

I was getting errors with the 4.4.4 OTA through philz recovery.
So I downgraded to 4.3 and updated OTA to 4.4.2 - 176.44.1.en.GB(187mb) and then an update of (8mb).
Now i am on 4.4.2 and got 4.4.4 OTA 210.12.10.en.GB.

This mean, that this OTA archive is for version 176.44.1. This mean that you cant jump (for example) from 14.71.8 (Android 4.3) to 210.12.10 (Android 4.4.4) because you need OTA with name\version 14.71.8. When you apply it - you will have 174.44.9 (4.4.2, first update). With next OTA with name\version 174.44.9 you will have the last update for 4.4.2 (176.44.1), and so on.

It has actually been released. As per Sprint's device updates page for the 720 and the 720T...... Release Date: 5-20-15.
As for receiving the update, it could be 3-4 weeks before every S4 is served the update as it rolls out in stages, but indeed, some devices will start seeing the update today.
And again until someone actually receives it, it has not been released, only announced.
Anyways, this thread is pointless there are already other threads with discussions about the update, no need to start more. And you definitely don't NEED the update, you want it, your life doesn't depend on it.
In the meantime, Albe95 is 5.0 TW and is running great

It will be available on the forums in a few days most likely, you won't be getting a PM with the ROM before it's posted elsewhere for everyone.
If you want the ability to take an ota update, make sure you are 100% stock and unrooted. You can flash a stock tar to get to that state if you need to.
Edit: you can ask someone who has received the update to post the file or do a system dump

If one theoretically wanted to procure the update, an individual who has already updated to lollipop 5.0 could flash back to 4.4.2 using sammmoble firmware and Odin 3.0.9 on the PC with phone in download mode, factory reset if having boot problems with phone's recovery, check for the update again, perform an OTA Capture BEFORE downloading, copy the URL, install the update to 5.0, maybe factory reset again for completion's sake, and publish the URL here or upload the file to Dropbox, OneDrive, etc. for the rest of us. Such a job would require more time than most are willing to offer. But I will state my theory because I am egar myself. Best to you.

However, if there is a new bootloader in the new update, which there almost certainly is, a flash back to 4.4.2 would most certainly fail with other possible major issues incurred...including but not limited to a brick. No one should attempt this. We will get the new firmware and 5.0 rom soon enough.
This is how I get back from custom ROMs. Odin on the PC and download mode. Went from 5.0.1 GPE to TW 4.4.2 myself. No brick. Are you sure? Don't try the mobile odin.
But I stand corrected: Google OTA Capture. Post the URL if successful. Must be done BEFORE you hit download!

Stagefright affects more than just SMS. That is just to most well known way to exploit it. And many third party apps that fixed stagefright on their end do not include the second fix that Google recently pushed.

You can't blame Motorola for that, it is your fault for unlocking the bootloader. That is why they warn against it and you should always have a backup to flash before doing so.
Yes, I can't. But it doesn't hurt to explain better the reasons for their advise against the mods. As I understood, the problem was with TWRP recovery. If I knew about this before, I would simply had flashed the original recovery before allowing the OTA update.
Now I'm finally with my phone back to business

Capturing the July OTA file, need a volunteer

I believe the URL for the July update file can be found using the steps below (credit: troyboytn, from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6-edge/general/to-mm-download-link-t3371830). If anyone running the June firmware or earlier could try this, it would be a huge help to those like me who have not received the July OTA yet for whatever reason.
If anyone is currently running the June firmware, I believe we can find the download link by initiating a manual update by dialing *#8736364# in the dialer. Click "Software Update" and the information we need will be the "Server Address"when "Result" is clicked after download is initiated.. You will only get this info if your firmware is not up to date. .

When I get my replacement unit I'll try this if it wasn't updated to July yet, probably tomorrow,

PG1 was just posted to this site. It is legit. It's where the apf2 fw was taken from.

Anyone who can relieve the OTA can.
Here is the PG1. Used winrar to add all 4 odin files to this download, they must be extracted.
Also maybe someone can host this, not sure how long Dropbox will be working before bandwidth is used up.

Thanks for posting the new firmware. If someone is still willing to help with the URL capture, it could help us get future updates sooner.

I don't think so. Can you try one of links in other forums if they work with download manager ?

Anyone with root can capture the OTA. In fact if someone does get it,most likely I can make a flashable zip from it. I have done this many times before. Someone with root download it to the phone. The OTA file should end up in fota. After that we should be able to just upgrade with a zip and still keep root. Im already on the newest build but ill make the upgrade zip for everyone.

No they did not block all downloads, they just block ability to download from they servers to PC/Mac/Phone by any browser. You can get OTA if you trying update as you should by checking OTA's in settings menu in phone.
