Play Ouya Games On The MOJO - M.O.J.O. General

Hi all
I just wanted to let you know that you can play all the Ouya games on your MOJO
Every Ouya game seems to work very well or even better than on the Ouya. If you use the CTRL, some buttons seem to be mapped wrong, but this is not a big problem, most of the games can be played. If you own an Ouya, then you can even use the Ouya controller on the mojo, where you do not have wrong mapped buttons.
The only issue is that you can't buy the full version of the games. But most of those games are free anyway. And all of the games are free to try. This way, you can play 500+ great games on the MOJO :good:
Visit the following link, where you can download APK's of all Ouya games, then sideload them to your Mojo:
ouyalytics.com
At the moment, my favorite game to play on the MOJO is the following:
ouyalytics.com/app/589-Killing-Floor:-Calamity
Have fun! May the MOJO force be with you
EDIT:
I didn't test enough games last time and it seems I had a few lucky punches in the first place. After a few more tests my opinion is this:
1. Not every game works with the Ouya controller
2. Only about 10% of the games work with the CTRLR controller
3. Every game runs on the MOJO without crashing

http://ouyalytics.com/app/589-Killing-Floor:-Calamity/
Wow amazing!
I'll be checking that out for sure!
I'm sure the ouya launcher can be installed, letting you also pay for games.
The irony is really funny
Thanks for letting us know!

You are welcome
I actually did try the ouya launcher, but it didn't work. It crashes when starting.
I tested a few more games and for now it seems like about 30% of the ouya games work with the CTRL Controller. Maybe we can share experiences which games work with the MOJO controller? Let me start:
Killing Floor: Calamity - works like a charm, but L2 and R2 are flipped and also DPad up and down are flipped
KNIGHTMARE TOWER - works like a charm, no issues
CANABALT HD - works like a charm

Another remark:
The Android internet browser seems to crash if you are on the overview (or search-) page at ouyalytics. So what I do is to search on google for a particular game like this:
ouyalytics killing floor
Then you can pick the first link google offers, where you land on the page to download the game.

Thanks again for the ouya tip!
I found it so easy to install emulators from:
http://dayoftheouya.com/a-list-of-all-known-emulators-for-ouya/
Which all support controllers and doesn't require switching to mouse mode, the UI is controller friendly
I installed these:
N64: Mupen64Plus AE
I start with the OUYA layout and change the D-pad and Z trigger button.
Easy to map controls, works well.
Roms must be .z64
Configure the graphics plug-in using the 10th Anniversary option, works the best.
Actually plays better then I expected! most work fine including FPS, I noticed driving games not that good.
SNES: Snes9xPlus
Works well, create a new profile and set the CTRLR.
Roms must be .smc
If you don't know which to get, I can recommend the .emu ones, easy to setup.
NES: NES.emu
Sega MegaDrive/Genius: MD.emu
Or just install this (haven't had time to try it):
http://dayoftheouya.com/ouya/retroarch
Includes most Sega/Nintendo consoles, Doom/Quake & PSX
Setting up the emulators,I recommend connecting at least a mouse to configure the controller.
All 8/16bit games I've tested run at speed, I haven't tried PSX yet.
When I get time, i'll make a vide and show it off.

I can confirm NES.emu, SuperGNES, GBC.emu, GBA.emu, DraStic, FPSE, NEO.emu, MD.emu, PCE.emu, SAT.emu, PPSSPP, and SuperN64 (A branch of Mupen64).
All work flawlessly except PPSSPP (doesn't support the D-PAD at the moment, and sound is laggy). Also, DraStic is really wonky because it models the DS touchscreen....Works with a mouse, but that feels strange to use the controller and a mouse....Then again, it's sort of like using a Wii. Heh..

There is an app market which contains only free and open source apps and games. I found it pretty useful for the MOJO. There you can also find all the emulators and every app/game you downloaded will be updated automatically
Here it is:

To map retroarch controller,
So if you click the bug guy, settings, input device, and switch to ouya, the cntrl works perfect with all rom games.
Start button does not work on some roms and the mouse mode is required to push start.
Mojo is not listed in the list of devices.
Madcatz USB PC was listed. Haven't tried it yet.

yeah i gave up on retro arch because of the controller mapping... Didn't like it.
I use the .emu emulators start with the ouya config and check all the buttons, some need fixing but its very quick and easy.

I'm going to send retro arch programmer the mojo button coordinates so that he can add mojo to the list of devices.
they also need to add a "save input device" feature, otherwise you have to change the input device for every game.

That's true and it's mapping setting isn't that great, but yeah good idea, they'll need the hex code for each button, which is here:

Is this all so that the Ouya version of Retroarch will work?
Why not just keep it simply and use the android only version?
Is there a benefit in using Ouya version over the one I mentioned?

The reason I mentioned the android version is that's what a mod suggested over at the official forum. Yet, he isn't familiar with this device and I'm not sure if the touch device limitation will affect that port. It shouldn't.
That said, should I be worried about the lack of touch screen insofar as the emulators are concerned? I mean, I should still be able to use FPse or other similar emulators like N64 AE, just map it to the controller or use PS3 controller if nothing else, right? Curious to know if this is the achille heel of this console.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with it....After all the troubles I've had, I still play on it daily. I have all my console games on it and all apps properly map the MOJO. I've gotta wait to root mine until I get the proper cable, but I'll probably switch to using a mouse and the PS3 controller.
I use all the emulators. They all are fine without touchscreen. Mouse mode on the controller works just fine to navigate menus. Don't worry about that aspect.
The only flaw I'm seeing so far is that there are so few people who actually bought one...Which means there won't be many devs to adopt the system and create custom ROMs or OC kernels. I always seem to get in on those things that few people actually use...The A700 tablet, for instance...Or the Asus Slider SL101...Yeah...Bad choices when it comes to customization (when you don't know how to do it yourself, I mean.)
I'd love to work on a ROM, but I have neither the time or the knowledge to do so.
Okay, I thought of another flaw (which has apparently been fixed through root): Lack of accessibility to previously purchased apps and games for the MOJO. At least the OUYA has their own market and made no claims that you could access what you've already bought (which MadCatz did). That's a bad thing...Very...Very...Bad.

Anyone using a PS3 controller on their A500?

Anyone using a PS3 Sixxaxis controller on their A500 under ICS?
Are we using this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.
Or is there another way due to the built in ICS support for controllers?
So far that's the best way that I know of. I use it when I play MC3, 9mm or GTA and others. Look for profiles here at XDA or do a nice Google search for sixaxis profiles. You should find plenty.
The Sixaxis seems to work without the program. I went in while it was plugged in and set my input device to game controller and enabled it. When I plug in the controller I just press the PS button and it works. Well it works for Dead trigger which supports native controllers.
Its too late already spent the $2 on Sixaxis, but does that app do anything that the native android support doesn't?
A lot of games (Gameloft games for an example) do not have controller support built in. So whether you need it or not depends on which games you play. The games with native support built in handle it much better than having to use the app, but on the ones that don't, SixAxis helps.

Ok cool, just wanted to make sure I didn't waste my 2 bucks.
Not at all. You will really like it if you get some Gameloft games like Modern Combat 3. It's pretty sweet playing the game on a big tv via hdmi while using a wireless remote. Just be sure and if you buy their games, get them through the play store. You'll get to install the games over an over when flashing different roms. If you mess with Gameloft directly you'll have less than a good time sending emails back and forth. Don't get me wrong, they always fix the problems and toss in bonus stuff for the trouble. But it's so much easier to just hit the play store.

Ohh I've learned already about them. I have a ton of their games on Xperia Play but I had to buy direct from them because they made specific versions with Play controls enabled, the Google Play store versions wouldn't work. They've since stopped this practice, but they had done it on purpose to gouge people who bought the "gaming phone".
Mine works with out anything extra on GTAIII. I hate though that the controls are mapped wrong and that you can't remap them. For example, Square is X. Doesn't seem to be a GTAIII problem as using the controler to navigate the home screen does the same thing.

if you have sixaxis installed i can easily make or show you how to make a button map for gta3 and any other games it is really piss easy.
say like left analogue stick, you just select left analogue stick from menu and drag-n-drop it to where you want. same for button square, x, o , triangle...,,,,etc
I am using the sixaxis program and it works great. I too put off spending the $2 dollars and wish I had bought it sooner. Other than the few emulators I have needed to be told to allow for the controller to control the game even though it would allow me to assign buttons. No lag or other problems with the nes, snes, and genesis emulators that I have tried.

Minecraft with wii classic controller possible.

I have been researching this all day... Is there any way to play minecraft on the nexus 7 with a wii classic controller is something similar? if so. What app or settings do i need.
Thanks
No. Unless there is a cable converter to usb for wii classic controller.
There are many ways to get the wiimote and classic or sixaxis or the Logitech line of controllers to work with Android.
Some games have the ability to map controllers and others don't.
First the wiimote will have to be tested to see if it can even attach to the N7.
You can download wiimote controller app from the playstore and see if it attaches properly. Bluetooth is requires on the tablet/phone.
Now that app is simple enough there is another app that goes to extreme lengths to give you lots of options. USB/BT Joystick Center 6 will allow the largest selection of controllers/keyboard/mice to be used in lots of fashions. This app will need the Joystick2Touch add-on to allow touch inputs for other games that you cannot map to. It sets up the controllers in the same fashion the sixaxis app does for the sixaxis controller. There is also other apps and controllers like Bluez IME and Gamepad Enabler that allow other controllers to have very narrow but perfect support with little fuss on setting up. But as I said Joystick center covers all that but you must take some time to get it all to work.
Now what you can do with that is limitless, but I must tell you have tried.
The problem with some games is they have to much dependency on the touchscreen. Minecraft is one of those. I was able to map the walk, but not the look around. Also anytime you entered a menu that had lots of choices, i.e. inventory or a chest, there was simply no way to map all the spots so touching the screen was the only way to make it happen. I have asked the devs to add directional pad support for those areas to that moving the d-pad would move a highlight around to the different boxes. I also asked if they could add support for joystick looking around. I never received a response.
There is also a new controller on the market called Moga. It looks promising, but again support stems back to the developer of the game and whether they can be bothered to work on it.
So in short, yes you can control lots of games and apps with controllers, you just have to take the time to maps them out, but once you do it is a joy to play Android games on the big screen!

Games on Android stick computers

So far, I have observed that few games are not working on MK-808. Few such games not working are temple run, bad piggies, talking tom, silibili etc.
As per my understanding, many games are configured such that it requires larger touch to operate than mouse courser can provide. Hence, these games are not able to take input with mouse.
Can someone find solution?
Yesterday tried pitfall and same issue....
I am not developer / software guy...so don't know how to fix it myself...
In droidmote, this issue is resolved by increasing pointer size...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT6bAMUUWg0
I don't want to use my android mobile as mouse...
I want someone patch this feature in default ROM or make some app, so that I can use my RC12 mouse to operate these games...
So far, I have found this stick fantastic except only this issue which is creating game compatibility issue...
I believe it's serious issue but should not be very difficult to resolve...as already done in droidmote app
Problem game MK808B
Hello, I have the same problem. Please anybody, how to fix problem.
Thanks.
You would have to ask each developer to update their app to support other input methods besides touch screens.

Don't sweat the simple stuff. You had to obviously know that some games just won't be playable without a touchscreen.
With the rise of Android sticks and Ouya coming... controller support will become the norm. Remember official controller support only JUST started to become mainstream (even though some of us have been doing it for years).
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
The best games for such devices are One-Button games
on my Equiso, i play Canabalt and Jetpack Joyride. these two awesome games need only one button to control the actions. or games that doesn't require multi-touch the whole time, i play also Tapped Out (the simpsons game) and it works flawlessly. just stay away from arcade games like where you need to get moving and jumping and shooting at the same time.
i'm always searching for new ones and it's not easy.
hi
I have installed the finless 1.7 and bad piggies works well with the rktools app on my tablet or S3 to control my android tv. Also other games (in particular mame and n64oid) work superb with a wired xbox controller.
Only game i have had issues with is templerun 3 - i cant seem to get the gyro to work . Annoying but not the end of the world
I have read good thing about droidmote - i might buy that to see if that is any better.

You mean you have installed Finless 1.7 ROM on MK-808, because I PM finless and he said he requires lots of work to solve this issue so he has not planned to take care this issue.
If his own 1.7 ROM automatically resolves this matter, he should be aware of it.
Also, does it work without rktools, I mean with mouse?
One more question,
1.7 is not meant for MK-808 device. So, is it OK to use it?
<Edit>
It is the RKRemoteControl that is making possible to play games and not ROM.
Some update here
http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....on-SS808-(MK808)&p=52013&viewfull=1#post52013
Hi,
Mine is a cheap one that i got off ebay. i think it is mk809 or ug802. But it works well with XBMC (SD only) and a ton of emulator games that i have tried.
The RKRemote app is bundled with the finless 1.7 package. This remote app does not work on the standard rom and neither does the xbox controller. But both remote app and controller work really well on the finless rom. Still struggling to get gyro working though.

Emulators thread. Emulators that are working for the Fire TV

My biggest reason for buying this was using it for emulation and I've tried countless different emulators for NES, SNES and Sega and the three I've found these three to work the best. The menus, the layout, gamepad detection and compatibility (xbox360) all work the best with it.
I did pay for all of these because they work flawlessly, Robert offers free versions as well so you can try them out.
NES: NES.emu
Super Nintendo: Snes9x EX+
Sega: MD.emu
PSX:
FPse
For the 360 pad, the triggers don't work and the back/start buttons are tied to the emulator menu and can't change them. Developer is currently working on the triggers as of last weekend when I emailed him about them being buggy.[update 7-27-2014] Still no update or email from developer. Issue still present.
ePSXe
1.9.20 was sent to me by the developer to test the triggers for the X360 gamepad and have confirmed they work. Start button is tied to emulator menu. Not that big an issue since you can just set start button to an analog click. Everything seems to be in working order.
ePSXe works fine in landscape mode. Navagating it via gamepad is fine as well unless that is untrue with the Fire TV as I have no issues doing so on my Kindle Fire HDX my only issue is no sound but that seems to work fine on the Fire TV tho from what I have been reading.
Any suggestions for Nintendo 64? I'd love one more crack at Goldeneye. :good:
The original Mupen64Plus AE or CoolN64 should be what you're looking for.
Too bad the original seldom updates nowadays.
We are waiting on either the developer Paul,or anyone else that is capable of compiling a build with the much needed fixes like Banjo-Tooie and plugin updates.
Maybe someone can ask the CoolN64 developer to add the patches that fix Banjo-Tooie and the DelaySI function as well.
Or anyone here that is source code mod savvy could make a modded version with fixes and other changes.
Why has DK64 never been fixed for Mupen64Plus AE when Wii64 (mupen64/plus port) could actually run it with collisions and level loaders intact?
Does it have to be some sort of special xbox360 controller?
My wireless controller doesn't work. And yes, I connected the cable.
My biggest problem with the emulators is I can't figure out how to get them to work via XBMC and store the roms on a network drive instead of locally on the firetv. Is anyone using the emulators this way?

that doesn't work how you think it does lmao.
The cable that plugs into the wireless doesn't send a data signal. It's sole purpose is to charge. You'll need an xbox 360 wireless adapter for PC to get it to work.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2
That's just an example. You can find them cheaper on ebay but the official one is the one labeld "Microsoft". The rest are knockoffs, whether or not they will work on the Fire TV I don't know, but the official Microsoft branded one is plug and play.
Anyone else tried any more emulators? What about MAME?
Both MAME and the retroarch version work fairly well.
I played the arcade exclusive Golden Axe sequel called Revenge Of Death Adder.
Like MAME emulators always are,you have to make sure that every specific condition is correct.
Correct name, proper directory, and only when available in the given romset list.

Has anyone been able to get the Gamesome frontend Working? I would love to use that as my front end for all my emus but it glitches out and freezes on opening.
Scratch that. Installing the Google Play Services fixed it for me.
epsxe's developer sent me a beta to test on the Fire TV and the triggers for the xbox 360 gamepad are confirmed working. Even though everything is detected you'll have to manually go into the gamepad settings to map the triggers which show up as gas and brake. Also make sure they're set up in the axis controls as well.
I dunno how they compare on standard phones and all that but the interface of the epsxe tends to flow a bit better with the Fire TV and gamepad detection.
SuperGNES is the best SNES emulator. reason:- it allows dropbox synchronization. i uploaded ALL my roms to my dropbox and was able to play all the roms from there easily.
I REALLY wish that other emulators would take a cue from this - if i could find a N64 or a PSP emulator that sync's with my GDrive or Dropbox or even my Skydrive i would be REALLY happy
Anyone try SCUMMVM? I've never tried it on Android, but I'd assume it would be optimized for touch devices. Would be quite awesome to get some old school adventure games on the Fire TV.
Retroarch can be gotten directly from the Play Store when on Fire TV.
This is the first time you see me praising Retroarch since I hate the god-awful controls/lack of proper input mapping such as rewind and fastforward mappings as well as not having console specific mappings to make things easier,but,SNES9x Next with the retropad overlay for quick fastforward plus the Retroarch exclusive ->rewind<- access and the shader on 1pass 4xBR using 4x resolution makes the perfect combination!
Is there any way to use cheats on Retroarch?
If not, then please add it,developers of Retroarch.
At least on the lower systems like NES,SNES,Genesis.
I still really wish there was another N64 Core to choose from like 1964 or Daedalus.

I went between versions that crash immediately before the menu, and the emucr builds that open, but never start the game.
Instead, you get a grey screen until exiting the app.
I did manage to get one ancient version to almost start while the touch controls even appeared.
It may have actually started running the game, but with the black screen issue known to be caused by Qualcomm.
I just cannot find the OpenGL 2.0 ARM build of Dolphin to test on a Linux Distro inside VNC.
I really wished they ported the version with OpenGL 2.0 to Android instead.

[ROOT] Working Multiplayer fix in all emulators using Tincore KeyMapper.

Note: This also works for mapping Touch Screen Apps to controllers, even mapping a mouse to your joystick if you wish to play flash based games or to make your own mappings. You can remap buttons to ANY DEVICE, so be CAREFUL!
I've been looking into a fix to allow the usage of multiple dual shock 4 controllers for multiplayer gaming and came up with nothing that worked on the Amazon Fire TV until now.
Since we aren't able to change the IME setup, there's an app that lets you keymap any device connected either with USB or Bluetooth. Its called Tincore KeyMapper and while it may come off a bit complicated at first and it has its visual bugs running on the amazon box, it works perfectly.
first install the app and run it. You must be rooted for it to work!
I also recommend you have a mouse to navigate easier and have all the controllers you wish to configure connected and/or plugged in from the start. Any new controllers added afterwards will swap "ports" with the other controllers and will occasionally switch players once a device rescan is done.
once its started create a new profile call it whatever you like ie. openBOR settings
click the magnifying glass(search) make sure to have System Internal and USB/BT *ROOT* selected then hit accept.
You should see all your devices that are connected to the box.
look for your controller you have connected and change the dpad, left stick and buttons to "click keys". You wont be able to make changes until you restart, so exit the app by clicking the 3 dot menu and scrolling all the way down to the bottom and clicking the the last item that isn't visible.
Re run the app and now you can set the keys for the found devices. Enjoy!
There's other cool features if you buy this app, and I plan on buying just because the app works even without IME setups. And the more support we give him, maybe he will make a native port for us in the future.
Or you can just use any of Robert's .EMU emulators that detects multiple gamepads and use them at the same time with no conflicts.
FPse for PSX does this as well.
Snes9x EX also made by Robert allows this as well.

True, Reicast does as well.
But FPse doesnt work on the Fire TV, Nearly all Mame emus do not have working multiplayer including TigerMame, Reloaded, Mame4android, Jrioni, ReroArch, OpenBor, Paintown, All flash games and a number of others don't have that ability.

FPse works perfectly on FireTV, dunno what you're doing wrong but a friend and I were playing Twisted Metal 2 for hours the other night. I spent a couple hours playing Crash Bandicoot and Need for Speed: High Stakes just the other day. Everything I've tested on the emulator all have worked flawlessly.
Developer is working on getting the triggers to work correctly with the X360 gamepads as there is currently a bug in it.

Fpse has a bug that the triggers in the Xbox controller don't want to work. He said he'd work on that a month ago and won't respond to emails. Epsxe developer sent me a beta and is working with me on getting triggers working
