Bad pixel - Xperia Z1 General

I've heard that there was a count above which you could replace your phone if it got a bad pixel, is this true? Can I just get it repaired under warranty if I got one?

The one before has one green stuck pixel, had got the replacement.

I had only 1 dead/stuck pixel and they gave me a replacement. No questions asked

Very difficult to make out one bad pixel out of 2 million+, with the naked eye
If you see something that looks like a bad pixel its more like 10 or more bad pixels in a cluster which means automatic replacement.
QA will pass two bad pixels on the Z1 and this is actually common practice among other vendors in the industry.

Well my tablet z has one stuck pixel but they wouldn't exchange it or fix it
I was literally thrown out of the store

Damn... Try to email them and see what happens. Unless you have your inquiry on paper you can't do nothing in court so that's why they might have been this rude. Reply to this thread with any news please. I'd also like to know whether you have seen this message so I'd be sure not to miss anything you say about this stuff.

Making a big issue out of single stuck pixel won't really help me, and at least its just one spot

No matter it's "only" one - it's probably more than one but that's not important now, you have your rights and I really can't believe what happened to you.
If I were you, I would contact Sony/Samsung or company you need and tell them that.
Believe me, that shouldn't be a case, that's extremely rude and people get fired for that kind of behavior...

I have to bad pixels but my warranty says that there should be at least 3 to get a repair. I hadn't talk to support yet but do you think they will replace it?

No. To replace you just have 3 dead pixels. In Poland they will do everything to not replace it for you.

Can u take here photo of that dead pixel?

Since it's tiny and I do not have a great camera except the one in the Z1 that is a no.

You won't even notice regio lock since your smartphone is already activated.....
Not sure why to hate Samsung.
please get the facts right before bashing them :

I don't the idea of any type of "lock", but this is not a bad thing imo :
Samsung quickly clarified that this Region lock has been implemented to stem the grey market imports and that it goes away if the first SIM card you use is from the region you bought the device from. After that you can pop in a SIM card from a different region and it should work as expected.

If i remember clearly, chainfire has already cracked this region lock thing on note 3.The region lock just blacklists the cellular networks from other region/country and the app/crack remove them from the blacklist.

Really looks like samsung is following the ways of apple, i feel that for the general android user base KNOX is a good feature and will keep their phone safe, hell, i know people who have a note 3 and have no idea what KNOX is :/ I guess Samsung is just making it harder for our community.

If your worried about warranty then don't mess with your phone, it's as simple as that.
And on the same footing, if you brick your device then you didn't follow the instructions from the ROM dev correctly or you need to do a bit more research into what your actually messing with. :good:

Have to exchange my Z1s: problem registering long presses

Unfortunately my Z1s is going back: I'm having issues with the screen properly registering a long press when trying to move icons/widgets, or long press on an empty area to select a widget or app to drop there. It started out happening on rare occasion and I ignored it, but it got worse and worse and worse until now it's almost always a struggle whenever I want to do any of those things. And, when that's happening I also noticed the keyboard is unusable for swipe style because it keeps splitting up longer words into lots of shorter ones. In both cases it seems as if the screen is thinking I've lifted my finger when I haven't.
So, back it goes. T-Mobile is sending me a new one to arrive tomorrow or Monday and this one is heading back. Fingers crossed, because I'm loving everything else about the phone!

I have the same issue. I thought it was the way I was holding the phone because I couldn't reproduce it with the phone laying flat on a table.
I am probably going to return mine as well.

Wow, interesting observation! I just tried it out and so far mine is behaving the same: lay it down and long press works, pick it up and it stops working.
After additional experimentation if I lay the phone in the palm of my hand with fingers not touching the sides it continues to work fine, but when having my fingers touch the side of the phone (while making sure to not curl over onto the top) long press eventually stops working.
looks like Z1 inherited touchscreen issues.. not good Sony, not good at all...

Uh oh, if you're the third person with this problem out of a small group of initial orders I'm guessing this is just the way the device is going to be and my next one will behave the same.
If that's the case I'll have to decide if this issue is a deal-breaker or not. There's lots I like about the phone, and in the long term I could probably live with holding carefully and/or setting down when I want to rearrange apps/widgets, but if it happens enough that I can't use swipe style keyboards without them freaking out any time my fingers touch the side of the phone I'll have to think long and hard about it.
I'll keep you posted.

[Q]Unlocking bootloader without typing IMEI on sony website

Hi,
I've seen that it's possible to unlock One X bootloader without having to type in the IMEI at the HTC website. Is there something like this for sony devices? Z1 precisely.
I know that we can unlock our bootloader and then relock it with the backup, but still our IMEI gets sent to SONY so we still lose the warranty. Does any of you know a way how to get the unlock code without IMEI being sent to sony?
I'm not sure whether it's ok to post it here, but it's actually cross-device question.

No, there is no way.
If you look at the terms and conditions closely you will also notice requesting the code itself does not void your warranty. Using it will, in some countries.
It all boils down to the countries consumer laws of the device owner really...
In The Netherlands we have a very strict law, if something is clearly a manufacturing issue or design flaw, bootloader locked or unlocked, Sony is obliged to replace or repair the device free of charge.
Well, you tick the box that it may void your warranty and that you'll pay for any repair so doesn't that mean that you lose warranty straight after you type the imei?

To be honest, I CBA to search for you, but check my Z1/ZU/Z/ZL DISASTER RECOVERY thread, some people have done that.
There are loads of people who had a loose back plate on the Xperia Z (caused by overheating in a specific ROM version) and after relocking the bootloader their devices where repaired within warranty, no questions asked.
My guess is that the IMEI is required to generate the device specific unlock code and that Sony is not keeping them stored in some database. If they do, the service centers clearly do not check that database
Thank you very much. After I get my back glass and flap replaced I'll unlock my bootloader. Thanks for making it clear

Second bootloop

Hi guys.
So i got yesterday my second bootloop.
My phone was repaired under warranty 2 months after i purchased it. And now the exact same behaviour after 1 year and 2 months .
Going to give it again for repair but honestly i am pissed about the poor job LG did....
So no LG for me again. Hope you who repaired it don't get it again, but i know for sure there will be second and third for sure.
P.S: Bootloader locked, stock
My replacement boot looped today. Lasted one month. Same way as the last one, while trying to call out.

Thats the thing. No matter replaced or swapped motherboard the bootloop is around the corner.
Brutal to hear that it's still occurring. I got mine fixed under warranty with a diff motherboard in it now. Seems like nothing is safe at all from LG
I have the bootloop problem too but i can't repair it under warranty because my model is Taiwanese and I live in Europe so I said screw you and I just use my cell without the 2 big cores. It works perfectly until now, and if one day it will not work anymore I'm going to just by a new phone, probably a Xiaomi.

After three weeks i got it back. Not to mention that the repair centre accessed my Google account... That's another story.
I tried to set my phone up but every 2-3 minutes the brightness goes from 40% to 100% and back. The phone didn't detect 2,4Ghz router only 5Ghz.
Losses the setting every time i go back.
After three times of hard reset i gave up.
Send it back again.

How long have you been using the phone with the big cores disabled? How's the performance after the cores disabled?
Mine bootlooped because I got it too close to the fire. Running on 4 cores too. But using my old reliable Redmi 1S as backup. Not trusting LG G4 anymore.
I have 4 motherboards, I have gone through the 508, 604, 607 and now 609. It is a disaster LG, I will never buy anything from this brand again.

When I did the big core disabling fix I had all the 4 cores enabled but when you reboot your phone you'll have only one of the 4 cores enabled. To enable the other 3 your phone must be rooted, and you have to go sys/devices/system open the online file that is located in the folders cp1/cpu2/cpu3 and change its content from 0 to 1
Well, since i had my G4 on service for 2 times now, i actually hope it bootloops again, because than i will recieve new phone (or so i was told last time).

If it was a third party theme, then it would go away when I booted into safe mode. It's also there all of the time in every app. It highly unlikely it's not a theme that's causing it.

They will let me know what they have decided and whether they will accept the complaint. Guys what is your opinion about this case? Pixels are very tiny and do not affect the function of the device, but I see them and they bother me.

Yeah, dead pixels occur on all screens, it happens to all manufacturers.
That doesn't mean you should have to pay for their mistakes. I'm absolutely anal about having a great screen, so even one dead pixel would make me flip my ****.
