LegacyXperia project brings CyanogenMod 11 to 2011 Sony Xperia devices - Xperia Play General

Just found on the nice widget app XperiaBuzz, sadly no word on Xperia PLAY... but hoping this will not be an issue soon with the awesome devs here.

If anyone running a 2011 Sony Xperia device is looking to freshen things up with some Android 4.4 KitKat action, then you’ll be glad to hear that an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 build has landed. This is courtesy of XDA legendary developer mikeioannina who is supporting a number of devices including the Xperia arc, arc S, neo, neo V, mini, mini pro, active, pro, ray and Live with Walkman.
The builds only went live a few days back so they are only at an alpha stage, but despite this, users are reporting that the ROMs are pretty stable. The main features not working right now is 720p video recording, FM radio, HDMI and Wi-Fi hotspot. Wi-Fi is working but is buggy. If you want to find out further details then check out the LegacyXperia Project website.

I think its just a mistyping. Once I saw that X8 has got 1GHz CPU So don't eat it.
EDIT: "Disclaimer. We can not guarantee that the information on this page is 100% correct."
X8 is upgradable, yes. This means X8's hardware support Android 2.3. Pity, but this does not mean that the X8 updated officially to 2.3
they fool people around they say u can run flash on x8 after upgrading to 2.2
and it has arm11 processor which is a big lie

Maybe the guys from that website saw GingerDX on XDA and that's why they put X8 as upgradeable to 2.3 because Dx's roms are better than official

Not completely false. Our processor family is Arm 11 and version is Armv6.

Hadn't heard of this one - it does mention "Sony Ericsson R800a", so that's certainly very promising.
I was actually considering trying to contact the developers of Android Transporter to see if they would consider implementing their solution on the Xperia Play:
http://esrlabs.com/android-transporter/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLEeZ9zU7yI (phone to phone)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyoZoNA8U24 (phone to raspberry pi)
I really like the Android Transporter approach because they use hardware acceleration to encode the video before it is transmitted (just as your phone uses hardware acceleration to encode video for the camera, it instead encodes the screen output and transmits it). And it is very standards-compliant and they released an open-source receiver for Raspberry Pi. But I think so far they've only targeted certain devices, for which they've released a custom rom for with their stuff baked in, so we would need them to develop a ROM for us.

Xperia™ Tablet Z added to the AOSP for Xperia™ Project on GitHub [Open Source]

Just like for AOSP for Xperia Z and AOSP for Xperia S, the purpose of this project is to support Android developers. We know that kernel sources and AOSP configuration is useful to custom ROM developers, and ever since we announced the project, we’ve received a number of requests to add more devices. It is also worth reiterating that the purpose of the project is not to make stable software suited for daily use.
Technical status for the different AOSP for Xperia™ projects
Since the AOSP for Xperia Z was first published, we have been able to replace some of the binaries with source code. More specifically, we’ve dropped the precompiled sensors lib and replaced it with our Dynamic Android Sensor HAL (DASH), which is also available as a separate project on GitHub. This opens up more opportunities for custom ROM developers to adapt the system to their needs. It’s also worth noting that with the newly updated kernel source, the latest version of the Qualcomm prima Wi-Fi® driver can be used. This makes it easier for us to use the Xperia™ Z and Xperia™ Tablet Z as development platforms for this component as well.
The AOSP for Xperia Tablet Z starts off in a very similar state as the current status of AOSP for Xperia Z. And soon, we plan to add the configuration for Xperia ZL as well. Check out the code on our GitHub for the latest technical status!

The Xperia Tablet Z is from Sony Mobile, not VAIO so we are not surprised at all.

[PETITION FOR NOUGAT]For Sony To Update Xperia Z2 & Z3 To Official Nougat 7.0

The Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 devices are both amongs one of Sony's best smartphones ever that they has released. By signing this petition, we will all let Sony take action and update our precious Z2 and even Z3 devices to Android Nougat!
But what about Vulkan API support???
Anything is possible, and we will prove to Google and Sony that having the minimum requirements for software to work correctly, is plain garbage, and that Vulkan API can be left out for them, because it's not like the Vulkan API is a necessity for Nougat in order to run correctly.
ANYMORE QUESTIONS WILL BE BROUGHT UP FROM THE COMMENTS ONTO THE OP AND ANSWERED HERE.
SIGN THIS PETITION NOW!: http://bit.ly/2eEwqN5
Thanks!
I Just Want A Stable 7.0 Build For Z2
Man i think this is impossible. Qualcomm completely left the development of the SD800/801 and if Sony update our devices without permission of Google, they will be in a big trouble. To me, this is impossible.
You are totally right Little Snevil. I also think that official update it's impossible because Qualcomm processor.
Enviado do meu D6503 através de Tapatalk
Well, MAYBE it is possibile to get android 7.0 on snap 801. Just look http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...coming-soon-geekbench-benchmark-hints-yes.htm
This is sad, but change.org never has been listed by Google or Sony, like happen with z1 and marshmallow, Xperia L and kit kat, Xperia sp and kit kat. The true is Google and Sony never listen to users, only look the sales, and for those is better for him sale the new and forget the old
what i can say in that?
@Brandon Nel
Having a petition is a good idea, and I am not against it.
But there are two questions I would like to raise before proceeding to sign the petition:
1. Our Z3 and Z2 has been released for 24 and 30 months already, this already exceed the normal aftermarket support for Android devices (usually it goes among 18 to 24 months). Although you might say there has been rule breakers recently (for instance the Xperia Z that has almost 36 months of follow up upgrade), but however there are also some far below standard devices (eg Xperia C, which has no android upgrade since release). After all, Qualcomm, Sony and any other companies still have to make money for R&D and make a living, right? So I am thinking that shouldnt we live with what we are having now (AOSP 7.0)?
2. Shouldnt Qualcomm the company you should challenge against? Vulkan and OpenGS are featured in the chipset which is manufactured by QC, not Sony!
We should petition Qualcomm & Google instead of Sony.. Sony tried their best to bring Nougat through their Beta program for Z3.
But due to the lack of chipset updates from Qualcomm and the Vulkan API requirement set by Google, so many devices have been abandoned from the update even though they are fully capable to run N. This includes Z2 & Z3.
So in this case, either Qualcomm has to release update to our chipset or we have to force Google to remove mandatory Vulkan API requirement.

//This is purely an opinion, might be treated as sarcasm, but it is an opinion
1. Nougat is bad for me, it is uglier and security is even worse because of getting more strict.
2. It is nearly impossible to push this through, because now you need to actually HAVE that VulkanAPI support in order to get a cert from google to use gapps(Noone will use Vulkan straight away, because of fragmentation, but well, three billion devices run java, now three billion devices will have to run Vulkan as well and if not, they'll die)
Any effort is worthwhile haha. This should be shared in the Z3 forums!
Well, Sony published AOSP for Xperias. This might mean something, maybe they will be able to somehow get that cert.
Did you see this :
Sony is not to blame for leaving the Xperia Z3 off the Android Nougat list
http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/08/3...ng-the-xperia-z3-off-the-android-nougat-list/
All devices with SD 800/801 will not updated to Android N 7.0 , Because of Qulacomm .

Not because of Qualcomm, but because of Google. They made Vulkan obligatory for getting certs. No one is going to use it from day one of Nougat anyway, because fragmentation, they want to push APIs, but Nougat isn't like 99% of Android right now. Although it might be handy when it reaches higher shares due to Vulkan's performance.

I was using the Xperia X with Sailfish OS and it wasn't for me for daily use. So I sold my Xperia X and I bought the Xperia XA2. Hope that when Sailfish OS 3 launch, will be for daily use on the Xperia XA2.
Interesting, what was the Problem? When I used it at the beginning of jolla years ago the performance were really nice, even the Android apps were faster than on my native Android device with better hardware.
I liked the gesture handling, the full control over everything and the independence from every big company I hadn't on other devices.
