I was chatting with dizgustipated about the 7.7 and I noted the lack of developers working on this model.
Yes it's new and to be expected but what are peoples thoughts, do you know of a good dev that may be interested ?
What about an agreement to find a good dev such as Diz to donate to for the purposes of obtaining a device for the dev.
Just wish Samsung would look at doing this themselves like the did for the S2.

Well i would donate for a experianced and a known dev for example D.O.C from HyperDroid Androidmeda
They make impressive high quality roms for example SGSII HyperDroid Androidmeda !!!
The thing is they make only roms for own devices cause i asked it already:

Maybe when the ICS comes out for this TAB in 2nd Quartal. Then it will 100% worth for it.

So if we get for example 20 people who donate 25$ then D.O.C would prolly buy a P6800 and build us a high quality rom !!!
I would donate 50$ for him cause i know the quality from HyperDroid Androidmeda roms!!!

The OP of this thread should make a Vote pool with some devs then we can see how many people are interested to get a custom rom and want to donate few dollars.
If the result of the vote is positive then i would or someone other contact the dev to show him the requests and the people who want donate.
It seems we should start with the question what do we want actually?
I personally want pure ICS, built from source.
it definitely worth if someone can port/develop ICS rom atm(before samsung's "this year" release)

I would be interested and willing to donate to get a nice rom.
But it would only be worth it to me, if it was based on ICS. We already have a couple of HC roms available, but HC is what it is and you can't get much out of it. This beautiful tablet needs ICS. I'm not a dev but from what I heard, it should be easier now that the GS2 source is out.
The other important thing is that it should support both P6810 and P6800. This should be possible even if the dev only got the P6800. nitroglycerine33 did this with his rom by request and it only took him a few hours without owning the other device.

Well all of us want different things thats clear.
1st in one thing we all should be same "belief" >>> THE ROM BASEMENT <<< and thats >>> ICS <<<
2nd the dev must be a !!!RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER!!! if people donate!!!
3rd then people can for example suggest some RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER and we can start a "VOTE POOL"
4th the result of the vote will show us how many people are interested on wich RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER to make ROM
5th the RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER should be then contacted and asked "are he interested to make a rom for SGT 7.7?" + "what are the requirements?"(maybe nothing or maybe some donates to get the device at first!)
When these things are solved then we can say "DONE!"
Well i am pending as i sad between D.O.C(ICS HyperDroid Androidmeda) or CM9 Based Rom(from a RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER)

A RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER can implement "Miniapps" to a Custom ICS ROM!
You wont miss any apps in Google Play!

There won't be any functional, "daily driver" ICS ROMs for the 7.7 until Samsung releases (or leaks) an update. Otherwise, you're going to have an incomplete device with non-working cameras and other patchy issues, regardless of how talented the developer is.

We dont talk about a hobby developer wie talk about a RECOGNIZED DEVELOPER.

I don't know why you are using ALL CAPS, but the CAMERAS did not work on the ICS port of the Touchpad either. There was also a bunch of professionals working on that, with a github and everything.

true cause there was no driver available from HP for android cause of the OS ....Here we got the option to port driver from HC ...... The caps are only signalizing that we talk about a specialist not man like me or you

I totally agree.
Must be ICS, HC is not good.
I used Diz as an example, his work is good but everyone has their own ideas on what is best.
Samsung is too hardware focused and scattered with their direction, they will never come out with timely updates or what we really want so this is the only way we will get a device that truly does what we want.

Sorry, but this is spam. Search a bit around here and you will find that arco68, the guy who ported CM9 for Galaxy W, is trying to develop some CM9 for our device.
And the 9000 DEVs will not be very helpful as the 9001 uses a completely different chipset, porting from 9000 devices is impossible.
And least to say (although it is sad): such petitions will not change anything. Money does - for buying a beer or two for a good developer - and to buy him a device.

Yes i read about that. but there are other developers on here which I'm sure would help us if we address them
Perhaps open up a thread to organize donations, or a plan to secure device(s) for the developers like arco and maclaw? I am interested in donating too, but we need an organized move first.
We've got to start something, maybe we won't have mass threads about ICS and CM9 that way..

Think the ammount of money that this release would generate if let's say 20% of the rom user would donate a small amount of cash.

You don't have to wait till it's finished. They are spending hours per day to develop something for us. I don't want to know how many hours Yarde or Skywalker already put into developing.
So if you want to spend them a coffee go ahead and donate if you can afford it.
Hi guys, Pls give 2 min attention to read, Yesterday i had a talk with Michał Gapiński, an ICS POLISH BLOOD project developer Who developed ICS for LG Swift,Sony Ericson Xperia series & Samsung Wave(Bada to ICS port almost he done).
I requested him to consider ICS development for Our DS5,since these above machines really really inferior to our DS5 and He replied Why not..
But he seems to See the support & interest of us & Devs..

Kudos to the devs.
One thing is porting a ROM with all necessary drivers on hand and it's a whole other animal to reverse engineer closed source drivers.

what kind of devices? i'm working with a couple motorolas and htc's but i'm sure plenty of testers can be found and can expand to many other devices. i'll be honest. I have built several ROMs from source and have TONS of saved mods and tweaks which i can refer to but I'm not good at working with interface. btw I am on the official team for SwiftLinux, so I have plenty of Linux experience, but tbh one again I won't be the BEST asset to the team but with guidance I have been looking for this for a long time and I am willing to do anything to get on a with some expereinced ROM builders to show me what I don't know, and to add my time (which is about 18 hrs a day) to helping put out great ROMs. I know how to build from source, I know how to port, I can use kitchen, I have experience pretty much everywhere, the only place I've really failed is UI mods.

if you wanted to help us impoverished guys over on Tablet Republic with ROM development for the i.MX6 quad core Sanei N10 tablet it would be fantastic.
It's still only ICS but we were hoping for JB and a dual boot version with Ubuntu like the upcoming DaVinci Nibbio which is being released mid March.
Sorry if this is out of line but we need all the experienced help we can get as far as ROM development is concerned.

We could use new devs for the HTC desire, we don't have good working camera in android 4.x or kernel 3.. If you are interested, the desire community will be thankful..

The epic 4g touch section has a bunch of great devs. But we have lost a few. Im sure they wouldnt mind more help.
Since the losses, i think they've been having trouble with a few different things. We have great 4.2.2 roms, but no official samsung releases. For some reason, they cannot get JB modems to work. No CWM touch recoveries, and a few bugs that havent been solved for a while.
Just giving you options.

Hi guys this is more aimed at the devs who have roms for the N7100 and I was hoping to ask if any of you were able to port them over to N7105.
Things have become very stale even though we do have some brilliant devs and roms we don't have many of them and it would be brilliant to try a few of the roms on N7100.
Plus I must admit my I'm missing the excitement of flashing new roms.

I agree, there is basically no dev being done on the 7105. Surely it cant be that hard for a seasoned developer to port a 7100 to 7105 or AT LEAST give us instructions of how to flash a 7100 rom then convert to 7105. I read somewhere that if we flash a 7100 rom then flash a csc then a 7105 modem that it might work. Is this all it takes.
It would be nice to get a few devs replying on here and giving us some info if possible.
I'd like to keep this near the top and active to reach the devs. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed the choice of which model I got been on EE and I feel hard done by that ours seems to be the ugly twin of the devices ha.
I feel like were an after thought in this forum at times (that is not an attack on anyone here, just an observation) Wish I had the time to learn but I don't

Its almost certainly because the n7100 was the first (and cheapest) note 2 model released. The simple fact is that most devs wont develop for a phone they dont own. Some do, but they are usually the exception to the rule.

I can understand that but there are plenty of us that do. If its as 'simple' as adding a modem and csc then why not bring some N7105 users with the knowledge to do so. I may not have the knowledge to put a rom together but i'd happily test before release. I'd also happily donate money to the purchase of them as other communities do if that was the only option

Sadly, most devs here maintain roms for multiple phones. Its probably in the hands the n7105 to pick a specific dev, and and either convince him/her to support your device despite not owning one, or to again pick your dev, and organise a donation/pledge page to buy the dev an n7105(like you alluded to in your response).
