[801] Can T-Mobile variant work with Straight Talk? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am on the $30 plan from T-Mobile and is alright, however I am mowing to an area with Zero signal from T-Mobile.
Will switching to a Straight Talk Sim (At&T towers) and paying for their service give my phone their service?
Or would they 801 not work on those bands?

The HTC Sensation 4G does not support AT&T's 850MHz/1900MHz Band in 3G, so you will run at edge speeds (I know this because I just unlocked my friends Sensation 4G to be used on AT&T) As far as unlimited data goes they say unlimited but if they see spikes in your usage wither your on a Plan or Go Phone they will now convert you to a Smartphone Data Package Automatically.
Your best bet depending on who has the best reception where you are at is to either get a Straight Talk Sim Card for T-Mobile, Which your 3G Will work or a Straight Talk Sim card for AT&T which your 2G Speeds will only work
Why don't you get the $60 T-Mobile unlimited plan?
I like Straight Talk, though I'm a little wary of the data limit.
You could also try Simple Mobile $60 plan for unlimited talk, text, and 4g data

Both $60 plans are the same. Except T-Mobile publishes the throttle point. Both companies throttle at 2GB's on those plans.

StraightTalk and multi-band GSM: do they "mix"?

If I get an AT&T compatable StraightTalk SIM does it also pull from T-Mobile's towers for voice (but not 3g ofc)?
In other words, is the difference between the two SIMs (ATT/TMO) only for HSPA coverage, or HSPA and GSM?
Planning on getting my mom an Infuse 4G but I want to make sure that she'll be getting as best voice coverage as possible.
If you get her a Infuse, just get the at&t sim card from straight talk and everything will function just as if it were running on at&t

If you use a T-Mobile SIM you get T-Mobile coverage. If you use an AT&T SIM you get AT&T coverage. It's as simple as that.

Unless the phone supports both bands then you can use either sim card

Yes but you won't be able to use the AT&T towers if you use T-Mobile from the way I understand it.

This is the conclusion I've reached after much research.

Damnit.
Well ATT coverage is great in our home area so I'll just stick to that. Thanks guys.
I was hoping that if an ATT sim was used and no ATT voice coverage was available it would try to roam to a TMO straighttalk service.
Get two SIMs and use Google Voice.

[Q] T Mobile MVNO's

So I am switching from Verizon and I am currently using T Mobile $30 5GB a month data plan with 100 minutes.
Reception at my house SUCKS. Reception at my campus (college student) SUCKS. So I am curious if T mobile's performance is indicative of what I can expect with an MVNO such as SIMple Mobile or Straight Talk. I'm thinking about Straight Talk just because of AT&T but I'm not 100% sure yet.
What is everyone's experience so far?

If your T-Mobile coverage sucks, don't expect the T-Mobile MVNOs to be any better.

Verizon g2 international data?

Going to Nicaragua in a month.
Was going to take the g2 and simply swap out the SIM with a local carrier.
Any chance this will work without incredibly expensive Verizon international plan?
Thanks, and sorry for the noob question...

Yes. The GSM portion of Verizon phones are unlocked out the box.

[Q] Unlocked XT07 on US GSM carriers?

When my VZW contract is up, can VZW unlock my phone so I can use it on GSM pre-paid carriers in US like Straight Talk?

Freedom!
Just switch to Verizon prepaid. It's almost as cheap as the others
