msm_hsic_host still present on kitkat android 4.4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, i think everybody update their phone to kitkat, and all knows about the battery drain caused of this wakelock related the modem (3g network) . For example when you are connected on 3g the battery drain alot also on deep sleep and its not good.
I heard that qualcoom has investigate in this issue but there is nothing new to fix it. So im asking everyone who have this problem if there is a new fix or something like that, also because there was an hudge update (ANDROID 4.4) but the problem almost for me, is still there. How could google release a new firmware without an hardware revision? this bug is present from android jelly bean.
If someone knows how to fix it please let me know because i can use only 2g to arrive at a day of battery usage with data connected. Thank you advance

I remember to read the solution in some thread...
1. Disable location
2. Reboot
Check if worked for you, it worked for me

Oh ok i will try, do you mean disable location under geolocation setting ?

As far as i've read about it, this will never be really solved.
It's some sort of a high speed interconnect between the cpu and the radio and these devices simply have to communicate. Some other soc's have the radio embedded, but the Mako doesn't.
Allthough it shows up as a wakelock, it doesn't really consume that much power.

This is absolutely right, some developers confirmed that. It's not possible to fix. But it's draining much battery, that's why I never use 3G/H.

i never use wifi, only my data signal. ive never had extra drain because of this, only great battery life. especially while the device is sleeping, almost no battery loss overnight(1%). maybe the quality of your data signal isnt very good.

hey guys looks like it's work. I want to ask you what do you mean disable location under geolocation setting? sorry it's very noob question but can you become more spesific about this?
thank you

Basically what I observed is:
When I stay at home all day on WiFi this wake lock will only add some minutes.
When I'm at work driving around a lot through lots of different mobile cells with varying coverage and signal this wake lock can add to up to 2 hours per day for me.

Buddy there is no a fix because this wakelock is caused from crappy radio interface of the nexus 4. You basically can use 2g istead 3g, go on setting and disable geolocalization and put it from device only, then go on account settings tap google and disable unwanted sync. This will help a bit but keep in your mind, in this phone when 3g is on battery will be crappy in all cases ?

[Q] High CPU Load and Lag

Hi all,
recently I bought a i9505 (with Snapdragon 600), it was a Vodafone branded version so, just the time to come back at home and I flashed with ODIN latest Italian version on sammobile (I9505XXUAMDM_I9505ITVAMDB_I9505XXUAMDM_HOME.tar) and rooted with CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar .
The problem is about the micro lag that plagues this phone .. so I checked in developer side of the phone the CPU load and I found a very very high load, a lot of time it's more than 100.

The phone is almost empty, just facebook, whatsapp and other 3 apps. How is possible all this CPU load and this microlag ?
Maybe stock rom bugged ?
Can someone check if his S4 has same loads ?
Thank you all!
The CPU load on my phone while going through settings, checking notification center and just looking at the home screen is low. I didn't see it go over 35%. Is your list always that long? Mine is usually about the length that it is in the screenshot attached but does go beyond half the screen for a second or two sometimes.

On first, thanks for your reply.
About your 35%, this is not a percentual, it's a time of CPU, is a bit more complex, you can find a explanation here.
Yes, my list is more long then a page some times..
My old GNexus hardly went beyond 2, or 3 values.. Maybe Samsung ROM are very heavy, but this is so high..
About battery, is normal mine consumption (in attachment) ? Because high CPU consumption may reduce highly battery duration.
Let me know.
Thank you

Ye, rebooting, the high cpu load reduces (to 2 or 3) and after some moments (10-15min) turn back to 50/60..
Is I9505XXUAME2 from Austria ?

I'm sorry, you are right.
I made some screenshot of today, I charged at 100% the phone yesterday night and this morning (in air plane mode) it lost 6%, my old GNexus after 9 hours of air plane hardly lost 1%..
As you can see after this reboot the media scanner disappear..
Maybe I blocked some apps too much?
Was looking through the pictures you posted. It actually seems pretty normal. One thing about the google play services is that people have reported that it was eating CPU time. The reason behind is the added google sync services. To reduce the usage, go to your google account on your phone and uncheck useless stuff like "movies, books" etc.
It doesn't matter if you block too many apps.
Also, one last thing. The standby time varies from phone to phone. Gnex and sgs4 are inherently different phones. 6% overnight is rather acceptable.
P.s.if you find this of help, I recently added the donate button. I wouldn't mind a beer or two

If you can't find the source of the drain try a factory reset.
We went through so many threads like that, my man.
Do a search.
For the headup, assuming that you have already turned off Android location access, turned off Google location access, turned off auto-sync (I know you said you needed it but just for now, off it), turned off gps/mobile networks, do the following
a. disable Knock On/Off feature
b. disable CIQ (if you don't have CIQ, then ignore this step)
Note: do one by one and make an observation how the battery life behaves after each change.
Oh, btw, reboot the phone, say, right after unplugging the charge.

you should know better than to give stats.... standby hours and battery life is varied alot by user, ambient temperature and etc.
OP if you feel thats not right, flash another rom see if it help, I'm using energy rom, its good for me so far.
Try remove some bloat and apk with titanium... A regular user can often remove 100 apk from these roms! And use bootmanager and greenify! Greenify is must have!

Don't hope, fix now.
If I was you, I would backup all my important personal info on the phone and factory reset it.
I would do those tricks one by one w/o installing any app yet and see how the battery fares after each charge.
General speaking, we need to understand the root cause and find the solution from there, if it needs to be rooted to fix the problem then you root it otherwise, blindly rooting and assuming everything else will fix isn't the right way to debug.

fact reset done , only whatsapp installed. same issue so i installed my other apps as well. im guessing its a kernel issue

N910F, "Android OS" battery drain - can't determine the cause

This started happening about a week ago... I didn't install any new apps in particular. I've attached screenshots to the post.
Screen-on time is a little below an hour in these screenshots.
As you can see Android OS and Android System are at the top of the list by a long shot. Android System seems "normal" in the sense that it has 58mn of CPU time and only 18mn of wakelocks (as reported by the built-in battery menu).
Android OS however kept the phone awake for 6h11 which seems like a lot. I'm not rooted, so I did the ADB USB trick in order to pull stats out of Wakelock Detector, and all of the apps clearly don't add up to six hours. Especially not the usual suspects like Google Services, Facebook, etc.
Diagnosis shows a LOT of system processes, and I'm not sure if that means 1) it's all good as far as user land goes (I don't have any weird apps) 2) there's a system process gone rogue for some reason 3) the cause isn't showing up 4) something else???
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
I have the same issue. Tried greenifying everything. No dice. I reboot, phone fine, then stays away. I will say that my battery life is good though, but this riddle is driving me nuts

Me too - 910F - im on Lollipop, but struggling to make it through a day at the moment.
Checking my Battery Graph is the same Story - my phone seems to be Awake constantly.
Seems Android System is using it....
Anyone have any ideas?
I can only recommend rooting your phones and change roms or kernels.
TW is heavy on battery and if you change to a CM rom the battery life will increase dramatically.
I have rooted all my phones since the very first android phone ever made and i cannot own a non rooted device as the freedom of rooting is just to awsome to ignore.
Every time i have battery issues i ether change my rom or kernel and then my issues goes away...
Can't root Verizon unfortunately
Hmm. Try this. Unchecked under advanced wifi, the option to let Google and apps use wifi, even when wifi off. Since then, 12 hours, I have had normal sleep. Did reboot after Unchecked. . Premature to say I fixed it, but so far so good.
Update. Since unchecking that wifi option, phone sleeping normally still.
Update #2- after 36 hours. It's back! Awake constantly. Unreal

WIFI uptime 100% while it's turned off - battery drain

Hey,
I'm having issues with my nexus 6p phone where it seems to have some battery drain issues, when i'm checking the battery history the wifi uptime is 100% while it's actually turned off.
What i have tried:
Verifying wifi advanced options - turned everything off and changed freq to 2.4.
Location advanced options - turned everything off.
Looked in the xda forums , found a thread with the above solutions.
It's pretty annoying, my phone is updated to last version(this months update).
Have anyone else faced this issue as-well and solved it somehow?
Thanks in advance.

Battery drain on Nexus 6P
Hello,
I am experiencing the same issue. I tried few ROMs and Kernels, but since a month and something ago my Nexus 6P is having some serious battery drain issues. Before I managed to get over 5 hours SOT before, but then the battery drains began and now I manage to get only 3 hours and a few minutes at the best.... I turned off all of the potential settings that can affect battery life (scanning and location included) but it didn't help. It seems to me that my phone does not want to Doze (you can see it when you look at last screenshot)...
I am attaching screenshots from BetterBatteryStats (while using stock ROM and Kernel), and another screenshot from Settings->Battery while using ParanoidAndroid build.

I had the same issue for a while, but it has recently stopped. The WiFi usage bar is now empty. I haven't noticed any particular change in battery life whether it shows it or not so I would say it's nothing to worry about.
I've seen reports of this glitch from back when L was released. So it's probably no more than a glitch.

Personally, I wouldn't use the Facebook app. It's a huge resource hog. I use the mobile site. The bug discussed didn't actually cause battery drain though, it only showed on the graph as always on. You are most likely getting the drain from elsewhere. Try uninstalling Facebook and give it a 24 hour cycle. See if your results are better.
Also, I always recommend backing up and wiping internal storage once and a while. That can clear up a ton of issues.

Hey,
I'm having issues with my nexus 6p phone where it seems to have some battery drain issues, when i'm checking the battery history the wifi uptime is 100% while it's actually turned off.

If you have Viber, go to General settings and tick "use device's settings" and check if the problem goes away.

The same here.
Anybody that may have another solution?
P.S.: It seems to me that my Nexus 6P does not go into Doze Mode.

Finow X3+ Battery Life help

I got my new Finow X3+ watch this past week and although I'm really impressed with the look, speed and overall capability of the device, all of that means squat when it can't make it past 8 or 9 hours on a good day with very limited use (basically only checking the time and notifications with only BT tether and cell on, no WIFI).
Not sure if it was bad OTAs that I installed when I got it or what's going on but I think it has something to do with phone not sleeping..If anyone can give tips to save battery that you've found for unrooted x3+ please let me know.
Also does anyone know of a way to disable the pedometer hardware as I'm pretty sure that's the a big issue. Thanks guys
The cell network is the batt hogger. What do you expect from that tiny batt? Because Watch standby is perfect.

It's true, since turning off cell service I can usually get almost a full day (7am-10pm) just using it as a companion watch with m2d but it's disappointing not being able to use it the way I thought I could.
But how are you getting 3.5 days on one charge? I don't think mine goes into full deep sleep possibly because pedometer always logging info? Please let me know if you know how to disable the pedometer constantly running since I'd rather use it and the Heart monitor on an "as needed" basis. Any help is appreciated.
You have installed this update?
Yea I did...should I not have installed it?
I read that drains the battery, you've seen any change?

I'm on latest. That 3d standby I got by turning off all sensor. Specially GPS. that hogs. Also pedometer. Use them when u need.

Yea I noticed bit more drain after that OTA but not overheating like some others. Gonna try factory reset like sonia said
I turned off GPS and WIFI and also ios notification which was big battery hog and it made big difference. How did you stop other sensors and pedometer though? I can't find those settings.
As ios turn off notifications?

Yea I turned off the ios push notification like you're showing in your pic, was taking about 10% battery in mine too. It didn't have any effect on notifications from phone to watch cause I don't use iPhone. Saved good amount in battery too.
So you know how I can disable pedometer if that's possible?
But as ios notifications is disabled?

I force closed ios notifications from the running apps list but for some reason it still takes some battery. Anyway I solved my issue: I did factory reset and then downloaded a phone booster app someone recommended on the Google group page.
Went from ~8-10 hours light use to about a day and half on one charge with moderate use. If anyone has battery life issues for seemingly no reason then try this. Thanks for your help mad.
