Crunchyroll Ouya App - Ouya General

I'm not sure if this is the section to ask under but here goes nothing.
The ouya store version of the crunchyroll app supports HD streaming but the Google play store version of the app does not. I was wondering if it was possible to back up the ouya version and install it on another android device. For example the asus transformer which uses the same tegra 3 chip as the ouya. Or just any phone or tablet since ouya just runs a skinned version of android.

I think so. Titanium backup for example.

Alright. I guess the next step is, would any one be willing to try. I don't actually own an ouya.

@Kairoku it installed on my phone fine, I didn't go as far as signing in to the service though. Let me know if it works fully for you?
P.S. it was in mnt/asec and I just sent it to Box from ES file explorer.

Thanks, I it works just fine but doesn't seem to load videos in HD. There must be more to this then they are letting on.

I am not at home right now to check, but I am pretty sure there were a couple files in the same folder with apk. Will upload them and post a link when I can.

Alright, Thanks a lot!

According to Crunchyroll staff, it is the same app on OUYA and Android, and it just runs in tablet mode on the OUYA. It seems like I remember reading that HD in phone mode is not supported yet. It could be that it doesn't correctly detect HD support on all tablets, either.

Damn, well it was worth a shot. I'm so damn tired of waiting for HD support.

Flipboard tablet .apk

Hi,
there is said to be a tablet version for 7" tablets.
Could someone of you install Flipboard and mail me the apk?
Thanks a lot!
(You can save the apk file with FileExpert for example)
I'm not aware of any tablet versions of Flipboard. Do you have any references?
I wrote them and they said they have a 7" version.
If you mean that the devs told you that directly, then they should also be able to tell you where to get it, and I'd imagine that they would make it available on the Play Store. I'm going to assume that you asked them something along the lines of "Is there a version of Flipboard for 7" tablets?" and they said yes, but what they really meant was that Flipboard works on 7" tablets and there's only one version.
I do not want to discuss this further.
If anyone has it, I would really appreciate if she/he could send it to me.
End of story
No discussion needed, just ask the dev again.... then u know for sure because I also think they misunderstood u....

I just looked on the Play store and it says it's Flipboard is compatible with my Nexus 7. Is the Play store version not the one you want?
I guess it may not be downloadable/available in certain countries.
Have you tried the apk from this thread?

Yeah I just tested it and it's portrait only at the moment. On the bright side--cool app! Never tried it before.
It looks like 7" is where they draw the line between phone and tablet currently and tablets arent supported yet. As a new user I cant post links here yet but if you go to the official flipboard support page and enter searchterm "tablet" you can see where i got this from and add your voice to the requests.
There is a workaround using some rotation control app but feel free to add to the thread asking for a tablet version.

[VIDEO REVIEW] First Look at the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" Tablet

In this video, I go over the camera, video playback, audio books, and a few other fun items.
Before you ask....
Yes, I loaded apk files on here that you would not normally be able to get from Amazon's Appstore. Most worked with no problems.
Nice review... the best that I have seen so far (inc the Verge etc)
Hey just wanted to say thanks for the review. I was on the fence about this and you sold me with the side loading ability. I loved the original Fire, and was looking forward to this. But after reading a few posts about it being locked, and now knowing if it will be rooted I was no longer sure about it. So side loading makes a huge difference.

The Play Store requires files to be manually placed into the /system/app folder and the permissions to be changed. That requires root. All of the other apps were either grabbed from my Nexus 7, or found elsewhere. I downloaded ES File Explorer from the Amazon Appstore, and used it to install the apks.
No PAID apps were harmed in the making of this video.

Thanks for the great review !
The two apps I'm most interested in getting to work on a Kindle Fire HD are Google Maps and Google Now. I know there's no gps but I assume there is some kind of wifi based location ability ? Or just tell Google Maps where I am.
I figure maps shouldn't be too hard, what do you think ? I guess Google Now might require rooting though, is that the case ?
The device itself is pretty sick. But it's still stuck in Amazon's crappy software. It's like putting rims and ground effects on a Pinto; either way, it's still a Pinto.
Thanks for the review - I would like to see how the ComiXology app works but the fact that sideloading works takes a great load off my mind.
I'm definitely going to save up for the 8.9".

Ouya Store .apk side load to Android phone

Simple
I would like to know if there is an Ouya store .apk I could sideload to my phone so I could download Ouya exclusive titles and play them with a BT controller on my phone.
Dont see why it could not work.
If only it was that easy.

There's the Ouya ODK meant for the android SDK, it has the framework APK and launcher APK. it used to work on nexus 7 2012 but it hasn't been maintained and is not something the ouya team really cares about.

They are working on the "Ouya Everywhere" thing (apparently an Ouya app market for other "microconsoles" but I surely won't be trusting it for fear that it will interfere with games I've bought through other channels (Humble Bundle, Play Store, etc) as the Ouya OS did on the actual Ouya device when I tried to sideload DRM-free purchases from Humble Bundle, etc. The excuse I was given was that the Ouya system uses the package name to determine if a game was legally purchased or not. Instant loss of faith in the abilities of their development team for me right there...
Really feels to me like the Ouya project is getting ready to abandon the whole thing in favor of this "Ouya Everywhere" junk, and if that's the case, I'm done with 'em. I'ma convert my Ouya to CyanogenMod and those few games I was foolish enough to already buy from the Ouya Market are the absolute LAST of my money Ouya will ever see.

I came across it looking for other OUYA apps after I went to CM11... So far downloading and installing works well on my Note 3. But I see me using this more on my OUYA..
I want to install that but google play says it isnt compatible with my shield tv console... is there an apk somewhere i can download?
This may help.

[Q] [Razer Forge] Anyone tried Rooting it yet?

So the Razer Forge is a nice little Android TV Device, but we can't use Netflix on it. But that's not the question here. My question is if anyone has gotten the bootloader unlocked and device Rooted? Has anyone been working on it? I also noticed when enabling developer options, that there were special "Razer Tools", which I don't quite know what they do.
Kingroot. But what is benefit of rooting it which apps are good for android tv with root.

Not sure if it required to root the device. I bought one 3 days ago and spent many hours trying to get it working the way I want. I tried all different factory roms etc., but still no Google Apps etc. Finally I found the post about using Air-Share. Air-Share shows as available for the NP in Google Play. Once installed, a web server runs on the device to which once can browse. You can then upload your apk file. Once upload is completed the installed appears on the NP screen / TV. I installed Kodi, Netflix, Speedtest and many other apps this way over the last few days.

I just bought the NP so I can use Kodi & Netflix. The rest is optional. I like some of the stuff that shows on the home screen sometimes that is recommended by Youtube. The only thing I dont like about the BP is that there is no power off. In other words Google wants 24/7 access to the thing.

Ill be using root with Proxy Droid and TWC TV so I can stream TWC from a family members house. Also, stickmount should work now so external USB drives can be manually mounted to increase storage space. I imagine for the most part that root will offer many the same benefits as it did for fire tv users plus its good just to future proof yourself I guess because the exploit wont last forever.

Also, for those saying KingRoot isnt working make sure your device is connected with Wifi ONLY, do NOT change the file name from its original and install via a file explorer and not directly from within team viewer.

Well, the ADT-1 or the Nexus Player. The reason being, I wanted to see if either Netflix Casting or the netflix app work.
Something was mentioned here: https://plus.google.com/+IsraelOliverJr414515/posts/JJRT7GXZvvp

So i see a guide helping you to set this up, it says you need to use the old version of dolphin with triiforce emulation (they removed it a while back), so you use Dolphin 4.0-309 to achieve making a save stateas controllers don't work on this version, then install Dolphin 4.0-315 as this version will let you play once you have the save state that skips the intro.
So these are rough instructions i come across and followed, the apks install but force close when i try to open them. Tbf i have only tried this on my phone ATM but not sure why there would be an apk that doesn't even run.

Dolphin on shield works nicely, especially the new update with a few different settings you can achieve close to full speed on a lot of games now. There are plenty videos on YouTube of shield running dolphin - check em out so you can see performance.
These apks don't run on my phone or my shield, they just force close so i guess that's the end of the road..
https://dolphin-emu.org/download/list/Triforce/1/ can people try the apks on this list and see if they run on your android device
anyone?
