+1 for Mx Player. I also have GPlayer (formerly super video player) installed as a fail safe just in case.

Putting movies on N7

Can someone point me or explain to me how to transfer movies from PC to tablet? What programs do I need?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The N7 mounts as a USB using Windows. Click and drag.

On a windows computer all you have to do is drag them over and drop them in the sd/movies directory on your tablet using windows explorer.
You can also just copy them over over the lan if you are using a file explorer on your table and can access your network.
I used es file explorer's built in FTP server. Turn it on and connect from your computer then copy wirelessly.

If you download a lot, then most formats won't work.
Download vplayer or another media player that will run them once on the device.
Or get an OTG cable to hook flash drives into it and download media import and use it that way.

Handbrake is also a good conversation program and it can it runs on win and mac
A good player is the mx player, it can even play more formats then the stock player and it has subtitle support
VLC player beta just got an update that fixes the random crashes on N7 devices. Been using this ever since

I would purchase a OTG cable, and use any memory stick or external hard-drive you may have.
Put your movies here, and play them from that.
If your rooted use - StickyMount
If not then use - NexusMediaImporter.
Could someone confirm the below,
Stickmount = read n write to USB drive (root)
nexus media importer = read only (non root)
Is that correct?

no idea about media importer but stickmount lets you read and write

That's correct. Latest version of importer supports ntfs which is good if you have a large mkv movie rip.
MX Player seems to work the best for me.

Thanks for clarifying, have you tried VLC player? The new update fixes the random crashes on N7 devices, been using it and its worked so great so far.

VLC lags a lot if you try to play 1080p video. MX player with hw+ decoder doesn't.
