[Q] Looking for auto Bluetooth app - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to find an app that will recognize when I am in proximity to a Bluetooth host and will automatically enable Bluetooth on my phone. I've seen several apps in the play store but I don't know if any if them will do what I want. I'd like my phone to turn on Bluetooth when I get in the car and turn it off when I get out of the car. (It would be nice if it would play Pandora too but I am not completely lazy!)

You should look into NFC tags. You could, for example, have one in a car mount for your phone, with an NFC app set to turn on Bluetooth and Pandora when the phone detects that tag.

I took your advice a bought a few tags and installed an app. It works great, better than I expected. Thanks for the suggestion!

Q: Default bluetooth profiles

Previously i had an S3 that would automatically connect call audio and media to my 11 wrx. This worked perfectly as i listen to pandora on my way to and from work.
My new s4 only automatically connects the call audio and not media. I have to manually connect the media everytjme the car turns on.
Is there any way to change these defaults?

I'm having similar issues. I cannot change the default profiles and the phone doesn't autoconnect at all. If I turn off the bluetooth and turn it on, the media will connect.
On my Galaxy Nexus I had no issues, both profile boxes were checked and the phone would connect to hpne and media as soon as I turned the car on.
This is frustrating because one of the primary uses for my phone is music in the car and I really love the way the bluetooth works with calls in the car.

I have the opposite - connects to Media but not to phone
I also have a 2011 Subaru WRX and have difficulty with my SGS4 auto connecting. As stated by the original post, upon turning on my car, my phone connects the "phone" portion and not the "media." Any help would be appreciated as this is quite annoying. I was previously with an HTC DNA...which auto connected with ease in both aspects, yet didn't display song data. Now, my situation is reversed in a sense...haha....

Maybe the issue is actually with the car. I have a 2013 Subaru Legacy
I'm sure your setup is the same as mine but thought I'd share. I never touched the settings when I first paired the phone to my '12 civic.

After manually connecting by hitting both those checkboxes repeatedly, it will eventually look like that.

Disable autoplay on bluetooth connection

Is there anyway to disable the autoplaying of music on my phone when it connects to the car bluetooth sound system? I like streaming music.... just not every time I get into the damn car!
loving the S4 otherwise!

Hmmm maybe its not the phone and its the Handsfree in the honda civic commanding it to play?
Hmm I'm actually interested in this as well. My old One X used to auto connect and auto play when I got in the car, but the S4 doesn't. It only auto connects to the phone, not A2DP like I want it to...

Mine does do this though. It's annoying as $? #$. I have to go into settings and and manually connect media audio 99% of the time. It never does start playing automatically though.
Mine initially would do the autoplay but after I reset all the Bluetooth pairings for my car stereo the S4 then only paired phone audio and I also have to go in to manually pair media audio. Looks like I got the best of both worlds! My Galaxy Nexus and Tab 7.7 didn't do this, and neither did my iPhone. Annoying.
I actually had the same problems with my S2. I removed the android music player and used winamp to get around the autoplay annoyance. but on the S4 i actually like the stock player....I didn't want to remove it. It sounds like it seems to be dependant on the bluetooth device that its paired to. I was hoping for a missed setting... grrrr

My phone is rooted, how would I disable this autoplay feature in android? There's got to be a file somewhere I can edit to fix this..
Its very annoying to always have poweramp auto play when I connect to bluetooth. (And Poweramp is set to NOT respond to bluetooth)
Has anyone figured out the root cause of this autoplay silliness?
hey guys, I had this issue as well, even tho on the phone side I "forgot" my car, my car still requested my phone every time I turned it on. but actually, nearly every stereo has some Bluetooth settings. my car didn't have an option to forget my phone, but it did have an option to switch "auto connect" off. look thru your stereos menu, you're likely to find what you're looking for.

[Q] Hands free bluetooth issues (Merc B Class)

Hi all
Sorry if there is another thread with this already but I am at the end of my tether!
I have a Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 and am having problems when paired to my Merc B200 with Audio 20.
I believe this may be a common problem but I just need confirmation from someone in the know.
ISSUE:
I can pair with the head unit no problems, but when I make and receive calls, there is no audio. Apparently the other end can hear me, but I am unable to hear them.
Audio is on max, both on the phone and the audio 20.
Any ideas? Is this a software issue?
I did contact Samsung, who obviously told me that this was down to the car manufacturer and MB told me to buy an older phone (great advice!).
My wifes Iphone 5 works flawlessly, as did my Iphone 4s.
MB seem to be under the impression that a car firmware update will no resolve the problem and basically I am scuppered. Surely bluetooth should be backwards compatible!!!
Cheers
Andy
I got a blackberry to work with a mb car kit a while ago, not sure of the symptoms the user was seeing but he was pairing from the phone to the kit. I tried pairing the phone from the car kit and it then started to work flawlessly.

might be a similar issue
Not sure if it's the same thing but I'm at a loss as to what to do. I bought the Jaybird SB2 bluetooth headset. I've read elsewhere others have had issues connecting to Mac's (I have the same connection problem with my Macs) but they worked fine with my old Galaxy S2 (when it had pre-jelly bean rom). As soon as I upgraded the sounds cuts out after a couple of minutes although the player says the music is playing. I can get it to work again for another couple of minutes by disconnecting then reconnecting the bluetooth. I then flashed a custom JB rom (supernexus I think) on the old S2 and everything worked perfectly. I've just got my stock S4 and the same problem with the bluetooth keeps happening.
I can only think it's a software problem since the headphones work perfectly with my Nexus 7 and my old S2 with this custom rom but I can't find anything online elsewhere recording the problem. Not really sure where to turn for help since I doubt Samsung will care.
Unsure if 100% related, but I've had some issues with BT on my Subaru Outback ('13).
When I am (simultaneously):
1) Charging
2) Connected to my car stereo via Bluetooth
3) Playing music (using default GS4 music widget)
4) Navigating w/ Google Navigation
The Google Navigation voice cuts out half way through giving the direction.
"In 250 feet, turn right onto" ... ... ... ... nothing
It's really horrible, especially because this is the PRIMARY use for my phone (car audio & nav).
Update:
Winamp doesn't interrupt nav, but I lose BT controls on steering wheel.
AVia doesn't either and keeps BT control functionality.
All music players I've tried, however, just seem to crash at random...
They either stop altogether or think the music is still playing but no audio is on.
All of this is resolved by using Aux instead of BT.
This is what leads me to believe it is BT related.
Anyone with experience or help here, that'd be awesome...
I've had a breakthrough with mine
I installed an app called 'Soundabout' from the playstore that reroutes any audio to a BT device, this did the trick, I now have audio both when making and receiving calls.
It also works for a2dp streaming issues.
The odd thing is though, I deleted the app afterwards just on the off chance that it fixed anything in the background.... And it did! My BT audio is now working seamlessly without the app!
I am currently running a flashed stock rom (XXUAME2).
Hope this helps others

Hi,
I have the same issue.
I have just got my new Galaxy S4, everything is working fine except the Bluetooth. I am having trouble to use the Bluetooth on my 2011 Toyota Car corolla. I am able to connect to the Bluetooth, and play music but problem with starting to make a call. when I say "starting to make a call" means I can make a call, but the receiver can't hear me and I can't hear them neither. I was able to answer the call or hang up, everything is working fine except no voice come out from the speakers.
The funny is it will work if I use Apps to make a call, such as Skype, viber.
I can't find any solution so far.

4ndynic you're a legend! My wife got an S4 and it didn't want to work properly with our Mercedes with the native bluetooth. I installed Soundabout (non Pro version), went into Bluetooth Behavior, turned on (Dynamic) Media Audio Usage, and now it works perfectly!! I especially love the fact that the alerts for SMS etc still come through the phone.

It appears that the setting may revert if you turn bluetooth off and back on again. After doing that, I had to go back into soundabout and untick then retick that box. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour? It certainly appears to be a default setting in the operating system causing the issue, which means it may be possible to fix with a patch, and Samsung should certainly be able to fix it in a future update.

it might be your rom version, tried it here with 4.2 and 4.3 and works without any issues and no need to install additional software.

Bluetooth Connects - Disconnects Repeatedly - Car Bluetooth Audio

I have been using LG G2 for more than 4 months.
I always connect my phone to my car's bluetooth.
However, I have been having problems with Bluetooth for all versions of LG G2
I have used Stock 4.2.2 and 4.4.2
I have tried several different roms. Rayglobe, Flex, CloudyFa etc.
My problem is when I connect my phone to my car's audio.
It connects/disconnects repeatedly with a click sound, which makes you think that speakers will explode.
It stops after a long time but it is really annoying.
My only success what I had used 4.4.2 AOSP and it works without problem. But I am a big fan of Stock.
I have read a lot of threads regarding this issue and I am happy that I am not alone or hallucinating.
In all these thread people say that I have to disable bluetooth power save and everything will be okay but it is not, as people reported.
Looking forward to having a solution with this thread.

Verizon Wear24 Bluetooth issue on android wear2.0 :Microphone is not working on watch

Recently got this watch and Bluetooth was working fine in 1.5 version. the microphone on watch stopped working after android wear 2.0 update.
Looks like the software glitch. This watch discontinued by the Verizon. Is there a way to fix the issue through ADB or some other mean?

yes the microphone still works for OK Google type stuff but it doesn't work as a bluetooth headset profile. You can hear them but they cannot hear you. Checked the log cat and it seems that there is a bluetooth stack issue.

Hello, just bought a wear24 and after AW2.0 upgrade microphone Works For Voice To Text When Messaging But Not For Phone Calls Over Blueooth. Is There A setting For This Or Is It Aw2.0 Bug Or Wear24 Issue?
Also when I swipe down from the watch face to view the quick menu (eg. settings, airplane mode selection, etc.) at the bottom there are icons next to the battery level icon that indicate bluetooth is not connected (cloud with line through it) when indeed BT is connected. The watch face does indicat correctly when BT disconnects and connects. Is this typical with the Wear24? Another bug?
sounds like its a profile issue, based on other comments. No idea how to help, however.
I have the same problem. Microphone works with OK google or when I dictate a message but it doesn't work when I make a call. The other person can't hear me. Any help would be appreciated. I didn't try it before the android 2.0 update. Just bought the watch 1 week ago
Interesting... I've made a call to my house phone through the watch and my wife could hear me fine. I was talking into it like I was James Bond though, maybe that made a difference? Also she said it sounded just like as if I was on my phone and no I didn't activate the SIM.

Was your phone near by? My watch comes tomorrow, so I can't test this myself yet. But it seems the issue is that the watch is being recognized as Bluetooth headphones and not a Bluetooth headset.
Also are you on AW 1.5? Apparently 2.0 broke it. Not sure if it's been fixed as of 2.8.

My phone was on my couch and I was in the kitchen so it was about 18ft away.
AW version is 2.8. however my phone doesn't show the watch as a headset within the Bluetooth menu. In fact it doesn't show it being connected.
Did figure something else out though and I can't receive incoming calls. It doesn't notify me at all for calls. Other than that everything seems to work as should... I'm going to keep fiddling

Yes it is. But I do have an update...
This morning I did a factory reset. I let everything update first after setup. This time I disabled the SIM first before doing anything else. Now I have all the functionality but I too now have an issue with the microphone, but only in the case of using the watch as a phone. But I now can control incoming calls. So the only functionality I lost was using the watch as a phone. Honestly I have no use case for that but I do have a use case for ignoring phone calls which I now have...
As for what the difference is... Only thing I can think of is enabling the SIM which apparently gives you access to another app, probaby Verizon specific, which handles phone calls, walking through that configuration but not activating the SIM, you know the 5/month thing I was able to make calls through the watch using the microphone but beware the notifications were wonky also you lose your ability to intercept incoming calls.
Sorry if that was kind of confusing. I'm on my.ohone at work and trying to provide as much detail as quick as possible.

No problem. Honestly if I can figure out the name of that app within the system apps I might be able to give it permission just for the microphone and then maybe just maybe we could use the watch like James Bond. Not sure though I may try when I get home.
