Defy won't start - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with my Motorola defy(non+). After i installed by mistake Android 4.4 with kernel 3.0 by Quarx, my defy wouldn't boot into the OS.
Tried to install another ROM but it ran into a problem and failed. Tried to install after that a new SBF because i don't know why the recovery menu was not there anymore.
Suddenly, after it finished, i noticed the phone won't power up anymore. It happened to me 2 times in the past and just adjusting the charger end into the phone carefully worked and i could power on the phone and install a different sbf and solve the problem but now it's different.
The phone won't power up with that method again.
When i connected the phone into the laptop the white led appeared, but without powering it on, RDS lite identified the device.
I installed a froyo 2.2.2 CEE sbf succesfully(it said) but it doesn't power up and now RDS lite doesn't recognise it either.(LED still works though)
What can i do?

Try wiping data and cache in the stock recovery. To get into the stock recovery, power off the phone, hold in the volume- button then also press and hold the power button. After a few seconds you should see a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, and a little green android guy below that. Then press the volume+ and volume- buttons at the same time, and a menu should appear. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, and the power button to select an option. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and also "wipe cache partition". Then try to reboot the phone.
If the phone still won't boot, go into bootloader before connecting to RSD lite. To go into bootloader, power off your phone, then hold in the volume+ button and the power button at the same time. After about 5 seconds, release the buttons. The bootloader should display – it will show the version and a battery check. (If that doesn’t work, pull the battery, then put it back in while holding the volume+ and power buttons.) Then connect USB cable and use RSD Lite to flash sbf again.

Hi. So i kinda repaired my defy but it still has a problem. It does not want to charge without using MCGyver method. Everything else works fine, except the phone does not detect my battery so instead it shows a question mark. BTW i deleted by mistake the sbf but i know it was chinese. Only that sbf worked. Could you find me a good working sbf?

[Q] defy stuck at motorola boot screen after flash

i flash my phone with a custom rom from this forum
succesfull until RSD Lite step
after RSD Lite, my phone stuck at Motorola logo with blur
tried pull off and pulling on the batery with power and volume up, it got back to bootloader screen
try aother RSD Power, it is still the same
Progress till 100 persen, but the phone stucked at motorola blur logo
any solution, guys?
thanks
What were you trying to flash?
I try to upgrade to froyo.
it stuck after RSD Lite step
Well first, is your phone rooted? Secondly, what stock version did you have?
I think I can get you up and running with Froyo
you may try to install your original version/build number sbf. if its work, maybe you can try flash froyo ROM again. then when you finished restore custom ROM all you have to do is go to bootloader then flash boot/devtree only sbf.. dont pull usb connection. but if RSD want you to turn phone manually then you need to press power button even though your phone at booting state..
i got the same problem, everything was working fine before i done it a couple times but then i used miui and my phone battery died and it wouldnt work after that so i decided to flash with rsd lite and after doing everything normally its just stuck at the motorola and moto blur symbol/animation thing. really frustrating.

did you find fix?
What SBF file did you use?
Have you tried another file?
get into stock recover (Vol Up + Power) then wipe data/cache
Half Bricked
I have an Mb525 rooted (that was) running stock 2.2 Blurred. I installed the Defy boot loader and hard reset/wiped partitions and (tried to) install cm7 from SD, it installs fine, goes fine, everything is all set. Reboot the device and the splash image pops up with the white LED first, then the blue one for boot loader, and finally the green one. It stays on splash screen. I tried 2 different versions of cm7 and both do the same thing. I'm able to access the boot loader, it just doesn't finish loading whatever I flash onto it.
As my phone is dysfunctional, I would appreciate it if you could contact me through my Skype;

I won't receive emails.. =/

Solution
I had this problem. Found a solution at 4pda.ru
1. Shut down your phone.
2. Hold Volume- button, press Power button for 2 seconds. Then release both.
3. When you see Android robot press together both Volume+ and Volume- buttons.
4. Erase both Cache and Data.
5. Reboot.
Your phone should boot normally.

You verified the CG version before flashing the full SBF ??
you can still flash a new rom threw rsd lite.
I would say you done the same as me I tried to flash a version with a lower version and it wouldnt boot at all.
Power the phone on holding the volume up button and connect the USB, It wont show the bootloader screen but RSD lite should say its connected.
You might have to plug it in and out of the usb cable a few times (well I did) till RSD lite connects to it.
You will have to find out what version you had previously and flash the same version or higher (try to stay on the same version if you can)
Dunno if stock recovery would help:
How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything
This is a copy/paste from all in one guide
if its like mine the screen does not show anything, you cant get into bootloader or recovery screen. Well I think it goes into bootloader as RSD lite can read it but it will not show anything on the screen.
I think my problem was trying to install the CM9 kernel as I used the same process and left out flashing the CM9 kernel and it worked perfect, Lucky some one that helped me get my phone working again suggested this to me.
So I now have ICS working by just installing it and Gapps and left out the CM9 kernel
Not sure if that is what you are trying to do but you should be able to flash a new rom with what I said above. Just making sure its the same BL version as your previous install
Thz for all your help,I can fix my defy+ since I using bl7 sbf
I think I will root it and flash other rom soon

flashing SBF; stuck on 'ANDROID' can't turn phone on manually!

So, flashing SBF 2.2 CEE everything was correct until SBF lite said 'please turn phone on manually' and I try but.. nothing happens. on the screen I just have the android word with a white blink just looping.
I tried and tried (to be sure it wasn't the damn button) but nothing happens
What do you recommend? disconnect USB cable? disconnect battery? I don't wanna brick it!
Edit: I disconnected USB and Battery, turned on phone, entered recovery (power + volume down) until i got the android with the ! orange symbol. Then pressed volume up +volume down and on that menu wiped the cache and data. after that reboot phone and it worked

Defy Dead!!

I was using cm10 2/11 for defy green lens.. I flashed indian froyo.. and it didn't boot up.. but when I connect to my comp it shows a white light... and gets detected in rsd lite.. so I flashed Chinese sbf .. den the phone was again black and not booting... not it is not getting detected on my comp but it is showing white led light.. plz help out...:crying:
Try this:
1. Pull out the phone battery
2. Put it back in the phone and press and hold volume down + power button and hold it for about 6-7 seconds, then release.
3. If a Robot logo appeared, you are lucky. Now press volume up + down at the same time, or press back button.
4. You should be in stock recovery now, touch Wipe data and then wipe cache. After that, press Reboot and the system should boot up
Also, a warning: I was flashing that chinese .sbf numerous times, and the result is bricked flashlight. So, flash it only when you need to!

[Q] Defy bricked, White led on top, not recognized by Rsdlite or Windows

Hi, My problem started when i tried to do some wipes to flash my phone:
My phone is a Defy 525 red lense with BL7 (Defy +)
While i try to do some wipes, like wipe data/cache, my phone seems to wipe data/cache for ever, never end or sometimes it just reset at the middle of the process.
Wipe cache just stay in wipe cache or ever.
I try to just flash with rsd lite the European not roored BL7, and it stuck at moto logo.
I try some wipes and the same happend.
Then i try to flash German Rooted BL7 and work, but its seems stranger while the phone start (the white screen with pinks letters seems to take more time than normal flash i do before), but the phone worked, battery was at 80%
Now i turn off the phone, i try some wipes, and the same happend, i just reset at the middle of the wipe data/dache.
I try again and my phone turn off and never turn on again.
Always with White Led.
My phone is no recognized by rsd lite and with the guides i follow like "connect usb the phone w/o battery, press and hold vol+ and power, connect the battery" and looks my computer seems the phone connected then "insttlling drivers" and after 2 secs it get disconnected, and drivers install fail.
Same for other metods like "press vol bot keys and power, connect battery, connect usb" or "connect usb, press bot vol and power, connect bat" or "press vol + and power, connect battery, connect usb"
I have 2.3.9 motorola drivers and rsd lite updated and not updated.
My battery seems to be fine, i tested it and looks with 80% charged.
And it was tested by another guy with 100% charged battery.
Thx for ur time Guys.

If you can't boot after BL7 flash and data + cache wipe from stock recovery, your phone may have a hardware issue
