[Q] No matter what I can not get into recovery - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a co-workers Sprint LG G2 (lg ls 980)phone and I thought this would be a simple process to root. I mess with Samsung's and HTC all the time.
I have it rooted and super user is fine. I wanted to put on TWRP so he can flash different roms and themes.
The phone works great I just cant get into recovery. I tried an app called flashify and quick boot and nothing works.
So I went the old school way, probably should have done it that way from the start and pushed with adb. It shows its fine like always.
I tried that quick boot again and all I get is this message.

Any ideas would be great. I have also downloaded
Sprint LG G2 Back To Stock.zip
I was hoping there was an easier fix than doing this.
Thanks in advance.

If you can boot into system and have working adb just plug in and type
adb reboot recovery

I have done that and it still brings me to the same screen.

Sample usage
=============
First, a developer must pull the aboot image from a target device:
[email protected]:~$ adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ su
[email protected]:/ # dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot of=/data/local/tmp/aboot.img
[email protected]:/ # chmod 644 /data/local/tmp/aboot.img
[email protected]:/ # exit
[email protected]:/ $ exit
[email protected]:~$ adb pull /data/local/tmp/aboot.img
3293 KB/s (2097152 bytes in 0.621s)
if you pull the aboot I could try patching twrp for the phone

I started here and after I read and followed the directions it was pretty easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
His phone went back perfect.. I rerooted and he has a custom rom.

Ok I'm trying to use the same method of resetting and I'm getting the error "Download FAILED!" in red and " "Device model is different!" & "Check phone or dll." However I'm 100% sure I got the right firmware and dll and device model is correct. I've done that exact guide over and over for the past 11 hours and some other ones too. My brain is hurting, I can't boot into recovery for some reason and I'm stuck in a boot loop.

You have to be in download mode. Make sure com port is set right

Does this method remove the root? I'm just wondering as I've read a few posts about people having issues with OTA updates with rooted phones. My phone is rooted and I'm trying to figure out the best/safest route to follow once KitKat if officially released.

If you flashed before have you saved any ROM's on you phone? If so did you try to wipe and restore one of your old roms?

have you tried connecting it to your pc via linux? since it doesn't need usb drivers to connect, you may be able to flash recovery via terminal then.

Sux for me! After installing Ubuntu, applying all java updates, and running the unbricking app, my NS4G is still not recognized by a computer. I've also applied updates of the MTP drivers. Sigh, I'm doom til the actual release from sprint.

What can be the problem when rooting?

I used wugfresh's tool kit for unlocking and rooting my N7.
Unlocking went fine, but when I clicked to root, it just stayed on bootloader until I pressed the power button after 2 hours to kick out of it.
It just stayed on that screen.
Its defo unlocked as the lock symbol comes up during reboot.
However, I tried to "flash stock+unroot" but again it just stayed on the bootloader screen which means that the device is unlocked but not rooted as there's no superuser files or busybox installed.
Can anyone help me solve this problem as its really annoying me?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Don't use toolkits. Just flash a recovery with fastboot.
Code:
fast boot flash recovery recovery.IMG
then flash a superuser.zip. done

Not a problem. Give me a second to find the Adb and fast boot executables
Edit: couldn't find the sperate files.
Install the android SDK and use PDAnet to install the android drivers for fast boot and Adb. Then use Adb reboot boot loader then the command I said in the first post.

[CWM] [TWRP] Easy Recovery install for Find 5

I first want to note that none of this is my work, I'm simply sharing with the community with the permission from the creator of this tool. All credit goes to kamma for his port of TWRP here and Derek from the OPPO forums for bringing CWM, and of coarse JonaBustos for making this great tool for us to use!

Ok, it looks like the issue is with boot.img it appears to reflash the stock recovery on reboot. Its been talked about in the oppoforums and there seems to be an easy fix using adb shell
Use adb shell to disable it, but you need to have root. Here are command lines :
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cd /system/etc
mv install-recovery.sh install-recovery.sh.old
exit
exit
adb reboot
Recovery should now stick.

Howdy all!
Did you install TWRP and then take the OTA, now you can't get your phone to boot normally, but you do see TWRP?
Here's the easy fix:
If you have ADB access, plug in your phone and run this:
Then you should be able to successfully reboot your phone via the TWRP menu option, or via a simple reboot command in adb.
If you DONT have ADB access (because of an early build of TWRP), you can simply use TWRP's awesome "terminal command" option to run the following:
You'll have to type that whole thing out, and be VERY careful with spaces and punctuation. One wrong letter and you could nuke your phone.
After that finishes, you can reboot and continue on your happy way!
Let me know if this helps anyone!
As usual, I'm on #lg-g2 in Freenode as IOMonster, if I'm around I'll be happy to help wherever I can.

try holding the power buttons for ten seconds or more if it boots into twrp and then just reflash your rom?

I screwed my phone too the day after I got lol but no worries its easy to fix. You just need to download a stock ROM and flash it, you don't even lose any data.

Stuck at LG logo screen (LS980)

So after a huge screw-up I got my phone to get to the LG logo screen. I wiped everything on it but was able to flash the stock recovery partition and the aboot.img and boot.img in fastboot mode (which I was stuck in for the longest time).
Now I can't get into recovery, or download mode whatsoever.
