Double tap to wake up Galaxy S3 - Galaxy S III General

I wonder if someone is working on implementing this great feature in a kernel or a rom. Is this feature hardware or software related?
TapTap App is a good effort, but leaves the proximity sensor always on and consumes a good amount of battery.

Sorry to bump this...

I have been playing with my friends Nexus 4 and upgrading/customizing it.. I found 'Touch Control' works great, but it is only for the Nexus phones...
Is there anyway to get this sort of app for the Samsung GS3? Thanks!

such mods, it is recommended only in Xposed framework, otherwise degrade performance and battery

wrong. double tap is better to be controlled by kernel module. as it is on a lot of devices(n4,n5,htc one,one m8 etc...)

Thanks for the reply!

i dont use custom kernels on my s3, use plain stock cm :/ .

Googymax (and other kernels) has a Touch To Wake feature. Works well. Only single tap though.

yank kernel!

Thanks for the reply!
I will check those out guys! Thanks very much!!

EX-3Minit Users That Are Using 4.4.2 KitKat...

Due to recent events, no 3Minit available for 4.4.2...
What mods/apps are you using to emulate 3Minit options? I REALLY liked the long press back kill app option, This is my MAIN concern, I've used some other mods that aren't quite the same, they are slow, and I have to do it twice sometimes when killing certain apps Can you guys suggest something that is similar and quick as 3Minit, that's my MAIN concern on 4.4.2 TW custom roms. And other functions as well, any suggestions, good experiences? Thanks members!

Thanks, but that's one of the many I have tried and it is stupid slow compared to 3Minit's and the one that use to come with Omega. 1 reply, maybe it's time to switch permanently to AOSP, or GPE, thanks again ozkaya for ur help, take it easy!!

Pedometer for aosp based roms ?

Thinking of moving to ASOP based ( cm or paranoid, etc ) rom.
However the s health app with pedometer is a big miss for these roms.
What are the alternative apps that people are using. I tried a bunch of them but nothing seems to be working well like S health
Thanks
Did you ever find something suitable? I'm looking for the same thing.
Found few but nothing is as good as s health. The biggest issue had been having the app killed. S health runs 24 x 7 with no user input.

Wich AOSP ROM are you using? I've tried with CM11 but pedometer sensor was not working on milestone 9,at least for me... I love AOSP ROMs and would be great having a full functional alternative to stock.
Thank you!
Am back to Stock rom :crying:

This one doesn't work for me (CM11 M12). Counts the first step, then shows about 214 million steps... :crying::crying:
Do you guys know of health app that google released a few weeks ago?
Its called google fit
It 's fairly accuuratr in counting steps, determining whether you are running or biking etc etc
It does not have a start button and runs in the background .give it a day or two to sum up all the information
Its available on the playstore(syncs all the data to the cloud also hence you don't lose your progress)

Nexus 6P Wave 2 Wake display?

Hello, just a quick question, I'm pretty sure I already know the answer just need verification to help curb disappointment if it happens.
Custom ROMs support waving hand over proximity sensor on the 6P to wake up the display ala Moto X ActiveDisplay?
I think stock does not support it, but custom ROMs do I think/hope.
Thanks.
Nobody knows? really?
You could try the app Gravity Screen. I know it's not baked in to the system, but it works well and doesn't even need root. I know it must use some extra battery life, but I haven't noticed much of a hit.

I'm using AICP 12.1 (by optx) which is based on LOS14.1.
It's from January I believe but I have used it for a daily since then with next to no issues.
Sorry I don't have the link right now but I will edit this post as soon as I find it.
I find it best to not use Google Play Services and use "Yalp Store" which you can find on F-Droid site.
However some apps may need GPlay Services due to dependencies. (Just flash OpenGapps, make sure you flash with the rom and not after it's been booted without them installed)
(Snapchat requires GPlay Services to be installed before it even opens)
But yeah, it's very very smooth just battery life is not the best... I can still get a full days use if I don't sit on it all the time. (Tested a "new, genuine" battery which has same results...)
No issues with BT, WiFi, NFC or RIL.
All sensors working as supposed to incl. Fingerprint scanner. (Haven't tested heart beat sensor)
Only reason I have to link this is because the nightlies for Nougat have been removed from AICP's servers
Camera works great, haven't had one force close yet...

Thank you for the answer, good to know, because in the A510F I was sick of Samsung Experience but thanks to Exynos LineageOS was just awful, now in S5 I can install it and I'm curious. PD: The infrared works? I use it a lot (I'm a bit laxy hahaha) so it's an important feature for my daily use.

Yuppppp.
If you look in the quick tiles pulldown (statusbar) you should find a performance mode option. I use that to save battery when I don't need it to be zippy fast. (You may have to edit tiles) also go into AICP extras and look for scrolling cache and force disable it.
Is there any ROM with battery better than TouchWiz Stock ROM? I need battery more than anything. Haha

Don't know, I'm a bit amateur in this device. But probably not, maybe one Touchwiz based ultralight can help you.

I'm sorry to ask again, but I have a last question he he. I installed LOS14.1 and I have some Wi-Fi and Mobile data problems (like it power off and restart the signal or the WiFi is quite slow...) Do you have those problems in that ROM you shared in this thread? (If not I will install it, I'm a bit sick of the dam WiFi). Thanks in advance.
Oh... this is sad, because I tested LineageOS and the battery life was very poor...

Hi mate, no I don't...
I use LTE 90% of the time which doesn't help me answer this question much but I usually only have problems with Wi-Fi when the signal is low.
Have you upgraded the device to the latest stock firmware before flashing TWRP / new rom?
I noticed the Modem is read-only so flashing a rom won't change it.
Not sure what to say to be honest.
Have you got an aftermarket back cover? non-genuine or made of metal perhaps?

Are you referring to LOS15.1? Because battery isn't too bad on Nougat builds. Not the best but is usable.

Yes LOS14.1/15.1 are terrible for battery.
I understand other ROMs are built from LOSbut I've had better luck using AICP 12.1 (Nougat 7.1.2)
If you can't find a recent build let me know and I'll link one to you.

Haven't really been observing that.
All I know is it's good when in Doze and lasts me a whole day light - med usage with screen on full brightness and no battery saver mode all the way down to 0%
