[Q] Does no one else get bothered by all the icons left by Live Wallpapers? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are some nice enough developers to include a option to hide an icon from a Live Wallpaper settings. But that's only with about 20% of them. The rest are just creating a mess there. I have a lot of these Live Wallpapers, I often like to change the looks of my home screen.
It has become really hard to find apps, well you either have to slowly browse through them all to find what you have installed, or remember the names of the apps. I think Google should give users an option to hide and manage hidden apps. Or is there already a way? (without rooting)

You can hide apps by going to settings, apps and selecting the app you desire and press disable. Those that are disabled won't appear on your app menu. This feature is on stock ROM or not.

I'm on android 4.4.2 and there is no such option. And wouldn't that disable the app altogether from usage?

Application menu

I was just wondering if any of y'all know how to remove some apps icons from the app menu? For instance better keyboard or some live wallpapers I've installed. I just wanna remove things that you can access from the settings. Thanks for your time.

I'm running LP (not sure if TW has this feature) and if you hit the
setting button > preferences > general settings> Hidden Apps > Choose the apps you want and hide them. I hid a lot it really comes in handy like swype tips.
I don't have launcher pro (which I'm assuming LP is) I'm using the default Touchwiz.

Touchwiz is a slow, uncustomizable, piece of junk. Use lp or adw

Though I'm a fan of anderwebs, I find launcher pro to be a better product. It comes with its own widgets and is very smooth. You can also hide apps in your app drawer.
Not sent from my Vibrant using XDA App 'cause I returned it.
I also use LaucherPro but I will also actually answer your quesiton.
Go into the App List and press
Menu>View Type>Cutomizable grid
Then press
Menu>Edit
You'll see little red minus signs on icons that can be removed. When you've gotten rid of the ones you don't want, just hit Menu>Save and you're all set. Of course, this means that you'll have to move the icons of new apps if you like the alphabetical list.

[Q] Hide Apps in App Drawer?

Okay, so I know this has been asked before, I've been searching XDA and googling and have found some threads on the topic, but most of them are old and unresolved. So I'm reaching out to see if maybe there's a new development that I haven't been able to find.
Is there any known way to HIDE apps from the app drawer of a stock launcher? I know that Launcher Plus Pro and some other home replacements have this feature built in, but I'm using Virtuous Unity and am really happy with Sense 3.0 at the moment.
It seems like such a basic function, I can't believe there's a) no native feature to do this; and more surprisingly b) there's no 3rd party app that will do this?
I've found some apps that 'hide' your drawer apps (i.e. Hide It Pro) but this not only hides the app from the drawer, but makes it so you can only launch the hidden app from within the app that's hiding it (meaning you have to go into Hide It Pro to launch the hidden app).
I'm using wave launcher and swipepad for my most used apps and games, and would ideally like to remove these apps from the app drawer so they're not cluttering it up, but STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE APPS from the alternate launcher/shortcuts. With Hide It Pro I was able to remove the apps from the app drawer, but was then unable to launch that app from wave launcher for example.
My reasoning for wanting to do this is not confidentiality/privacy, but rather just to clean up my drawer/app system. Ideally I want my most used apps to be accessed via the secondary launchers (wave and swipepad) and just have the other, less-used apps in the app drawer. Is this possible?
at the moment, I dont think its possible...but I may be wrong. the best current solution would be to use a diff launcher, but yeah it sucks because all the sense widgets would disappear when trying to add them to homescreens (but the apps still work fine). keep us updated if you find a solution, I would like to know as well
Unfortunately I did not find a way to do it too. I am using Go Launcher EX. It can hide apps from the drawer, and still you can launch them from the home screen or elsewhere.
Thanks for the replies. Yeah from my research it doesn't really seem possible. It seems like it should be a pretty basic function but oh well. Thanks anyway guys.

Thanks for that, I came across that during my research. Seems cool and if it replaced the default app drawer I'd be all over it. But I don't want a homescreen icon as my app drawer. But thanks for the suggestion!!

Nexus 7 Missing App Icons

I have had my Nexus for about a month now maybe a little bit more. I have one problem I don't have pre installed app icons like contacts or camera, I know they are installed because I can add the contacts widgets, and I got the Nexus 7 camera launcher app. There is also other apps I have installed that I can't see the icons, and a couple I have un installed that the icons are still there. I am running stock but I am rooted

Your contacts are the 'People' app. Make sure you are looking at 'Apps' in the app drawer. 'Widgets' is another category. If you go to Settings > Apps > All, do you see the apps you think should be there? As to uninstalling, simply removing the shortcut from a screen does not uninstall. You can long-press a shortcut on a screen and choose 'Uninstall'.
I did not realize the name was changed, weird. They are on that list. I have tried reinstalling to no luck.

In the file list under Settings > Apps > All, touch one of the non-displaying apps and Force stop (if running), Clear Data, Cache, and Defaults (if active). Restart and check the app drawer again. Also, are you using a replacement launcher like Nova or Go? They may have custom settings for the app drawer to hide apps.

Missing apps

Has anyone noticed that some of your paid apps are missing from the app drawer? The only way I can find some of them is to go into the Play Store and search for the app and open it that way. It shows as being installed but doesn't show in the app drawer. They aren't disabled and hidden because of that. I noticed this problem both before and after rooting. I'm still using the stock launcher though. Perhaps they would show up in Nova Prime?

I finally got my apps to appear. In the app drawer hit the menu button. Click on Hide/Show apps. Hide the app that is hidden already but not shown being hidden. Go to the home screen and then back into the app drawer and Hide/Show apps. Uncheck the hidden apps and they'll magically appear in your app drawer.

It was there before but seems to have vanished now.
If it does not work to go to the app drawer and press menu, then I would suggest a aftermarket launcher. That's the best I cam some up with, I don't own a Note 3.

ive been wondering the same thing. I cant seem to figure it out either
Hey Guys,
On the Note 3 there has been a bit of a change:
• Hide applications (replaced with disable applications, which is now combined with uninstall applications as an option)
