Change kitkat lockscreen wallpaper? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Jellybean allowed you to change either lockscreen or home wallpaper. Now kitkat changes both at once it doesn't ask which one you wanna change, or am I completely missing it? I Googled it and can't seem to figure this out -.- this is on Beanstalk on my s4, girlfriends Verizon s3, and friends att s3. so I know it's not just me lol.

Its not intuitive at all. I installed a theme and then couldn't get rid of the lockscreen wallpaper. A theme can override your normal wallpaper by setting a lock screen wallpaper. To fix this you need to go to settings -> themes -> lock screen wallpaper -> clear
Took me awhile to figure this out. Hope it helps someone else.

Anyone else's lock screen do this?

So I have preview messages in lock screen and status bar checked on. Why is it that when I click on the message in my lock screen this blank box appears that I can't do anything with? Never had so many questions about a phone considering I get so many a year. I've attached a picture for reference.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
It's a built in function. For instance, once you click on the text, you swipe in the box below and your phone goes right to the text.

From what I've been able to tell, the swipe on that lock screen is actually a widget. The box that sometimes appears is the area where the swipe trail can be triggered.
Swipe down on the message notification, then you can click on the text message notification on the lockscreen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
that helps, although I dont see the point in bringing the box up. Not like it really matters where you swipe as it will unlock.

Its no unlocking the phone by swiping the box down. Its "enabling" the lockscreen text messaging widget that google implemented in 4.2, because by default samsung overrode the aosp lockscreen with its swip from anywhere.

That is correct, there is no way.
I guess it's been awhile since I used my s3 and it's just something I will get used to.
very simple to get rid of that box...... but it requires using a different messaging app that is the only way right now until roms are built

Don't think so.
LG G2
Yup already tried that, only gives you options for gallery as in pictures, not live wallpapers!! Someone must know
I think it isn't possible. I tried..

(REQ) live wallpaper on lockscreen

Is it possible to modify the lock screen settings to allow a live wallpaper option? I know this can be done standard on aosp/cm roms. Looking for a mod on the LG side of things.
I know there was alot of lag on my wife's g pro phone with live wallpapers in general. I wonder LG set it that way so there would be no/less lag.

On the DNA, you had the option of setting up the lockscreen with a Live Wallpaper. It wasn't a special mod or anything, it just came that way. Probably part of the Sense overlay. In any case, it was a standard available option.

I understand. LG also doesn't support root, custom recovery, and changing icons in the status bar. These options aren't impossible so why would a live wallpaper be impossible?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
First you set LWP on your homescreen.
Open build.prop file and edit this line from:
Code:
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=true
to
Code:
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=false
Reboot your device.
Now you will see same LWP on your lockscreen too.
Root is required.

How difficult is that to understand that it is not supported??!! There is no point in arguing when I know what the fact is. Maybe a REAL DEV as you call can do it, but AFAIK no one can/could till date.

I had high hopes that this would work, but it doesn't work on my device (Stock, rooted). Every time I edit the buildprop and reboot as it prompts, it resets value back to true...hmm. Any suggestions?

I have one question. Did you save changes? And after saving make sure you set the build.prop file permission properly.
It worked for me on stock but changed my lockscreen to the aosp lockscreen

I have updated g2 to kitkat. Can't find the setting in build prop to change lockscreen to AOSP. Please help as what should be edited to get live wallpaper on lock screen

Can't remove this icon from homescreen! Which app is it?

This icon with a white background and black person inside a circle appeared on my homescreen today. What app is doing this and how do I get rid of it?
Screenshot http://i.imgur.com/USGDi6M.png
Greetings, you should be able to Disable this Icon in your Phone Settings
Go to the General Tab and tap Accessibillity there Disable the Universal Touch Feature
I'd probably edit the post to say silhouette instead of something pottentially offensive to some.

Don't be silly and read it in context. Obviously doesn't mean a "'black skinned" person.
And the accessibility options for universal touch is correct as I've enabled this before.

Yeah, it doesn't work. It's just like Blocking Mode when the S3 was originally released. You could find it and turn it on in a similar way, but it didn't actually do anything when turned on (even though the icon was displayed in the task bar just like it is for this).

Yup the GN2 was the same way. It required extensive code to get it working right due to the integration with TouchWiz. I am hoping this might be quite a bit simpler.
I am going to compare the t-mobile code and the vzw code to see the differences.
