[Q] Import Duty - Glass General

Hi, I have a friend that is willing to send me Glass from the US to UK.
Do anyone know how much will i get taxed? (via shipping)
Thanks.

By the way,
I have declared the goods for 500 dollars instead of 1500,
the tax comes up to near 80 pounds.

in germany that would be tax fraud.... and they are very good in finding it out

Also tax fraud in the UK and not hard to spot. Customs are pretty hot on it and all that will happen is they will be taken

Its a grey area,
1. There is no retail price tag on the device.
2. Its not brand new, sold off second hand by a friend. Hence cannot set RRP on the device.
3. Declared it as a "Camera and Video Recording Device" which then is not totally inappropriate. (still a device that does picture and videos).
just my 2 cents.

It wouldn't be worth it even if you could get someone in the UK to ship to you as the Samsung cashback can only be claimed in the UK and only one plus it uses the registration details when first set up according to the conditions. Surely you would get import duty plus the high cost of postage would bring it in line with us prices ? Plus any issues would need shopping back to the uk ...
Xpansys in the US are selling at $499 which works out at £314

I picked up on this deal a week ago when I got John Lewis to do a price match for me vs Tesco!
Crazy to see this tablet so cheap, it's brilliant! And sooooo much better than the Tab 2 10.1, which is nearly the same price!!!

No, the Tab 2 10,1 is also reduced:
Tab 2 10.1 = £238 - £50 Samsung Cashback = £188
Note 10.1 = £318 - 50 Samsung Cashback = £268
Not sure I'd say £80 difference is 'nearly the same price'.
These prices are valid at Tesco, Argos and John Lewis (at least)
Argos currently offering a free £10 gift card if you spend over £100 too (offer ends today!)

I had an email from Samsung saying that I could get £100 off if I sent in my old Nokia N95 8gb as I had purchased the S3, I registered as at the time Tesco didn't have the £318 deal, I was getting the note for 299 + my phone, I emailed in saying that it was a poor deal as my Nokia was still a useful phone and worth more than £20 to me, anyway to cut the story short the note has now been sent without me returning the phone all for £299.99 I sure as hell hope I can get the £50 cash back.

Agh, I paid 480 euros just a month ago and it seems I'm not even eligible for the cashback as I bought before the 24th. It's great for most but I'm feeling a bit annoyed that the price had gone this low already given that it had only just been released here. I was thinking prices might drop after Christmas which wouldn't be so bad, but it's ridiculous for those who bought a new product so recently.

All electronic products come down in price or better spec newline the same price. I bought back mine for 319 about week ago from Tesco.
Got the Galaxy Note 10.1 for £234.99 on Thursday at PC World with price matching at Tesco and Argos after £80 cashback
PC world price £399
Tesco and Argos £318
10% of £82 Rounded it down too £8 and adjusted till price to £310
had to buy a cover to qualify for £80 cashback so cheapest cover £4.99
Galaxy Note 10.1 for £234.99
This took a bit of arguing before they would accept their own price promise but got there in the end

No. It doesn't support AWS and it doesn't support Band IV LTE. The ZL will at least to the LTE side of things. With T-Mobile you have to be pretty careful as their network is quite different to most.

By importing do you mean to Egypt? I think you'll really have problems getting one shipped to Egypt for $229 total, and tax would generally be up your local authority.

The 229 for the 16gb is before tax and shipping in many states, sales tax percentage differs from state to state and county to county, where some states don't charge a sales tax, and others do. I live in Chicago which is Cook County, and we have one of the highest sales tax percentages in all the US @ 10.25% so if I were to buy a 16gb from a local brick and mortar store it would cost me with tax, about 252.47...all depends where you are in the states....that said I ordered mine off Amazon the wkend right before the launch date, and mine came to be 238, as amazon doesnt charge tax yet in IL (I chose saturday delivery for 9 bux more with prime).

its standard to quote the prices before taxes. the reason is that some states have no tax (as mentioned) and the others all vary wildly as to what the tax rate is. quoting a price with tax would therefore be inaccurate for most...

Color: Black
Model: Moto Dual Chip G 16GB.
* And consult parents received the custom house to see their import laws you have to pay customs fees.
I'll just upload the product after receiving the money in the bank account debited. Thus the purchase will be accredited by the website store. And of 5-7 days I get the unit. And so will be sent to your recipient.
Nothing personal, but I don't see why anyone would pay over twice the price for a dual SIM version of this phone...It would make more sense to buy two phones, at least I have twice the product and still would have the same functionality, I would just leave one at home when I went overseas! Be a little more reasonable, something like $50 would probably go, maybe $75.

400 dollars for the 16gb dual chip colors edition variant including shipping.
Payment trough paypal.
The phone itself costs something about 305-350 for the 16gb dual chip. So the price vary depending on the store you buy it and the payment method. Here's a bunch of links fo brazilian stores that are currently selling this variant, so you can confirm the prices:
http://www.americanas.com.br/
www.magazineluiza.com
RicardoEletro.com
http://www.submarino.com.br/
http://www.walmart.com.br/
For internacional shipping there are 3 post modalities.:
Here they are,
First Modality (EMS):
3 to 5 days -> R$ 116,00 (something about 51 dollars) and a maximum weight of 30kg
ps.: You can choose to add a $ 86,00 dollars insurance
Second Modality (Econômico):
13 to 14 days -> R$ 58,00 (something about 26 dollars) and a maximum weight of 20kg
ps.: You can choose to add a $ 43,00 dollars insurance
Third Modality (Leve Internacional):
5 to 7 days -> R$ 52,00 (something about 23 dollars) and a maximum wright of 2kg
ps.: You can choose to add a $ 43,00 dollars insurance
These prices are an estimative to ship for Europe. USA may be something about it too.
So it would be 350 for the phone and 23 dolaars for shipping or a total of 373 dollars. I just ask for 400 dollars because of paypal money transfer fees.

US z2 released.

Its great that its a 6503 because for those of us in the US who have the international 6503, we don't really have warranties. Maybe now we can somehow get warranty work done if needed, since the models are so close.
Sony's Xperia care has you covered, it's a global warranty program that will cover you, regardless of where you got your phone.
I say this because I bought an unlocked D6503 off eBay (Taiwan 大哥大 branding), it suffered water damage, and Sony replaced it. (The white water detection papers weren't wet, the phone must have leaked somewhere else.) So, now I have English versions of the manuals

I'd like to know this too. Just bought today after waiting for US availability and then realizing the US price was insane.
I got a new D6503, noise canceling headphones, two official docks, a 32GB MicroSDHC card and an 18-month warranty plus two day shipping for less than the phone unshipped with sales tax would've cost me from Sony.

Sweet deal. Im in the same boat with you. The total from sony with 2year warranty was like $843 for me.
Does Expansys charge tax? Im assuming no.

How long ago was this and how long did it take?

good news for those waiting to buy / on the fence about the Z2. (like me.)
with the possibility of Sony shipping millions more of these units, maybe they've tightened up their manufacturing/quality control process, and worked out a solution to the overheating camera, the self-cracking glass, the earpiece volume, etc.
one can hope?
Newegg has it for $599

but thier return policy sucks
I'd really like to know more about the Sony warranty that was mentioned earlier. I am almost positive they will try to deny a warranty for a phone that was purchased outside of your region. For example if you bought a 6503 two months ago before the USA 6503 was announced, and then called Sony USA to have a warranty replacement done, they would just claim that the model nunmber isn't in their database and there is nothing they can do. I went through this with Morola last year.

They know which region it was sold for, though.
Unless somebody can show a Sony document saying this product (or Sony Xperia smartphones in general) have an international warranty, they almost certainly don't.
If anyone can afford this and obtains, please post ftf.

Just found out. US firmware is already out. What was thought was Canada's firmware as their unbranded phones is actually using US generic firmware.
Awesome thanks... I was running the unbranded Singapore firmware on my D6503 bought from amazon. Downloading the US firmware and flashing now
