[Request] Make Halo TouchWiz Multi window compatible - General Paranoid Android Discussion

Hi, I'd love to be able to use Halo as it is intended, also in Touchwiz. This is now possible for most devides, thanks to a brilliant module (XFloatingHalo) for Xposed. Except for Touchwiz, where there is some kind of incompatibility, seems like TouchWiz is interfering with the halo flag, thus backgroud apps are detected as halo apps, bringing them to the front when clicking on them, thus hiding the windowed halo apps
Is there no way around it, to make Halo Touchwiz compatible? Why were the same bits as in Touchwiz chosen, why not other ones?
I have a Note 2, and use the S pen and related features a lot , like the multi window feature , so it would be Great to make them compatible .

PA is developed based on AOSP source code. If you flash a PA ROM there will be no touchwiz conflicts.
If you are using Xposed to replicate halo then the issue lies with the Xposed implementation and not PA

Ok, you're probably right, just thought they would like to maintain compatibility with the original halo and all the launchers for it, like floating notifications , but there's probably a way of doing that.. Hopefully

The pa version of halo is the original halo. The xposed module uses pa source code and packages it into a mod by itself.
Not to seem mad or anything. It is just a little annoying when the PA team does not get credit for the great things they have done for this community.

But how would someone else make money off donations if everyone knew where it actually came from?

Can I flash pie control for cm10?

I am using the latest cm10.1, but I love the PIE control features that used in PA rom, Isn't it possible to flash PIE control in to CM10.1,
Thx
Unfortunately, no. You could install LMT Launcher instead. Its very similar to PA's PIE. It has the look and feel of it.

There's PACMAN rom. Never used it but that has PA, AOKP and CM10 features. (Including PIE)

it has the look, somewhat. elements are pie shaped. the similarities end here.
no notifications, no panels, no toggles, no expand gestures, no snappoints, no refined design, no app colors, its not as fast, its not as cpu/battery friendly, its not polished and doesn't feel like its part of the OS. its a convoluted substitution. few of the things you see in these videos are possible with lmt. pie is slowly turning into a fullblown UI replacement with the same capabilities that your navbars have. this is way out of lmt's comfort zone because not even a root hack has access to statusbarmanagers internals, pie on the other hand is part of it.
pie is open source though, it would be easy to cherry-pick it and add it to your personal cm build. thats what open source is here for. many roms did it, you can take their squashed commits. if you cant do that and you hate PA i'd suggest rootbox. he's actively working on it, making it better.

Porting apps from Touchwiz to CM?

Just curious if this is possible at all? I would love to have the Samsung camera app that unlocks all the features the S4 can do! Also wouldnt mind getting split screen and hover preview to work on Cyanogenmod!
Any insight would be appreciated!
I too am interested to see if it's possible. I know that some that require Touchwiz framework probably won't ever be on CM but does the Camera?
Yeah touchwiz features all require touchwiz framework. That includes the camera. I too wish it was possible but it isnt without Major modifications that would not be worth the time.

What I really hope is that we get some TW ROMs
I love AOSP, don't get me wrong. But TW Camera would be nice.
the new TW is nice for the s4 the camera is great and some other stuff is cool also i just hate how it slows down the potential of this phone
I hope MikeyMike would make a Serendipity rom.

CM10.1 ROM's functionality with s-pen and smart watch.

Hey guys and girls
I understand that custom launchers still allow the s-pen functions to operate.
However, will a custom rom say a cm10.1 based rom allow this as well as allow the syncing between the note and the smart watch?
If not, how could I over come this, I want a cm10.1 which allows me to use all the s=pen functions and smart watch functions properly..
Appreciate any help.
Have you ever read what Cm is all about??
You will loose all TW functions and Smartwatch will notbwork properley.

Hey mate, thanks for the answer, not entirely sure what xposed framework is... Theme chooser either.
I am using a cm10.1 based ROM and I can choose the theme on that but not on my previous ROM which was touchwiz based?

xposed module is something that only requires root to work and give u the ability to make a LOT of changes on your system, one of them is theme chooser that lets u choose a theme and apply it into your system. if you want touchwiz features + cm "kind of look", give it a try
I don't know when did the rumor started, but with cyanogenmod you can use the spen, however, you cannot use multiwindows, pen-window and all the custom features of touchwiz. But you do have pressure sensitivity in apps that support it (like sketchbook pro, paryrus, lecturenotes..), and if you buy gmd spen control you can use custom gestures in all the apps, like installing a floating memo and launching it with the pen button pressed and doing a double tap ( in an old paranoid android i used in the n7000 gestures where baked in the rom itself).
Unfortunately the smartwatch will not work unless samsung updates the thing to pair with all android phones, because right now it needs very recent versions of touchwiz.
Im so sorry about my english.:silly:

Thank you all, I think my best way of going about things is to get a good stock based ROM and use that xposed module to choose my custom theme at the same time using my spen and touchwiz features. Is this correct??:victory:

Which touchwiz features are you trying to keep exactly? Most, if not all, can be replicated on an AOSP rom.
More so the s-pen features. I am running aosp ROM on my s3 ATM fine... But obviously with the note I would be looking at using s-pen perhaps even the watch.. I don't think I can do that with aosp can I ?

GMD gesture control will allow for many many additional Stylus gestures and commands. Also, an app called ink over apps is a good replacement to the screen write.

AOSP themed TouchWiz Dream ROM

My "Dream ROM" for the Note 4 would be:
*Rooted
*Knox removed
*CyanogenMod style theming
*Samsung and Sprint bloatware removed (accept for Facebook sync)
*TouchWiz apps (calendar, messaging, phone, clock, calculator, lockscreen, notification quick settings) replaced with CyanogenMod versions
I am definitely willing to test but lack the skill to compile.
Anyone want to try?
i feel like you picked the wrong phone for that..
Why? I have suggested a TouchWiz rom that just looks like AOSP. Taking the best features of this phone (embodied in TouchWiz functions) and adding the apps of AOSP.
I'm sure there will be CyanogenMod based ROMs for this device but they will lack the expanding Windows that work great on this ROM.
Sounds like you want a different launcher. Try Nova

No.
I was specific with what I want.
I already use another launcher.
Just saying Nova can give the AOSP look. *shrug*

Respectfully, it is not the look, but the interface of those apps that I like better.
Probably better to wait for cm11 to be made official for the Sprint Note 4. Hopefully it happens.

Ordinarily, with most phones, I'd absolutely agree with you.
I flashed CyanogenMod based ROMs for every android I've ever had. In fact I was glad to get rid of TouchWiz for my Galaxies S2 and S3.
However, with this beast, I wouldn't want to give up the S-Note stylus features, floating windows, or one handed mode.
With xposed, I could duplicate the floating windows (x-halo) and split screen view.
But I wouldn't be able to duplicate a lot of the S-Note features (some maybe but not most), lots of the camera features, or one handed mode.
Further, the battery optimization on this phone is phenomenal and I have found the CM based ROMs aren't usually as good.

Agreed. With flashing cm11, there are some trade offs. For me I like the smoothness of cm11 compared to Touch Wiz.

I am working on this right now If everything goes smooth I will have an AOSP Themed Touch Wiz Rom ready
Totally agree with you. CM11 and 12 are great roms, but I love using the s pen as well as the s health and s note apps.

Help please! How to install multi-window on cyanogenmod or any aokp roms?

I used to multi-task by opening two apps at the same time by splitting the screen using the stock rom - TW's multi-window feature. I missed it when I was trying custom roms. Just wondering if we have other options or alternative. Thanks a lot.

Nop.
You can try YouTube popup or other apps that have mods for it. Just another gimmick feature for cm lovers as most of us on it do not care about these gimmicks. And cm is built from aosp and doesn't include anything related to tw framework.
yes there's one!

there are few Xposed modules like XMultiWindow, XFloating Window which I used when I was in CM11.
But those weren't 100% perfect though. give them a try if those modules are compatible in Lollipop
Sorry, but I did a bit of thread cleaning. Please just try and answer the question at hand please. No reason to take pot shots at other users!
