IMEI NULL and Baseband Unknown - Note3 n9005 with KitKat - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I red the whole world about finding a solution for my issue, but didn't find anything that worked. I've got my note 3 n9005 flashed with stock 4.4 and the IMEI is showing null and the Baseband is unknown. I red that the IMEI restoring is done through the EFS folder somehow, but unfortunately I don't have it backed up Didn't find anything about the Baseband as well.
Could you guys help me get my note fixed.
Thanks in advance.

SOLUTION:
After investigating my issues forever I finally found out that my note was a Demo version. The guy that sold it to me lied about it, but anyway I returned it to him.
You can check if yours is a demo when disassemble it. You need to be looking for an antenna (it's a long wire coming from the back-right-bottom of the phone, going to the top of it). Unfortunately I deleted my photos showing where the antenna is, but you could search in google. If there is no such wire, your unit is most probably a demo phone.

Have a read throught that and see ^^
You must read and learn what causes issues before you try to resolve them, If you don't it can cause all sorts of issues.

Any other suggestions you could help with, guys?
All help will be highly appreciated!

How old was the image you used? I know there are problems reverting bootloaders from 4.4 back to 4.3.
Have someone make you a fresh image using a 4.4 stock Rom.

That's for the first issue I had. I think I will need to first wake up the device and then hopefully will move forward.

Anyway while waiting, do you think there is a way of flashing the SD card itself with the required files from an original or custom rom.
I mean, if I unzip the rom, will I find the files that I need there?
This might be a stupid question, but might be worth asking it.

There is a t-flash method, but we tried it and it didn't work over in the t mobile section. The problem being is you have to use a working phone to do so, and it is always a risk to the other party.

you'll have to bite the bullet and do what I had to do a few days ago and get it done properly via a phone repair shop

Hi mate have you tried flashing the stock firmware back to you'r tab ?
you ment to post this thread here.
forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=752
you could of read the guide before posting this
GUIDE] Recover your IMEI in 9 steps.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
this worked for me
What i did to get my IMEI back was to get the ATT or T mobile modem and just use ODIN (boot into that downloading screen) and install it in the PDA section (the modem zip file)
and it was good too cgo
I was even having some issues with stalled screens and so and that cleared up as well
If I had done this before attempting to flash the stock rom I might of been able to save friend files
But oh well

no as the phone is hard bricked its 100% unusable, if it would even switch on that would be fantastic.
its more complex than soft brick.

Return it and claim warranty, tell them that your phone suddenly went off and that you don't know the reason. They may replace the board for you.

Then it's up to you to convince your client to return it to Samsung for warranty. As for recovering his data, that is the hard part.

Do you mean the bootloader that needs to be written as T-Flash to a microsd using Odin 3.09 or higher? (as per 13-58_SM-N900_Boot_Recovery_Guide_rev1.0.pdf) Isn't that just the same as sboot.bin written raw to first sectors of microsd?
I would be interested to hear if you managed to use that just for the "extreme hacking" angle of it :good:

I do not think the microsd is enough - the Note3 ONLY boots from microsd if you short R4075 on the mainboard - there is a notice from Samsung service somewhere around with a name like 13-58_SM-N900_Boot_Recovery_Guide_rev1.0.pdf that describes the details (and comes with a good picture of what you need to short).

Permanent no service? No connectivity?

Well i was trying to to flash a new rom on my D802 and accidentaly i deleted everything... a full wipe from phone menu ( not recovery )
Since there was absolutely nothing on the hard drive anymore ( i assume) Phils TWM coudnt find any folders .. i had to push roms to the phone through adb now the problem is that no matter what rom i install i get no connectivity/no service .. cant recieve any calls or use data... only wifi...
I tried re flashing...
Stock rom
Paranoid rom
G flex rom
Stock kernal and peak 5.2 kernal
Nothing has worked? How do i restore connectivity to my phone? Thanks

Honestly, you'd need some one to send you their EFS backup (who's on the same carrier and model). Then you'd need to extract it. Then edit it to replace their data with yours.
But I don't think your going to find anyone willing to do that. As it's a HUGE risk to them. So I think your only bet it to to a warranty or repair 'call' with lg if not your carrier.

Warranty service?
Yeah, if you wipe your EFS, flashing back to stock wont help. The EFS partition contains files individual to each device, you will probably have to return it for repair man D:
I've had the same problem too, my SIM card doesn't seem to be reading on my phone either; and it definitely a functional sim.

I'm sorry, xda mail somehow has been going to my spam folder.
Anyway I am not familiar with this issue, but perhaps you can restore your stock rom via flashtool, then call LG and tell them that you don't know why this happened Oh and modems are distinct from EFS I think (at least that's my understanding)
Your main problem will be the shipping though
I found this thread for the lg optimus G though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161498. Perhaps try PM-ing autoprime?
Same Problem
I also am in this EXACT same position. Still havent found a resolution quite yet. I am in correspondence with Shellnut the guy who actually wrote the freegee app that uses loki to flash cwm and twrp. He said that only cdma phones need efs, that the gsm phones didnt need it. This was new information to me. I haven't heard back from him quite yet as he informed me my phone wasnt bricked and that they would help me get back up and running. I know he is extremely busy. I have also been hearing that you can possibly use lg qpst to manually write your imei, looking into this now.
I would love to not have to take the risk of sending it in. Would love to just fix it.
i'm in the exact same position right now. Hunting the threads for a fix. I will be going back to Hong kong in 2 weeks time for 2 days, not sure if thats sufficient time for LG to get it fixed.
Hopefully we can find a solution soon!

Network continuallly disconnecting on i9505

Tonight I installed KitKat 4.4.4 (tried 2 different 4.4.4 roms) on an i9505 which was previously running jelly bean (stock, touchwiz).
The phone network keeps disconnecting on it. If I go into wireless and networks/more/mobile networks/network operators and select my provider through there, it will connect and work fine for a while, but will then disconnect itself again randomly. The IMEI is all fine. This is the first time i've really been stuck with a problem, and i've been flashing roms on multiple phones for a long time.
Why would it be working, but keep disconnecting itself? So annoying..
Anyone able to give me some help here please? Would really be much appreciated, thanks..
Just thought....
My mate whose phone it is has gone away so I won't be able to try this until tomorrow, but maybe it's not a UK baseband on it..
I'm sure I've used basebands before though that weren't specifically for my country on other galaxy phones, but it's a good possibility do you think? I didn't think it could cause that, until now..
I can't believe I never thought of trying that at the time, I'll find out if that is the problem tomorrow.
Solved!!
For anyone experiencing the same problem...
Flash a baseband which is specifically for your country with Odin - WITH AUTO REBOOT UNCHECKED
take battery out. Boot into download mode. Flash the same baseband again. For some reason if you only flash it once and leave reboot checked it doesn't work.
Phone will boot, and you will find that the problem is fixed.
Hope this helps someone else avoid the **** that I encountered.
Thanks!

Nice to see this thread has helped a few people.
I was scratching my head for a while with that problem, and I'd consider myself pretty experienced with android and flashing ROMs.
I was searching the net, and I found forum posts of people saying they had the same problem, I even found posts that said SOLVED!!! in them, with no explanation as to how it was solved lol. Great help.
Anyways, peace all.
And 1eyedmonster, just gimme a shout if you want the one I used and I'll send you it, or pm me your gmail add, whatever..

Good stuff, glad to hear it.
The lesson is to always post the solution when you find it. There's nothing more annoying than reading a long thread of a problem you have too, and when the guy gets it fixed he doesn't come back to post the fix...
Cheers

[FIXED] Soft-bricked Note 3 LTE (SM-N9005)

When I turn my phone on it goes into boot loop. I tried accessing TWRP but it's not good either, it would just show the startup screen and nothing will happen. I don't know how this happened because my phone was working perfectly last night before I slept. I didn't charge my phone so when I woke up the battery was drained. So I plugged in my charger and turn it on, it'll just go into boot loop just like what I said earlier. Please help. I have read that I should flash stock through Odin, but where can I find it? Please help. Thanks!
Go on sammobile.com

Thanks, I actually know that I have to go to that site to download the firmware, I just needed some confirmation haha! But this here is my real (stupid-ish) question, is it possible to recover/access my data? Will it be lost after flashing?
When my device was bricked a bit times... I flashed the firmware and all my data wasn't lost it just changed the system and did not delete any data... But make sure u only flash the firmware version that was present before u bricked your device....
MOST of the times it doesn't delete any data☺

Oh that's good to hear, but what do you mean by flashing the version that was present before I bricked my device? How will I know what version was present before?

Okay, thanks! Well, I have a custom ROM before and it's version is 6 the stock firmware available is 5. What will happen then?
@leosrw It works now but unfortunately I lost my data it asks for a factory reset so yeah they're all gone. Well, no worries, they're not that important anyway. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I think so too. Well, I'm fine with loosing a bit of data. They're mostly backed up anyway. Well thanks for helping me. Now, I know what to do if there'll be a similar problem in the future. Thanks!
