[Q] How to reinstall system apps APK and ODEX - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Sorry, a very noob person here when it comes to andriod. My rooted device fails to update to the new MJ7 firmware from Verizon. I was thinking maybe some system apps I deleted earlier had something to do with it.
So I have download the full system dump in zip file. How can I reinstall them into my phone without ruin the root I had?
Please help! THANKS A MILLION!

There is a good chance by updating you will lose root anyways. Best thing for you to do is ( if you really want to go to the current firmware) is to use Odin, and then re root after.

[Q] Software Update HELP

Sorry if im posting a tread that has already been up but I am new to the Android world and need help. I recently got a Galaxy S4 and after a month I rooted the phone. I didn't do much but use the Root for freedom only and then found out that I can't get OTA updates since my device is modified. So i unrooted my phone and tried to do a software update and it still says my phone has been modified. therefore i backed up all my data and did a factory reset. as soon as the factory reset was done the first thing i did was check for a system update and it still says my phone is modified and can't receive any updates. I am so confused and need help. I really want to be able to get software updates and even if there is none currently i still wish to receive them in the future. someone please help. and sorry if i reposted a thread.

Unroot S4 mini (already on stock rom)

Hi I can find loads of guides to unrooting when stock rom needs flashing, but I am already running stock rom so don't really want to go thought the hassle of losing everything again.
I read a post that said I need to delete SU binary, but tried with root explorer and it wont let me delete it says it's read only
Any tips on how I can unroot when I am already on the correct official rom?
Thanks

Do you have a custom recovery installed? That will stop it. You may have to Odin back to complete stock to get it to update
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

[Q] How to repair OTA update

I had my Tmo S5 rooted and I tried to OTA update. I forgot to uninstall it and now I cant get the OTA. Idk what update it was if it was Lollipop or not. Right now Im on a stock 4.4.2 now non-rooted. Make sure you're not rooted, connect your phone to you PC via USB, start Kies and update from there.

The link you gave me says its UK. Im in the states....does it matter or do I need to find one for the states? I have used Kies once before and it bricked my phone. I wasn't rooted or anything...it just broke my phone. So Im a lil worried to do Kies on this phone...LOL

It won't brick anything if you follow the onscreen instructions to the point. No it doesn't matter that I gave you a UK link. If you're afraid of losing personal data (apps/photos) make a full nandroid backup and copy that to your pc, then copy all your personal photos and files to your pc. Then download and install Kies and follow the onscreen instructions. :good:

No you're not supposed to lose anything. The word "flash" in this context comes from the act of writing data to the flash based ROM chips. So to "flash" means to "write".
I told you to make a full backup in recovery and a manual backup of your files just in case you are worried. But it's always good to make backups.
Generally when flashing roms, I follow these three simple steps:
1 Make a full backup of your current rom in recovery
2 Flash new rom without wiping (aka dirtyflash), see if it works
3 Only if apps start bugging and crashing do a full wipe and flash new rom again

Pokmemon Go/ Uninstalled Kingroot and derooted boot screen custom & gear icon on boot

Pokmemon Go/ Uninstalled Kingroot and derooted boot screen custom & gear icon on boot
Hi, so a while ago I tried using kingroot and installed it for a little bit and used root to uninstall some factory installed apps like amazon, etc. then when i decided i did not want root anymore. i used the kingroot app to remove root and then uninstalled the kingroot application.
then i downloaded a root checker app to see if i was rooted. i was not.
now whenever i boot up my phone it says samsung and then the word custom with a gear icon below it.
now when i tried the newest version of pokemon go version 0.37.0 it says it cannot run on my device cause apparently it thinks i am rooted.
is there anyway to solve this? other than a factory reset?
I don't think a factory reset would help either.
You'd have to delete every trace of root left on your device, and kingroot probably left some files behind.
Unless you can find them, the most sure method is to flash another ROM (stock) though Odin.
I believe a custom kernel would also work, or the stock boot.img of your current ROM.

The ROM you can get from Sammobile. As for the files left behind, I don't know how kingroot handles those, but to access and delete them you would have to be rooted.

ok, i powered down the phone and held the power and volume up buttons to get into recovery mode and then i selected wipe cache partition. and then rebooted. it seems that has solved the custom and gear icon below on when it first boots up. cause now it shows samsung galaxy s4 which is correct. but when i try pokemon go 0.37.0 it still says this device or software is not supported what should i do now? i heard somewhere that you can use xposed framework module

I already told you that a factory reset does not unroot.
If you want to completely unroot, flash the stock ROM.
If you don't want that, downgrade to Pokémon version 0.35.
0.37 has not even been officially released yet. I mean, I don't even have it on the play store and it's the same for many others.
PS: Xposed also needs root.

You don't need a pit file. And if the files are wrong, the instalation will just fail.
If that's the firmware you had previously, then it's ok.

Yes. But if the firmware is older than what you had on the phone (5.0 > 4.3) it may fail to flash.

YT2-1050L_USR_S100346_1604081524_WW52_ROW-kktol-otafull and now?

Hey folks
after searching a ROM which matches with my Android System Recovery #USR100346_160408 I found one at a page with ir.domain.
Full name of the zip-file "YT2-1050L_USR_S100346_1604081524_WW52_ROW-kktol-otafull"
Now I downloaded it, but there is no flash.xml in it.. so I cant use it the folder with the intel flash-tool.
But how can I install it? or what is ota? ota is update? how can I install it?
Or is this "full" ota not full and a few important files are missing?
I am the absolutely nooooob in cases like this XD
Any ideas and guides?
Best regards
I cannot properly help you with your device as I don't own it - but you're trying to flash the OTA which is just an update. You need to find then flash the full, stock firmware.
http://lenovo-forums.ru/files/file/...-1050l_usr_s100081_1507241439_ww52_row_kktol/
Is this your device? I think it is. If so (and please check properly), then this is the stock firmware and you should flash this.
Again, I can't really help further so good luck.
thanks, i am out XD and call the service .
