Soak test incoming! - RAZR HD General

Got the invite a few minutes ago:
Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx on Verizon Wireless to participate in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback. If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR Maxx, please excuse and ignore this email.

I think that soak update is for the Razr phones, not the Razr Maxx HD and like.

Did you have a OG Razr or OG RAZR MAXX at one point? If so, and you still have it registered on the Moto site, then that's probably why you got it.
Or, if you've never had an OG RAZR/RAZR MAXX, did you register on the Moto site but mistakenly registered you had a RAZR/RAZR MAXX instead of a RAZR HD? That might be why you got it.

Wireless Hotspot hack procedure *Working*

****** UPDATE - Foxfi is no longer free - This hack still works!*******
Hi guys another poster tipped me off to the entilement hack to get the stock hotspot app working and I tried it and it works. I figured i would post it here to take care of people waiting for a foxfi update and to keep the procedure listed in the RAZR HD section. As always, use at your own risk.
Here's what you need:
SQL Lite Editor (not the manager) - it's $2.99 from the play store.
Here is the procedure:
1) Open SQL Lite Editor and in the default "Apps" list, scroll all the way down to "Settings Storage" but you must choose the one with the hammer and wrench graphic. There are two choices there - gotta be hammer and wrench. Tap on it to open.
2) Tap "settings.db" then tap "settings"
3) Scroll down to line 68 where it says "entitlement_check" and tap on it to highlight it and then tap on the pencil on the top of the screen to edit it.
4) Change the value from 1 to 0 and tap "save"
5) Use the back button to exit the app and hold the power button and reboot the phone.
When it starts back up just go into the "Mobile Hotspot" app provided by verizon and you're all set!
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot about this hack from Bionic days..

Shoot...I came across your post and had to say I agree! I have a One X & an Atrix HD. I totally understand where you're coming from
So I'm getting an issue here. First off I followed the directions but I don't see a pencil anywhere. Regardless, I selected line 68 and hit the menu button to open it up and edit it. Problem is, I'm getting "error code 14: unable to open database file". Anybody got a tip?
EDIT: Nevermind, issue resolved. Downloaded an old APK which wouldn't do it. Guess I'm going to have to buy it now that it worked...

Pretty much the same trail I followed to the RAZR HD (with the regular RAZR and Maxx mixed in) although I have always been a Motorola fan since back in the dumbphone days (e815)

Me too!
Thunderbolt (Voice and Data on 3G!)
Bionic (Horrible Radio!)
Droid Razr (Didn't get to use it that much, damn Best Buy mobile sold me a used/touched/tampered phone!)
Rezound (Best Radio, Ever! Superb screen for its size)
Galaxy Nexus (Horrible radio, great development community)
GS3 (Better radio than GN - just wished the radio was on par with the Rezound, cheap build quality, great hardware specs)
Razr Maxx HD (Great build quality! Expected more from a Moto Radio)

I'm thinking about jumping from my SGS3 to the Razr HD Dev edition. Are you having buyer's remorse or would you do it again. I'm dropping way to many calls with my SGS3, even more than I did with the GNex. I really miss Moto's build quality..

Thought I'd tip you all to this, FoxFi works if you download the add-on thats in the play store for FoxFi.
by using this hack, when i use the USB tethering, I will be using up the Data i have on my plan correct? the only thing is that i dont have to pay for the Hotspot?
Anybody try out barnacle? If not I can test it out.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Yes nearly every app had been tested essentially, including barnacle. Nothing worked when the phone was released.
Now, Foxfi has been updated and it works so hopefully all the others follow suit as well. Feel free to test it out and report back.
Barnacle is a no go

I 2nd ur opinion on expecting more from the radio. It just doesn't seen to get enough signal bars as other previously owned moto devices. I haven't had any dropped calls yet, but can't really complain it is a new device and maybe it can be fixed on a future update!

[Q] CyanogenMod and the Razr M

Just switched to the Razr M from the Samsung Fascinate and have a couple of questions:
1. Is CM10 available for the Razr M (I have seen one Alpha build, but nothing else).
2. Is it possible to use Cyanogenmod made for the Razr HD, Razr, or Razr Maxx on the Razr M? I would assume not, but it can't hurt to ask.
3. Does anyone know if CM10.1 and/or Android 4.2 is supposed to come out for the Razr M at some point?
Thanks
Look around on board a bit. We talk about this everyday. The cm alpha is all we got

I would much rather have 4.2.
I may be missing something and I haven't read the forums recently so I apologize if this is old news, but you can manually update here....

Just updates using the above method, havent noticed a difference yet, and i would much rather have 4.2 as well but until they come out with the stand alone flash zip like the one above or the OTA for it, ill wait.

hdmi is working better and the quality has improved. Lapdock works better, still not like on ICS but they upgraded resolution to 720x1280.
I got the update this afternoon..
I guess it was mainly a software update of tweaks here and there, post any changes here if you find something worth sharing.

Droid zap for note 3

I really like the idea of droid zap. Is there a way to do this on the note 3? Or a Samsung app that does the same thing?

The "Droid Zap" application works with any Android device running 4.0 or higher. It will work on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 despite being manufactured by Motorola.
Here's the download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.zap&hl=en
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the help. I was under the impression that the app only works for droid devices.

Nope. The underlying OS for the "Droid" device is Android so as long as you're running the proper version and your phones internals can sustain the applications performance requirements, you will be fine.
Hope this helps!

Droid RAZR Maxx HD forum

Is there on this lovely xda forums a forum for the Droid RAZR Maxx HD as opposed to the Droid RAZR HD? Or because the only difference is the battery and the storage size it doesn't need its own forum? Also, the Droid RAZR M is different phone altogether correct?
Thanks,

Again, no hardware difference between the two except storage and battery which doesn't affect the software. It would be pointless to have a forum specifically for the MAXX HD as there is no difference between the two hardware-wise that would necessitate a separate forum for it.
