My progress bar gets maybe 1/4 of the way complete and then the message at the top of the screen changes to

I've tried Fix Permissions and have also selected Flash ROM from GooManager so that it could locate any newer version of TWRP and install. I keep getting the same result. Can't mount data. My Data is also showing 0mb

So you're going to start a new thread with the same question huh.
Sorry we couldn't help. Maybe if you keep asking all over the place the answer will magically appear.
Peace out.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. The reason for that is the last time I asked it, the question was tacked on to a thread that said nothing about the issue in the title. I figured this would be a better way to catch the attention of someone that was familiar with the issue. How bout using a little common sense before running your mouth...peace out

please specify the exact partition layout achieved with minitool. we might be particularly interested in the presence/absence of other partitions (intended or unintended), their relative order to one another, and which ones are primary or logical partitions, etc.

Trying to unlock bootloader for the s4

Hi guys,
Pretty much new to Android. But, I'm pretty sane at following instructions.
Some how this makes me want to give up! Been at this for 5 hours and over but still can't find a solution :crying:
So I'm sitting here with an S4 i9505
I rooted the phone.
Root: Check!
Somehow tried installing TWRP using odin for the phone. It showed a success but I'm not able to boot to that.
Now I'm trying to unlock the bootloader to get TWRP to work.
I install Android Studio, get the google USB drive update ( deleted android studio later after looking at a million threads)
The phone is by default always installing as Samsung ADB interface on my computer. Looking at the device manager.
I launch ADB, I check my devices - adb devices - seems to work fine. Identifies my device.
2. abd reboot bootloader - works fine - i end up with the ODIN screen on my phone( download mode) - Press Volume up to continue - Ok, ready
3. fastboot devices - doesn't return anything
I check the device manager for any exclamation marks on any new driver. It's completely fine. Collapsed all the tabs and expanded to check one by one. I don't find any unknown device to which I can update the driver to the ADB Composite USB interface.
There is absolutely nothing in the Device manager even after me being in download mode.
Please help this is driving me nuts! I need to figure this out. After trying out possibly everything. I'm here for help.
I need to know how to fix this. I have this awesome CM13 rom that I want to flash onto my phone
Looking forward to whatever I can get. TIA
There's absolutely nothing to unlock.
Untick auto reboot in Odin and try again.
If all else fails, try installing it with the app method (requires root). In fact, TeamWin themselves recommend using the app method. So there you go.
Now there's a mount issue! Will this ever end XD

[UPDATE]
Figured it out.
Erased the data which helped me get rid of the encryption.
Then I was able to go ahead and perform a proper wipe.
Installed LineageOS on the phone.
Haven't found any issues yet.

Thanks for your help. Special cheers to Pwnycorn for helping me not waste my time further!

Is/was your data encrypted?

Yup it was encrypted. I had to do a complete wipe to remove the encryption.
Post the wipe, I was able to install the OS and perform a factory reset.

TWRP cannot decrypt encrypted data, that is why it failed.
A complete wipe was recommended anyway, since you came from a completely different kind of ROM.

Persist error

I have a problem. In TWRP, the only thing my Cool1 cannot mount is persist. Every execution always showing "Failed to mount '/persist' (Invalid argument)". What should I do? Change TWRP?
I was helped by downloading the file from the thread below and restoring "backup" as a partition backup by TWRP
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=911910&st=15200#entry84786227
the file might have been removed from the link you provided. if you still have the backup, can you please provide it. @dziubson

Mi a1 unmounted /system and /data fs

My Mi A1 device is in a state that is stuck in the first logo boot screen and when I boot into twrp I get errors of failing to mount /system and /data. I have tried the methods of wiping the partitions through twrp but the proccess fails. I have also tried to switch the filesystem to something else but that proccess fail too. Is there a way I could create them from scratch via the terminal in twrp? I don't have the knowledge to do things like that in filesystems and my device is for me right now in a bricked state because of that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I do the switch file system option of /system and /data from twrp i get the error 'E:recv error on uevent'
When I try to do a format I get the errors: 'Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.'
'Unable to mount /data (Invalid Argument)'
'Unable to mount /system (Invalid Argument)'
Hey, have you got any solution for the problem because I have stucked in the same problem. If you got the solution please tell me.
