[Q] Sailfish ram usage - Sailfish General

Question to anyone with a Jolla or potentially running the SDK. How much ram does the system use at idle? Is the 1gb enough for normal use age?

Yes, type it into the terminal. free -m (free reporting in megabytes) will give an output similar to this
[[email protected] ~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3829 3713 116 0 10 3465
-/+ buffers/cache: 238 3591
Swap: 8191 47 8144
top will give an interactive process manager, but across the top it should display memory usage. Free is preferred if it's available.
I'd also be interested to see the output of
cat /proc/cpuinfo
as well.

free -m

Awesome. Thank you much!

What's that? 812 mb RAM total? Or 812 not used by the system?
Does that mean the system occupies 188 mb? That's great. How would I ever take use of that 2 GB RAM I got?
I love sailfish

812mb are wired according to that screenshot. Minus the buffers and cache it comes down to 507mb which means he's doing quite a bit. I've got the nexus 4 image running and the system takes just under 300mb on boot for me.

[Q] Disable Webtop

For those ppl who dont own a webtop dock or will never use webtop interface,
it there a method to remove or disable the webtop interface
that can release the 512 MB ram for Android usage?
It would be blazing fast if we could do so!

If its not running, its not using 512 ram....
it's just like an app, if it's not running it doesn't take any of your memory.

I think he's referring to the face that the Atrix has a 2GB RAM chip inside, but half is used for the phone, and half for webtop.
At the moment there's no way to redistribute the RAM, but perhaps there will be in the future. In the meanwhile, don't worry too much about free RAM, with 1GB of operational RAM, it's not going to be what bottlenecks your phone.

erm 2 gb ram? where did you find that?
I think he means Atrix has 2GB ROM.
About RAM: You can see through comparision between Atrix and Galaxy S2:
- Atrix has 818MB Ram for Apps, with stock apps ( included bloatwares ), free Ram ~ 480 - 560MB. My Atrix free upto 620MB with many apps installed
- Galaxy S2 has 848 Ram for Apps, same condition, free Ram ~ 454 - 550MB.

So you can see webtop won't effect your Ram in real life usage!

Can anyone post the ram availability after the first boot

Hello
I would like to know how much ram still available in the note 2 after the system fully boot up
Screenshot will be good

And for those kidding themselves about the s3 having enough ram, my note 2 uses up to 1.3gb or ram sometimes treating it the same way as I did my s3.
However it is DDR2 RAM not DDR3, so it is not as fast.
No phone has DDR 3 ...
huhhhh....

It does to be fair but s3 was a hog too. It just needed more ram. I want note 3 to have 3gb. S4 doesn't excite me anymore, I'm happy till the n7300 arrives
after reboot:
This is the only reason of why I am going to change note 1 for 2.

Tweaks

Hi, I want to know if you have

Try v6_Supercharger. There's a flush command which really frees RAM.

[Q] User available storage space & camera/gallery starting speed

Hello,
I've searched the forum and haven't found any information on those 2 subjects, so I'm asking here, hopefully that's ok
First of all, I wanted to get a 32GB version of the S5, but it seems it won't be available for a while in Belgium, with no indication on a release date (the only thing I heard was "maybe in June when they release the other color models").
So I was thinking of getting the 16GB again, despite the need to use things like Foldermount, but I was wondering what the user available storage space is this time compared to the S4?
The other question I had was because of the review on Techradar (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/ph...ng-galaxy-s5-1226990/review/10#articleContent)
They say the following :
"I wasn't always impressed by the speed of the phone either - the camera could take a while to load, games sometimes showed lag and opening the gallery will always be a sticking point for me."
From what I heard elsewhere, the phone is pretty speedy for everything, so could you guys (who have tested out the phone already) confirm how it is for you?
Thanks!

Out of the box, the user gets 10.7GB free space on the 16GB model.

Try downloading the 'AVG tune up' I find this great for clearing caches, running apps, history cleaner, message and call cleaner and it seems to run perfectly, do you have a lot of apps downloaded because even though you might not have opened the app they can discreetly run without you being aware, also go to you settings and applications tab and scroll sideways til you come to processes and this is where you see everything running.
i upgraded to custom rom cm11m9. %25 diffirence and phone is good now. no stuck anymore

Hello,
RAM should be always free from running application because running application makes devise slow and hence it create bad performance.
