Downloaded Files Auto Deleting - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Within 24 hours of downloading a file it is deleted from my Download Folder.
I have tried every type of file and they keep being deleted from the Download Folder.
Anybody know why this happens and is there a way to turn this off?
Thanks

I take it you're on stock ROM? I used it for all of an hour before I went into flashaholic mode, so I'm not too sure.
I do know the stock ROM has a built in file manager though. Could you try moving your downloaded files into different folders? I know it's not really a fix, but it might be a convenient work around... And it'll promote keeping a clean file system for various types of files you download.

I am rooted but on the stock Odex base but use Solid Explorer as my File Manager.
As far as work around goes I have to move the files out of the Download Folder otherwise they are deleted.

like sprint zone, sprint tv, sprint football , and sprint navigation
because the google nav doesn't always work so well, and thinkfree office.

There are a couple ways to do it. If you haven't flashed the new ROM yet, you can open up the Stock ROM with WinRar or 7zip and extract the apk files for the Sprint apps to your computer somewhere. Then open up the zip file of the ROM you wish to flash(with WinRar or 7-zip again), and insert them into the system/app folder. Then flash the ROM to your phone and your good to go. I do this every time I flash a new ROM because I play Asphalt 5 and it's not included in any of the ROMs.
If you're already running the ROM of your choice, then you will have to use adb to push the files to the system/app folder or use something like Root Explorer to copy and paste them there.
i am running a rom already... but i have no problem reverting back to stock... i cant find all the apks. so basically , unzip the rom ... put the apks in the system folder then creat another zip
Easiest way would be to find a ROM Dev who has removed Sprint apps and provides them in a folder.
EDIT: I removed the link i posted. In the Devs post he had a folder labled as "Sprint Apps", but it actually takes you to a donwload for his ROM. If you can find the apks in a folder, back up your current set up, flash Epic Experience or one of those ROMS that places the removed apps in a folder on your SD, then restore back to your previous rom and set up. The removed apps folder will still be on your SD Card. You can then follow the below:
Download an app like ES File Explorer or Astro File Manager, open app, find and open, find the folder where the apps are stored, and push the apps. Done.
Text Football to 7777 and sprint will send you a link to the newest football app. For the other apps just get them from the thread here with all the stock apps hosted.
If you have a custom rom the football app may not update automatically and thus not work so you need to get the newest one. Its easy and sprint wont spam you after you send that text.

[Q] Auto-Rotate no longer works

I am on 4.4.2, rooted, goldeneye26 rom.
I am an idiot, I backed up everything with TB, but before I got around to copying it to my computer, I formated my sdcard because it was having issues
I removed some bloatware and now my phone does not rotate anymore. The issue seems to be tied to the samsung hub being removed
I found this thread, but for a different device, I tried the idea mentioned, getting a file from the rom's zip and moving it to the device, but it did not work for me. ( I was able to move it by getting write permission )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644293
There is a post later on in there that has a download to a zip file...the zip file contains a library file like in the first link, but also has a META-INF folder with a couple files, I could not find this folder on my phone, could this be something I clash with safestrap since it is a zip?

No one? Figure I'll at least try one bump in the hopes that someone who might have an idea might see it.

The META-inf will not be on your phone. In it is what tells the zip file what to do. It is flashable on your phone but I don't know of it will work or not.

It did not work, guess I'll look into manual rotation options, hopefully I can find something. Don't feel like reflashing my rom
I had the same problem before and goldeneye used to have a rotation fix in the add ons section that fixed it I still have the zip on my phone if you need it.

[Q] Calendar Storage Deleted

I got cocky and screwed up.
I deleted calendar storage via TiBU instead of freezing first. I assumed that since it had the green icon instead of the blue one that it was specific to Sammy's calendar app.
I believe that I am in need of the SecCalendarProvider.apk and SecCalendarProvider.odex files from an S4 running 4.4.2. I am on an S4 active but I would assume that these files are the same on the S4 and S4A.
Can someone please share those files from their device?
Many thanks in advance.

Just download the rom you are currently on and extract them yourself.

Thanks Lenny, I'm on stock but I'll see if I can figure out a way to do that.
In the mean time a copy of the necessary files would probably save me a lot of effort.
Thanks.
Still No Luck
I found the stock rom on xda, but have been unable to extract the files. After churning away for about 30 minutes ext4 unpacker will crash. If someone could please post the files I would be very appreciative. It'll save me the hour long trip to BB to get flashed.

[Share] Fully Working AOSP, KK Gallery App for Lollipop

Hey, folks!!
Most of us moved to Lollipop and keep seeing many bugs and some of the Apps missing like for eg. Gallery.
Searches end me with Gallery Apps which weren't fully working. Desperated and frustrated me, finally did find one working app and thought of sharing it with others who would really be interested.
You can flash the App via Custom Recovery or can do it manually by moving the desired folder using a file manager, like Total Commander (this is what am using). Many are available based on your interest. Remember to extract the zip and move the folders to another location and then place in the respective places.
Editing Images is possible with this App if you correctly place the lib file at /system/lib
I myself have tried only the KK Gallery on N4 & N5 which is working flawlessly
http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/get-back-gallery-app-any-nexus-device-running-lollipop-0158858/
PS: If this is outta XDA Rules then Mods can remove the thread.
Folks, am just sharing so everyone can make use of what is required.
I want to use the motorola gallery. It looks nice. But what lib file should I place in /system/lib? It isn't in the flashable zip...

Motorola Gallery may not have the lib file. Haven't checked it but did the KK Gallery. Editing is supported only in KK Gallery according to the post
So I tried the flashablr zip, but after installinh nothing changed? No gallery app popped up. I looked in the /system/app/ folder and I found the .apk l. Do you know how I can fix this?

Which one did you try? Have checked KK Gallery on N4 & N5 and its working without any flaws. On N4, used the Flashable zip and on N5, i installed manually (both running Lollipo 5.0.1)

I tried to manually install the motorola gallery (Grabbed it from apkmirror.com). I try to copy it to either /system/app and /system/priv-app/ but with both folder I get a "copy failed" message...

Yes I am on stock 5.0.1. Rooted it and installed TWRP. Tried that zip and several others but none of them worked. Also created a flashable zip myself. But that didnt work either...
By flashing it, the app comes in the /system/app folder but doen't appaer in the app drawer and trying to copy it manually ends up in an error (see attachments).
I guess I will be re-flashing factory images and see if it works after that.

Dude, why don't you try installing it? I tried the KK Gallery as such (open & install) and it works well

Can't install the Stock Music Player?

I miss the Samsung Stock Music Player, but my phone can't seem to install it. After installing AllianceRom v5.0, I didn't install any of the samsung or google apps, cause I was just going to install certain apps afterwards. However, I found that I can't install the music player no matter what. I've downloaded different versions (I mainly want the KitKat one because of the dark background), but every time I try install it, it says, "App not installed". I've looked for solutions and I can't find anything. I've tried putting it in the system folder and installing it there but still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Android Version 4.4.2
AllianceROM v5.0
Kernel: ktoonsez #1 3.4
Model Number: SM-G900T (T-Mobile Version)

Just leave it in the /system/app folder and set its permissions identical to the other apk files in the folder which should be rw-r--r-- and reboot, you dont install system apps the normal way that you are trying tou have to put them in the system apps folder.

Quick question though, I installed the kitkat version, but yet...my music player is still white and bright? Would you happen to know how to solve this? I'm afraid to install any other versions of the music player because I don't want to brick my phone. For example, I found a "dark s5 music player" that is for the S4 mini, and I don't know if it'll work. But it comes in a zip folder, and in it, it has 2 folders:
system
META-INF
In the system folder it has: 5 folders named: framework, priv-app, lib, etc, and app (in the app folder is the SamsungMusic_20.apk)
and in the META-INF folder: MANIFEST.MF, CERT.SF, CERT.RSA, and a com folder.
Now I don't know if just installing the SamsungMusic_20.apk will be enough to have the dark background or if I have to install the whole thing with the folders? (Which I don't know how...I think I'd have to go to philz-recovery and install the zip from there once I delete the current Samsung Music player?)
Thanks for the help again mate!

That is indeed a flashable zip. I'd check throughout the entire zip and see what files its adding, if its messibg with anything in framwwork or etc i'd maybe stay away from it seeing as its fron another device, even if its not theres still no guarantee it'll work since it is for the s4. I personally never used the stock music player so i cant be of too much help, it's probably best at this point for someone else to look at this.

Ah I see How do I know when it's flashable or not? When it has more files than just the basic apk? And well it does has a framework folder and an etc folder so I'll stay away from it like you say. I usually ask a lot of questions, but usually I get no reply on this forum lol :/ But thanks so much for the help

No no look inside those folders, they could have been included but unused. Ususally its made quite obvious its flashable wherever you download it from, of it doesnt say though in the com folser if you go in and just open the meta-inf folder and keep opening the folder, com/google/android and you should see an updater-script and updater-binary file, those are scripts so that it knows what to do with the files provided in the zip.
