How to restore nexus one to original rom

Hi can someone please help with this, i am completely new to this. I have read about it but had no luck in restoring my handset.

Did you unlock the bootloader? or is there phone not rebooting right?

yes i have unlocked the bootloader, i have a custom firmware on the device

If I read posts from Cyanogen correctly, there should be a nandroid of the original stock firmware of the Nexus One (there is no one's info in this backup)
Just put the folder in the root and run a nandroid restore

[Q] New TN7 - what to do first: root or upgrade?

Hello guys,
my TN7 is nagging me to upgrade from 4.2.2 to 4.3 via OTA. I've read that with the upgrade the bootloader will be locked and if I tried to root afterwards a full wipe will be neccessary to unlock the bootloader.
So here's my question: if I root first and upgrade then will root access persist or do I have to suffer a full reset anyway? What would you suggest?
Any hints are appreciated!

I have not rooted my device but after you upgrade to 4.3, within 5-10 minutes it will ask you again to upgrade to 4.4.2. I think you should consider this also before rooting. ( I am having 4.4.2. )
What is the advantage of rooting TN7?

All my Android devices are rooted, because in general I don't like the idea that there is a lot of potential hidden from the customer. For example if you want to make Nandroid backups you need root access. And I'm using Nandroids excessively
Other apps like Tasker need root access to use their full potential.
So the question remains: will root stick through the upgrade(s) or not? And if it doesn't, what can I do make it persist?

no, you will need to root after each update. So you might as well do the updates, then the root. many here are wishing they would have just stayed on 4.3 and not rooted (IMHO) The only thing I like about KK is the gamepad mapper.

I did the two updates (4.3 and then 4.4.2) then I unlocked the boot loader and rooted using the tool as it supports the 4.4.3 update.
Was plain sailing and no problems.

Thanks guys, so I'm going to root on current version to backup all apps and settings. Then I can do both updates and unlock the boot loader without worrying about data loss.

So, I promised to report back. Coming from Android 4.2.2 I did the following:

I used the Chinese method, but please be aware that this way there is strange software installed on your device.
Then I grabbed Titanium Backup Pro and created a backup of all my installed apps. Those backups and important data from internal storage were pushed to a remote FTP server, because I read that unlocking the boot loader also wipes sdcard0.
Next step is installing all three OTA updates. Please be patient, because that this (especially the update to 4.4.2) may take some time.
Unlock boot loader. CAUTION: ALL DATA WILL BE LOST! Follow the instructions of Super Tool:

Flash ClockworkMod Recovery with Super Tool or manually via fastboot. I recommend Super Tool, because it's very handy to use.
Boot to CWM and flash SuperSU.zip by Chainfire and you should be good to go. Now you can reinstall Titanium Backup and restore your previously backed up apps and data from your remote location!
I hope this could come in handy for someone!

I am going to root , but after at least 3-4 month's of usage. In the past I had rooted LG O1, CUBE U9GT4, iBall Andi4.3a. I also love taking BKPs with TB, very useful for game progress.
Have you tried "viper4android audio mod" and "GLTools"(for maximizing graphics performance for any app)?

Nope, unfortunately it won't work this way, because the stock recovery system looks for a special signature which is not present in the zip file.

Neither one of them. But this is possibly because I don't play games on my tablet usually

Personally I'd do it as soon as possible, because you will lose all your saved data. So the earlier you root, the less you have to restore

[Q] Can't update OTA 4.4.3 w/rooted stock GPE

Hi folks! I have a Galaxy S4 GPE, rooted and unlocked, but stock otherwise. When I try to run the OTA update for 4.4.3, the phone reboots into TeamWin recovery and appears to start installing. The install errors out though. Can I not install the OTA update because I'm rooted? If so, would reverting the rooting allow me to install? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Is there a thread on how to do that? I seem to remember when I installed this recovery tool to root the phone, it wiped everything. Is it going to do that again? Because I don't want to have to keep wiping my phone every time a new Android update comes out just to be rooted.

Flash it via Odin or simply restore recovery from Nandroid backup..

I went through that method, and it's essentially the same thing, except that I'm downloading the actual update file myself and not letting Android handle it. Needless to say it didn't work. I also updated my TWRP to 2.7.1.0 and tried; no luck. I also uninstalled SuperSU to see if removing root would help. It didn't.

It's the problem of no read for be vague. It worked perfectly on the GPE of my sister. The update that appears in the website is ready for install it through custom recovery. Read all the guide:

I want Lollipop and my Nexus 4 won't shut up about the OTA update. Naturally, it failed, and i have since tried to find a fool-proof guide to uptade it WITHOUT LOOSING DATA. Not been so lucky. Theres talk about fastbooting (?) and going back to stock, but not much in the way of step-by-step guides. I think most people with nexus 4 and root are like me - did it because it was easy, not knowing a lot about it...
I have rooted with towelroot, installed TWRP custom recovery with flashify, unlocked bootlocker with Bootunlock, installed Xposed framework and SuperSU. Never used ADB or any commands. Can't be the only one in this exact situation
What excactly do i need to do to get Lollipop without loosing any data (like a regular OTA update)?

Maybe user Titanium Backup or some kinda backup software to backup files and stuff then just go for a fresh installation? Most of the basic settings should be saved to your google account.

Thanks for the quick reply! But i was hoping for a solution that DIDN'T wipe my phone. I just wanna undo all the rooting business, so i can do the OTA...

Follow these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312.
there are a few things to note:
1. You do not need to unlock the bootloader, you will have done that when you rooted
2. Download the 5.0 image instead of the original stock image when you do this.
3. DO NOT flash userdata.img. That will wipe your data.
Those are the steps I followed to flash over to 5.0 without losing data.
But I would absolutely do a backup anyway, just in case something goes wrong.

Ok, cool. So you're saying to towel-root my device, unlock bootloader with bootunlocker app, remove root by installing SuperSU and using the clean-up funtion. And then adb fastboot flash boot/recovery/system from the FACTORY img? Why not sideload the OTA instead? Because it wont work unless i reflash stock 4.4.4 completely?

[Q] NEXUS 4 Wont Update to Android 5.0.1

Hi,
I have a rooted Nexus 4 with android 5.0 lollipop build LRX21T.
I have TWRP recovery installed version : v2.8.0.1
The device id rooted via placing the zip file in the device and flashng it via TWRP recovery.
But i am not able to update to android 5.0.1 via google OTA update.
Everytime i try to install the 5.0.1 OTA it goes to TWRP recovery.
I found that the downloaded OTA update file is placed in /cache folder , so i try to update it manually but failed as it shows some update partition error.
"E: error executing updater binary in zip '/cache/e93b********************.signed-occam-LRX22c-from-LRX21T.e93b****.zip"
update partition details.....
I think i am getting this error because the device is rooted.
Can someone guide me how to update my device..and if this because of the rooted device how to unroot without going back to stock.

You can't flash the ota in twrp. You have to be 100% stock recovery, system, kernel, and radio. Flash the stock recovery with fastboot then try the ota.

I flashed the stock recovery the OTA update continued in the stock recovery , then it showed a error....and i had to restart the phone ...now the ota update has disappeared with the phone still in android 5.0 ...Can you tell me how to get the OTA update back...?
1)Does the error came because the phone is still rooted ?
2) If so how do i remove the root with returning stock .?
3) also if i root and return to stock will it wipe my phone apps and their data...
Now i got the OTA update downloaded manually on my laptop and and booted into stock recovery to try to sideload the zip it gave me the error
"package expects build fingerprint of google /occam/mako:5.0/LRX21T or google /occam/mako:5.0/LRX22C user release keys; this device has google/occam/mako:4.4/KRT160 user release keys .....
This is weird as i am running android android lollipop 5.0 LRX21T and not android kitkat....

Tried both...with and without Root....same error....

Try flashing factory image.
The OTA will flash only on the stock recovery it won't work in any modified/custom recovery. So flash stock recovery first then you are good to go.
Edit: You may also try flashing the factory image, u may lose your data while doing that
Head to https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and download the latest image, flashing procedure is explained there too.Its not compulsory to lock bootloader afterwards BTW, its personal preference.

Actually i dont want to flash stock as i will lose all the data in the process....
Any other way....?
If there is no other way could you please suggest any tool kit which will backup all data including sms ,contact, call logs and all app data and /data/media folder. in one go ...?

use advanced backup from twrp backup menu and select data only to create a nandroid backup of data only
you can also use titanium backup to backup to choose what to backup and restore it afterwards but it will need root again.
sync your contacts with google server

Flah rom in fastboot

Download factory image, flash system, bootloader and recovery manually. You won't lose your data.

You need stock recovery to proceed flashing the OTA, custom recovery won't flash the OTA, i don't think being rooted is the issue Just flash the stock recovery to solve the problem.

Rooted IS an issue. You can't be rooted and apply the OTA file, it will fail every time. As a previous poster has said, the phone MUST have stock bootloader, recovery and be not rooted for the stock OTA's to apply. If they see any modification during the process, they abort. It's been discussed many times.
