Samsung Link and Remote Tracking Controls - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys. im expericing some issues with almost every kitchen rom around. Im from Venezuela so samsung link tracking is available for my country. so after trying a couple roms around i decided to flash the original stock 4.3 from russia SER . Wich is very cool and smooth. But i consider that it has too many sammy useless stuff (in my opinion) pre-installed.
I flashed the Desamsungnizer script 4.1 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507931
Wich deleted almost every single samsung app in my stock rom. So i've got more internal memory and some faster touch wizz sense.
so, because im a samsung link user i installed from the play store the app (samsung link all share play) . . but it never logs in always shows up a message saying "cannot autenticate with your samsung account please try later or delete ur samsung account and try again" some thing like that.
So i just copied the allshareplay.apk from my S3 to the system/app folder and finally samsung link worked flawessly.
BUT i cannot track my phone from the Find my mobile web app because it never shows as Online.
I beleave there is some file wich the samsungnizer deleted that controls the gps tracking or something. tried tracking my phone from AVG website and i got no results. Seems like my phone is not connecting at all with any tracking app.
So. has any of you guys any idea about wich could be the file that controls that tracking functionality?

Missing Market Apps

Is anyone else unable to get certain apps from the Android Market on their Vibrant?
Search www dot cyrket dot com for anifree (the author of a Live wall paper I want). See all the apps/wallpapers? Now take your Vibrant to the market and search for the same thing (anifree). You'll find their Agenda and their Funny Pic apps. Not a single wall paper.
Shooting the barcode in Google Goggles or Barcode Scanner returns the same result. App not found.
Anyone have any advice?
I have experienced this issue as well, not sure how to fix it or what it's caused by. Let me guess your looking for the koi pond wallpaper? In the theme section there's a thread titled live wallpapers, and you'll find it in there.

I'm having this issue with my new vibrant also. My phone is rooted and I thought that might have something to do with it, but I checked on a family member's new vibrant and the anipet live wallpapers also don't show for them with a market search or using the qr code on cryket. I installed the koi wallpaper on my phone from the live wallpapers thread, and the atrackdog app showed it has an update available, but it's link can't access the app from the market either. There were a few other live wallpapers I've been unable to access thru the market or cryket, starfield and panoplanet are a couple that come to mind.
I'm unable to some apps in the market either... I haven't rooted or anything yet. Anyone figure out how to fix this phone so that we can see all apps in the market?
Apparently there are different versions of the market, I only got mine to work after applying metamorphs that had the adverse effect of changing the version I had.

What happens is this, as I've read from another thread: when a company launches a new phone, they tell google about it. Google then updates the market so that if your phone's specs (what version of android it is running, mainly) are capable of running the app you're trying to find, it shows it to you. If Google knows your phone can't run it, it won't let you see the app in the market to avoid you downloading something that you cannot run.
Sometimes Google updates their market database quickly, or sometimes it takes them a long time.... like it apparently is taking for the Vibrant. So it currently doesn't know that the Vibrant is an Eclair 2.1 phone, which supports live wallpapers (some phones running 2.1 don't). It thinks the Vibrant can't use them, so it blocks them.
If there are apps you want, I would suggest getting the APK from a reliable source elsewhere and installing it. For example, last I checked Angry Birds wasn't available on the market, but someone posted a link so that you may download it from elsewhere.
It is kind of strange though because some live wallpapers do show up, and some don't. Apparently though it is all up to Google. There might be a way to modify the identity of your phone to the market so it thinks it is one of the phones that is currently recognized as a phone that can run anything, but I don't know of it, I'm new to the whole mod/root scene.
The application manifest file for an android app can specify all of the supported hardware combinations.
Generally android will refuse to load an app if it can't find a hardware configuration that matches the device.
For example: if all of the configurations listed in the applications manifest file require a d-pad, android will refuse to install it on any device lacking that feature.

[Q] Issues downloading apps from marketplace after firmware upgrade

HI all, this past weekend Kies popped up with a notification that there was a firmware upgrade for my Galaxy S. I immediately downloaded and installed it, I guess a newbie mistake. When completed I found that all my apps vanished and my settings went back to out of the box state. Though annoying I spent much of Saturday morning trying to get my phone back to where I had it before the update. The issue now though is that when I log into the market I find I am unable to download certain apps, I get to the install button on the phone then I get an error message "file not found". This is troublesome as there are a few apps that I had before the upgrade that I can no longer install, including paid apps, (examples Pandora, Pure Calendar) nor am I able to install certain new apps. I read that the market will no longer display protected content after this upgrade. I spoke to Samsung who told me to take the phone back to the Bell store. Bell told me to call Samsung as it is a firmware issue
Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know of a solution to the problem.
Thank you

Some people suffered market problems after upgrading to the UK-released JM1 last week. Apparently Samsung has to notify Google that they released an official update, so that Google allows access to paid and copy protected apps for that firmware. It took a couple of days for everyone to see everything over here. Maybe you just have to wait a bit (?)
Same happened here in Australia.. It was fixed the next day. I called Samsung to complain about it (when it was still happening) and was told that there was nothing they could do (which seemed like rubbish to me)..
If you are updating to a unsupported (beta) fw, make sure you install a rom or replace your build.prop file with a supported fw file.
Hi my phone is a month old now, everything is stock..no mods so far..I am having multiple problems with my phone.
- I cannot download anything from Market..it starts download and then 'download unsuccessful'
- FM radio never worked for me, not even after manually tuning it.
- I am not able to use wifi..it just says 'obtaining address...'
I did a factory reset yesterday and after that I was able to download 2~3 apps from Market..but today I am facing the same issue again.
Please help me guys..
Thanks guys for the help, it turns out that the issue was exactly what you said, but maybe more to the point, my own impatience.
Thanks again

I am on the Captivate running the beta I897UCJH2 firmware. I have market issue with some apps (e.g., Asphalt 5 HD, Fandango, and G4Tv) not showing up. I tried your method of copying over the build.prop file from the official I897UCJF6 firmware release. Even rebooted after doing that. The missing apps never showed up, so I reverted back to the JH2 build.prop file. Any other suggestions to fix my issue?
P.S. - Spoke too soon. This does work. Someone suggested clearing Market cache, followed by reboot, and then installing and reinstalling a couple of apps. And that did the trick.
from what i can gather it seems to be related to a location issue, as in certain apps will not show up for some countries and other apps will, etc.
so if you load firmwares from different geographic location the market is filtering what it allows/not allows bassed on the rom firmware location.
it'll be great if we can remove that filter and have it show everything online.
the work around that i do is find and download the apps via browser, instead of market
also avoid the barcode scanner downloads, which just launches the market app

Are you saying there a site where I can get the all the apks for these missing apps downloaded by bypassing the market? I have never run across it so far. Every one of the solutions so far has the phone launching the market app at some point, which fails, as the apps are not listed or downloadable there. The apps I am talking about are all free and should be legally able to be sideloaded, but how?

Samsung Link

Does anyone know how I can put Samsung Link on my Galaxy S5? All Galaxy models have had it (it was once called Allshare), but this app is one of the main reasons why I've stuck with Samsung products. Not only for the auto backup to my desktop PC whenever I snap a picture or record a video (I can still set that up through just about any cloud service, but it still requires the extra step of downloading it onto my PC), but I use it extensively when I'm traveling. If I need a file or document, porn, etc from one of my PCs at home, Samsung Link allows me to access all of my registered devices remotely and download the file no matter where I am. It also allows me to stream video to any of my Samsung TVs in the house. I know I can do this through other apps, but Samsung Link allowed me to do all of these. This is probably the only app from Samsung that I've used on a daily basis since owning my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. AT&T is my service provider, and I bet they took this app off their phones before loading it up with their stuff.

On my T-Mo version Samsung Link Platform, the prerequisite to run Link, has been pre-installed, I doubt ATT would mess with Samsung's core apps.
See if this works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.pcw
I get not compatible on this device. . I also tried installing the apk from some random site, and I keep getting link fcs
Anyone help with this?
Am not seeing this too. Why?
Just an FYI, I installed the omega rom and seems they have the framework already, and link works fine now

[Q] iPhone Noob fixing AT&T Galaxy S4

Hi everyone, my stepdad bought ATT Galaxy S4 to replace his S2 and its a total disaster, its all jittery, has a ton of bloatware, now he has caught some malware virus that no matter what redirects from every browser he installed to some russian storage.ru from there to several other locations and then some spam advertisement.
What I did so far.
I rooted the phone, found hosts file and put thousands of links in there including the ones that were doing the redirecting, but that hasn't worked, it worked for a few hours but then it started redirecting somewhere else and new addresses aren't being blocked, even if they are blocked the virus is still messing up the browsing experience by trying to redirect.
What are my next actions?
I figured the whole phone is now buggered and I need some easy for noob solutions, first of all I need easy 5-6 steps I have to follow in order not to end up with a bricked phone. like 1. backup. 2. new kernel etc etc with every step please suggest a software to do those things with. I would prefer to do a FULL 100% backup that would include the EFC folder with the IMEI, cuz from when I had galaxy s2 i bricked it hard.
For S3 I had this amazing PC backup that had a CMD type window that backed up my S3 100% before I did my modding to it. I cannot seem to find it now, and I am not going to backup on the phone, its stupid, i have a PC and would prefer to utilize it as much as possible.
Second thing, I need a suggestion for a good ROM, a good rom in a way that it will
-HAVE BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE LINK CAR SUPPORT, bluetooth music in car - very important
-LTE support
-be as close to original ROM as possible
-no bloatware
-better managed battery
he doesnt care about crazy customizations keyboards etc.
please be understandable and do not go into crazy details, just give me basic course of actions and i will go from there, right now im looking with my eyes wide opened at a wast amounts of new information that is too much to read
please help dont ignore
I'd flash the nb1 tar file in Odin and start all over again. See this,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53758227
Then tell your dad to lay off the porn sites so he doesn't get a virus again.

Stock ROM update for US version (efox-shop)

I would like to bring attention to every owner with the US version to this thread:
I would strongly recommend to check this video with two ROM available.
Most importantly these ROMs are eliminating the bloatware software from the original one.
Even with the first update the phone is living up to your expectation.
Search youtube for
"LeEco Letv Le1 Pro X800 (US version/Review & Unboxing) Best value for money? // by s7yler"
Unfortunately I am a passive reader of XDA, so I am not allowed to post links directly (only after 10 posts)
EDIT on 14/07/2016:
The malware gmail app started after one week it's usual auto-install stuff. So switched to CUOCO92-5.5.014S Rom
Yes but does this rom contain the malware issues the stock ones have? Reports on the web suggest that it does.
I am using the first update for more than a week without having any issues. (The second one was not detecting my SIM and endlessly searched for it, so I reverted it back to the first one).
I am using TrustGo and Anti Adaware still the previous annoying auto-installed software bloatware did not show up
I bought a US/EU spec Le 1 Pro from Efox-shop a couple of weeks ago and it came with malware and dodgy Google apps installed. I had to Root to remove them so I'd be wary of any Efox roms.

Can I ask did you remove all Google apps including Google store ? I removed all except the Google store. I understood the malware was in a hacked YouTube app, are you aware of any other issues with the installed software, eg apart from Google apps.
Thanks in advance.
I removed all the pre installed Google apps except for the Play Store, the pre installed Calculator app (which was requesting network access), File Manager, Ant Keyboard (which was being flagged as malware) and the stock messaging app. I'll probably remove the stock dialer, contacts and email apps too and install some trustworthy apps but to be honest I'm not sure how safe my data is with this phone so I'm not using it at the moment.
After removing and reinstalling the Google apps the phone runs quicker and the battery life is slightly better, YouTube behaves perfectly too.
It's a very nice phone but I just don't trust it yet.

Thanks, I had noticed the calculator app, I froze it. I'll dump it.
I have to say I agree, I just don't trust the rom, no matter what I remove.
