MOJO root and Play Store mod now available! - M.O.J.O. General

I've just posted MMM - MoDaCo Mod for MOJO - in the development area here. It's a bit quiet over there at the moment so I figured I should post a heads up here.
MMM roots the MOJO and helps with the 'missing apps from Play Store issue', head on over for more details.
Enjoy!

Wow thanks! Excited to try this out.

Since you are into modding this thing, any possibility of an option to hide or turn off the menu bar during gameplay? I dont want to stare at some menu bar in ALL my games.
Is there a way around this?
Would installing a custom rom be a way around this?
If so, do you recommend a custom rom i could install on this now that I have rooting ability?
Thanx for your time!

I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys&hl=en to hide mine, but sadly it has a red bar across the bottom instead. You can resize it but cant make ti go away without paying for the "pro" version (which I did, and the fullscreen without the black bar across the bottom is beautiful!)

Hi mate,
It depends on how intrusive the theme is, in other words, if it is going to change settings and notifications menu, then u need a root+deodexed rom which can accept most of the built themes.
try to install a launcher like Go or ADW launchers, then change their theming options, this will keep u happy
Edit: However, if u decided to jump to the world of custom roms, then the sky is ur limit
for me I rooted my previous gs2 but after replacing it (due to speaker problem) I still dont find a reason to root+custom my phone, its gr8 out of the box.
p.s. dont listen to junky users who r *****ing about the performance of the phone. they r crying about things that they dont mind if the name of the device name is Iphone ,,,,,,, coming from sgs this device is a real replacement for a computer OTG
Hi dr thanks for your reply,
I absolutely love my phone so no complaints about performance at all! I am not into rooting my devise, just wanted to change the notification bar ie battery icon but thats it, I'm very happy with touch wiz etc best phone I've had!
So how easy would it be to just change the battery icon to be like the one on the sgs1?
@drreality +1 man! True story.
To change batteryicon im pretty sure you need to root as the icons are placed in the system folders
Ah ok lets say I pluck up the courage to root easily, how would I go about downloading just a battery icon and install it with stock Rom?

There are lots of apps on the market that can give you another battery icon in the status bar without rooting, although they won't replace your defaultbattery icon, so you will have 2 battery icons, one on the left part of the phone and the default one in the right part of the notification bar.

Hold Home, Google Now Wheel Question

I don't use Google Now at all. I'd love to get rid of it. Also, the grey Google search bars on the top of the home screen.
I just unboxed my new N4, and yes, I searched for threads to help with my issue.
I'd like to be able to remove the Google Now icon from the wheel when you long press the home button. I'd REALLY love to be able to add other apps to that wheel instead. Is that even possible?
I'd like to avoid ROMing the device, but will if I must.

Nova Launcher can remove the Google Search bars and a ROM like AOKP can alter the apps in the "wheel". I don't believe altering the wheel can be done without ROM'ing.

I feared as much... I really wanted to avoid ROMing, so I may just have to deal with it. I'll probably grab an aftermarket launcher though...
There's no reason to not move from Stock mate, lots of optimizations and lots of fixes and features out there Esp. with Halo around these days
You can just freeze google search and FC your launcher.
When it reopens the search bar will be gone.
To undo those steps just unfreeze google search and restart your launcher again.
I guess I'm going to ROM the phone... : \
There is another mod that I want badly, and apparently, ROMing is the only way. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41861795#post41861795

Welcome to the Nexus 4 world.
What's wrong with ROMs? They're great and add much appreciated features to AOSP. Paranoid android is amazing.
Thank you Enhanced
Carter, nothing is wrong with ROMs. Nothing at all. I just feel the N4 is amazing without one...
That being said, I'm currently downloading PA_Mako 3.56 (26May2013) and the newest GApps. I require more tweaks than the stock ROM will allow.

I can understand not needing a custom ROM on the N4 although I would love a Nexus 4 with Halo on it.
Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.neko.freewing.NoAssist
It works perfect with my n4

[Q] Hide homebar and store games on sd

Hi, two questions...
Is there any way to hide the home bar?
The buttons take up a lot of space at the bottom of the screen and are annoying when playing some games or watching movies in xbmc.
It seems there´s no way to use the SD-card to store apps. Is this right?

Hi! Thanks for your answer!
It seems that link2sd need root to link apps. So I'll probably need to wait until someone has rooted the mojo, or Mad Cats has added\enabled these features in android.

Hi again ok yes of course you have to be rooted to use limk2sd and hide bar that's what i was saying
look at this forum a MOJO STAFF MEMBER say how to root it . you just need a pc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566993
good luck and don't brick your device ask me some question if it's necessary

[Q] Rooted, bloatware removed. Now what?

I've seen a lot of threads about this but I can't quite seem to understand them. I switched from an iPhone and they have tweaks and such. Now I know Android is more open and more possibilities but I can't quite find a guide of some sort for my s4. I mean, is there a list of the most popular things to do on a rooted s4? Essential tweaks? Any recommendations? What I mean is that I'd like to customize my device without having to change the entire rom. I think I said that right.. lol.
Thanks in advance!
Start with xposed framework and all the various modules. Also definitely check out Wanam in the play store.
Thank You!

Can you use the XPOSED framework with the stock TouchWiz rom using 4.4.2?
In terms of customization I do:
1. Root the phone. I use root to get extra functionality out of a few apps.
2. Disable or Uninstall bloatware.
3. Download Apex Launcher [Free] and setup my homescreen with some basic gestures. I only use one homescreen with a calendar widget and 6 icons.
4. Download Better Battery Stats [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I understand how my battery is being affected.
5. Download LMT Launcher [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I can simply use PIE to control/navigate with my phone easily.
6. Download Llama [Free] or Tasker [Paid] or both for automation and doing custom tasks.
7. Download AirDroid [Free/ROOT] for a wireless way of managing my phone, needs root for special features.
8. Download AdAway (not sure where to get this, I forgot) but it will help stop ads in apps/games and more.
9. Download Light Manager [Free] to change the LED colour for events like charging, charged, text message, email and more.
10. Change how all notifications appear, have a look at Floatifications [Tria/Paid] and there are many others.
I find that the customization of Android depends on what you find to be annoying and inefficient, therefore I change it.
I personally think LMT Launcher to get access to PIE is the absolute best way to navigate and control your phone or tablet.
Think about themes for your phone, at least for the homescreen, I like dark icons and a dark wallpaper because when I use my phone at night it is really easy on the eyes. However certain apps don't have a night/dark mode and instead a white background and that's annoying.
Just to reiterate, think of something you dislike about how Android works and change it. There's literally an app to customize anything and majority of them are free.
Good luck!

You are like me, you want to mod your phone while keeping stock ROM intact. Well, head on over to the Google Play store and download Wanam Xposed. You need the Xposed framework installed to use it though. Wanam enables you have a scrolling background, CRT off animation, change or hide the battery icon, etc.
Keep 'em coming!
I really appreciate all the replies!
But I typically want to keep the stock system.
May be hard to believe but I actually like TouchWiz UI. Lol.
But all suggestions are considered. Thanks again to everyone!

How to remove/hide the Navbar on Mojo?

Hey again guys. I've been doing further research and I'm positive the console I want to buy next is a Mojo.
I plan to root it as soon as I get it, so the important question is: how do I make it so the navbar doesn't show up? Apparently its always present by default, making all apps even XBMC not actually fullscreen.
Hopefully someone can tell me that. Thanks!

That's were I've heard your name.. on the "The Retro League" podcast lol
I haven't heard those two in ages.. wow!
I should go get me some right now lol
Cool, ha.. to your questions.
I think there's app on the app store which remove the navbar in jellybean.. not 100%
I would think CM12 would have that as an option.. again not sure sorry.
MX player does hide it but games don't.. that I recall anyway.
:good:
I wonder if there's just a script that you can edit to fix this. I just want the damn thing to not take up screen space when it's not a touch screen device to begin with.

Try Auto Hide Soft Keys APP which worked fine for me on rooted jellybean. Kodi/XBMC on the Lollipop (CM12) ROM works without this app because of immersive mode which hides the navbar, so I would suggest when you get your MOJO to switch to that ROM.
I know this is probably a crazy noobish question, but is there any way to download game apks from the google play store directly to my imac? I'm pretty new to google play, and it keeps saying to sign in on the device. but thats just the thing, I don't have a mojo yet. I'm still trying to figure out if I will get one.
So what the heck? Can't I just download to my computer and then "sideload" later?

I'm not sure why you would need to sideload apks to the MOJO since it will be fully functional with google play after using the rooting method for jellybean. On CM12, missing apps can apparently be fooled into appearing in google play by changing the device to something else like an nvidia shield tablet using Market helper http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146216
But there is a way to download apks to the computer if you must: try this

I'm newish to android but I think you still need to use the navbar regardless of lack of touch...
At least with jellybean, cm12 feels better integrated to android but still need to get to the all apps menu button.
I think the issue is jellybean didn't let apps remove easily, were as cm12 does.
