1 invite up for free - Glass General

I was lucky enough to get my invite for free a month ago and now want to return the wealth. My terms are pretty simple:
1. Do not sell the invite for profit
2. Do not sell Google Glass for profit for at least 3 months
3. When you receive your set of invites, give them all away like I am
This is all under the honor code, I know, but I have faith in our kind. This is already an expensive "toy", making people spend more on it is just ridiculous.
Also, you must be ready to purchase as you only have 7 days from me sending the invite to purchase it. I dont want this to go to waste.

Rooted G1 for sale. 1 week old. Mint cond. $400

Well, as much as I love the handset itself I'm just not computer savvy enough to make Android do what I want it to. So I thought I'd offer it up here to try and save some money for listing fees before putting it on eBay. As of today I've had it for 1 week. Absolutely no scratches or damage and still has factory plastic cover on the screen. It's currently running modded RC30 v 1.31 with Carbon Glow theme. Comes with original box, instructions, 2 Gb micro SD card, and everything that came from the factory. My price is firm @ $400 USD SHIPPED. Will ship anywhere worldwide *except Africa*. I generally use USPS Priority Mail with insurance. I requested the SIM unlock code from T-Mo about 3 days ago so I expect that to show up any day now. Please reply via PM or email me at [email protected]. Thanks for looking.
*pics were taken several days ago prior to installing new theme*

You might want to lower your price. I bought one off CL almost new with a extra battery, case, box etc for $225. They seem to go for under $300 new.
I'm very well aware of what they're going for on craigslist. My ad is aimed more for those overseas that don't have such easy access to them.
**Mods feel free to lock this thread. I'd prefer private contact if any**
you can get it from ebay, worldwide shipping for less...

Stop giving the guy hell on his price. Try to order an ADP1 and set the shipping to Germany and see what happens to the price - It goes over 750USD. Let the free market determine the price.

Considering that the OP has firmly set his price, aren't those two statements contradictory? (Note, I don't really mind OP's choice of pricing, just pointing out this funny logical flaw.)
hummmm
i just got one.....black....1 week old unused unwanted upgrade for £230 of ebay here in the u.k
i wish you all the best with selling your G1
sorry i can't lock the thread...if i close the thread...it will drop of the radar...and nobody will see it
I'm not trying to "cheat" anyone. There's nothing dishonest or misleading about my ad. I know for a fact that with my willingness to ship worldwide I will easily get my asking price if I choose to put it on ebay. I simply thought I'd offer it up here first. Clearly, that was a poor decision on my part.

Considering the tone of some replies..that's exactly what I was hoping for. I'll simply take this as a lesson learned about this community and take my business elsewhere. Then there will be no need for further editorialization about my character or intentions.
Thank you to those of you with cooler heads that chose not to be a **** about it.
Honestly I think the problem is that you are asking full market value for something that is opened and without warranty.
Think about it, why would you buy a stereo from some guy off the street even if he was a friend of a friend, if you could get it for the same price from the company which not only guarantee's it but offers 30 day return policy and a manufactures warranty?
Honestly I have no problem with you selling it here, it isn't against the rules. But I think asking 400 for the phone is steep especially considering this is the market where we know what it is worth and how to find them.
I don't see what I'm doing as being any different than what people are doing with the Iphone 3g. You can get a brand new one with contract for $200 from AT&T. But if you've ever tried to buy one outside of AT&T you'd see that no one's willing to let an immaculate one go for less than $400 or so generally. Add on an unlock and jailbreak and that can take it up much higher still. Is it "cheating" to want to capitalize on supply and demand circumstances? An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If no one here thinks my phone is worth $400..that's fine with me. I know there are others that would gladly pay what I'm asking. Obviously, they just don't frequent this site.
I never said you were cheating I was explaining why I think they are pissed off.
Your iPhone vs G1 complaint is like Apples vs Oranges. They are in no way similar. The iPhone can not be bought unless it has a contract. Of course I would pay more for a non contracted phone, but the G1 is 400 with no contract. Wheter it is unlocked and jailbroken is irrelevant since the iPhone can't be software unlocked only jailbroken.
The only criticism I can give for me personally is that I thought you would have at least given xda members a discount. I mean what is 20-40 dollars gonna hurt?
I agree with you in that someone would pay 400 dollars... but I also believe that if you were really trying to help a developer get one you would be giving us a little discount from what you sell it on ebay. But that is just me.

Want to Sell my Xoom, Am I out of line

So I want to sell my Xoom, I was lame and should have returned it within the 14 days, VZW isnt like Sprint and gives you 30 days (lame). Any way I will either buy a Samsung or a WiFi Xoom, I just do not want to be married to VZW for 2 years (have sprint and dont plan on going anywere anytime soon).
Have it on CL for $550 if someone assumes the contract, comes with case, perfect condition.
Does this sound fair?
Worst case, you can try Gazelle, see what they offer you if you don't get any hits.
The going price on eBay seems to be 700-750 right now
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
With a contract, it is $600 new from vzw with none of the hassle of transfering the contract. You might need to go a touch lower than $550. But, you never know. Some people are stupid and have no idea what it is worth. Example - I sold my ipad a week before the Woom came out for $750. Considering a new one was $829 and newer tablets were literally weeks away, that guy must have been crazy.
If you really want rid of it, I'd try to ebay it for $700ish and eat your Verizon ETF.
Outside of the return period, you're going to take a hit.
Yeah... married to a 2 year contract I'd be hard pressed to shell out over $400 for a used tablet in any condition. I hope you get at least $400-500 for it!
PS: You should put a post in the main marketplace subforum, you will get better responses.
I've had a few people offer 750 off contract for it. Leaves me $400 after ETF and eating tax and activation.
I'll give it a few days, see what happens.
Im not trying to sell it here, was just seeing what everyone thought of my pricing.
Damn Im an idiot for being an early adopter. THought I'd use the data more than I do.

[Q] Website to sell my nexus one

ive seen a website where i can sell and buy android phones from other power android users but i cant remember what the website was. im looking to sell my n1. any ideas what the website is? thank you
http://www.swappa.com
thank you so much
Yeah I get kind of a bad vibe about Swappa. It's very US-centric (which is OK I guess if you live there), and many of their phone specs are incorrect.
Swappa sucks. The target audience is not big enough and the site is not well known... for now anyways, maybe not for the next 5 years.... I listed my Desired HD for 2 weeks with no hits, even paid the extra $10 to be a "featured" listing yada yada.. after 2 weeks with no success, i listed the item on Ebay with buy it now price and was sold in less than 12 hours.
I listed my G1 for sale on swappa. It sold within a couple of days. Unfortunately the guy that bought it could not give me a confirmed mailing address. I tried for days to get him and the guy who runs swappa to understand that I would not ship to an unconfirmed address since the transaction would no longer be covered under paypal seller protection. I have been ripped off in the past where someone paid with a stolen credit card and I was dumb enough to ship to an unconfirmed address. Then the credit card company took the money back from me and I was out 700 bucks and my item. The guy gave me 3 or 4 different addresses over the course of maybe 3 days. It seemed too shady to me so I refunded his money and kept the phone.
For anyone using swappa as a means to sell their old items, beware of this practice. Only ship to an address that is confirmed THROUGH paypal. Otherwise you are running the risk of being ripped off. Both the buyer and the guy at swappa assured me this was his real address. How the website host knows this for sure was beyond me. Whatever, I'm no fool.
Ebay is a much better route for selling!
Craigslist isn't all that bad either for local sales, depending on where you live.
I agree. craigslist and ebay are better. However using swappa seemed like a better target audience to me. Basically the people there know the phone has most likely been rooted. I dunno.
I figure, if you're going to sell to a non hacker, just flash back to total stock using PASSIMG.ZIP and you're good. If your warranty has already expired, the bootloader is of no concern.

I want my $10 feature listing money back from the failed suggestion.
The site said I had 76 views last time I checked, but not one bite. I guess ebay would be the best place.

Opinions needed

I bought my Note pro 12.2 five months ago on the DPP and i hardly ever use it, so i think i will be selling it for the pay off amount plus shipping which will be around $525 total what do you think is the best way to sell it.
I am going to pay it off with the sale money and get it off my account.
This is a Verizon LTE device

Swappa.com I have sold 3 devices and bought 1. Pretty slick site, and xda approved!
Swappa will require the device to be paid off and ready for activation (i.e. clean ESN) before listing. Which you really should do before selling it anywhere. Or at the very least, make sure you note what your plan is, as the buyer won't be able to activate the tablet until you pay it off and remove it from your account. Verizon is rather particular about that.
If that's the case, you may want to coordinate something locally through Craiglist and meet a Verizon store, maybe?
Assuming you can't pay it off first...
Either way, good luck.
Thanks i was thinking local also.

T-Mobile Jump! Cancel

Merry Christmas!
Hey guys, I've been thinking about canceling my Jump! service, I just do not see the benefit beside protecting you device. I just want to see who have it, and why you want to keep it. Or those that do not have it and why you didn't bother signing up.
I have it and my carrier insurance actually dropped 2 dollars a month so I figured, why not? I do like it though. Out allows me to continually get new phones. I tend to get board with a phone to a degree after a year or so. For me it's pretty good. You just have to get over the fact if you keep jumping, you'll never really own a phone. Sort of leasing a phone.
Merry Christmas
I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to switch to a new phone every year, so I thought JUMP! makes sense. The insurance and Lookout Premium is a nice addition.
I been paying into jump for me and my wife since it started. Just upgraded both of us 2 weeks ago to two note 4's. In 6 months Samsung will have new phones with Playstation Now. I saw an aluminum billet cut out of a new Samsung phone, kinda curious to see what the final product looks like and how the Playstation Now runs on it. If I like I will wait for unboxing youtube video and maybe I jump.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA Premium HD
I use mine for insurance purposes only, I end up buying phones every 4 months or so, so basically the upgrading isn't worth doing for me, plus its a waste money to lease a phone and not pay it off imo.
It all depends and it's all in the numbers. It's a number game. If you have it only for insurance, do keep in mind that there's a deductible. For a high end phone like the Note 4, it's like $175 or something. If you're using it to upgrade, make sure your phones not almost paid off or it won't be worth it lol. Or if you're required to put down a big deposit, jump isn't worth it. Do the math. Crunch the numbers...
Well I have the first JUMP package that was released (grandfathered in). I love it because it lets me upgrade every 6 months. I get bored of devices pretty quick, especially with all of the devices that get released. Best thing to ever happen to a carrier.
Sent from a potato.
I also have the first JUMP package. It's pretty great deal.
If u have jump 1 keep it if you have jump 2 get rid of it. Not worth it for 2 if you swap out phones a lot
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Can you please elaborate. I felt the Jump 2 was just an enhanced version of Jump 1 (Jump 2 just allows you to upgrade whenever you want). Jump 1 allows maximum 2 upgrade a year.
I feel the Jump is worth it if you are upgrading your devices every 6 months, based on my rough calculations.

If you are on payment plans you must pay off device by 50% if you wanna jump. With jump 1 it 6 months no matter how much you owe.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Wow, T-Mobile rep explained me Jump 1 way differently, stating that half the device value would still need to be paid, lol. However, from the way you describe it, Jump 1 would have certainly been better in this case. The T-Mo rep also stated that customers can choose between Jump 1 or Jump 2, I call that BS.
Even paying 50% of the device is still worth it (whether you wait one year or 6 months) because every non-Apple device depreciates fast.

They lied to you. You can't choose jump 1 is only for people grandfathered in. Jump 2 just sucks once you had jump 1

I agree. Seems like T-Mobile being a true carrier once again (or were they always; like they give a sh!t).
So, if I was a T-Mobile customer a year ago, and chose Jump 1 then, it would have been worth it.
Once you upgrade with Jump 1, customers are required to continue with Jump 2 or simply remove Jump from their account.
T-Mobile is slowly giving us chills. Lets see what they reveal to us next year; will they stick to their plans for the better? #CoverageMyA$$
I'm really looking forward to a bright future for T-Mobile. Better not be one of those companies that fall bankrupt after a major flop. Do they even have the integrity? Can they sustain their building reputation? Who knows...

This is not true. If this happened to you then some sneaky rep in the store must have switched you. I just upgraded this week. I am still on jump 1. I even called them before I left the store to verify. The ONLY way you lose Jump 1 is by 1) Switching to Jump #2 or 2) Leaving T-Mobile then coming back. Thats it. Also when I log into tmobile it says I can jump NOW. That would not be possible on jump 2
Well, I never said T-Mobile was a good company anyway. Most of their store clerks are unprofessional, arrogant, and ignorant anyway. The other day, a female customer lost all her text messages on the phone as it was erased by the store rep without authorization by her; no backup to be found. T-Mobile should wake up; their Uncarrier move isn't all that great as I once thought. I don't mind the changes between Jump 1 and Jump 2, as I do understand in the corporate world, it all about profits and gain; T-Mobile would have suffered major loss had they adhered to the Jump 1 stands for long.

My phone is my internet. I tether it. To do so and not have an outrageous bill you need two things.
1) Rooted phone
2) Unlimited data
So until another company offers unlimited data? They are the best around imo. They are also the only company I can go from the US to London on and still use my phone. Changing nothing. They are actually one of the best carriers. But if you want to keep paying over 100$ a month stay with one of the other guys... I pay 92 a month INCLUDING my note 4 payment. Unlimited everything including data. Due to T-mobiles high speeds my phone is my home internet.
PS> I have seen more retards at Verizon stores than anywhere. Maybe its just the stores where you live have a crappy regional manager? Ever think of that?
Well, I'm sure I must have went to a well reputable Verizon store then. T-Mobile's phone reps never seem to be updated or clear regarding their own policies, nor do they even understand their latest uncarrier moves. Ask them a question (even if you already know the answer) and you'll get a distorted answer from them. I've been to some T-Mobile stores where the reps were courteous, professional, and knew what they were selling, but the odds for encountering a carrier store like that are low for the most part. Its the tele-representatives I'm referring to. I only switched to T-Mobile due to the value of service I'd be getting, nothing to do with coverage.

You may be able to Jump to a new phone after a year or after the device is half way paid off but you have to trade it in . If you do the math you are losing money 2 ways. A year from now you can sell your phone outright for more than $400 easily . That being said 1 year from now you will have half your device paid off if you are doing the 2 year finance . So that means Tmobile is giving $330 Tops for your phone when you Jump. You can just sell your phone for anything more than $330 ( which is very easy) and put it towards a new device . When I was gonna Jump from my S5 to the note 4 they were only giving me $320 cause that is what I owed on it. I sold it for $425 and paid off the S5 and put the extra $105 towards my Note 4 . Unless you are on the old Jump then it is not worth it cause they pay you less than market value for an easy to sell phone.

In order to Jump you have to have half your device paid off . If you just bought a Note 4 now then in a year from now you will only owe $330 or so . So Tmobile is gonna give you $330 for a phone you could easily sell a year from now for over $400 . Keep your insurance , dump jump and put the $24 you save in a year for not having it plus the $400+ you can sell your Note 4 for and pay off your device when you want to Jump and put the extra $100 or so you have left towards your new phone. Put it this way even if you only get $350 for your Note 4 ( which would be on the very low end) you would still be coming out ahead. Why trade in an easy to sell device when you can sell it yourself ?No doubt about it that you are getting screwed by TMO when you pay for Jump . If you are on the Old Jump please disregard this message. the old Jump is worth it. Tmobile may still ask you to put a deposit on your new phone when you decide to jump . All jump does is pay off the remaing balance on your phone. Tmobile will still run a credit check when you get a new device.Just do the math and you will see why Jump is a Scam . Numbers don't lie put Big Business does. Anything they can to squeeze a few more dollars out of you a month.
I think its just a matter of convenience and peace of mind now with Jump 2. The fact that you don't need to worry about paying shipping and insurance and seller fees, etc when selling the phone to the second owner.
