Petition for Samsung to release 4.2.2 update OR Exynos 4 Sources - Galaxy S II General

Hello!
I've started the petition "SAMSUNG Galaxy S2 Android 4.2.2 UPDATE (OR) EXYNOS 4 SOURCES: Please release an update to Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy S2 (OR) Alternatively a release of Exynos 4 Sources will allow developers to take over." and need your help to get it off the ground.
Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here's the link:
Add " h t t p : / / " and then visit the below link:
Code:
change.org/petitions/samsung-galaxy-s2-android-4-2-2-update-or-exynos-4-sources-please-release-an-update-to-android-4-2-2-for-the-galaxy-s2-or-alternatively-a-release-of-exynos-4-sources-will-allow-developers-to-take-over
Here's why it's important:
The Samsung Galaxy S2 was a great device and has received 2 updates: IceCreamSandwich (4.0 to 4.0.4) and JellyBean (4.1). Samsung halted the JellyBean update at 4.1 and did not proceed to release 4.2 or 4.3. We Samsung Galaxy S2 users want an incremental update to atleast 4.2.2, as the S2 Plus (S2's sister device) has received the update. The S2 Plus is relatively similar to the S2 (except CPU and GPU), so an HDPI screensize is not an excuse for not releasing an update. If Samsung and/or its Developers are not benefitting from the development of an update to the S2, why not release Exynos 4 Sources and allow the third-party developer community to take over?
Please sign this petition if you are interested in seeing some development take place for this magnificent device.
Note:- This Petition applies to the following devices:
Samsung Galaxy S 2 (International) GT-I9100
Samsung Galaxy Note 1 (International) GT-N7000
Thanks!
Ryan Ceferitti

Your initiative its a good start but this doesnt mean that samsung will hear 2-3 voices whispering "update s2" we need a lot of people to sign but even that its probability of update is very low,by low i mean 0.001% , but, if we can try , why not?...anyway s2 is old , thats the true reason why sammy wont update it
I see that it is your first post here , you are a new s2 owner/xda user?

sorry, this might be a bit out of topic,
but I own sgs 2 and i haven't tried the custom rom, although it is already rooted.
the reason i haven't tried it was because in every room especially the new os i.e. 4.2.2 > always has some basic function that doesn't work
such as bluetooth, GPS/Wifi or even restart when changing from landscape to portrait, etc. (CMIIW)
so if the release of the exynos source would ensure full functionality of custom rom then i'll vote on it.
in the mean time is there any other branded phone that offer custom room with working function?

I have been using a custom ever since I got the phone and 4.2.2 and 4.3.1 are perfectly stable for me and has been for awhile now... no such problems as you mentioned.

These threads are just as amusing as the noobs who post 'OMGZ ! Such & such rom is on the S3 I want someone to port it to the S2 now !' threads in Q&A.
Edit - Also, this thread is superfluous given the long running thread re: this issue here (with petitions & other nonsense).

[LIST][ROMS]Galaxy Note 10.1 all ROMS list/links

Hi,
I want to take some time to put together a list of all Galaxy Note 10.1 ROMS with a general description and a link to the initial post on XDA, but before I can do that i need some feedback from your side, is this OK with the developers to have a list of all ROMS together, is this OK with XDA?
If i get the OK, i will keep 2 post below, one with the status of the updates (Waiting feedback / Updating / Finalized until date) and i would ask of the devs that have updates for their ROMS and have posted new Roms to send me an IM just so i can make sure i cover everything.
I would ask that you do not request ETA's because i have a day time job, but I'm every day on XDA so i will do my best to keep it up to date.
Have a great day,
Daniel

http://www.xda-developers.com/android/android-4-4-1-source-code-released-to-the-aosp/
Here i got to know tht google has released 4.4.1 source code for aosp roms and also now cm 11 nightlies for nexus 4 and 7 users,,wt do you think guys will we have our devs working on 11 after stabilized 10.2???will we ever see 4.4???though Samsung doesn't care in giving updates like Google does we smehw managed to get 4.3 bootable because of k2wl and nw XENON92 and kingbabasula are working to nake it stable along with k2wl,,and also i found a lil sources right here revealing the nomination of Samsung galaxy grand i9082 for 4.4 officially by samsung and also google says it is possible for 4.4 to run on mid range devices also on some low end phones because of its sleekness!!!all im looking for is a CONFIRMATION or your opinions WILL WE??? :what:

With the eventual release of Grand 2 sometime soon, I don't think Samsung will deliver 4.4 on our device.
And the devs has not yet managed to stabilize CM 10.2, let alone CM 11. It might take months from now, be patient.
If you can't, you probably should've bought a Nexus device.

It's not about which device get released first, but it's about its market target and the product line it is included in. S and Note lines get the updates first because those are Samsung flagships and they're released worldwide. Grand is a midrange device and is specifically targeted where dual sim demand is high (India, China, SE Asia, etc) not the U.S. and Europe. That's why Grand doesn't get the attention they get, and our forums is placed in "Legacy & Low Activity Devices" section.

True yet we got 4.2.2 official before note 2 or s series got 4.3,,though being a mid range device it mde a lot of sales records here in india overall i agree with you note and s series are the flagships even phones like grand and mega should also be included with regard to the updates thats ma own opinion because as google doesn’t discriminate in the same way Samsung shouldn't and i also read smewr bout grand to end its update cycle to 4.2.2 hopefully that must be false if thrs sme base far 4.3 cm 11 can be developed!!!

I think TouchWiz is to blame for the lack of updates to midrange devices... It takes simply too much time and resources for Samsung to make Touchwiz work on newer Android versions and they see it not worth the time and money to update midranges.
The day Samsung decides to stop updating our device is the day we rely to rom devs. The beauty of Android. :good:
No chance of official 4.4, even if Samsung decides to give us 4.4 it will not be before the next android version. Legacy and low level device doesnt mean we can't have a stable cm11 or cm10.2. We have the developers working on 10.2 and I would applaud their efforts for fixing almost everything. For now our device is dependent on pawitp and lets hope he removes some time for fixing RIL of cm 10.2. Once 10.2 is sorted we can have a cm11 compiled by k2wl. One thing I have noticed is that cm10.2 is running into the same problems as 10.1. Like ril and microphone. I'm guessing cm10.2 devs have had a look at pawitp's patches for the respective problems. Until then keep you're fingers crossed and don't loose hope.:good:

I think they have already made a look on them because kingbabasula had shared dual sim soutces released on cms github so its pretty close smewr that they hve looked on the patches as slimbean and resurrection remix hve been worked over cyanogenmod 10.1's sources provided by pawitp but you never know lets wait and watch if k2wl replies and i only felt we might get 4.4 because i read google has reportedly said it can work flawlessly even on low end devices wid 2 or 300mb ram capacity because of its sleekness then why not on grand lets just wait i have heck lot of hopes from XENON92 hes my fav developer:beer::thumbup:

s6 Themed Kitkat Based Rom for s4 gt-i9505

Some of us are not into lollipop firmwares... I hope sir Albe95 will also create a s6 themed rom based on kitkat for s4 gt-i9505. Currently i'm using his albe95 3.0 which is based in note 4.. i hope sir albe95 will grant my wish and i'd be very thankfull for that.. not just myself but also others who still uses kikat firmwares..
I understand there are more than a few people who don't like the changes Android 5.0 brought to the table, but to expect developers to cater to a minority of a minority of the Android userbase is nothing more than wishful thinking. Why should Albe or any developer for that matter develop for an old version of Android? That would be like asking AntaresOne to continue support of CM11 after he released CM12. It's not going to happen.
You might as well upgrade now and get it over with, because your next device will have at least Android 5.x in it anyway. Holding off only delays the inevitable.
Well.. it's upon him.. there is no problem with that.. if he can create then i could be thankful.. if not then ok.. it's just fine... i can still use his other roms.. or specifically the albe 3.0 note4 based rom.. im not forcing him to do that it is just my opinion.
What you posted was a request, not an opinion. Even your statement that "some of us don't like Lollipop," while true, isn't an opinion. An opinion would be "Android 5.0.1 is bad because the white in Material Design hurts my eyes."
Your statement that "it's upon him" smacks of disappointment because he won't cater to you. But continue using Android 4.x while the rest of us go on to Marshmallow. You'll simply be left behind in the dust, like the 2015 Moto E.

A question about Cyanogenmod on S3 Neo

This may be a stupid question, but I'm a new guy around here and I have something I'd like to know:
Why is every? Cyanogenmod version for Galaxy S3 Neo Unofficial ? Is it because the Cyanogenmod team is not making them or because it has some things unstable or something like that?
P.S: Sorry if you see some language mistakes, English isn't my main language and I'm trying my best
Because cyanogenmod team is not making them for galaxy s3 neo

Thank you very much for the response
To be official it must meet some requirements like for instance to have all functions that are orginaly represent on & working to have a good developer as a maintainer behind it (as CM don't actually provide you anything nor they culd). When all request are met then request can be failed for making it official.
We will probably be able to do that in some time from now as Nikola did a second restart of the work on kernel(as we were not satisfied), we managed to identify BMC NFC chip & driver for it so hopefully we will have it working. That is if we menage to do it all right & if he wants to be maintainer.

Hi,
You can post that video in this topic.
Yes, I am still active on the S2 i9100 (if you check the link, you'll see that I completed SailfishOs 4.4.0.72 build (the latest so far) in October 2022.
As far as I've seen there is significant difference between the i9100 and i9105/P (Exynos vs Broadcom) so my build surely won't work on the i9505/P.
Because don't have that i9505, I cannot build sfos for it. Sorry.
