So I need to root it, to install cwm, to change this rom mamybe to creeds 3.5 and also unlock it.
This is the first phone that gives me reall problems of rooting!! I tried all methods possible, i installed "update.zip" many different updates zips in the forum, it didn't work, some times superuser appears but "root cheker app" gives no confirmation of root. I also tried pc programms like "unlock root" and after all process ir says "root failed", i also reeinstalled the stock firmware by odin, and tried again with multi rooter and I can't get root acess..
Please help me! I saw some guys on youtube getting root acess in 20seconds and I can't I don't what else to do!

maybe the bootloader is locked.. you need to unlock it before rooting

How can I do it? any tutorial?

this is how I root my galaxy y
goto recovery
flash this cwm zip - download here
mount system if not already mounted (in mounts and storage it should display "unmount system" if system is mounted)
install zip from sd
select this zip download Valkyrie_1_5E
select superuser by chainsdd
restart
you should now have the superuser app and your phone rooted
if it cant find your build.prop you have a varient of the 5360 that cant use this method

Look for stock firmware bundled with the bootloader for your device then flash through odin.. But Im warning you its a risky move you could brick your device.. So i suggest you do a little more research before doing anything dangerous goodluck

flashing stock firmware does not unlock the phone!
and you dont unlock the bootloader like you do a htc phone - the zips contains the bootunlock file when you flash them in galaxy y
never flash the boot loader in odin - you will be at high risk of damaging your phone if you get it wrong
use dokys glaxy toolbox to remove carrier lock

I just flash a stock via odin, and now it's okay.. I tried again root, start recovery, flash cwm, mount system (that was already monted), flash zip file that you gave to me, follow aroma instructions, chose the first option by chainsdd, and reboot..
The superuser app don't appear.. and root checker says that root is not done...
What can I do..I'm freaking out with this, I had 2 androids before (Htc Wildfire, Samsung galaxy gio) and it never was so simple to root them!!

what did the output of the script say - did you get a build prop error or did it say it had done it
do you have a gt-s5360 or is it a varient for example gt-s5360t
I forgot to say you need to enable usb debugging too
try this method
enable usb debugging on your phone - (phone settings - applications - development - tick usb debugging)
download this zip and put on root of sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=763088&d=1319722266
now go into recovery (stock recovery not cwm)
install zip from sd card
select update.zip
restart

Hi guys
I have some problems with root on 2.3.4
Probably I can not have any permissions for programms, such as ShootMe (for examle). Do you?

That probably means your phone is no longer rooted. Download 'Root Checker' from the Market to check, but if you installed 2.3.4 ROM, your phone should be un-rooted though.

Same situation/problem
For those stock rooted but bootloader locked 2.3.3 users that previously rooting using CWM recovery to update and superuser root method.
You can root the same way...but save the trouble of fastboot recovery step via PC which novice users could be stuck on getting fastboot usb driver to work properly.
0) Just installed ROM Manager (From Market) into your phone
1) Store both 2.3.4 update.zip and SuperUser.zip into SDCard
2) Run ROM Manager
3) Activate CWM Recovery
=> Make sure recovery is installed succesfully..check ROM Manager screen which tell whether the installation is successfully done.
4) Reboot recovery from ROM Manager App
5) Follow thread #1 on the rest
6) After applying update.zip..do not reboot...do a system mount from CWM Recovery then apply SuperUser.zip ..after completing all steps..do a reboot..
Voila your 2.3.4 is installed and rooted..
Thanks, but this way comes to late for me and some other users. We've flashed the update without rooting.
And now we need another way for root ...

Can't run ROOT after Doom updates

Hey all,
So I've managed to upgrade to FW 4, Doom's latest kernel, & Doom's autoroot also. Thanks Doom
I still can't seem to get root working. When I go in to Superuser to try to update, I get the following:
su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip
reboot into recovery and flash it
I can't reboot into recovery (not sw cuz it's not rooted, hitting back key when powering on ignores me).
Anyone else know what I could try?
If you flashed to 4.0 first, then autoroot, then use kernel you will keep root and data.

Logseman told me to flash 4, kernel, then autoroot. Is this the wrong order? Have I lost my chance to root until Doom releases a new kernel?
I kept my data ok, just lost root... which is pants cuz the bloatware needs wiped before my sanity does :-/

If you have superuser you are rooted, if your using doomlords kernel there is no need to auto root as it comes with root. you dont need to update the app just the binaries, but you have the latest version with doomlords kernel so an update is not needed
worst comes to the worst, connect your device to flashtool and hit root

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I agree, def still rooted because i can delete sys apps through root explorer. I can't get Titanium to run - it reports I'm not rooted. Their "problems" link me to update Superuser but it compains re my 1st post that it can't update.
I uninstalled su, new install is 2.3.6.3 but it still refuses the update. Why I can't get into safe mode by hitting the back key on boot is strange too.
Don't know how to run Root from Flashtool, it's greyed out & sounds like I might lose data?
More idea's welcome

(Q) Unable to flash custom rom via CWM

Hi first time I am having a problem of not able to flash custom rom via recovery CWM, here's the problem, I am using Philz recovery whenever I flash zip, the process of flashing went ok, but when all done flashing I press Reboot System Now, recovery takes me to screen that give me a message Root Access is Missing - Root device, then YES -- Root Device (/system/xbin/su) I click YES..then reboot when to Samsung GS4 splash screen then just black afterward instead of seeing boot animation..and after 1 minute when back to recovery..that's it..I know I already double check that I have root access also using root checker everything is ok, I even flash stock firmware through odin no problem and re-root but still doesn't help..do you think I have a problem in /system/xbin/su folder..please help how to fix this..thank you soo much..

[Q] Please Help Me! Root Galaxy S4

Okay well, I have a GS4 GT-I 9500 on android 4.2.2 KitKat.
I updated it from 4.3 to this version when I was in Russia.
And lately, I heard of rooting and stuff so I'm a total newbie!
So, I jumped for some tutorials on the web and I learned about Pc Odin, chainfire root, and CWM recovery.
I used first a method wich involved using odin to push the CF auto-root with PDA into the phone while on download mode. I got only 'reset' but no 'pass' would show. And no supersu icon will appear in my app drawer. After lots of tires and multiple Odin version changes I succeeded in having 'pass', but nope, "no proper root access"(via root checker).
So then I used Odin to put CWM recovery in the phone and enter it to "install zip from sd card" and installed the CF auto-root . zip. Lines start to flow and ends with a "Done". Then I go back to reboot and it says something like do you want to fix root located in... before root? I tried "yes - fix root" and "no - just reboot" And both didn't fix it for me.
Finally, I tried motochopper.zip that have some files wich needed developer mode to be enabled and USB debugging. I only had to hit enter in run.bat and it starts the rooting process. But immediately says failure and gives an error like "failure supersu already available"...
I would really appreciate any help. I need my device rooted soon, please. Thanks in advance.
P.S: While on download mode, it shows that my phone status is modified. I won't mind having to force a factory reset if it'll fix something.
Thanks a lot!
I wonder if my post is visible to others, I really need my phone rooted

P.S: While on download mode, it shows that my phone status is modified. I won't mind having to force a factory reset if it'll fix something.
Thanks a lot!

If you have Clockwork Mod Recovery on your phone now, find a Superuse.zip install package and flash that in recovery. It will work like a charm.
easy steps !
download & flash touch philz Recovery via Odin
then go to recovery and select re-root system > > yes apply ( Supersu )
Then download supersu from google play and he will ask you how do you want to update binary ,just click normal
