Tips and Trick - whatsapp notifications hot smartwatch
Hot smatwatch doesn't have a native support till now for whatsapp, so ho to receive a notification?
It's not the best way, i know, but while waiting for someone that maybe develope an app TASKER can help us..
First of all i need to say that i'm a newbie in tasker use so maybe someone can do it better but i think that this is a simple way that everyone can do.
Requisite:
-TASKER https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
-EMAIL ME PRO https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.caramellabs.emailmepro
-root device
Once dowload all open email me pro and complete the setting (smtp is very very very important)
now open tasker
Create a new profile
Select EVENT
on filter search for NOTIFICATION and select it
On owner application click on the icon and select whatsapp
Now maybe it ask to give tasker the accessibility so in the accessibility menu (of device setting) select tasker jb and put it ON
ok now profile is complete
Give a new task a name go on
Now select PLUGIN
now select EMAIL ME PRO and set is like you want is very easy
FINISH!
just a little video tutorial for tasker
Now everytime you'll receive a whatsapp message tasker send you an email... in this case on the Hot smartwatch mail app
Hope this help
Bye

Sure! I hope as soon as possible, now I waiting for CES 2014 to have more news, more video, more picture and maybe the SDK...
The power of a good product I think is the comunity and the 3rd party apps! look at pebble than sony...in google+, the community of sony sw have 4/5 post at week, pebble have 4/5 every hour!!!
Bye! and have a good day
Daniele

Friends from CES, any news about SDK release? we have to start develop app and watchfaces!!!
thanks, Bye!!
Daniele

some news from Google+ user in this community https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/117941715311215801130
post say:
"In the next few days we will release the windows simulator, you will be able to navigate the UI of the HOT watch and learn how it will work on your wrist. Hope this will keep you busy until you receive your HOT Watch."
Also looks like the ship date has been bumped down again to February.

Simulator is here
From Kickstarted comments page report:
The simulator can be found here: http://www.hotsmartwatch.com/download/ with the password Simulator4HOT.

Oh man... I really hope this gets some Tasker support like AutoPebble. That is the one thing worrying me about this watch.

I hope to, Tasker is a must-have!

Good stuff, I've got my eye in this watch. Anyone received their HOT watch yet?

they just started production of pcb's last week, that's the only info PHTL has given so far
they will send out a shipping schedule 'soon', whenever that will be...

Correct SDK links
It appears the links were mishandled somewhere and all the files on the SDK page are corrupt. I made a post with working links here http://hotsmartwatch.forumflash.com/index.php?/topic/28-correct-sdk-download-info-inside/
The SDK offers a LOT of control. Good luck!

My First Android App - Released to the market - Named "PicAround" :)

Hi Guys,
I have just released a new app for the Android users.
I am an excited entrepreneur/developer, worked and developed the App all by myself
The app is free and I would like the world to enjoy it
I am posting here for 2 reason.
The Obvious one: to reach out! :fingers-crossed:
But the more important one:
I would love your feedback and notes and maybe some tips for how to get it out there with no budget
All of my friends are already running "alpha" for me on their personal devices.... but it`s only the tip of the iceberg from a technical point of view.
So this is where you guys come to the rescue :highfive:
So.... some details:
My App is Named: “PicAround”.
Basically PicAround is a "Mobile Camera App That Instantly Shares Everyone’s Event Pictures"
The App tries to reduce the hassle of getting your pictures from other people that were present at the event as you did. no need for emails Facebook, Dropbox, etc,
and it is easy to use:
Step 1. Select the event your are at from a list of local events (GPS Based)
Step 2. Capture the moment with the PicAround camera!
Everybody’s pictures taken at the event will be saved to a shared album instantly!
I believe it will match perfectly for large scale events, such as weddings, concerts, football games and so on..
You can find it on the app store:
Just search "PicAround"
I will also post a blog post soon enough about the process of developing the app - the server side.... tools and so on....
Hope you give it a try and like it
Hi there,
Nice idea! Congrats for the work.
My remarks:
1) Why do you force your users to use Facebook?
1.1) App opened and the first thing that poped up was Facebook login screen. I closed it and then.... that's it. I couldn't do anything else with the app. Just saw the logo. Had to leave the app and come back again to,, again, see the Facebook screen.
1.2) I was shown the Facebook login screen, asking to entenr my e-mail and password. I do have Facebook installed in my phone, so I would expect just to press OK and seamlessly log into Facebook, without having to enter my credentials... are you using API 3.0?
Give me a shout if you need some help with point 1.2, I have implemented it.
I left you rating/review to support ya
Cheers and good luck!
Ps: Dont forget to update this post with links do Google Play and Screenshots when you have 10+ messages in this Forum
Hi , thanks for the remarks

Hi, thanks for the relay and remarks:
I would like to respond to some of your remarks and maybe you will have some tip for me.
The events are public, meaning: all people at the area of the event can take pictures (currently there are no restriction).
So the least I am doing is to display a layout over the image with the name of the person who took it.
If I would create my own unique login mechanism (leaving the technical Burden aside) - users will be able to pick an unreal name - which I think is unfair to the users with real names
I could add login with google or some other login sdks available - do you think it will make it better? would you like to login with a different network instead?
In addition - In the future - I could use the social goodies Facbook offers (with the user approval of course) Which I would not be able to do without.
Currently (and in the future) I am not doing anything "bad" with the user info - only using it to display his name over his pictures at the event album.
As for SDK 3.0 - I was trying to use it - but is seems to fail - probably because the new SDK does not support android 2.1(update) versions (SDK < 8 not support) - it is not official (or at least I could not find a reference for it) - so I submitted a defect to Facebook about that.
(cannot post the url for the defect yet - 8 more to go - but I can email it if needed.)
I do not want to leave 2.1 behind as long as I have the option (my phone is 2.1 nexus one!! )
Would love any tips about this issue. (I have tried hard to use the native sdk).
about the timing of when to popup the facebook login screen...
If I would not do that immediately - then there is a chance that exactly at the moment the user is trying to take a picture - I would have to popup the login screen - sound bad to me.
(On the other hand - I am pretty sure - nobody will have his first try of the app - during an event - he would probably try it at home first).
What do you think about this? should I postpone the login screen to a later time? or maybe I could show an explanation to the user before the login, for the reasons I want her/him to login with facebook?
Again thanks for the replay and the Google Play review
Nice!

Stand Alone VS Phone Companion

Hi Everyone
I would like to hear what smartwatch Mode do you think is the best : Stand Alone or Phone Companion and answer some questions:
1.Standalone Mode what will be in this mode the most important and what you will use the most?
2.Phone Companion Mode : What you will use the most in this mode and what you will want to have ?
3.Phone Companion Mode : When you will receive a phone call do you think you will like to answer from your smartphone or your smartwatch ?
4.What Mode you will think use the most ?
5.Someone that use yet a smartwatch how is your experience what is not practical, what did you not like?
Specify the model and if its was a Standalone or a Phone Companion.
Thanks
Best Regards

Hi Damien, you probably know my reply already since we discussed it off-line
For me Companion mode is the most important. I would like to receive notifications of who is calling (so I can keep my phone on mute most and out of sight), notifications of txt message and being able to view it on the smartwatch (typically an easy implementation since its a short plain unformatted text), notification of calendar events so I don't miss a meeting or an upcoming appointment, and email notifications with a preview of the message.
In my personal opinion, answering call from a phone is optional but not necessary. Phone call is a private thing. I just would like to see who is calling and then make a decision if I want to dismiss the call (maybe with a simple rejection button or an option to send a few pre-defined txt messages like "i'm busy" or "will call you back soon"). If I need to pick up the call, I can always get my phone out of the pocket or pick up the call on bluetooth headset. With text message and calendar events, as I mentioned above, it is nice to preview on the screen of the smartwatch where I think 1.54"+ display is big enough to preview simple short text. With emails, it would be nice to see who is it from and body of the text. I wouldn't expect replying back from the watch; if its important and needs my immediate attention - I will take out my phone and type away the reply.
Of course, music control (of the songs on the phone and also songs stored on internal to smartwatch microSD card) would be important. Also, getting weather notifications from the phone is a big plus, as well as battery status of your smartphone.

Hi vectron
Thanks to taking your time to answer to all my questions, interesting suggestions like to see the battery status of your smartphone on your smartwatch seems to me a great Idea....
Just one question A.I Watch have a music player and you can play music directly from your A.I Watch, so why can be interesting to control your smartphone music from A.I Watch?

If you pair up your smartwatch with a phone (wireless through bluetooth), your smartwatch becomes a controller just like any wireless headphone with playback control. That's how it works with a Pebble, Metawatch, and any other basic smartwatch. It becomes very useful when you are streaming music from your phone to external wireless speaker and can control playback right from your smartwatch.

Yes but If I am correct on all those smartwatches that you mention you dont have the possibility to add music directly on the smartwatch and due of that not able to connect them to a Bluetooth speaker directly you always need to past from your smartphone....
You dont think its useless on a stand alone smartwatch ??

Yes, you are correct. Those other smartwatches don't have internal storage, so it makes sense to use them as wireless controller for audio playback on your smartphone. With AI Watch, TrueSmart and others you have an option of internal storage. As a matter of fact, I often use my TS as mp3-player on a wrist with my wireless headphones paired up directly. So in a way, its redundant to either play music from your watch or use your watch to control your music on the phone, since you can pair up external speaker directly to your watch. I do see your point now.
I believe there is a need for both a Standalone and a Companion. A standalone is great for those of us who have to carry two phones all the time. I know many people at work who have to carry their work phone and a personal phone, and at work the only thing the personal gets used for is checking email and taking calls from the wife. To be able to use the watch for that while still carrying the work phone for use all day would be great. And to be clear, the watch would ONLY be used for the personal as a standalone, and not also a companion for the work phone at the same time.
As a companion, which is how I use my Smartq Zwatch now is fairly useful, but would be infinitely more useful if: 1. Low power Bluetooth internet tethering; and 2. I need the option to let the watch make changes to the phone. I bought this watch so that I could see when I received text and email messages without pulling my phone out of my pocket but now I find that every time I receive a message I have to delete it from my phone AND my watch which actually make MORE steps in the process in stead of making the process easier. If I could have the option to "Delete Message From Phone?" Each time I deleted the message on the watch then it would make the process faster.
Just my two cents.

While running today I had a thought. I use my smartwatch with my Galaxy Note 3. The phone is really big but I love the s pen, the media capabilities, and the battery life. But there are times when I'd rather not carry such a big phone so I keep an old galaxy Nexus lying around. What would be really cool would be to have all the cellular capabilities built into my watch with the ability to bluetooth tether lte data through the watch and into the phone. The the phone mfg's could make sick devices without having to include radios. Instead of having to pay $700 for this phone I could have bought a Note 8 for like $300. I know the watch would be more expensive, but some are already paying $300+ for a watch AND $600 for a phone.
Then when I go running for instance, the watch could connect via bluetooth to my headset and I wouldn't have to carry around my phone at all since this screen does nothing for me while running.

So, is there a watch (ZGPAX, SmartQ, HOT) which does all of this today ? I don't see why this would be so hard today. Doesn't Android allow applications to communicate with notification manager. Isn't it just a matter of pushing all your notifications from phone to watch ? This is for messaging and phone calls. For email and other apps, update happens automatically on all devices which shouldnt need anything special to work on a watch

Hi ofsinreno
Thanks for all your suggestions, A.I Watch definitely do that we working on a Phone companion app by Bluetooth, and not Bluetooth tethering to be more battery efficient for both side, for now we succeed to get notifications etc...We still testing everything with different Android versions.
Hi cyrux004
Yes you are right all the smartwatches that you mention have this possibility but for the ZGPAX and SmartQ its by Bluetooth tethering and its not at all battery efficient. for the Hot is not a stand alone smartwatch so only the Phone companion option.
A Bluetooth app of this kind is new for everyone so actually not a lot of developers know how to develop it.

I always carry two numbers. My company number rings the most and having that sim in my smart watch instead of having two phones would be easier for me. Options like camera, media, anti theft, sdcard and internal storage are something I need for everyday use. Wifi is a must and if possible since the watch can use simcard I can use gps and edge to connect if no wifi is available. I know for some of this may seem too much but I prefer my smart watch to be a back up for my phone just in case and also have the option of controlling my phone remotely.

[Q] Is there a way to access Google Tasks on a Google Wear device?

Hi,
I share a Gmail account which has some task lists within it - and I'd like to be able to look up outstanding tasks on my smartwatch (LG G Watch R). Ideally I'd also like to do the same thing with some task lists in an Microsoft Exchange account - but this is less pressing.
I know there is a multitude of tasklist / to-do apps out there - but I'd like to use the existing task lists I have.
I know that CalenGoo can sync with Google Tasks - however I couldn't find a way of browsing these task lists on the smartwatch (at least not within the 15 minute refund period!).
I have also seen TinyTasks (both on XDA and in the Play store), which sounds ideal - but doesn't look like it works with Google Wear devices (unless I'm mistaken).
What I'd like is an app on the smartwatch that I can open that will show me all my task lists (from this shared Google Account, or an Exchange account), let me browse through the (incomplete) tasks in each list, and then mark them as done.
I've tried searching, but the keywords "google", "wear" and "tasks" are wayyyy to generic to pin-point what I'd like - if it exists.
Does anyone know of an app that will do this?
Same here - looking for same app/funcionality.
Same for me
Full Todo List App on Wear but not for GOOGLE TASKS !!! Google not compatible with Google system ? I found this incredible
I have Google Task on my pebble : PebbleNotes, on my Sony SW2 : Tiny Task, but nothing for the Google Wear OS...
I came here looking for just this. Does anyone know of any app that will support Google tasks? I dont want to use anything else and its the one functionality I bought my smartwatch for!!
No, of course Google OS is NOT COMPATIBLE with Google Apps
Use TickTick if you want and leave Google Task....
help
I am using Keep to record my notes from Sony Smartwatch 3, but I really prefer using Google Tasks. I hope someone finds a way to use it and posts it here. Thanks.
I tried ticktick but I dont like it as much... I really just like Google tasks and I use gTasks. Anyway, I emailed the dev of gtasks - he said it's on the list but don't expect it any time soon. Maybe if more people expressed their desire he might do it sooner? Email: Support (a)t gtasks (dot) me
Is there a lot of work in making this happen? If anyone else finds a workaround please let me know - I really want this for my watch!
Now I'm using Samsung Gear. I will wait 3 or 4 years before Wear became an usable OS
GTask works on Watch : Android, Samsung Tizen, Sony SW, pebble. Just the Google Wear OS where Google Task do not works
I got it working
Ok I figure out a workaround, but it works great
Basically you need to use Zapier and Evernote. Evernote has a working Android wear app, and Zapier can copy any notes to Google tasks.. Start a new Zap from Evernote to add task to Google tasks. When adding the zap you have to play around - you put "Content Text" in the "Title" box - but it works perfectly!
The limit on the free accounts is 100 zaps per month - and it refreshes every 15 mins - but thats enough for me for now!
Hope that might help some people with the same problem...

Withings Steel HR - Dev Section

A few days ago I purchased my Withings (by Nokia) Steel HR, which is one of these new cool-looking smartwatches, with continuous heart monitor and 25 days battery life.
However, it comes in a quite closed environment (virtually no settings anywhere) and only works with the Withings app, which is quite poorly integrated.
I'm easily thinking of a ton of features to be added directly or indirectly, which brings me to the wish to use it with other apps and to mod its software. (A first thing would be to be able to change the frequency at which heart readings are taken, and to be able to export raw data to my phone which are not available at the moment)
Any aspiring (or experienced) dev out there with this smartwatch?
By the way, mods aside I honestly think that this watch is full of potential and its software will receive many updates in the future, so be sure to check it out if you're looking to buy a smartwatch in the near future (This is not an ad, but it would be great to build up an xda community around this! )
I'm getting this watch as well. Let's hope it will have development potential
Hi,
I have this watch as well. I have been trying to sniff the BLE protocol, to send my hr to apps like Runtastic, without success.
A quick note worth mentioning: this watch shows you three types of notifications (plus alarms): sms, calendar, and phone calls. While you can't "fake" sms and phone calls, you can create as many calendar events as you want.
In other words, do you want to see weather updates on your watch? put together something like a Tasker task or an IFTTT recipe that automatically creates a google calendar event with the information you want displayed as the title, and you're done. Combine it with Tasker to ignore/remove the notification on your smartphone and voila', any-notifications on our withings steel hr
cheers

Wear watch face that displays MORE than 4 external complications? Have you seen any?

Hi guys,
I looking for Android Wear 2.0 Watch Face(s) that's able to display MORE than 4 external complications. That's very rare at Google Play, I've been searching for them for a week now but only found 2, and none of them are perfect.
The reason I'm looking for them:
In my opinion external complication feature of Android Wear 2.0 is the most useful one. With that (in case you didn't know) you can display info/data from third party/external apps on your watch face.
My current watch face even at a glance (in dimmed/ambient mode also) shows me the current weather, today's weather forecast, tomorrows weather forecast, upcoming event in my agenda, unread watch notifications, unread emails in gmail inbox, battery%, time and date!
That's 9 complications on my watch face and 7 of them are external (third party).
As you see it's quite useful to see so much useful data on your watch at a glance, but infortunately 99% of all watch faces on Google Play are unable to display so many complications.
I only found 2:
1 - Bubbles by Dyna Logix (it has unlimited complications function, but the appearance of the app isn't the nicest one, and it's still quite buggy concerning auto-refreshing complication data)
2 - Tiled watch face by Andreas Neustifter (it can display many external complications but only able to display text and numbers of the complication data. No icons at all! So, for weather condition icon display this watch face is useless.
I'm lookig for a watch face that is able to display many external complications, looks better (more elegant, more professional looking and stable) than the Bubbles watch face and that is able to display weather icons too (because Tiled watch fave us unable to do that).
Please let me know if you found any!
Thanks

Hi guys,
I looking for Android Wear 2.0 Watch Face(s) that's able to display MORE than 4 external complications.

Could you be a bit more informative please?
How did you do it? Pushed the apk with adb? Where did you find those watch faces? Where can I download/buy them from?

I don't have file on my phone. Once I get home I can post the apk. Yes you push with adb. No root or any modifications required.

Thank you very much in advance. Looking forward to it! :good:
I renamed the file "watch.apk" and sideloaded it through adb. Adb install
You'll have enable developers options/ adb debugging.

Thanks a lot, these are beautiful too!
Yep no worries again. It's stupid that they made all the nice faces exclusive features
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seapip.thomas.pear_watchface
Up to 5 complications, on square watches up to 8 complications.
It's a collection of 7 different watch faces in a single apk.

Thanks but if I understand it correctly these complications are internal ones included in Pear Watch Face, right?
These are not 8 slots for external complications. If this is the situation, then I won't be able to use this.

It works with external complications. I have Fit and Instaweather configured complications perfectly. You can only add four complications since the 5th is the time and is not changeable.
update after sufficient caffeine
You can add 5 complications and the 6th is the time. This only seems to work on the Pear Modular to add 5, others will take 1, 2 or 3 added.

Nope it's all external complications with a few exceptions.
I have updated Tiled Watchface to support all complication types, check it out at Google Play!
