[Q] Can I transfer Titanium Backup data from my Galaxy Nexus to my new Note 3? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that is rooted and rommed, I am getting a Note 3 and I am wondering if all of my saved game data can be transferred to my new Note 3.
I save everything regularly with Titanium Backup, and obviously before I swap my sim Card to the Note 3, I'm going to fully backup everything.
Can I then root the Note 3 and install Titanium Backup and restore my app data after downloading these apps from the play store?
I think it should work, my only concern was if Titanium Backup encoded stuff according to the phone, since the two phones have different screen sizes and processing abilities.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have switched from several phones and have restored with titanium backup on my new phones without a problem. Should be fine.

Sure u can switch backup data,... If u want this to be a recession! Lol
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

Sure, you can do that with the titanium backup using cloud like dropbox or box. The games data shouldn't give you any problem except app data might give you problem. Who knows. good luck

Awesome, thanks for the replies. I was hoping it's possible.

Sorry, but I have not tried yet. I still don't have a note 3. I'll be getting one after Christmas. Since I'm clinging on to my unlimited data, it's going to be a big purchase.

I restored my backups from S3 on my note 3 with no problems

You don't need to reinstall the apps. Just batch restore from tiBu

I had the galaxy nexus and swtiched to the note 3 as well. If you're only looking for a few games' data to be moved, and not a significant number of apps, once you root your note 3, your can use the app called Datasync. Over a wifi connection, you can transfer anything from one phone to another, whether it be game data, full apps, pictures video ringtones, anything. I'd link it but I'm new lol

I do this all the time for games... Even aps like phonemypc, Boa and Quickoffice. It's not a problem to restore the data from backups on other devices for any app you can download in the play store. I even use TiBu to restore my Call Log, Accounts and Text messages, which I guess is technically system data (TiBu highlights these with green), TiBu is able to handle that data very well... I'm sure it goes without saying, but just don't restore any system data (TiBu highlights these with red). Hope this helps.

Need to know if this is possible with Titanium Backup

I'm using Titanium Backup to restore my girlfriends apps and data from her Galaxy SII to the new Galaxy SIV. Both have stock roms. On the SII she has a native app that came with the phone called task 1.0, it's like a memo note. The SIV does not have this program. How do I get Titanium back to install the app and data on the SIV, or is this not possible since they are different phones? Every time I hit restore app+data it just sits there and nothing happens, does that mean they are not compatible across phones?
Is it an app that can be downloaded from the play store or is it a system app from the SII.

It's a system app I can't find in the play store.

Backups with TB do work between different devices. My guess is the app is not compatible with the S4 so it can't restore. Probably the resolution or the app is tied with the calendar on the S2. Something like that. Have you tried restoring without data? Might have to find an alternative app for the S4.

It's not tied to the calendar it's like the yellow note pad you just type stuff on like a post it. For some reason hers is called task instead of memo. I think you are right about it not being compatible. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. It does not give the option to restore without data for this app, only with data. I'm guessing it doesn't work with the IV because it has S Memo.

Coming from Samsung Vibrant

Hi,
Got my Nexus 4 today, currently I have the Samsung vibrant, is it safe to backup (titanium) all apps on the vibrant and restore them on the nexus 4?
Any other tips for migrating?
Thx!

Dunno about titanium, maybe if you were on Jellybean on the other phone. Otherwise i would say that its probably not transferable
Just poked my head in to say that i had the vibrant and its an amazing phone.. Sometimes i even miss it a little lol.
Welcome to the forum, im sure youll love your N4

As long as they are user installed apps there should not be a problem. Don't restore system apps.
It is however not advisable to restore apps from a different OS version. And the phone you have didn't even have ICS.

It would cause ALOT of problems, mainly because reusing apk's can cause errors and force closes. Just back up the data not the apk/app. If anything doesn't work clear data for the app.

Hi,
Currently I am using 4.2.2 on my Vibrant (SlimBean Rom), so it is the same OS.
Well, I've just now setup the phone (I am one of those who use to do a full charge before first boot), and choosed to
restore my google account, besides of settings it is also installing the apps for me. Now somehow it installs only the apps
that I currently have on my phone and not all the apps that I've ever downloaded (maybe I used Titanium to remove market links
the last time I restored my Vibrant phone, dunno).
Anyway, so I am starting clean, which is better I believe...
Thanks!

Hehe, yes, the Vibrant is a great phone, but must admit it is getting old and slowish when running 4.2.2, time to move on...

Samsung Kies if your on windows/os x
I don't have access to a laptop or computer are there any other options
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
does kies include saving app data like saving game progress, for example you reach level 10 of a certain game with 100 credits, etc . kies is cumbersome for transferring text messages.. not sure if it will work with whatsapp messages too.
i am asking this because soon i will upgrade too to the note 3 and I dont root also. how about the titanium/helium i keep hearing about? thanks, thanks
I tried helium but it kept asking to connect to computer I thought I could just save to sd card

Good Luck with the backup. I found whilst moving from IOS to Android that the backup for non rooted devices leaves a lot to be desired. This is one area Sammy needs to get sorted out properly. I mean can they not emulate / copy itunes or somethng? lol
itunes saves app data? sorry im clueless about apple-related stuff lol.
some of the games i play can be stored in google cloud but i am not sure if it will work properly on a new phone.
craigel, from what i understand, for sd cards you can store pics, files, etc, as well as apps, just not the complete app data if i am not mistaken
Don't rely on kies. It's garbage.
Try Mybackup

Beep'nGo App

Since updating my Galaxy S4 to the 4.3 OS, the app “Beaming Service for Beep’nGo” continues to appear as an update in Play Store. The problem is that the ‘parent’ app, “Beep’nGo” is NOT installed on my phone. Does anyone know how to remove it? Tx

Where did you find the app? I don't find it in my list of apps & it didn't appear in an ES Explorer search. Haven't tried TB.

You may have to reinstall BeepNGo first in order to properly get rid of it.
Titanium Backup is acknowledged as the best backup app out there and well worth buying the license.
It can do many things - freezing and removing apps being one thing, but you may need the full licensed version to do what you need.
You also need to be rooted.

Well, I installed the app from Play Store then uninstalled using Android Assistant. Then powered off & the Beep’nGo app was no longer there. However, the beaming app was still listed as an update in Play Store!!! I double-checked my backups via MyBackupPro & the parent app had not been backed up in the past. So, I guess I'll just have to live with the stupid beaming utility existing in Play Store forever as I'm not going to root my phone.

'
Mobeam service application'
That's what you want to freeze/uninstall using Titanium to remove 'Beaming service for 'Beep 'n go'.

I have the same problem. Can't get rit of it in the google play list, so can't remove it, and it keeps trying to install with any updating. Realy awfull spam app. Hate it, but can't be removed...****ty google play!!!! Google should make it easier to remove apps from your list!!! Why don't they??
Please give the add-on (link) and the original app (link) a 1-star rating. With enough low ratings, they might reconsider forcing this down our throat. (I have an S5 by the way, same crap)
I got it removed...finaly.
I installed Titanium Backup and deleted it from the backup list. After that it had a "x" in google play and so i could then remove it. FINALY!!.
But still...removing ANYTHING should be made a lot easier by Google in the first place!

Switching from Galaxy Note 2 to LG v20

Hey guys!
I am switching from Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to LG v20 and was wondering how to import all my data from Note 2. I have few backups with Samsung Kies and is there a way to just import a fresh backup from Kies to LG?
I will prefer a program like Samsung Kies for Windows that can work with both phones but if there's an App that I can install on both phones and transfer data via bluetooth / wifi or something is fine too.
Thanks!
You have to use LG backup, download it from the play Store

Thanks Nick, I just checked it on playstore and there are many reviewers saying its not working with new LG phones. I will still give it a try when I get the phone.
Any other suggestions are appreciated!

I had issues with it myself mainly stemming from time constraints so I can't comment on that myself

Some carriers like AT&T have apps to do it as well.

I did it as well - but just as a suggestion, when setting up the V20, make sure your sim card is in or it's connected to wifi and make sure that you setup your google account. Otherwise it will not install your apps.
First go round, I bypassed the google screen and was going to do it after and I still had my sim in my Note 7 and was at work (no wifi) and it did not install any of my apps.
I made a backup on my SD card using LG backup, installed the SD card in my lgv20 and transferred it that way. Worked out fine.
