Moto X promo code valid until 12/16/13 11:59PM EST - Moto X General

Hey guys I have a promo code for moto x. I will give it to first senior member or above who replies here.
GOGOGO

Offer it to any member please. Every member deserves the ability to save $150, especially considering that code disintegrates at midnight.

Ok. I just hope that person won't be one-post-member.

I have an unused one. PM me if you want it,

I have a similar post up and it's had 83 views and not one person sent me a PM. I'm not even asking them to do anything crazy or taxing. A simple PM will result in a code and these lazy people aren't even going to do that. I don't want just anyone to grab the code and use it. I want a developer to grab it and use it to create new content for this awesome device. Is that too much to ask for? More so, I don't want some clown to take the code and then try to sell it on Ebay or CL.
I'm just trying to keep things honest and beneficial to the XDA community. Understand though, I already have a Moto X and I won't use this code. If it disintegrates at midnight I couldn't care less. I'm just wanting to help push this Moto X community forward. You can think whatever you want but I'm not concerned.
I got this for my wife who changed her mind at the last minute this morning and I'm trying to be nice and give it away. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Not everyone is a dev on XDA, my friend as though that we be wonderful if it were true, it isnt. Likelihood is, any dev who wanted one KNEW they wanted one, and thus have already acquired a code and arent looking for one with 8 hours left till the deadline. please. Dont let the code disintegrate. Let some poor soul who is still unfortunately looking, get it. No one is going to attempt to buy/sell these codes with such a tiny time frame left. Would you?

Dude, I get what you're saying and I definitely don't think that everyone on XDA is a developer. That's not the point that I was making at all. I want to give the code away and all I was asking was for someone to PM me for it. I know that there are people who want to develop for the Moto X and would consider buying one at this discounted price to be able to do that. Obviously I'm not planning on selling it or I would've instantly have done that. It drives me crazy that people are even doing that in the first place.

Two Promo Codes Expiring midnight (EST) tonight
I have two Moto-X $150 Promo Codes, which I am ready to share whoever sends me the PM first. One Code per Member. I would request to please ask for the Code, only if you are 100% sure you are going to buy the Moto-X today.

I have 1 too just in case

I'm blown away that we have codes available for people to use and no one is contacting us to snag one. SMH. Just a couple of days ago people were foaming at the mouth to get a promo code.

Gave my code to "royopata"

Aww man. I just saw this. I registered here just to comment that I wanted one (and I don't have any plans of selling it, mind you. I don't have a Moto X). Oh well. Now that I have an account here (instead of being a "guest" when viewing posts), might as well join in on this.

I have a spare Google Voice Invite

I signed up for google voice months ago, and today got an invite through
Unfortinatly, its for US users only and i live in the UK.
Im willing to give this to someone here who is a active member of the forum, lives in the US and who deserves it because he/she helps people or has made great contributions to this forum ect.
So I think we should take a vote on who this goes to, and no voting for yourself. Whoever has the most votes gets it.
Too bad I'm pretty new to these forums, I would sure like one
Can I have it?
I'd be up for it.
I'm too new again to nominate anyone.
Course... I'm in the US and would love to have it :->
I'd love to have it.
If it is not tied to the email you signed up for in the waiting list, I too am willing to give out an invite.
i remember back when Gmail was invite only, i had the fortune to be one of the first and always gave invited out to everybody LOL
anyway, i would love to try this new voice service, any chance i could get an invite please??
thanks
A little tip for some of you guys. If you haven't already done so, go ahead and sign yourself up for an invite on the official google voice page.
Google is rolling out invites pretty fast right now. My brother signed up for an invite about 4 days ago and he just got his invite. He did sign up for an invite twice, don't know if that would make a difference, but trying doesn't harm anybody.
I already got mine about a month ago. Now if only we had an awesome app to work with.

Agreed this google voice thing is nice but without a app on wm its just doesn't do anything for me unfortunatly.
Still up for grabs if anyone who has a higher post count wants it.
Google voice seriously needs a Windows Mobile App.
I would like to give it a try if it's still available.
Not a mega poster or ROM developer, but try to help when I can.
Thanks!
Update: I got an invite from Google, no need to be considered. Thanks!
Google Voice is AWSOME Free Long Distance calls from home phone
i think it'd be nice to give it to someone with a high post count, contributed to the community and has at least a star next to their name. i'm not talking about myself.
nobody saw this app ?

GV Dialer
Though it costs 10$ after the 30 day trial www.gvdialer.com has a decent option.
It's the best I've used I think between OneDialer / iDialer, etc etc
It makes calling extremely easy, no doubt someone could replicate the concept and produce a similar app here.
Though we definitely need the ability to send texts.

Already saw those apps and I was concerned about privacy. Everything goes through a relay server which is not encrypted. The author of that app may have the best of intentions, but I don't take chances in this matter.
I'm not sure if my post count is high enough or how much contribution you're looking for but I had a few helpful posts in the early days of the Fuze, helped out Herg and 12aon with their interfaces and would love to have it if it's still available.
ITNV has the highest post count that was intrested in it so it has been sent to him.
I would like to try the google voice service. I do helps people in the forum and make roms for other. Hopes I can get the invite.

[CLOSED] G2 Root Bounty

Root bounties have become increasingly popular and seem like a great way to draw specialized attention to our cause.
I'm considering starting a root bounty for the G2 (I'd toss in a few bucks myself to kick it off).
Thoughts? If enough people +1 this (I don't need you to pledge dollar amounts, but don't +1 if you wouldn't definitely donate at least $1) I'll make a paypal account that people can drop cash into.
UPDATE
I closed the paypal account as it had received $0 since my initial $5 deposit. Kickstarter declined our request for a new project. Consider this effort dead.
+$20 for root
Match $20!
However, I'm hoping I can get some direction on rooting via OSX. All the root directions seem to be for windows only.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I'll pledge $50
I want root as much as anyone but don't you think the day after the official release is a little soon to be offering a bounty? Again, I don't object, I'm just a fan of letting the natural process take place
I can pitch in 20.
I hope that everyone who makes a pledge actually follows through...

Agreed; pledges mean little. Due to the quick and positive responses, I'm creating the paypal account now. I understand the concern people may have that I'll run off with the dough.
The only relevant resume items I have that may quell this fear are:
I'm a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. I didn't go volunteer in the 3rd world for 2.5 years to get rich.
I'm a long-time contributor to the FreeBSD project; my name is listed on the contributor page.

I can work on that for you. I triple boot my macbook pro, windoze 7, osx, and ubuntu 10.10, I have adb in all three and use em to root phones at work for my coworkers. They offer money but I say "no, I can't accept $, I'm just one techie helping another" then they feel bad and buy me lunch! Works everytime! Lol

I think this is premature...... odds are the same methods will work on the G2 as well.

I recommend we use something like kickstarter dot com
Basically the pledges only go through if the project meets its goal, if it doesnt nobody gets charged anything.
Expect some from me later today or tomorrow.
I hope others donate as motivation for more people to jump on.

Motorola Bootloader Petition (>10K sigs & Moto Response)

Visit Groubal and sign the petition: http://www.groubal.com/motorola-lockedencrypted-bootloader-policy/
Retweet: http://twitter.com/#!/ibproud/status/52265679990169600
New Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Unlock-Motorola/115620798518187
UPDATE (14th June 2011):
We are now over the 10,000 mark.
I have now spoken with Motorola and gotten confirmation that Motorola plan to unlock every device that will get an update in the second half of this year. This will include maintenance & firmware updates, but is still subject to Carrier approval.
The promising sign is that Verizon has already allowed Motorola to unlock a device on their network, the Xoom, which utilizes the unlockable/re-lockable model that Motorola intends on using across their devices.
I'm still looking to work with Motorola in the coming months to help see if we can make this a smooth process for Motorola and the community.
You can read the article here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/06/14/an-u...witter&utm_campaign=Feed:+ausdroid+(Ausdroid)
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
UPDATE (26th April 2011):
We are now at ~8,700 mark.
Motorola has now responded to me, stating that they are looking at unlocking bootloaders across their devices late 2011.
The article for the story can be found here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/04/26/the-little-aussie-taking-on-motorola-u-s/#more-8184
We're still seeking clarity around whether this will be for current devices or only future devices.
I couldn't have gotten this far without the support of everyone here. You guys and girls have been a huge support and help me turn this snowball into a wrecking ball.
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
Previous Update (4th April 2011):
We are now at ~7600 mark.
We're starting to slow down from our initial boom, so I have now set up a Facebook page to see if we can wrangle in some supporters that don't use Twitter or XDA.
I will need your help getting this out there. So share the facebook page where you can.
I'm also looking to see if anyone is interested in helping me Moderate the page. Please PM if you are.
Original Post:
Hi All,
I have created a Groubal (online petition) to get a response from Motorola on it's bootloader policy.
>>This petition started for the Atrix, but I made sure that it was for Motorola's overall Bootloader Policy. I have reached 200 signatures in 2 weeks, but now believe it's time to expand this out of the Atrix space and into the larger Motorola Dev community.
If this much effort was put into ROM tweaking we wouldn't need the bootloader unlocked.

Could happen, but the 2 key Devs on the Atrix at the moment are looking at bypassing rather than breaking the bootloader.
They have both admitted to not knowing much about Cryptography.
You do know that there about half a dozen of these petitions already circulating.
They get some steam everytime there is an 'event' surrounding the bootloader, and then they die out just as quickly.
Rather than repeating the cycle, how about 'SEARCHING' for one of the other threads/petitions, and breathe some life into it.

I appreciate the feedback. I did make sure to reference the other significant petition in the Droid X forum, unfortunately the petition on the other one is through an outdated site and Groubal isn't just a petition, once enough interest has been shown for a particular complaint, they have a group that will personally get involved.
Not sure how effective it will be, just thought it was a good approach.
SIGNED! We shall prevail!
Wanna bet?
Thanks for starting this. Signed.

I think around the 1000 mark, Groubal themselves will get involved. If you look at their home page, you will see that the 2 leading Groubals on there marked "Company Response" had around 1100.
AT&T even committed to the HSUPA fix in April. Not sure how much of that was a direct result of Groubal, but it's all very promising.
That's why I strongly encourage everyone to share this as much as they can.
Even if you're cynical, you spend just as much time discounting this than spreading it.
Consider all the other forums and social mediums you use and get it out there.
Ok guys, we now have nearly 800 signatures, nearly 500 in one night alone.
Keep up the great work everyone, this wouldn't be going anywhere without your support.

Just received invite

Hey guys,
I just received my invite to Google glass developers. I would love to purchase a set for development, however do not have the funds to do so.
I figured that it would be worth asking if there are enough people on XDA needing developers to be willing to donate to the purchase of my pair? These would be strictly used for development and testing of other dev's work, and would probably be donated at the end.
If this is not possible, then I would probably be willing to sell the code do an xda Dev.
Please let me know

Sprint device tree bounty

Hello.... I'm starting this thread to set up a bounty for a working device tree.. For the sprint note 4..I am lacking in time to create one myself but have all the experience and ability to use it... So figured I'd offer a bounty to anyone willing to create us a working device tree to use to build Roms from source.... What I'm wanting is a tree that I can build cm and aosp based Roms from.... I'm not asking for Roms I'm asking for a tree that works that I can use to build the Roms myself as well as others.....
If interested in chipping in please list the amount and I'll add your name to the list..... Please Only people who are actually going to donate when/if the time comes ..
Thanks
Bounty:
spleef : $75
Herk718 : $20
Total: $95
@Herk718 $20
I understand the intention here, but I've always found that bounties immediately move work into closed repos, discourages collaboration, and raises questions about who gets the $ if for example, someone gets it 99% there but someone else jumps in for the last step. Will the bounty be split among all collaborators? Will you award the authors of any device repo you fork from? (It's turtles all the way down)
If you want development in the open and people helping each other to get your goal, consider not having a bounty as it's almost never the primary motivator for this kind of work... And often works against what you want. I can tell you personally... My experience with the nook tablet and bounties from a company that wanted to sell the port was pathetic. People were constantly hitting me up on irc and in PM for help, and stealing each others work, and making tiny changes to claim the bounty. Go back and read the forums for acclaim...
Or, look up what happened with the HP Touchpad, which is even more egregious... That fiasco made it to the blogosphere... But the code was flat out stolen and the irc logs pretty jaw dropping.
This is a MUCH smaller project, but still...

@fattire
I do understand where you are coming from...these bounties most always end badly where someone does exactly as you described but let me try to ease some of your doubts....
What I'm looking for is for a person or team to step forward... Then after a discussion with them I'll add their name to the op as being the person doing the task.... Now no matter who else jumps in or steals code the money will only go to the person or team that I've talked with and is listed in the op..... So far as money split.... I would... during our discussion prior to having someone accept the task... And listing them as accepting the project talk this over and have it all mapped out as who gets what. What I'm expecting... What they're expecting.. The whole nines... Now these type of situations have a tendency of folks saying I'll donate then don't... If that were to be the case I'll donate the full amount myself... To address the closed repo.... I have a github account and have had one for years as well as being an XDA member for ages.... With a very good reputation.... My account on github is open and always will be... The idea here is to have a source for the public not just me...I have no intention on making anything private or closed source...... My only intentions are too get a device tree that we can use to build cm and aosp based roms from source... The idea of the bounty is solely to draw attention and offer a incentive to someone who is interested, willing, and able to provide us with the tree... I hope I've cleared up at least a little of your worries/doubts....And to be perfectly honest ...I hope that you and slayher accept the task... If you need to further discuss anything please feel free to contact me...I have several ways of doing so listed in my profile but I'll go ahead and list my hangouts info... [email protected]
